There are 12 Democrats and 19 Republicans in the Texas Senate. The majority of the article votes were 16 to 14 in favor of acquittal [SEE HERE].
As reflected throughout the impeachment trial, the majority of the accusations came from establishment “Bush” Republicans in Texas who hold tenuous power over the state Republican apparatus. All of the Democrats in the Texas Senate were more than willing to support the backroom Republican effort. However, attorney Tony Buzbee did a masterful job deconstructing the rumors and innuendo that surrounded the majority of the allegations.
By the end of the two week impeachment trial, the Republicans in Texas were too exposed to maintain their original intent to remove Paxton. The truth overwhelmed the false GOPe narrative, and that created a problem for the Texas Republicans who are, for all intents and purposes, identical to Texas Democrats. This is one of the reasons why national Democrats are so confident they can turn Texas blue in a short period of time.
Remember, Democrats want power – Republicans want money. The events in Texas are a case study in this dynamic. Most of the Texas Republicans don’t care what happens ideologically, as long as they can be compensated for allowing the Democrats to dictate the state outcomes of political power. There is an awakening happening in Texas amid the base voters who continue to elect professional Republicans; however, it is unknown whether the uniparty dynamic has become too systemic to change.
Personally, after visiting several areas of Texas, I do not see much hope for them to remain a reliably red state. The only thing that might save Texas are the conservative Latinos who don’t want the social issues that accompany Democrat control. The non minority, or white Republican voters in Texas, have been gaslit by the Republican political class (Bush Inc.) for so long, they cannot see what is looming over the horizon.
The truth doesn’t care about your feelings. What I described is the reality in Texas, and it’s exactly the reason why I continue to warn residents of Florida about following the agenda of the DeSantis tribe.
Ken Paxton was interviewed by Tucker Carlson this week and will broadcast next week.
TEXAS – The Texas Senate voted to acquit Ken Paxton on all 16 articles of impeachment. A total of 21 senators had to approve at least one article for Paxton to be convicted and removed from office. Separately, senators also voted to dismiss four other articles that Paxton faced.
Paxton’s wife, Sen. Angela Paxton, was allowed to be present but could not vote on his fate or attend deliberations. (vote tally)
WASHINGTON – […] Immediately after Paxton was acquitted on the 16 articles, members of the chamber successfully voted to dismiss four remaining articles of impeachment that were held back to be considered at the end of the trial.
Paxton also faces a federal investigation, a state bar complaint for seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election and a whistleblower lawsuit.
Paxton was suspended as attorney general in May, when the state’s Republican majority House of Representatives voted to impeach him over allegations he commandeered the state’s law-enforcement powers to help a donor facing federal investigation. The donor, real-estate investor Nate Paul, is alleged to have helped pay for Paxton’s home renovations and facilitate an extramarital affair. Neither Paul nor Laura Olson, the alleged mistress of Paxton, testified at the trial.
In a statement, Paxton said the truth prevailed on Saturday and thanked state senators for their votes.
“Most importantly, I want to thank my amazing wife Angela, who I love dearly,” Paxton said. “She is a brave woman of deep faith, unquestionable integrity, and the light of our entire family.” Angela Paxton is a Republican senator who has been present during the trial but couldn’t vote under the Senate impeachment rules. Primary the two Bushie traitors and anyone voting yea in the lower house.
if there is a path to recall in TX, they should be doing that immediately. why wait for a primary?
The primaries are less than five months away.
March 5th
Take this as more good news. The Machine functions on its own time-table. We’re free-thinking independent particles of it with a deep conscience which drive us to seek some actions which are actually taking place through all the other particles around us.
We just go about our business cheerfully and happily as wily as serpents and when the Machine starts changing you’ll recognize it.
We’re in a Culture War, and as we continue to win the battles on the ground thereby changing the character of the Machine our vote will reflect this. The voting outcome is a reflection not a determining element. Fortunately we have a much more crucial form of expression than our votes, THAT’S HOW WE CONDUCT OURSELVES. That’s how the democrats did it (in a negative way), it doesn’t happen overnight.
