During a press conference to announce that Softbank will be investing $100 billion into U.S. manufacturing, tech and overall emerging technology in the USA, President Trump took dozens of questions.
Standing beside SoftBank’s chief executive, Masayoshi Son, at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Mr. Trump announced the anticipated investment likely to create 100,000 jobs. Mr. Son, 67, started SoftBank in Tokyo in 1981 and has built it into one of the largest technology investors in the world. His firm is known for high-profile wins and losses, and Mr. Son — commonly known as Masa — is known to grab headlines with both fund-raising and investments.
Following the announcement with Mr Son, President Trump took questions. WATCH:
.
President Trump politely asked the outgoing Biden administration for two requests:
(1) Stop selling the steel and rebar border wall hardware that President Trump previously purchased. Currently the Biden administration is selling the border wall cheap to anyone who wants to purchase. It’s a ridiculous waste of money.
(2) Stop telling federal workers they will not have to return to their offices. The Trump administration plans to require all federal employees to return to offices and report for work as assigned. There are estimates that only 1% of federal workers actually go to a workplace, the rest work from home.

“Another bid to overturn Justice Merchan’s gag order on Trump in NY hush money case is rebuffed. Went first to Sotomayor (circuit justice, who refused), then to Thomas who referred to full court, which denied without comment or noted dissent”
WTF?!
Methinks Judge Merchan should have to answer to a Federal Grand Jury about his involvement in an attempt by the State of New York to interfere in the 2024 presidential election…
Two can play at the separation of powers game…
At this press conference, PDJT mentioned a few of the “election interference” lawsuits he has going on. I am sure that every single one of them has got to be shaking in their shoes wondering when they are going to be served.
Methinks Judge Merchan should have to answer to the people outside the courthouse.
The Federal Code of Ethics states ” that even the appearance of a conflict of interest should be avoided”. How much money has merchan’s spawn acquired for his/her/its business from the anti-TRUMP swamp???
It all makes perfect sense, if seen as part of a Grand Theater designed to distract* while the global tectonics grind toward convergence.
(* Actually, such design would include much more than simple distraction, the entities capable of this level of manipulation honed their arts over decades in the global theater, and current events suggest we are living in their crowning achievement program, on track toward its goals.)
Theater is indeed the zeitgeist of the day:
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-supreme-court-justice-ketanji-brown-jackson-appears-in-lgbt-themed-broadway-play/
I would like myself for somebody to explain to me HOW Merchan and Chutkan both are able to preside over an American Presidents cases when neither one of them were born in this country. Neither one’s parents were Citizens of the US when they both were born, with Chutkan not even coming to this country until she was 17 years old. You can’t even find when either one of them became Citizens here. HOW is this possible?
About 50% don’t need an office anywhere. They don’t need to be working for the government
Also a large portion were hired with NO OFFICE in mind. Have a buddy who actually does good work for the VA and he was hired into a remote job to do it.
I think most of the phone operators at VA work remote. I had to call the 24 hour VA notification line last month to report my husband’s ER visit here in Mississippi. The lady I spoke to was in Nebraska. I’ve had VA callers for various things and none of them were in areas nearby to where I live.
Another tell is when you call the VA or other government agency and you hear either a dog or kids in the background.
or, The View.
That’s funny!
I guess we can at least be thankful she was in the US.
I was talking to a Social Security agent on the phone today and she mentioned she didn’t have to go into the office until Wednesday.
At home, with their family, their roommates, their AirBnB customers or whatever guests they happen to have over… and all of our Social Security numbers, all our income tax filings, all our medical records, all our business information, etc. etc.
True. My bet is that many of them have REAL full time jobs while also, allegedly but not actually, a “work from home for the federal govt jobs. They work 8 hours at their real job and also get paid for their federal no show job.
Now how are they going to be in two places at once?
I had a colleague who did that, contractor job and fed job. He got it away with it for several years, but eventually unless one of the the jobs demands literally nothing productive from you, it is impossible to keep two bosses happy no matter how long a leash they have you on.
I always wondered why. (I never saw him again to ask after he got caught.) If one is going to steal from the government, then there are more profitable, lower risk, and lower stress alternatives, like becoming a uniparty Congresscritter. Some people are too neurotic to even be effective criminals.
Agreed. My hypothesis is that these federal jobs were never intended to be a real job. My industry is the Las Vegas casino industry. I cannot tell you how many “hiring managers” were willing to sell positions, particular shifts/days off, and shift change bids.
