As details begin to emerge, many of the House Republicans are furious at Kevin McCarthy for the deal to lift the debt ceiling he has brokered with Joe Biden.
Suddenly, the prior battle and construct of the House Rules Committee is becoming important. While Kevin McCarthy may have the 218 votes on the floor of the House to pass the deal, he first has to get it out of the House Rules Committee (HRC). If three Republicans oppose it in the HRC, McCarthy cannot get it to the floor. Chip Roy and Ralph Norman are on the HRC and oppose the bill. Thomas Massie is also on the HRC but appears to be supporting Kevin McCarthy (lol, because muh principles).
Byron Donalds also delivered a strong rebuke of the McCarthy deal, as outlined below:
WASHINGTON DC – […] The powerful House Rules Committee will spend Tuesday afternoon debating and — ultimately working to pass — the bipartisan debt deal, requiring a simple majority of at least seven votes on the panel to come to the floor. But some conservatives, including Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), a committee member, have signaled they may use their power on that panel to block the debt plan from receiving a full House vote.
“I’m going to do what’s in the best interest and this bill is not in the best interest of the country. That is why Democrats are voting for it,” said Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), another conservative who sits on the Rules panel and has suggested he will oppose the bill during the panel’s meeting.
[…] Under the panel’s current makeup, Rules Chair Tom Cole (R-Okla.) can lose two GOP votes — along with all four Democratic votes — and still advance the bill.
Senior Republicans believe that’s exactly what’s going to happen, according to three people familiar with the discussions. Norman and Roy haven’t explicitly said they will oppose, though Massie is expected to vote in support of the measure going to the floor.
GOP Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) said that he is “confident” that the bill will hit the floor on Wednesday, noting that Rules would be considering amendments. Members submitted more than 55 amendments to the debt deal, most of them from Republicans but some from Democrats as well. (read more)
It all started with that crazy biotch Susie Collins from Maine. The bimbo voted obama care out of conference. That was our last chance and the republicans fired the shot that has cratered the world.
The fact that McCarthy delivered nothing is not surprising. He should never have been given the opportunity. And whatever pittance was agreed to will be ignored, overruled, or ignored down the road. So use the one vote rule and at least go down fighting. Get rid of him and send a real signal of solidarity to the people. To us. Not that it will correct the mistake of putting McCarthy in there but standing by principle at this point is about all we have left.
mcarthy is weak. I wish Trump would not have supported him.
Thank you for reminding the fan club here of that fact.
Anecdotally, here are the issues Trump has that ruffle even the “fan club’s” feathers. Not that these will push them to anyone other candidate necessarily, but these are fairly big issues that frustrates them.
#1 – picking terrible people to support and great people to remove
#2 – touting the vax
#3 – the CARES Act
#1) Many of his appointments where preselected by the McConnell Turtle. Team RINOs.
#2) He (once) touted them until that Alabama Rally, in 2022, where he got the first boos I’ve ever heard at one. Haven’t really heard him since then talk much about them. He got the message?
#3) Gov’t needs to pay people if they are going to shut down their means of employment.
Who you voting for?
Why are you talking about people like they’re bugs on a pin? It’s disgusting and unhelpful. Your accuracy is useless.
those aren’t PDJT’s problems.
Its been explained why those are not true honest attacks on him.
—
touting a vax = nothing. Nobody does something just because PDJT says. in fact, he does things we say, AKA supports us
picking people – again garbage idea – You know how people get voted into position (head in sand naive)
CARES act – again garbage idea to blame PDJT with as a negative. the goal of covid was to CRUSH all small business. They were heartless in crushing us, so PDJT had to be heartless in assisting those that fought through that COVID hoax bullshit.
The problem with the vaxx issue is his continual promotion of it. Not that he was railroaded into it. It will cost him votes until he comes out against it.
He was wrong, like a lot of other Republicans he believed what the drug companies and the CDC were saying. They learned the hard way. He doesn’t have to come out against it, the mandates failed and people aren’t getting boosted. It’s a dead issue.
Your name is an oxymoron. Freedom doesn’t come from the law, it comes from God. The law can hinder freedom, it can not grant it.
Trump 2024. MAGA.
MAGA now and forever
Waiting to hear what Trump has to say about this POS bill and specifically about McCarthy selling out.
Trump said it on the CNN Town Hall, make meaningful cuts to spending or just go ahead and default because we’ll default one way or the other.
Excellent response. How soon many forget what was said not long ago. This time was our leverage point and we twiddled it away with a bad deal.
the time is always, when you are a megaphone aligning people’s anger in to one focus point.
PDJT is a threat because of that very reason.
