RFK Jr. recently spoke of internal polling showing that his third-party independent run would pull more votes from Trump than Joe Biden. Many people refused to believe the statement and demanded to see the polling. Well, here it is:
You will notice the Joe Biden percentage of voters (38%) doesn’t change when Robert Kennedy Jr. is added to the equation as a third-party independent candidate. However, the Trump support drops from 40% to 38%, essentially wiping out the lead that President Trump would hold in a general election over Joe Biden.
Given the intellectually honest assessment that RFK Jr., as an independent run, could never win the general election, it may annoy some people to accept his decision to run as an independent only carries one motive – to reduce the Trump vote. However, as much as you may not want to accept that reality, the data is clear – and it makes sense.
Many right-leaning or politically homeless Trump voters have spent a great deal of time celebrating the positions of RFK Jr. and projecting a positive opinion toward him. After thinking positively about him for so long, having to accept that RFK Jr. may not be as decent, honorable and/or altruistic in his intentions can be a painful admission. I get it; but the reality of the situation doesn’t change.
At CTH we accept things as they are, not as we would wish them to be. Cognitive dissonance is not appreciated here, and the reality is that RFK Jr. has a large following of supporters within the MAGA-hood. He has been talked-up for almost a year.
RFK Jr is one of the most popular people on Rumble, and all of the content containing him is very well viewed and received. It factually makes sense that some of Trump’s support would transfer to RFK Jr. given the nature of the political climate in the United States. I’m sure that once Trump’s team review their own independent data, we will likely see a shift in tone from Trump toward RFK Jr.
Here’s the bitter pill to swallow. RFK Jr. has already admitted that if he changes from Dem to Indy, he will hurt Trump more than Biden. So, if RFK Jr. does actually change from Dem to Indy, his intention is to pull from Trump’s support and assist Biden. That’s the reality of the situation.

I accept that RFK Jr. is going to try and support Joe Biden by pulling votes away from Donald Trump. After all, he is a Kennedy.

That’s because a large portion of Trump “supporters” don’t actually support Trump — they just can’t stand the thought of another Democrat administration, regardless of who the Democrat is. You can see that in the favorable/unfavorable ratio, where Trump is net 16 points UNfavorable to Biden’s net 17 points UNfavorable. In other words, almost as many people don’t like Trump as don’t like Biden. Those people are looking for someone to like, and RFKJr fills that void with net 7 points favorable. Trump will win the “anybody but Biden” cohort if Biden is the only other choice, but not if people can choose someone other than Biden AND Trump.

The potential to kick his negatives a lot higher is there, but it is not clear to me who benefits, Kennedy or Trump. Historically, third party candidates poll well early, but fade late.

I think it will take time to see how it shakes out. Cornell West and No labels will be factors. Some RFK voters switching to Trump once they realize that RFK will not win. But it makes it too close for comfort for me. An alternative theory is that RFK wants a place in the Trump administration and this gives him leverage. All we can say for certain at this point is that one poll by Zogby shows RFK Jr. pulls more votes from Trump than from Biden in the general election. The Zogby poll has a 3.2 pp margin of error, and the information on representative sample sizes was not included in the publicly released memo to Tony Lyons.
I trust McLaughlin’s internal polling for Trump much more than I do Zogby’s for RFK Jr.

Also note that RFK Jr’s favorable/unfavorable rating at 40/33 is currently positive, while all the other candidate’s ratings are underwater.

However, the “nostalgic fantasy” that I grew up in was inhabited by men whose examples instilled in me a sense that there were things bigger than me and altered my notion of things, i.e., this nation. Perhaps the man whom I used to bale hay with each summer’s telling and re-telling of sleeping in late one morning before being blown off the deck by an explosion as he ran to battle stations aboard the USS Arizona changed me. Or maybe it was my Scoutmaster who raced across Germany with Patton’s Third Army in his Sherman tank that did it. Then again, it could have been Mr. Joe, another farmer whom I worked for, who landed on multiple islands in the South Pacific before finally experiencing Iwo Jima and coming home with the scars for doing it. Most likely, it was Dad, who landed at Inchon when I was still a tiny baby in the backwoods of Tennessee. Because of these, and others, I have a very good understanding of what it took and who did what/gave what to give me the opportunities to have and do all that I have experienced in this nation. As a veteran, I too have some “skin” in the game.
You are correct and from my experience, you generally always are in your comments here. I agree that resolve and will are severely lacking in our nation and while I believe with you that they should emerge naturally, I’m not sure there are enough people with an appreciation of the cost that was required for their opportunity to “be here” for that to organically happen these days. I’m not sure if most will fight for anything since we’ve become a nation of entitled, pampered, snot-nosed, crybabies, who are unworthy at their best.

The first alarm bell went off when I saw Zogby as the pollster. He is a known Trump hater, and anyone who doesn’t believe that infects his polls is kidding himself.
Today a poll came out that showed Trump with a 3% lead over Biden in a two way race. When RFK Jr was added to the mix, he received 14% of the vote, and Trump beat Biden by 4%.
So let’s see more polls other than a candidate’s own internal polls.
President Trump leads Biden by 13% with Independents, and he lost by 13% in 2020. I seriously doubt that any Independents in Trump’s camp is going to now vote for far left RFK Jr except for the usual NeverTrumpers who were never going to vote for Trump anyway.
Bottom line is the intent.

Still I like his medical freedom, anti shot positions. I like his legal work that cleaned up the Hudson River from polluters. I liked his father. I read his Fauci book. A must read. I think he should run the CDC or NIAID or N HS.

Many polls could be considered election interference. The crooked pollsters must keep it close to allow for the steal. I find it hard to believe that Biden is anywhere close to President Trump considering the economy, the open border, dementia, energy policy and weaponization of government.
Kennedy has nasty baggage with his first wife when she divorced him for a 5 year affair with a young babysitter for the family. When it becomes general knowledge (and it will), it will not play well with suburban housewives or women in general. The affair was well documented as part of the divorce.