The conditioning effect of society at large is a force we’re not familiar with, we’re the impulse of that force – the ripple effect of a good person is awesome.
So “Bloom where you are and pull out the weeds.”
Uep hunter biden is a weed that is smoked by joe. Use by joe and his fellow weeds.
Unfortunately, there is not a path to recall in Texas. Gee, I wonder why??
Good bill to introduce as an amendment to the TX Constitution.
No recall option in Texas. Another way the incumbents secure power.
democrats and republican rinos are the same
they both want money and power
In my opinion it would behoove us
to not separate them in terms of ideology, etc.
It’s never too “systemic” to change (change is the one constant in the universe, woe unto those who try to prevent it). I can easily see both parties going down in this mess, and leaving their stain on History.
designating pols as d and r is a pointless waste of time and energy
it simplifies things greatly to define people as either good or evil
I don’t disagree but enough Republicans have fled blue states for Florida over the past five years that flipping Florida blue will be nearly impossible. Not due to anything neocon Ron has done, just due to migration.
Same could be said of Texas that has also undergone mass migration from blue states.
Add on all the filth flowing over the borders voting dem on fake ballots could be a problem.
And enough Democrats have fled blue states to flip the vote. They move, gripe about what/why they left, and then continue to vote blue. It NEVER fails. I hope Florida is very careful and has plans to do something about that problem. Do not ever trust a Democrat transplant.
There are a bunch of the Leftarded persuasion that have come on down here from Illinois and from Commiefornia. Don’t underestimate them. I expect even more Chiraqis now that cash bail has been eliminated.
“The only thing that might save Texas are the conservative Latinos who don’t want the social issues that accompany Democrat control.”
If that was gonna happen it would have by now.
We’re screwed, especially if we continue to treat ethnicity as race.
It’s never “too systemic” to change (change is the one constant in the universe, woe unto those who try to prevent it).
I can easily see both parties going down in this mess and leaving their stain on History.
Texas native here. Latinos will vote for the money over social values. They rose to power on the wave of La Raza and its communist promises of free Anglo money.
My mom taught school in the poorest of the Mexican-American neighborhoods. NOBODY spoke English in the home. Every single mother was on welfare for life, sometimes 2 generations in one household. They never fed their kids breakfast (my single mom of 3 would bring milk and sweet rolls for the kids for b’fast). Incest, alcoholism, and other kinds of abuse were common.
When they started to campaign for political power, it wasn’t for equal rights in employment, education, etc. It was always for free money. ALWAYS.
And that’s why they are still behind the blacks in almost every area.
Until there are REAL consequences for this sort of stuff, it won’t stop. It will just happen more. Why shouldn’t it?
Same with the nation. Keep allowing people that do this to just laugh and walk away and you will get 10X more of it.
We know what our Founding fathers would have done with these people…….
If only we could bring back tar and feathering and riding these traitors to the US Constitution out on a rail.
We must take every means necessary to call them out and PRIMARY these traitors (Dems and GOPe) out of office. Even the Lame Stream Media knows they are pushing false witness. It is just a matter of time that they all are called out. As long as we continue to call them out everywhere and at all times.
Who were the two Republicans who voted to convict on some of the charges???? Texans, mark and avoid them in the future….
Kelly Hancock and Rober Nichols
Destroy their political careers. Don’t let them rest.
Everyone has skeletons in the closet. Take a good hard look.
That is pretty disappointing.
“I can promise the Biden Administration the following: buckle up because your lawless policies will not go unchallenged. We will not allow you to shred the constitution and infringe on the rights of Texans. You will be held accountable.”
-AG Paxton
Get em, Mr. Paxton, and bring hell with you!
The uniparty reason for this BS.
he MUST bring a sledgehammer down on them all.
start issuing arrest warrants Monday AM open of business. and demand the NG and citizens on the border be deputized. and start removing federal fascist agents.
“This trial has displayed for the country to see, a partisan fight within the Republican Party.”
-Tony Buzbee
Yep. There it is.
Because the so-called Republican Party are not, for the most part true Republicans/ conservatives, MAGA. We need to call each and every one of them out, including Ronna Romney McDaniel. And REMOVE them from public office.