If you take that to the federal level where no one has to meet payroll guidelines nor try to do the most with the least amount of dead weight then I envision hiring managers being offered all kinds of money to “hire” an existing employees’ friends, family members, or someone who paid the employee to get them a job.
My hypothesis is that when no one is held to a strict budget nor is encouraged to streamline tasks then the system is ripe for abuse.
I am sure that 10% of the “workers” probably do 90% of the actual work. The rest are cheating the system.
Commissary Officers during the American Civil War! Same outcomes
There’s a “Club”; just like the politicians rely on!
Ditto for CA state government.
Probably, the other problem is that if all of them go to the office, there is no enough office space in the District of Corruption to house them all.
Yes. Reports are that’s been widespread
You’re vastly overestimating the work ethic of most federal employees. The ones with legitimate jobs who are busy don’t have time for a second job. The others are more than happy to collect the check (and benefits). There’s no point in taking a second job if you’re being paid full time not to work.
Ha ha! I was trying to be kind just in case we have some federal government employees in this comment section. They are probably part of the 1% doing 99% of the work!
The rest probably sit at home. BUT!!! If they had half of a brain then they would go get a real job for 40 hours a week but collect the pay of two full time jobs.
Repeating for the umpteenth time, cause it bears repeating; if you enter Govt. service, municipal, county, state or federal, with an outstanding student loan, that loan is put on hold, i.e. you make no more payments.
And, after 10 years of govt. service, the loan is “forgiven” i.e. written off, and you don’t have to pay it.
So, many of these Federal employess that are fired will probably have to start paying on loans, that they hoped would be written off entirely.
Or show up for work.
I am a fed. I have 3 people that do the same job in my office. One is illegally using ‘telecommuting’ instead of sick leave and the bosses approved it, one can be hard to get ahold of during the day, and the other one can’t be trained to do the full job because the boss is holding back on the approvals.
BTW, my office has been under renovation for 5 years with another year to go for a job that should have taken 18 months, tops. Our construction managers are the worst. We paid one contractor the final check, then we found out the building was contaminated with lead and some asbestos but we had no recourse because the contract was closed.
When I was in the military we lied about our readiness for combat every year. Everyone knew it was joke.
Best to eliminate everything not mentioned in the Constitution and give the duties to the states.
Unfortunately I had a civil service job for 30 years and was expected to show up every freaking day. However, I enjoyed my job and was good at it and the type of behavior allowed today would never have flown back in the day when people actually worked for a living – even in the government 😎
Even worse, you would probably by driven out for making the others look bad just by showing up.
Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey and Mo Money!
GrumpyGrandpa bin a’ listenin’ to Tom T. Hall again:
Great record, song – a masterful story-teller.
Tom T. Hall for Chevrolet Trucks 🙂
Unless you’re just greedy.
Your assessment sounds right to me.
I’m a retired federal auditor. I retired long before COVID-19.
We had people who worked extremely hard 50-60 hour weeks and got paid for 40.
We had other people who were in the office 40 hours a week but produced little that was useful.
I saw the same in the government agencies we audited.
There were slackers when I was in the Marines and pretty much every job I ever had.
In the private sector, slackers can be let go rather easily, unless they are union workers.
Your last two words are a BINGO!
Yeah, in Oakland, California, some years back, they audited the Oakland Unified School District employee role, requiring each employee to come in to collect their benefits. Hundreds of people came in who were not working at any school, but who regularly received a paycheck and benefits. There was a guy who received regular reimbursements for “typewriter repair” even though the there were no schools in the district which either used or taught using typewriters. SMH
When you’re a Democrat, you’re just that good and just that brilliant (in their and the unions mind)!
Remember when Reagan fired ALL the air traffic controllers in the country?
I smell another breath-taking firing taking place onto Dept of Education or one getting abolished anyway!
A good and obvious signal to the others. Fast way to reduce the Washington workforce and let better management find their way up to the top! Nothing like losing both paychecks in one day with a million dollar mortgage to bring you back to reality.
An IRS audit of their tax returns would be interesting.
Start with the IRS employees. It was recently reported how many billion (I believe) IRS employees owed in unpaid taxes.
Wow. Hadn’t heard this one. Totally believable. That would be a good place to start.
Absolutely – for sure there are people who hold a second gig where they can do online / phone support
You mean like onlyfans?
😉
Exactly
Huma Abedine started a trend.
More like 95%
Who says they’re actually working?
That is an indescribable joy to watch. Masa is putty in POTUS’ hands.
Masa meets Master!
Historically, regardless of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan owes the US bigtime for its resurrection, and it has made a good ally.