Add up: all people employed by some level of government – city, county, state, federal, teachers. Social Security recipients, welfare, snap, medicare/medicaid, farmers, military, big business gov’t contracts and regulatory favoritism and who do you have left? Default is inevitable. The BIG question is what happens then and it can’t be addressed in other than revolutionary or spiritual terms. It’s time to be banking the spiritual, imho.
default then AUDIT!!!
then tell the WORLD – why are we paying interest on TOILET PAPER printed with the currency images on it??
then IGNITE the people in every country listening- against them fraud money printing out of thin air and robbing with it liars.
This is why they FEAR PDJT – he has repeatedly referred to renegotiating if there is a default or issue.
the renegotiation is – Fress us from your bullshit – or I will megaphone the people to see your tricks and what follows probably wont be healthy for them
WB, 100% agree this would have been the most effective strategy… $400 billion comes in to the Treasury monthly and 500 billion goes out, there was plenty of leverage to force true spending cuts and keep the $132 bllion in cuts promised in the Limit Save Grow Act
you do get why, don’t you?
Every time Byron Donalds speaks, he’s brilliant! Why didn’t he become Speaker???
because the globalists wanted McCarthy.
Not the establishment’s choice.
He was too good!
He’s literally been in the spotlight for a minute. Did he speak out about DAs that do not prosecute crimes? Has he told his community why this does not benefit them in the long run? Was he out there taking on the leaders of BLM? Or is he suddenly useful ? Serious Q. Have not heard of him until extremely recently.
He would be a great VP
President Trump did this. He demanded McCarthy be speaker. How can he be such a sucker ? He loves McCarthy, McDaniel and “Liberace” Graham. Trump is a sap. He needs to re-read his scorpion poem every morning. It’s all a theatrical production. Gaetz and MTG were masterful in their parts.
Just an aside: MTG worked against Gaetz and the 20 during the speaker vote.
Remember that except for these 20 members. the rest of the GOP Caucus were backing McCarthy.
Why was everyone backing McCarthy? Not because of President Trump. Here’s why:
—> McCarthy controlled the GOP House donation war chest for the 2022 midterms.
He used that money to try to primary people he didn’t like and even last fall before the Nov midterm, he was busy extracting loyalty pledges to back him in the Speaker vote in return for campaign funds in the general election.
M-O-N-E-Y. Whoever controls the GOP House campaign war chest controls the loyalty of the members.
.
RISK OF DEMOCRAT SPEAKER:
Also because of the thin majority, there were rumors that the democrats and a block of Uniparty republicans were in talks to form a voting majority to put a democrat in the Speaker’s office.
But remember he and we have a long history with the betrayal of the GOPe. The possibility that there was in fact a deal in the works between the democrats and a block of the GOPe was a real threat. So he was weighing the risk of a democrat speaker in the mix.
Excellent summary. Our MAGA selection problems are because of lack of great choices due to the uniparty controlling the system as it stands. Rank Choice is an example.
Thank you for the reminder there is always so much going on behind the scenes.
Trump is willing to take the hits when something worse is very possible.
That is true leadership.
MTG must have calls flooding in to her phone lines lambasting her for support of this bill… she just appeared on propaganda media to say that more new outlets would have access to the J6 tapes previously released only to FOX. She failed to mention this is only a fraction of the tapes. 0 respect for this stooge…
Either you hate us, or you just havent seen why your comment is inaccurate yet.
McCarthy was getting in REGARDLESS. by doing the negotiation game you get a couple things: 1) some wins on things you wanted 2) if McCarthy backs out of any agreements, its more ammo for the WAR COMING during the 2024 election and STEAL
I think he’s a roll con.
I’m not sure, but it appears to me, that 1) he’s trying to see exactly who the enemies are, and 2) he’s trying to show us the enemies, and the lay of the land.
Did you notice? Rep. Roy and Donalds did not look down once – not once. Almost like they knew what they wanted to say instead of what someone else wanted them to say. How unique…
We all KNEW McCarthy would betray us.
I did.
Yup. But Massie betrayed us too. He could have stopped it. And MTG betrayed us. Apparantly, she was completely full of sht. It’s the ones you didn’t think would betray you that really matter.
add Jim Jordan and Elise Stephanik to that traitor list
ADD THEM ALL.
anyone under the BLACKMAIL Obama Bush weaponziation Tool Kit (Sureillance State) cannot fight the System unless they are Pure or unashamed of their “sins”
PDJT has a gift of owning his “sins” and bouncing their blackmail tool off the concrete.
This trash made it out of Committee…it’s as good as a done deal at this point
Nobody in Washington has balls to defeat it
Probably right.