I wish the people of Texas really would make The Bush Family feel so unwelcome, so much so that they would dig up Pappy or Poppy or whatever the hell his nickname was and take him with them when they leave.
Take Jim Baker, also!
Remember him? When he came over to visit President Bush that morning and the President asked Baker what was the plan for the day, where would they be going, that Baker told him they were going to heaven. So, then President Bush passed away that day but James Baker did not go! And Secretary Baker seemed to think that was a real nice little story.
A bunch of damn creeps that don’t belong in Texas.
Maybe, just maybe my two phone calls helped my Senator. He did vote correct to Acquit!
I called 10 Senators on Thursday. My State Senator Lois Kolkhorst is a Conservative and I knew she would do the right thing and vote to acquit. I told the “other” Senators, who I was where I reside in Texas AND that I had watched bits and pieces of the trial and that there was no there, there. OR to translate to “Texan” ALL HAT, NO CATTLE.
Most offices answered and were cordial and said they would relay the message!! The big cities are BLUE (apparently) but the rural areas –not so much. I live 200 miles from border and RGV seems to be going purple/red i.e. Mayra Flores, Bianca for Texas.
THANKS
The Texas house must be purged. A good House cleaning, as it were.
Yes, I agree! Them that started this needs to be sent back home to the real world! James 1: 5-8
Wisdom is needed much in our world, and only if we would humble ourselves and ask our Father,
we would receive!!! Many of our so called leaders are blind and cannot hear, and think they know,
but fail to know period! Leaders need our Prayers!
They are not blind and deaf to their Globalist Masters; that is who financially supports them.
They are blind and deaf to the Word of God; to truth, to the US Constitution. All for $$$$$ and power.
Video of intoxicated drunkard Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan in session
Hat Tip: AG Ken Paxton
Texas State Rep. Calls for House Clown Dade Phelan to “Step Down” After Acquittal of AG Ken Paxton on All Articles of Impeachment
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/09/texas-state-rep-calls-house-speaker-dade-phelan/
He certainly made a fool of himself. BTW, Brian Harrison has called for Phelan to resign immediately.
Is he vaxxcinated? That looks more like a stroke than being drunk. Did they do an alcohol test? Doesn’t really matter, the POS needs to go.
No. That is DRUNK. TRUST FUND KID NO CONSEQUENCES DRUNK.
ASAP !!!!!
Here’s the disgusting statement from the corrupt and fake Republican Speaker of the House. He is worse than a RINO and must be a Democrat in disguise.
Texas Speaker of the House Dade Phelan:
“Over the last two weeks, the Texas House Board of Managers provided the Texas Senate and the people of Texas extensive evidence of Ken Paxton’s corruption, deception and self-dealing. It is extremely unfortunate that after hearing and evaluating this evidence, the Texas Senate chose not to remove him from office. Moreover, I find it deeply concerning that after weeks of claiming he would preside over this trial in an impartial and honest manner, Lt. Governor Patrick would conclude by confessing his bias and placing his contempt for the people’s House on full display. To be clear, Patrick attacked the House for standing up against corruption. His tirade disrespects the Constitutional impeachment process afforded to us by the founders of this great state. The inescapable conclusion is that today’s outcome appears to have been orchestrated from the start, cheating the people of Texas of justice.
This impeachment was set in motion because Ken Paxton requested millions of taxpayer dollars to settle a lawsuit brought by conservative, senior employees who Paxton himself recruited to his office. These brave individuals were willing to sacrifice their reputations and careers to fight against the misconduct they witnessed, which included abuse of power, corruption, allegations of bribery, and allowing Nate Paul to act as the de facto Attorney General of Texas.
The House General Investigating Committee’s subsequent investigation into the merits of the settlement produced more than enough damning evidence to warrant impeachment. The impeachment process exists not to punish the offender, but to determine whether they have abused their power so egregiously that they are unfit for office and their removal is in the best interest of the state. It is unfortunate that the outcome of this process will ultimately relinquish control of the state’s top law enforcement agency to an individual who, I believe, clearly abused his power, compromised his agency and its employees, and moved mountains to protect and benefit himself.