An empire is well served by strong military colonies.
Japan has been a Far better ally than any of our European allies from WW2, thats for sure.
Britain was until Thatcher retired.
Lovely Japanese people.
Mr. Son at top of his comments,
mentions Peace.🕊️
Peace is a great selling point to encourage
investment in our country. Peace and stability.
President Trump is our President who advocates
for Peace🕊️🕊️
Seems like the press wasn’t as combative as
they usually are.
Worth watching!👏👏
This was a fantastic press conference. There were only a few stupid and/0r gotcha questions.
I cannot wait for all of these Federal Employees have to show up to an office in order to work. Having them pay gas taxes means that more of our infrastructure can be repaired and maintained.
I am certain that a lot of these “work from home jobs” are actually affirmative action jobs that include pay for no work. It is just another way to pay aggrieved groups of people their reparations. Plus, who knows how big a department is when no one can actually see the staff? What a way to skim money. Additionally, if you have a faux “work from home job” that means that you can have another job (and therefore 2 jobs) while only working 8 hours a day.
The rest of us actually have to work two 8 hour shifts in order to have 2 jobs.
It’s less about pay for no work, and more about the government not being able to bring people back to work post-COVID. That is a mix of zero accountability and the realization that many in both the private and public sector have that they can save money if they let people “work from home”.
My wife is a physician and she works in a clinic from 8am-6pm daily. It’s cold in her office, so she plugged in a space heater. Too many people didn’t like the 65deg thermostat, and so the company shut off the power outlets in everyone’s offices so they couldn’t bring in space heaters. And refused to turn up the heat. Why? Money.
Extrapolate that to companies that LIKE not having to pay for the internet, heat, water, and electricity of thousands of employees. And employees who do real jobs but basically sit alone in a cubicle all day. And I don’t just mean government workers.
COVID wrecked the system. The schools are barely recovering from the damage, too. But we spent TRILLIONS declaring 50% of the country is “non-essential” and nobody thought that would matter?!
And guess who the “essential” people were?
Mostly government.
Metro. Vanpools and carpools.
Designated pool traffic lanes.
Majority of people who actually work in downtown DC can’t afford
parking, vehicle insurance costs, time and hassle of commute.
Monthly parking in Downtown is 250.00 or more. Dealing with
traffic, stuck in traffic 2 hours after accidents…😬😖☹️
A lot of really competent and qualified people I knew refused
to work for Fed downtown just because of commute hassle.
Metro has been expanding for awhile, but now the maintenance/repair
costs are growing- it’s over 40 years old. Breaking down 🤷♀️
A lot of people will probably quit and find jobs closer to home.
Not worth the time, hassle and money to commute. The decision
to quit will really benefit them, and will probably be easy decision
for the competent and hard workers. They will probably go work
for contractors. 🤷♀️ Less DEI idiots in private sector.
Better job-work environment, closer to home, better health benefits,
better vacation and sick leave on the outside. And time to have a life,
spend time with family and not have to deal with commute.
The most incompetent will be the ones who will scream the loudest.
Been there-done that. Got the T shirt. Being a Fed employee really
is not what it is cracked up to be.
And if department/agency moved to different area depending
on parameters/qualifications up to 25% raise to move.
If I had 10-15 years in and that happened…I would be..sign me up
to relocate!
Instead of having these people commute to downtown with the inherent hassle and expense, they could have the people commute to a building in the suburbs where they live anyway.
If they need a miniscule amount to work downtown then, so be it. Everyone else can work at the satellite building.
They could, but would be an added expense
for the Government. Would mean an additional
cost to maintain and the upkeep, taxes, cost, etc.
on the satellite building. Not cost effective.
I am all for the downsizing of our Government.👏
It is overdue and much needed. Too much waste.
My experience-a department/office usually 20 people
and only average of two were competent and capable-
and overworked. No kidding.
Same thing happens in private sector …but in Fed everything
seems to be on steroids.
The competent will leave, the hard workers will leave.
Private sector was always “stealing “ Fed workers.
The headhunters are probably having a field day!
West Virginia is close & could use some taxpayers.
Tom…I think it’s your email address that’s causing problems. Email the Treehouse, and I’ll explain.
I actually worked in Downtown DC with
people who lived in Harpers Ferry area.
Great people!
They bought van and carpooled.
West Virginia needs a lot of attention by way of development , drug enforcement and investment. Always thought it could be the recruiting ground of America much like the South was in years past. Their current tax structure keeps retirees away.
of course if the workforce were to be cut in half, even considering the remoters returning, that would tend to drive prices down, eh?
