Today is officially Super Tuesday in primary voting. Consider this an open discussion thread specific to what is taking place at the precincts where you are voting.
Specifically, it is interesting to note the intensity -or lack thereof- of the voting base in your neighborhood, town, city or hamlet. What is happening and do you feel a sense of involvement permeating or is general complacency the status quo? In every election cycle your ground reports are the most accurate gauge of the sense of the voting base. This one is important.
For the Republican primary, 874 of 2,429 total delegates will be awarded today. The winning candidate, almost certain to be Donald Trump, ultimately needs 1,215 delegates to capture the nomination.
President Trump has already won 244 delegates from the early voting contests (Via AP), so MAGA -represented by Trump- needs roughly 1,000 more to capture the nomination and dispatch this nonsense with Nikki Haley.
For the Democrats, 1,421 delegates are up for grabs representing roughly a third of all ordinary delegates. The Super Delegates, who control the outcome, are decided later at the convention….. which I predict will be the real test of what the Democrats have in mind. Remember, Biden needs 1,969 delegates to officially win the nomination, and/or then pass the baton to the ultimate candidate (strongly plausible).
After MAGA exposed the RNC “splitter scheme” in California, the CA Republican Party then changed their rules allowing the candidate who captures over 50% of the vote to be the one who will receive all of the state’s 169 Republican delegates. With the Republican primary as a two-person race between Trump and Haley, Trump is likely to win all of California’s delegates – which is good, because we need to grind Haley into the pulp of irrelevance. Let her campaign as a Democrat on behalf of the Deep State – ::spit::.
With a for sale sign on her back, Haley has been obtuse about her plans after today. Many traditional pollsters expect her to quit if she is crushed. She has won only Washington DC, which is a story of sunlight by itself, so Haley will have a hard time trying to make an argument for continuing. But she’s a teeth talker, so who knows what that clenched and insufferable creature will do. Again – ::spit::.

Actually, I early voted on Friday as I have to work today and my sister had to borrow my car. At the early voting on Friday, the ladies at the registration table said it had been a slow day and I was the only one there. However, from about 10 of the members of the local GOP said they had voted on Friday, while another 10 or 15 people told me they were voting today.
We are a small county at about 20,000 total population, with only about 1/2 registered, and the majority of those registered R – amazing, isn’t it? The D’s only come out at night and don’t broadcast their presence around here 🙂

Me, too. We vote with absentee ballots, have since 2016, and have never had a problem with “no Republican ballots available” or misprinted ballots rejected by tabulators, or election workers telling me to use a sharpie, when the ballot says right on it “black ball point pen”.

I live on the Texas coast and today was very busy…. you actually had to wait in line … which is odd for a primary. Everyone was very serious as well. Oddly, (I know all the folks that work the polls) they said they prefer and wish more people would vote early.

I’m in middle TN as well. Our early vote count was 7% of registered voters. The last time the number was 7% here, the total turnout was roughly 15%.
It’s a primary, so I expect low turnout, but the school board elections should drive more folk to the polls.
When I actually early voted, there were more poll workers than voters.
I agree that the school board should drive turnout. Unfortunately, in my North Carolina county, it was the hardest race to find any good candidate info on.
I’m in East TN and a small county. Voting was very light when I went at 9 but my husband went later around 12 and had to wait inline. Chuck Fleishmann was on the ballot in another district which did not exclude me getting a text from his campaign yesterday telling me he ‘stands with Trump’. My response back was that he was a rino and almost always votes with the democrats.

I am also in western nc. My husband and I went to vote & there was just one older couple voting. I thought perhaps it was due to it being lunch hour.
I did not vote for some of the Trump endorsed candidates- anyone in NC who aligns with Tillis or Berger or anything UNC chapel hill will never get my vote.
I cannot wait to vote for Tillis’s primary opponent in ‘26.
I despise Chuck Edwards as well as Tim Moore. We were in Edwards district before the new districting maps. I voted against Moore…he is just a thom Tillis offspring.

Ditto on Tillis and I have to agree that, while Edwards seemed to be great at the state level, he’s been a disappointment in DC, seeming to just go along with the establishment. While I think he’ll win the primary, I voted for the other guy if only just to send him a message. One more note, if the old D state supremes hadn’t interfered with the redistricting, we’d probably have both Edwards and Cawthorne in DC.
Texas. Just got back from voting. A huge turn out for the location I use. Practically all were cheerfully enthusiastic. You could literally smell MAGA in the air.

It’s obviously not foolproof ultimate security, as Sundance even mentioned once. It’s to make it one step harder for perps and bots to easily grab the material. Yes there are ways to find it in case you missed the ancient article. But like simple locks that could be overcome with effort, it keeps honest people honest.