The Senate’s refusal to remove Ken Paxton from office is, however, not the end of this matter. Ken Paxton is the subject of multiple other lawsuits, indictments and investigations. If new facts continue to come out, those who allowed him to keep his office will have much to answer for.
I extend my utmost thanks to the House Board of Managers and their legal team for their diligent work on this matter, and to each of the 121 House Members who bravely acted in the best interest of this state by voting to advance the articles of impeachment. It was a difficult vote to take, but not a difficult decision. And unlike others, they chose principles over politics. I stand with them in full support of their decision and recognize the sacrifices they made in the name of doing what is right. Because of them, Texans had the ability to hear the evidence in a public trial, as the founders of this great state intended.”
Phelan did this out of spite… and to cover for the fact that he is a DRUNK! As soon as Ken Paxton called for him to resign (after his drunken display on the House floor) then Phelan ordered up a phony impeachment of Ken Paxton.
The process is the punishment. This is only one skirmish in an ongoing battle:
The Senate’s refusal to remove Ken Paxton from office is, however, not the end of this matter. Ken Paxton is the subject of multiple other lawsuits, indictments and investigations. If new facts continue to come out, those who allowed him to keep his office will have much to answer for.
Prick.
BTW just looking at Texas State Senate – they needed 2/3 -like 21 out of 31 to convict -got only 14 for conviction BUT AS USUAL it seems that , the 12 Dems there voted as a block to CONVICT . Can not one them ever put their conscious over party loyalty – apparently not. AND of course , as always , a couple of “whatever” Republicans crossed over to vote with them to convict … AT whatever level of Government , it seems that this pattern is always followed ….
Yes, because they are not Republicans, not Conservatives. They do the bidding of their Donors, the Soros gang and the NWO.
They ALL need to be primaried. Good luck with that, considering the rampant voter fraud, as well as the ignorant citizenry.
The Gardener of gardeners will cut the Bushies down and throw them into the pit of hell.
Meanwhile, Paxton must be the true conservative Texans’ vehicle of revenge.
.
It is true that we Republican voters in Texas have been much too naive and have been fooled time and again by lying Rinos claiming to be conservative. However, from what I see, Texas republicans are pretty much MAGA republicans. In the last several election cycles, the Democrats have been dead certain that Texas was flipping over into their cabal of blue states. Remember Wendy Davis? How about Beto 1.1, Beto 1.2, and Beto 1.3? It hasn’t happened yet and in my opinion it will not happen anytime soon. I think when folks fly into Texas, they generally hang around the cities where the airports are. It could be educational for them to maybe rent a car and drive out into the state. Do you not realize how many “small towns” there are in this big state?
This whole impeachment thing is going to totally blow up in their faces…it already has. Our naivety is no more. I think our state primaries next year are going to very interesting. They have blown their cover.
Thank you.
Noticing lots of doomsayers on this thread attempting to rain on the Paxton victory parade and destroy it before it has a chance to energize anyone even for a day.
I am far away in blueMA and have respected AG Paxton ever since he started appearing on the WarRoom. I think I also sent him a small donation.
MAGA is everywhere including past our borders (what’s left of them).
God bless AG Paxton and Texas MAGA warriors!
If Texas isn’t reliably blue in the next election then goodbye America….
Kind of a double negative there…
I can only hope this was a wish for Texas to remain reliably red. 😉
The next paragraph in Ken Paxton’s statement after where it is cut off here is
“The sham impeachment coordinated by the Biden Administration with liberal House Speaker Dade Phelan and his kangaroo court has cost taxpayers millions of dollars, disrupted the work of the Office of Attorney General and left a dark and permanent stain on the Texas House.”
As Andrew Breitbart would have said, “War.”
I have felt certain that the Rich Men north of Richmond had been controlling the strings on this thing, and there you have it. Can you imagine the threats and bribes that have come down from DC to our Texas lawmakers. And yet in the end, we had enough good people with the integrity and courage to do the right thing. I am today very proud of my state and I think that we will look back to this as very major blow to the Swamp. Old Joe’s handlers must be having a very bad day today, cause now they went and got Mr. Paxton really pissed-off.