Not really. I can’t see that happening.
Even now with the remote working deal.
Parking prices are still high. I checked.
250.00 monthly in downtown area.
Traffic may have improved🤷♀️ A little.
Insurance rates….maybe
Park and ride on the metro used to be a cheaper option.
Why a 25% raise to move? I worked in private industry my whole career. If the company decided to move HQ, or certain departments or even individual job functions to different cities, you generally got your relocation expenses paid but no more money. I made several moves this way. When one company in the Midwest got purchased by a company in California and wanted to move me to L.A., there was no salary increase involved, even though the cost of living was exponentially higher. I said, “No thanks!” and left the company. Later on my new employer got bought by a company in Seattle. Again, they wanted me to move to Seattle for no additional salary. My $250,000 house in the Midwest would cost $1,000,000 in Seattle. I said No and found yet another job.
OPM has information on their website
about it.
Yes, especially in specialized fields, and
the additional training received through
Fed, it may actually be cost effective to
retain the employees they have invested
in with training, additional education costs.
A substantial raise would be incentive.
It usually applies to those who work for
agency which gets relocated outside the
current area and it has to be within certain
mileage and other factors.
Smart decision👏👏
I would have turned down moving to LA too.
You definitely are a Fed employee, the benefits are almost non-existing for employees in the private sector. The IRS/Gov even took away our tax break for relocation to another job – can’t write that one off and no employer is paying anyone to relocate. It is on the employee’s dime. I do know people within the Fed-employee system and nothing in private sphere compares to the amount of accrued personal time compiled over the years where the gov-employee can take it as a payout. The gov will pay up to 1 year living & housing expenses while the gov employee is trying to find the perfect house. Government benefits are endless on into retirement.
Was.…..
Was a Fed for awhile.
After I earned reputation as competent,
hardworking and reliable (their words)
I was “stolen “…. By non Fed -Private.
All I stated…better pay, benefits, leave, etc.
Then I was “stolen” again…by another
in Private sector. Same salary, benefits,
leave, etc…..but was really close to where
I lived, and I grabbed the opportunity.
Did that for few years….then made career
move into totally different field. 🤷💁
Depends on skill set and reputation I guess.🤷💁
Asking Joe Biden to stop being corrupt and stupid is like asking the sun to stop coming up in the morning.
We’re done asking him. We’re telling.
Psalm 37
8
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9
For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
10
A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11
But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
“Maybe I’ll be there to shake your hand, maybe I’ll be there to share the land…..”
It was always one of my favorite songs.
A 5 year agreement for federal leaches not having to go in to work. Simple solution to that farce, just cutoff their online access and eliminate the positions. The leaches can stay home all they want until they have to stand in line with illegal invaders for EBT cards
Yes. Switch to some software program that can only be used in the office. Period.
They can monitor logins and key strokes/mouse usage on the government networks. They know fairly accurately who is working and who is not working whether in the office or working from home. All companies have this capability. They just don’t always use it until the employee becomes an HR problem.
My hypothesis is that many of them are not expected to work and are just hired because someone tipped well to get the job and/or there actually isn’t a job and they hired their (for example) 15 year old or 75 year old MIL in order to game the system.
The “fake hires” NEVER do a keystroke nor are department managers required make sure that they to do so because everyone is in on the graft. So, monitoring “keystrokes” is of no interest to them. They already know who does the work and who does not.
Ultimately, having people hidden in their homes makes sure that the 1% of the REAL WORKERS can never see that they are the only ones actually working while everyone else watches videos during their “work shifts”.
My guess is the PDJT and Team Trump want to corral these people into their offices where they can be monitored and all of the databases too which they have access are now confined to those buildings in anticipation of firing most of them.
They have more control over systems, information, and computer access if they are in one locale.
Let them discover how many of these “employees” actually know anything about their jobs and how to do them.
Return to office will have a size adjustment effect. When Human Resources Command was moved from Alexandria VA to Kentucky something like 70% found other jobs. Would guess the newly hired workers just as effective if not more so.
“My guess is the PDJT and Team Trump want to corral these people into their offices where they can be monitored and all of the databases too which they have access are now confined to those buildings in anticipation of firing most of them.“
Exactly. So they can’t cry and sue. The easiest way to avoid all that is just get um there, including any fed property, before giving the proper warnings and other protocols before the inevitable.
Wonder how many illegal invaders are on the government payroll
Welp, based on the circus of the last 4 years, I would suspect all of them.