Machine printed paper ballots are a huge problem. If you mean printed out by the Ballot Marking Device (BMD), you have no knowledge of whether what the machine recorded is the same as what it printed. Even if it is printed out blank from a machine for you to fill in by pen, there’s still no transparency – they say they invalidate your Colorado mail-in ballot when you vote in person, but these are the same people who say you need a machine to fill in ONE OVAL for you because people might not know how to fill in an oval correctly.
In Colorado, this morning I watched a whole lot of people choose a machine to fill out ONE OVAL for them rather than fill it in with a pen, because doing it on a tablet “sounds easier”. (It’s not – it takes an election judge standing by you to explain the system to you to teach you how to fill out ONE OVAL.) It’s not that people were lazy – they really didn’t know which system was less fraudulent (partly because either system could be used to steal the whole election by itself) and they felt like it must be a good thing to end up with a piece of actual paper to put in the slot.
These were relatively active and informed voters – the handful of Coloradans who actually made the effort to vote in-person rather than by mail-in ballot. I can’t blame people for being discouraged because they still have little to no transparency in their voting system.
My guess is around 100 in-person voters today, at that polling place, which is 1/6 of the polling places in one of the biggest counties in Colorado. In-person voters are a tiny percentage of Colorado voters, but are the best gauge of participation, because even as a complete amateur looking at our voter rolls I can find all kinds of blatant problems. They are clearly mailing (or just filling out) ballots to nonexistent people.
In summary, today’s primary participation looked pretty similar to last fall’s property tax and city council election – which in a real world wouldn’t draw many (20% would be good) real voters, but supposedly we had over 40% turnout.
To clarify: I’m not saying there is low turnout here; my guess is it’s relatively good turnout of the real voters. The point is with mail-in ballots it is impossible to make more than wild guesses about turnout.
Today our state (IL) has a bill in committee to just mail ballots out universally, no applications to vote required. 😡 There should be an outcry from MAGA. (yes there is MAGA in IL). 102 counties and 6 are blue.
At precinct, to State level, there have been MANY changes implemented since 2020 and even 2022.
While some have sat on butts griping “nothing has changed, and they will just steal it again!” others have been hard at work, attacking election integrity from different angles.

Just left the polling place near Raleigh, NC. Poll worker said it had been busy there. We waited in line to get our ballot. Steady stream of people coming and going.

From what I’ve read, it’s “semi-closed”, meaning that, while you have to be registered with a party to vote, someone registered as unaffiliated can pick which party’s ballot they want. So I guess a registered DEM would have to change registration one way or the other to vote R. When I voted this morning, after giving the official my ID, they asked if I wanted an R ballot, so I assume they were looking at my registration. I wish I would have asked them to explain the process.
If you are unaffiliated, you can choose to vote in the Republican or Democrat primary. I am Aunaffiliated so they asked which ballot I wanted and said Republican. I Dem cannot vote in the Republican and a Republican cannot vote in the Democrat. I have lived here since 2005 so I know what I am talking about.

I have not trusted Harmeet Dhillon not Mike Davis since this whole scam was exposed (and thankfully reversed) but it appears they are both back in the good graces of the MAGA movement, which I don’t really understand? And wasn’t Dhillon the attorney who hung Kari Lake out to dry after the 2022 steal in Arizona?
It just feels like everyone has ulterior motives and hidden agendas and I worry what that will mean in a second Trump term, considered how badly he was shived in the first one! (Yes, Judas Pence – I AM talking to you!!)

I think they will sort the ballots without even opening them, then open and count the Democrat ones, then count out 0.98 times the number of Democrat ballots from the Republican pile, open and count those. Just another close election, folks, nothing to see here.

Both schiff and Steve Garvey are running for both Senate races. They are running for the full 6 year term race and they are running for the partial term race for the remainder fo the late feinstein senate seat.
Looks close, with Schiff / Garvey only 5 points apart, but candidates 3&4 are Dems – add all Dem votes together and it’s about a 20 point differential for the general.
I’m with you- I look at the so-called MAGA candidates endorsed by President Trump in NC and clinch my teeth! I can’t vote for these ppl who are aligned with the Swamp! Several have been wallowing around in the muck with the likes of Thom Tillis and Phil Berger for years! South Central Oklahoma here.. husband and I voted around 9 this morning. There were no vehicles in the parking lot as we arrived and only 1 vehicle was in the lot after we voted.
The women (3) and 1 man inside making sure that people are registered to vote with their ID’S and monitoring the election ballots going into the machine stated they hoped people remembered today was voting day!
So I took that as there hasn’t been a large turnout.

Steady voting in my precinct last Thursday during early voting in The Woodlands, TX. I know several of the poll workers and they all said they had been very busy every day of early voting. Haven’t been by any voting location today (1/5/23).

The early voting turnout for the county was reported at around 11%. Other than Trump, I’m concerned that we get rid of Truitt as the State Superintendent of Public Education. A low turnout may not produce that.

I’m working a precinct in south Charlotte, NC…so far it seems the Republicans have the advantage. The vast majority of independent voters are choosing to vote the republican ballot today.
Hopefully 99.9% of ’em are voting Trump, not H.
I voted in a purple precinct of Henrico County. There were only 20 people there. Everyone I saw asked for Republican ballots. Outside the polling place, there were a handful of Republican volunteers and no Dem volunteers. Unexpectedly I was interviewed by a local TV station. I think there is zero chance my interview will make it onto TV as I identified border security (including massive deportations), terminating the export of American wealth to foreigners and preventing stolen elections. When the interviewer asked if I thought the 2020 election was stolen, my response was “of course”. I can’t imagine that it will be aired this evening.

Central VA here near Williamsburg, didn’t think location was open, no signs, only couple cars in lot at 9:30am. Was told turnout was light so far. ID checked, 1 other voter,2 came in as I left. Disappointed in low turnout.
My daughter (who is voting for the first time) and I will have the pleasure of sticking it Jena Soros here in Colorado. I’ll post later with any observations.

Virginia North of Richmond – voted at lunch. Not crowded no lines but a steady stream of 2-3 walking in as 2-3 walking out.
Interesting side note, while there, a first time voter came in; our poll workers always announce first time voters, everyone claps a few congratulations are said, nice little tradition. Anyway thought it worth mentioning a first time voter – voting in a primary.