I too, am proud of Texas BUT much work to do because my State Rep Todd Hunter (Corpus Christi), is one of the dirty dozen and voted to block or not bring to the floor many pieces of legislation that should pass easily in RED Texas. I put him on notice that I will work to ensure his defeat if he runs again!! He is a disgrace along with the other RINOS, and there are plenty that need to be voted out !!
I would ask you to start looking around your district and find someone MAGA, smart, etc to run against him. Then FUND HIM/HER.
For sure, if you don’t the RINOs will recruit a slug to offer you as an alternative. We need to start looking around and recruiting OURSELVES.
We are so pleased he was acquitted. This is a question that never seems to be addressed. Always wondered about his looks. Had he ever had a stroke or does he have what you call “A tired Eye”. What happened to him. Half of his face is sideways.
He has a glass eye. It used to be harder to tell.
I don’t know what happened to cause him to lose his eye.
The only thing I could find was at Wikipedia:
“At the age of twelve, Paxton nearly lost an eye in a game of hide-and-seek; a misdiagnosis led to long-term problems with his vision. As a result, his good eye is green; his damaged one, brown and droopy. He further injured his eye while in college.”
Thank you.. it is never discussed and wish there was more info on what happened with his eye and injury in college. You wd think a plastic surgeon could help in someway with the Droopiness. Very sad. Wonder if Tucker will address it. He should because I am sure many people ask about it
Dwelling on a physical difference would be rather rude and immature.
By the way, Attorney General of Texas, Ken Paxton, has a beautiful wife and family.
Thank you, God for justice being served after the snakes were unearthed.
Tony Buzbee was a YUGE factor. Slashed and burned, he did!
They had mentioned bringing defamation lawsuits. Sending the scumbag into bankruptcy. That needs to happen.
Accountability…..
Take that Bush machine. LOL!!!
IMHO, Jeb Bush’s “support” of the Ron De Santis Presidential campaign is and was purely to sideline RDS for the future . . . that he would not be in the way of George Prescott Bush down the road. Work to alienate MAGA from RDS so profoundly and legitimately in the ensuing revelations that RDS was not at all MAGA. Good. Thank you, Jeb – you did us all a great favor! If RDS had been the VP for President Trump and then we would have thought he would be President next. But that would not have worked for your plan for your son, George Prescott Bush.
Part of the plan for George Prescott Bush in Texas was to get him into that AG job and then as Governor then run for President.
I voted for George H. W. Bush in 1980 and 1984 as Ronald Reagan’s running mate (though I didn’t like the way he acted in New Hampshire in 1980 but if he was okay with Governor Reagan, well, okay). I was out of the country in 1992 and did not get my absentee ballot in for 1992; felt guilty about that! Voted for George W. in 2000 and 2004.
But then – for 2016 – The Bush Family was propositioning the electorate with yet a THIRD Bush as President (and the fourth President in their family tree). That was just so absurd!
Bush #41 – Bush #43 – Bush #45 – and don’t forget, Franklin Pierce, #14!
I imagine having Franklin Pierce in her family tree was a real plus for Barbara when Prescott and Dorothy were surveying prospects for George H. W.; then, in later years, The Bush Family even started a college in New Hampshire named after Franklin Pierce.
An anagram for HUBRIS = I R BUSH
The Bush Family is really out to lunch: they need to read the room!
George P. has as much appeal as a potato.
It was glorious!
Mom and I listened to Tony Buzzbee’s closing speech two times this evening.
Great news!
👏👏👏
Hey rinos, you pathetic jerks had nothing on Attorney General Paxton, now let him get back to work, taking care of Texas interests.
Praise God there are still Texans in Texas!
Remember the Alamo!!!
South Carolina has the same problem. We’re just not a big enough prize for the dems.
You have that flaming Ahole Jim Clyburn. You know, the one who anointed Joebama as the Dem Primary contender.
If S Carolina has any sense of right and wrong, they will primary this NWO snake in the grass.
He’s just a nasty ni%%er.