That question is one behind the fear the Dems have of Trump ascending to the Presidency, once again! Besides illegal alien federal employees, how about operating subsidies for most MSM media networks, the quantity of money laundered from Ukraine and other high $ foreign aid going directly to Democrats, how many university students, foreign and domestic, are going for free, how much federal money do the Sanctuary Cities actually receive, an accurate accounting of ANY Windmill or Solar Farm, etc. Spending is WILDLY about-of-control!
There is always a way. Step one is to read the actual contract. Easy to adhere to the rules while shaping the organization. Many in positions of authority just don’t read the “instructions”. Make the union rep part of the process. 1) the rep will be shocked 2) the membership will know you are serious 3) info coming from the rep precludes rumor and panic.
RIF is a powerful tool. Know the parameters of how it works.
Classification is a pain but useful. Lots of positions are classified well beyond actual duties.
“There are estimates that only 1% of federal workers actually go to a workplace, the rest work from home.”
The Pentagon, aka the Spendagon, must be a very lonely place.
That five-sided fistagon!

20 years ago, I called it the “snow day workforce”. My theory for determining ‘essential’ employees was to wait for a snow day, count heads for who showed up, and fire the rest.
During the various government shutdowns, they changed everyone’s designation to ‘mission essential’ to avoid furloughs.
I worked as an editorial assistant for a famous elderly physician at a teaching hospital during the late 70’s. He did a lot of publishing and I did copyediting and indexing.
During the blizzard of ’78 it never occurred to me to skip work. I put on my boots and made the trek to the office on foot.
That day there were only two people from the entire staff of the research department there: he and I.
easy to change that back
LOL, in my agency they just moved the regional office into a tiny GSA building that won’t hold 30 people. They have a staff of 200.
Can’t wait to see what happens.
Overflow tents outside?
Shiftwork including weekends.
Re the 2nd request…since a large percentage of federal “workers” are minorities…
Expect the race card to be played, sympathy for single parents, lack of transportation to an office…
Non stop violins…but in reality they will be hitting the bricks soon…
It was reparations without any sort of announcements letting the rest of us know what is going on.
If they work in downtown DC…..
It will be the “minorities “ who live in the
surrounding DC area who will be staying.
They have access to Metro.🤷♀️
I actually had quite a few people I worked with
who commuted to Downtown DC from
Harpers Ferry West Virginia. Most were drafting
and engineering people.
They bought van and carpooled.🤷♀️
They are probably close to retirement..or retired by now.
Bought van and carpooled ….. I participated in that when I worked at McDonnell Douglas. The company owned the vans, $15/week was taken from my paycheck. Vans brought people in from small towns to work in the factories, some travelled 150 miles one way. My van pool was only office workers. An aside – one of the riders in my van pool had been a hostage in Iran, he never mentioned it and we didn’t ask.
Absolutely; DEI has been on a tear! But don’t expect very many street marches by the Orientals or South Pacificers! Won’t be many buildings burned down by Arabians, nor sit-down demonstrations by the Jewish. The Nordic people’s haven’t blocked the interstate highways in a long time either.
Are personal issues included in the bargaining agreement? Violins only matter if you listen to them.
Bribem has completely collapsed…we are in a very precarious position, ON PURPOSE!
0’Bama approved!
Fire them all and replace the @itches!
Watched it in its entirety – it was excellent. He’s fully in command.
Completely….how refreshing to see the boss is back…..as opposed to slojo who couldn’t find his way of stage after answering one question
After the last 4 years, even the snots in the press corps have to appreciate a live and functioning president who doesn’t hide behind spokespeople.
Will it sink in? Not likely, but the change in the air cannot be ignored.
DJT negotiated another 100B dollars on camera with Masa. Do you understand this? He has a 100B dollar commitment from Masa. During the presser he negotiated another 100B dollars in front of the camera and the deal sounds sort of firm. So, there may be and most likely 200B from Masa.
What balls! This man, my prez elect……Wow!
Now contrast Trump with the bullshit from cocaine Mitch. This article has more crap than his depends. Mitch wrote it or his special interest buddy.
https://www.foreignaffairs.com/united-states/price-american-retreat-trump-mitch-mcconnell
It shows how petty and spiteful McConnell is. It’s in very bad taste to write an article like that about the incoming president of his own party. This evil man should have given up his seat long ago. He looks like a pathetic old woman.
May I add, he looks like a pathetic old woman that’s about to cry. Why do his eyes always look so watery and sick?
