A rather remarkable statement from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick puts the Canadian government on notice. If Lutnick is accurately outlining what took place, there’s no way Trump is going to give them a trade deal.
When he is questioned about the U.S-Canada trade agreement collapse, Secretary Lutnick quotes the Canadian govt officials. “I said to him, are you trying to blow this up? and he said, and I quote, “I’m not allowed to say that.“” Lutnick then encapsulates what that response meant.
“They decided for political reasons, domestically, domestic Canada, they’d rather fight with Donald Trump; even if it’s bad for the economy of Canada, for their political ambition to get a certain election,” Lutnick noted. He continued, “now remember, Quebec has the sovereign party was in the lead, so that’s why they came up with this French nonsense. You think the American side talked about how people speak in Quebec? We have a deal with France, we have a deal with Italy, we have a deal with Germany, we don’t care about their language; none of that was true.” WATCH (prompted):

Can we just not buy Canadian? Is it economically and logistically feasible? I’m all for it. I can only assume when President Trump announces leaving the trilateral deal everyone and their mother will be bringing lawsuits. Is Trump perhaps waiting until after the midterms? I don’t know what I don’t know.
Waiting until after midterms makes sense.
Why give the dems something they can attack him with and spin into a campaign commercial?
Especially over something most Americans don’t understand or realize how much Canada has been taking advantage of the current trade relationship.
Your last sentence speaks volumes!! … Americans don’t understand …
It’s just amazing to see in real time how deaf and dumb and easiliy manipulated, whether by China, UK or Obama, the government of Canada is.
It’s stunning, really.
I keep on wondering what the backlash is going to be from Canadian owned businensses that have U.S. subsidiaries. Will Canada go after those businesses for daring to have U.S. subsidiaries?
(asking for input should anyone have an inkling because we’re working with one such company, it’s US subsidiary and any hint of what may come will help in preparing the groundwork to avoid the worst of whatever happens, so any third party ideas would be appreciated.)
The Canadien ruling class just spit in the face of the electorate and the fools will go along. Dumbest people in world history.
Canada leadership is putting their economy in peril to wait and see what the negotiating environment will be after the midterms.
Brookfield (Carney) has $23 billion invested in China. The Canada Pension Plan is 90% invested in Red China. The mayor of the City of Toronto is a Chinese plant. Sundance nailed it!
Carney’s TDS is going to cause the Canadian economy to crash. I wonder if China will bail them out when it does? Yeah, I know the answer to that and so do you.
Praying that the Canadian people who are the sensible ones will break through the chaff and nonsense to let the world know they think Carney is off his rocker.
I think the 40% of Canadians who have their head screwed on straight are screwed by the their leftist leaders and the 60% who follow them and their state controlled media.
There’s an article in the “Toronto Star” Newspaper with comments that is hilarious for the chutzpah.

Carney blew-up the deal to damage President Trump in November. Carney isn’t even up for reelection until October 15, 2029!
“Next General Election: Scheduled for 46th Canadian federal election on or before October 15, 2029.
Term Length: Canadian federal rules set a maximum of four years between general elections, though an election can be called sooner if the government loses a confidence vote or calls an early election.”
All western governments seem to be operating on nothing but domestic left-wing political consumption at great risk/peril to their own people right now.
I just love that the Trump Administration doesn’t play the “diplomatic games” that are taught at Georgetown and The Kennedy School at Harvard.
How many lifetime bureaucrats at Foggy Bottom spit out their champaign and dropped their cucumber sandwich (triangle cut, no crust) when hearing Lutnick speak the absolute truth and call out his counterpart? LOL. They are the best.
This is how 30 million out of 41 million Canadians must feel:

Terminal TDS, Stage 5.
Maybe even higher…
Foolishly cynical on their part.