Now watch the Bush family move their operations to Florida, where they’ll be protected by Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis will be lucky if he can retain his governorship.
Buchanan, PDJT, & Dr Paul would be three who especially know this.
Ross Perot politely clears his throat.
He had a way with words and he nailed this.
President Trump: Paxton for VP and Buzbee for AG
That is the winning ticket.
I am pleasantly surprised, I fully expected to see this particular coup succeed. God Bless, Mr. Paxton, and your lovely wife, for standing steadfast on principle. Texas, though, has a loooong way to go to pull itself out of the left-side ditch, if at all.
Here’s some interesting perspective with a notion I have subconsciously understood for quite some time but never dredged it up for examination and analysis – the notion that MAGA, as proxy for the Populist movement in America, does not have it’s own mafia, while standing up against mafias from the Left and the Right.
High Plains Drifter, if you will…
Take the 12 minutes and check it out. Makes we want to be out West, walking thru the desert scrub again…

There have been a number of Doubting Thomases and Negative Nellies when it comes to Texas.
Y’all have a great MAGA day.
MAGA isn’t just our motto, it is our duty. No brag, just fact.
God Bless President Trump and his family and supporters and God Bless Texas and God Bless the USA!
It is a grrrreat day to be a citizen of Texas and America.
Did someone see a U-Haul truck on the way to Crawford?
No, but I sure would like to see a busload of illegal immigrants headed there.
And several Lee Atwaters, for sure. Most of these Dem scum have putrid skeletons hiding out.
Congratulations, Mr. Paxton! Good to have you back.
Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick delivers scathing rebuke of House for ‘flawed’ impeachment attempt on Ken Paxton
https://thepostmillennial.com/texas-lt-governor-dan-patrick-delivers-scathing-rebuke-of-house-for-flawed-impeachment-attempt-on-ken-paxton?utm_campaign=64530
To Kelly Hancock and Rober Nichols, the Bush clan, Dems and Rino traitors in Texas: you lose, good day sir!
That’s old school thinking illegals need to vote at all. They only need to register for any type of public assistance to generate a name for the voter rolls and a ballot to be issued. Dominion and crooked poll workers take care of the rest.
I have never been to Texas, but on a more optimistic note, sometimes we are so much in our own kind of bubble that we can’t see the progress we are making.
Go back and listen to Tony Buzbee’s closing argument, and focus on what he was able to argue about the FBI.
Four years ago, even in a red state, Buzbee would have stopped well short of calling out the FBI as a corrupt, weaponized federal agency.
Now, we have reached the “everybody knows” part of the status of the FBI.
He called them out and wrapped it into his argument as almost a given.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is a marker of HUGE progress in the Great Awakening.
FWIW, I think Paxton provoked this fight with Phelan, with a pretty good idea of how this would play out. The near identical course with both Trump Impeachments makes that a reasonable interpretation of events.
He roped the dopes.
Let’s not forget to celebrate the victories when we win one.
Smile.
Hallelujah!
Will keep praying and praising!
There are many American Hispanics in Texas. The problem is that they need to get louder about the political happenings in Texas and our nation. Many are blue collar workers and many listen to the radio while the work. They need a Hispanic Rush Limbaugh for this demographics. Some where in America there’s got to be a Spanish speaking Hispanic personality to meet this need.
Agree, been thinking same thing for 25 years.
Somehow the racketeer national party hasn’t been able to figure this out.
CPAC Mexico. It’s rising up.

Companion video to Ken Paxton impeachment:
2 weeks ago, I covered how the Bush family wants to kill MAGA, now we learn George P Bush was behind Paxton’s ouster. You can basically think of DC politics, pre-2016, as being the Yale wing of the CIA vs the Texas A&M wing of the CIA.
When Trump took over the GOP, the Texas A&M wing jumped over to the Yale side:
1. To save its ass politically
2. To save its investments financially
https://rumble.com/v3ftt9u-west-texas-the-secret-heart-of-the-gop-civil-war.html
TJ, thanks for posting that video.
This is going to be long. There is more, but I will spare you.