But notice how he did it: He praised Masa over and over, “he’s brilliant”; “he’s so great”; “such good man”….And anyone on the receiving end of such high praise, knowing the entire world is hearing it too – just laps it up like a kitty with cream.
Biden and Mitch represent the two faces of the same coin. Both billionaires from corruption. Both craving more power and more money. Both 1 foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel! The Kongressional Koin!
My ex works at HUD. She went into the office 2 days a week, then one when caring for a sick relative.
In her defense, she is highly productive and overqualified (former attorney).
BORDER WALL BACKUP PLANS:
Enlist dozens of medium-sized STRAW BUYERS to buy Wall materials for pennies on the dollar.
PURCHASE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
1. Saves money.
2. Saves time.
3. Allows immediate Wall construction while new Wall contracts go out to bid. President Trump previously had 200 new miles of Wall ready to go.
I have a niece who is a civilian employee of the Navy, working on contracting/construction projects. She worked 4/10s, from home, prior to C0v1d, and I believe is very good at her job. BUT, based on conversations with her, I also suspect that she gets all of her work done in less than four hours a day, so either her salary needs to be halved OR she needs to be given enough work to fill a complete work day. Whether she does that from home, or in an office, is less important to me than the fact that she is making a full time wage, with benefits, for what is basically a part time job!
See Parkinson’s Law:
https://learningloop.io/glossary/parkinson's-law
If she went into the office, she would not have more work.
I’d say if her work is good and needed that maybe we need to rethink the idea that you must work so many hours a day. She could have coworkers that do less than she does, but take more hours to do so or do the same amount as her but take the full day.
We should maybe pay for actual results and productivity.
I don’t disagree with you but that means that we probably have at least 1/3 more employees than are needed…
When I worked in the private sector, my salary was determined by my productivity so harder work meant higher pay. And people who didn’t produce had no guarantees of continued employment.
Its called piecework, and its great for both company and workers, if you can set it up.
I worked in a metal pressing shop one summer keeping records in the office. All piecework. The press operators had it down to a science with their incentive pay. Some could take long breaks because they still made their counts so efficiently.
One guy worked for fun. The management wondered why a lot of his pay checks never cleared. He stuffed them in his dresser and never cashed them.
Exactly!
In the Fed offices I was familiar with, out of approximately
2o workers only average of 2 would I consider competent
and capable.
The rest usually found a way to finagle out of completing
projects . They required extra time and help. And their
work projects would then be shoved to the workload
of the harder working competent employees. And what
they did actually do…people had to double check -it was
usually inaccurate.
And, since the project was eventually completed….
the department took credit. Everyone. Even the most
incompetent who really did nothing, and caused extra
work for others.
It was usually the employees who had been there the
longest that were the worst.🤬😡
Joke was….it would take an act of Congress to get them fired.
Don’t tell them to come back. If they haven’t been coming in to work let them go. We don’t need people who are not needed.
Well it’s probably a good idea to fire them in person so as to remove their access to everything and escort them out physically.
Actually, the feds require most to be in several days a week in many agencies. And some agencies don’t really have WFH.
There is an old law I think not rule that feds that can TW should do so like one day a week or every two weeks out there to save gas .
This anti TW policy is obvious a hope to get retirements, but doesn’t that just cost us pension money anyway? I guess if they don’t replace the retirees it might do something…
I am not a government employee, but have been a TW for over 20 years, and think it’s a good option to ease road congestion, make housing more affordable, and give people more time back to take care of family matters. If your commute is 2 to 4 hours a day, that’s a lot of time wasted in your car burning gas.
Sigh – acronyms.
What pray tell is a TW?
teleworker
What do you get when you put a senile, corrupt, puppet-president under the Svengali-like control of an inept, pro-nuclear war, rabidly-anti-American shadow government that puts razor wire around the peoples’ White House and Capitol but removes it from the southern border?
You get the Biden administration, of course!
Does anyone think that such an administration will honor either of President-elect Trump’s requests?
God bless you Mr. President we are lucky to have you, sir America is glad to have you on board ,Mr PRESIDENT SIR.
Wouldn’t it have been appropriate and respectful if . . . . after Pres. Trump announced the $100 billion investment and 100,000 jobs coming to the U.S. because of Mr. Son, WHO IS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM, that the people in the room show gratitude with some applause? Instead, dead silence. Seemed rude to me.
Imagine making $125,00-$200,000 and never having to go to work or do any work for 4 years………..
Now times that by 4.2 million workers.
I think Elon and Vivek are on to something!
