When these types of statements come out attributed to intelligence officials, the first question should always be: who is the intended audience? EVERYONE hears it, but who to whom, specifically, are they shouting? I would venture that the most obvious first choice is Iran.
I calms any fears the Iranian government and the Iranian people may have that bombs might fall at any minure in Tehran. If there IS a direct connection, it should also be enough misdirection to stop any efforts Iran was making to find a leaker/agent, and may even allow an agent to burrow even deeper. On a broader view, it calms world fears of a US/Iran war being imminent. It also sets up a mental separation line between Iran and the Houthis, casting the Houthis as independent agents. The US on Friday began retaliatory strikes in the Middle East after three American service members were killed in Jordan on Sunday.
The strikes began in Iraq and Syria, US officials confirmed, according to ABC News.
Iran previously warned Joe Biden it would retaliate if he responded to the deadly drone attack on American service members.
The airstrikes employed more than 125 precision munitions and US military forces struck more than 85 targets, according to a statement released by CENTCOM.

The strikes come after Joe Biden gave Iran plenty of time to prepare for a ‘multi-tiered response’ after more than 160 attacks on US military bases in Iraq, Syria and Jordan.
Three U.S. Servicemembers were killed and were 34 injured with 8 requiring to be transported to another location for treatment. The troops were reportedly in a tent structure sleeping when they were attacked by a UAS, or unmanned aircraft system, late Saturday night.
The three servicemembers killed in action were all members of the 718th Engineer Company, a reservist unit out of Fort Moore, Georgia.
The Pentagon released the names of three deceased servicemembers:

Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, GA

The last time Joe Biden responded to a deadly attack on American soldiers, he ended up droning children in Afghanistan.
Biden killed an entire family just so he could look like he ‘fought back’ after a suicide bomber killed 13 US service members in Kabul during his botched withdrawal.

I guess if the Israelis launched strikes aimed at all major bridges, damns, ports, oil refineries, oil fields, train marshalling yards, communication centers, scientific labs and research centers and especially the government offices and residences of the Iranian leadership, even if the US provided the arms and delivery systems as well as targeting data, the US could not be held responsible using the Iranian model.
But such a strike would set Iran back 100 years and set the stage for a massive revolt against Obama’s friends and allies in Islam.
Iran’s response to such a strike would wipe Israel off the map.
That would be the correct response. “Our greatest ally” with which we have no treaty is more trouble than its worth.