Mike Benz is a really bright guy, but his analysis in the video is made from imperfect knowledge.
The State of Texas owns large expanses of land outright. For the most part since 1919, the state has reserved a fractional royalty interest in the oil, gas, and other minerals produced from land the state was selling out of sovereign ownership. Most of the land still owned by the state at that point was in West Texas where the land with its lack of water was less desirable.
When Texas gained statehood in 1845, the Texas legislature established the Permanent School Fund. The money was first from sales of land then also from oil, gas, and mineral royalties. It was set up to buy books for all of the public schools with money strictly from the interest earned. Now, the PSF has assets worth tens of billions of dollars and provides guarantees on most of the school construction bonds issued by school districts in the state. With that backing, the Texas school bonds are able to be marketed with AAA ratings — higher than the US Treasury bonds. The school districts save real money.
It has been within the last 20 years, with the developments in natural gas liquifaction and changes in the law, that selling LNG from Texas into the international market has become feasible. There are gathering, liquifaction, and loading facilities on the Texas gulf coast, valued in billions of dollars, that require product throughput.
Trump had encouraged rapid expansion in O&G production. A glut ensued and prices cratered. Texas LNG needed international customers.
The NATO nations were not paying their share of the military expenses to the US. Trump went to Europe and told the NATO member nations that they needed to pay up. He told Angela Merkel that it made no sense for the United States to bear the cost of protecting Germany from Russia while Germany was seeking to buy even more gas from Russia. Trump did not want Nord Stream 2 to be put into service so the US could sell LNG to Europe.
Ted Cruz is the (only worthwhile) senator representing Texas. As such, he vigorously advocated in the interest of Texas. There is even a video of a Zoom meeting he had trying to convince the Atlantic Council to use their influence to end the Nord Stream 2 project.
The State of Texas is the Big Kahuna in this saga, not the Bush cabal.
So, is that run by the Railroad Commission? Pretty powerful, but not too visible. Used to have huge clout.
The RRC continues to have huge clout. It is a Texas regulatory body that sets the standard for similar bodies in other states.
The Permanent School Fund, from 1845 to 2021, was under the General Land Office of Texas. I saw this morning that the PSF has been spun off to become a stand alone entity.
===================
George P. Bush was the commissioner of the GLO for 8 years. He could not seek re-election last year because he chose to run against Paxton for AG. So indeed there was that Bush connection with the PSF.
It is said that as Land Commissioner, it took George P a year to accept an invitation to walk across the street from his office and finally meet with the managers of the PSF so that they could brief him.
Someone in the Bush camp may have suggested and facilitated Cruz’s Zoom meeting with the Bush-affiliated Atlantic Council. The Bushies may have encouraged using George H W’s 1st Gulf War enabler Victoria Nuland. For that matter, George P himself may have been the one to point out Nord Stream 2 to President Trump.
If the Bushes wanted something directly from a senator, they probably would have gone to Cornyn. I cannot see that Ted Cruz has ever really been a Bushie. The man he beat in the 2012 senatorial primary was David Dewhurst, an ex-CIA guy who went into the oil business and BTW was the Land Commissioner during the last part of George W’s governorship then became Lt Governor while Perry was in office.
Back to George P.
At the 2014 Republican Party of Texas convention, the party chairman Steve Munisteri walked into each of the caucus meetings with George P in tow and introduced him as the new Texas GOP treasurer. He said that George P had approached him with an offer to help raise money. That position gave George P his Texas creds with which to launch his campaign for Land Commissioner a few months later.
While at the GLO, George P seems to have been a dismantler. He changed the management of the Alamo. He set up three (yes, three) charities to fund the Alamo. Those charities all had the same basic mission statement and the same board of directors.
Disaster money that flows to the state from FEMA is administered through GLO. There was a very competent disaster funding response unit at GLO. Their work flow ran in peaks and troughs. George P got rid of that unit in favor of outsourcing to consultants. That is how we got the disaster funding response that was a disaster after Hurricane Harvey.