They still do work – that is if they did work when in the office. Most DC headquarters jobs can be done from home. There are lots of feds that don’t do much all at the office or at home. But those that do work do the same work at home.
I am the most anti-fed employee person you will meet, but that 1% number is not accurate. Feds that work with classified material, courts, law enforcement, parks, museums, etc. are physically at work. Most others are on a hybrid schedule requiring so many days in the office.
That 1% number might be for total number in 40 hours/5 days a week. Even with that there are so many that are requiredto be in person due to the nature of their job it would always be higher than 1%.
Agree, the 1% number is BS. Our side seems to latch on to obviously silly contentions a lot.
Work from home. It’s not a defined term here, so we don’t know if they wake up and go work in the field in a way that they need to be at a designated place at a designated time until a designated time everyday, like punching a virtual time clock, or they have salesman’s hours, where as long as they get adequate results, their time is their own.
Running efficient businesses has become an art form to Elon. With his experience and continued desire to do it right, I’m confident he can differentiate between those that are productive and those that need to start clocking in.
Seems as if we only need 1% of the Gov. workers. No more salaries and no more pensions for 99%.
The “we won’t go back in person” rebels will self-select for termination. Genius.
They’ll self-deport.
It is so very, very encouraging to have our REAL President almost back in office. He’s not even sworn in, but he is effectuating changes almost daily. God Bless this man.
Merchan is about to earn his own wing of the DOJ.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer thug.
“There are estimates that only 1% of federal workers actually go to a workplace, the rest work from home.”
Now would be a good time to replace the locks then.
“There are estimates that only 1% of federal workers actually…” do any meaningful work.
And by that 1% you mean the janitors and cleaning crew, right?
I think Trump should have prepared remarks and limited 3 maybe 4 press questions. Today’s presser droned on for 40 minutes coming full circle back to 2020 Russia, Russia, Russia; instead of blaming the Dems. The questions went on another 40+ minutes. He should leave them wanting more, it was crazy long, I was waiting on Jim Acosta to show up for some ‘Rock-Um-Sock-Um-Robot’ time.
Don’t worry.
They will always want more Trump.
I loved every minute of it! I think the press did too.
cross posted at https://freedomaustralia.freeforums.net/thread/6493/president-trump-answers-press-conference
With the current base line budgeting you could lay off half of your staff and still get the same or an increased amount of funding. THAT is an issue that needs to be addressed as well.
A coherent, enthusiastic president that loves America.
Thank you Sundance for posting the whole presser!
I watched the whole thing and Trump was 1,000 percent right on Target, the whole interview.
A lot of his Rallies were saying the same political “points every speech”, and I did love them, BUT, this PRESSER impressed me greatly! Trump is truely a MASTER at taking questions from the PRESS! I hope the FAKE NEWS media clean up their act. But Trump is coming for you fake media. It’s better that you Fake media UNCONDITONALLY surrender to MAGA (TRUMP TEAM).
Thanks Sundance and Thanks Trump … keep doing what you are doing!
I work as a part-time contractor to a federal agency, and I’ve been a remote worker since the “lock downs” in 2020.
I believe the federal government would save money (according to GAO, $2B is spent on operations and maintenance of government buildings, and $5B is spent to own or LEASE buildings) by keeping the remote worker policy where practical (I spend my day on Excel spreadsheets and Teams meetings), and eliminate the buildings.
I have sent this recommendation to D.O.G.E.
I supply my own broadband, my own utilities (heat/ac), my own office supplies and furniture, etc.
Working remotely, I don’t have to dress up to go to the office, I don’t spend an hour commuting to a building that is uncomfortable, cold and inadequate for my work condition. My co-workers are all over the US; from DC, to OKC, to KS, to TX and FL. Having Teams meetings in a cubicle requires headsets in order to not disturb surrounding workers as one example. (supplied by the agency)
Think of how this could #ShrinkDC by eliminating the majority of the office buildings and their inhabitants!
My work output is measurable as I produce products (Excel workbooks, Power Point slides, Word documents, etc.). There are some people who have to be in an office in order to physically interact with others, but there are many workers such as myself who save taxpayer money by working from home.
I believe there is a huge cost savings to be had by only housing the people who have to physically be in an office, while designating remote, other workers such as myself.
And even with headsets we all hear others speaking into their mic. There’s also the issue of private info.
Says he doesn’t know why it is, his first term everyone was against him, this time everybody wants to get close to him.
Its your COLOGNE, Mr. President! the new “Fight,Fight,Fight” cologne makes even your enemies love you! Lol.
Wow! Son’s investment could create as many as 100,000 new jobs!
That will employ about one tenth of the tech workers Biden imported from asia.
Maybe we can launch an initiative to create an infrastructure to surround all new tech-based businesses with fast food restaurants that specialize in wonton soup or curried goat?
At least THEN some of OUR grossly uneducated offspring can land jobs, albeit minimum wage service industry ones!
In one deal that is more jobs than 4 years of the Biden administration created for Americans. (Because all jobs created under Bidenomics went to non-citizen immigrants.)
Pass the Winnamins!!
Really good press conference and Q/A from President Trump.
A Word from the Lord/Amanda Grace 11/10/2024 Ark of Grace Ministries/Ministry Blog (excerpt).
And thus says the Lord, to the Supreme Court, in this hour, you are a representation of me on this earth. You are a judge. You are a high judge. I expect you to rule and walk in righteousness and to not back down to the threats, for if you do, your seat will rupture and you will lose your seat before the nation. For I require obedience in this hour from those who want to sit in the highest seats of the land. I require it, says the Lord. From their families, I require it. And they will humble themselves in obedience, or they will not serve.
Reminds me of the old joke:
Why do Government employees fight so much on the job?
Because so little is at stake.
What a friend, in a sea of snakes, Abe was.
Dang it. All those feds on the roads is going to snarl up my commute. It was really nice during covid when the traffic was down by 90%.
When the CA government sent people home to work due to Covid the already poor service got even worse. It seems so many working from home now never answer their phones to help the public.
Yes, there are costs to government and commute and parking etc. is a hassle but they KNEW that when THEY CAME LOOKING for that job.
Buckle up buttercup and get your behinds back to work.
I really like the taupe/silver quality of Trump’s hair.
13:37 min:”and people have already come back to us that have deals at 5¢, and 4¢, and one guy had 3¢ on the dollar and they offered to sell it back to us at more money than it cost us to build; substantially, can you believe it?
So they make a deal to buy it for pennies and they call us and say, ‘Do you wanna buy it back? We’ll sell it back to you for 100’s of dollars a foot.”
100’s of dollars… from pennies to 100’s of dollars a foot. We can’t let this take place.“
President Trump, Say their name, Gaul dang it! SAY THEIR NAME!
And post their offers for all to see.
No many Americans know that Masa was born from Korean parents who legally emigrated to Japan. Recall that Japan was such a very homogeneous society that Masa suffered discrimination. The fact that Masa founded SoftBank and became so successful in Japan is an achievement without equal in Japan.
“No” —> “Not” (typo). Btw, “Son” is a Korean family name.
Nothing like embracing who your are! 🤣
“We won on Common Sense.”
Our local SSA office started requiring appointments to be seen, no walk-ins per their notice anymore. They definitely need more staff on site.
I hope our president doesn’t back down on requiring federal workers to actually show up for work. The “work” from home scam has absolutely destroyed the housing market in SW Florida. Prices have been driven so high that ordinary people can no longer afford to buy a house here. Rents have followed suit. I have talked with people working two or three jobs to be able to pay the rent. It’s such a shame. This whole situation was manufactured by the covid government overreach.
I think it’s more that FL has so many people wanting to move there. It’s your turn. They already destroyed VA, NC, GA and are mass moving to TN and SC. They are like locusts.
WFH is the future whether anyone likes it or not. Once the Boomers fully retire or die, the vast majority of the workforce will support work/life balance. There’s also the issue of AI putting so many people out of work resulting in UBI, which will change all our lives and not for the better. Maybe not today or 3 years from now, but we aren’t going to recognize how we live and work sooner than we think.
Well, if someone can actually do a job from home, then someone can do it from his home in Pakistan for a tenth of the cost. WFH for Americans is going away one way or another. The SW Florida housing bubble was caused by the confluence of at least three events.
Boomers retiring all at about the same time.
COVID overreach with draconian intrusion on people’s civil liberties.
So called “investors” flipping properties here.
The deed history on properties can be searched online – it’s public record.
I have seen buyers from all over the world scooping up residential properties here in bundles of 20 0r 30 lots and spinning them off one at a time for double or triple what they paid for them. Not quite so much now, but one or two years ago it was common for there to be 10 or more buyers bidding up every residential property that hit the market. This is not normal and led to the biggest housing bubble ever seen in these parts. It has to stop somehow, and requiring the WFH crown to go back where they came from would be a good start.
so nice to get a taste of hvinf a real Preideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat the re-opening of Notre Dame in Pris
could you delete? That hot mess was never meant to be published!