Now we see that the PSF was spun-off under George P. even though the assets the PSF administers fit squarely within the GLO’s interest. The PSF is a sovereign wealth fund with nearly $60 billion in assets with a concentration in one sector. The insider information within those halls must be quite valuable.
The harm that could have come to and through the AG’s office if George P would have won that election or been appointed to replace Paxton would have been terrible. The AG’s office has 300 lawyers on staff. Turning that army to the benefit of the Bush cartel would have been a master move in lawfare.
I am sorry, but I needed to vent about George P. If he would like to leave Texas, I would be honored to drive the UHaul and drop him across the border.
“To do what is right and just
is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” – Proverbs 21:3
Praise God. The fact is, the nihilists keep coming because they believe that they will gradually wear us down, destroy our will to resist. And then, they figure, they’ve won. But it’s all a facade. That relentlessness of theirs reminds me of the bully who puffs himself up, talks overly loud and gestures too much, because when push comes to shove, he’s not at all sure that he can back it up.
No matter how bad things look, and they’re pretty bad and will get worse. the forces on our side are more numerous and made of stronger stuff than what opposes us. So go in the strength of Christ and resist…keep going, keep your faith up, and resist. Always fight back, never show them your backs. Let them know they’ve been in a battle. And let’s not lose ourselves in the process, as they have. We’ll come through this scarred, battle hardened, but with head’s held up surrounded by the smoke of victory, faith in God intact. And that will be the true victory.
Congrats to the Paxton family.
I hope this win is the ticket into politics Buzbee needs, he has run numerous times and doesn’t make the cut. This victory should get him in the door. I have really enjoyed watching the guy.
I hope the Bushes have steam coming out their ears, snorts out their noses, and tears in their brisket tonight.
Tears in their Maine Lobster and Filet Mignon.
Tony Buzbee conducted an exorcism in the TX Senate chamber – demanded the loathsome Bush’s leave TX!
I’d like to see Tucker interview Buzbee… I’ll bring the Orville Redenbacher’s…
Yep I travelled to Texas during the Covid bs, San Antonio area as well as the hill country were mask Nazis at every store. Coming from FL where I never had to wear one. I lost a lot hope for Texas that week.
Still there were a lot of businesses in the state that turned a deaf ear to the mask silliness.
Hill Country has been, to some extent, ruined by The People’s Republic of Austin.
Prayers were answered, Praise Jesus! That being said, who can yall replace Abbott with??
How about Paxton for Governor and Buzbee for AG.
Been here 45 years and watched Texas grow from a backwater to a powerhouse. Texas is a country unto itself. East Texas is nothing like West Texas. North Texas is nothing like the border. Central Texas is beautiful but being destroyed by Elon Musk. The Hispanic families have been here since before the Pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock. Still love the fact that Laredo celebrates Washington’s birthday!! I have watched the LBJ era pass away to be replaced by the Bushes. But through it all the one thing all Texans have in common is that they are first and foremost Texans and patriotic Americans proud of their heritage. God Bless Texas and thank God for answering our prayers to keep Ken Paxton in the fight.
What happens to the GOPe traitors who voted to convict?
CAN HE BUILD THE WALL in Texas?
why doesn’t your write up or the referenced article tell us WHO the 2 Republican traitors were?
I’ll do it for you; Kelly Hancock and Robert Nichols.
Some of the ‘whistleblowers’ were in the Senate Gallery watching the voting. Wonder how they enjoyed the show. LOL!
AG Paxton now knows definitively, who the rinos he should not trust are.
And who should be fired or relegated to spider extermination somewhere in west Texas, near EBFE.
Or, impeached from a legislative seat.
So does Lt Governor Dan Patrick as well as the Constituents in their Districts. Careers ended for many.
He more than likely already knew.
Paxton is perhaps the best AG in the country. and every effort should be made to replace Phelan, and the “Reprs” in District 3 and District 9. This could be the start of a great message to send to many other Rinos.
Best message to send to all RINOs is that their species isn’t endangered anymore. Extinction is their only future. RINOsaurs are for the history books.
Exactly right. With the Dems seeing TX as a possible flip for them, is anyone in TX paying attention to who controls the appointment/hiring of people who do the vote counting?