BUT of the 9 Republican members of the Committee —-SIX of the NINE voted to BLOCK the bill from getting out of Committee. It was 4 Democrats with 3 Republicans who got it out of Committee.
6 of 9, that means two-thirds wanted to stop the bill. Wondering if that same proporation, two-thirds will stand up to say no during the floor vote.
The vote is some time after 7:30pm tonight. Anyone who wants to call their rep, today’s the day.
LOL… you buying what they’re selling huh? “Damn!!! we almost got’em this time – we’ll get’em next time! Y’all keep voting for us!!!”
yea the hope thing sucks, and at the same time its needed so you dont just go crazy
WE gonna vote – to make the Steal more obvious.
the rallys are gonna get the locations to protest the local gov. it will get the people (the numbers) and the location all while masking as an Election Rally.
I fail to see why you are touting the fact that we had a majority but 3 Republicans betrayed us.
I see both of your sides. Yes, it is encouraging that we had a majority but many of us remember how the Rs voted against Ocare very consistently until the time came that they could have actually dismembered it. It’s happened time and again without any seeming end.
I’ll remind you again that 7 of the 9 Republicans voted FOR the rule. 2 Republicans (Roy and Norman) voted with 4 Democrats AGAINST the rule.
This entire game was mapped out and executed to take the debt/budget discussion off the table for Trump in 2024 similar to the previuous budget debacle. McCarthy and McConnell were not going to give Trump any leverage. We lost again.
MTG is starting to look like a Rino for supporting McCarthy.
Starting? What will it take to convince you?
keep this in mind: that Swamp will put daggers all on you as you are in it. She is playing her game in the way she can to survive and weather the threats.
Hey, what happens when it ALL falls down?
humanity gets tested.
im not convinced the American People would start Purging each other.
Third party. America First party. Destroy the GOP. They are not fixable.
Here we go…the DC machine kicks over, sputters and starts to make sausage. The end result is predictable: a lot of wind, a vast amount of hot air and copious arm waving. In the end, we’ll have a”budget” but no one will address the real problem with expenditures…each year, they automatically increase and no one ever takes the time to discover why.
Oh! I forgot to add the usual disclaimer to our 2024 “Budget”, so here it is:
”NOTICE: No one’s ox was gored in the making of this movie!”
A Theological Interpretation of the James Webb Space Telescope’s Big Bang Anomaly.
An Important Message for MAGA Trump Patriots On Defining the Righteous God in Restoring the American Covenant of Liberty.
May 31, 2023.
full article available at Substack http://www.civildissolution.substack.com
Laurie Thomas Vass, http://www.civildissolution.com
Introduction.
In recent weeks, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWS), has been sending back to earth images of 6 distant galaxies that formed, in cosmic time, immediately after the Big Bang, about 13 billion years ago.
According to received theory of the creation of the universe, the evidence of these 6 new galaxies does not fit into the paradigm of the expanding universe, from the time of the Big Bang.
In the words of Thomas Kuhn, in his book, The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, the discovery of the 6 galaxies changes the rules of interpreting scientific knowledge. (University of Chicago Press; 3rd edition, 1996.).
Kuhn would predict that current devotees of the Big Bang theory will work furiously to somehow incorporate the 6 infant galaxies into the current received theory.
Their most recent effort is to suggest that there are multiple bubbles of multiple universes, and that the earth’s universe is just one of potentially millions of universes, all of which are expanding, which keeps the part of the Big Bang theory related to the Milky Way part of the expanding universe theory intact.
However, the multiple universe theory conflicts with the evidence of the JWS, that is sending back images of the edge of a single universe, not multiple bubbles of thousands of universes.
According to Kuhn, after the passage of time, the anomaly may either be safely dealt with by the scientific community [multiple bubbles] that has a vested interest in maintaining the status quo, so that “normal” science can continue, or some radical new theory of the universe may slowly gain acceptance to replace the old theory.
We offer a new theological interpretation of the 6 new galaxies, which may seem revolutionary to believers in the status quo image of God.
We place our theory of God into the context of the current confrontation between the MAGA Trump patriot forces of good, and the evil forces of the New World Order, to explain that the emergence of the NWO is a new development in the human evolution of evil, which like the discovery 6 new galaxies, requires a new understanding of God in order to confront the new human evil.
if you would post this in the presidential politics thread, I would be interesting in replying/discussion.
God Bless America
I recall ben bernanke (former fed chair) stating flatly and plainly that debt ceiling matters of congress would have no effects whatsoever on whether the US defaults on it’s debt issuance. Does anyone else remember this?
what changed?
what am I missing?
God Bless America
No consequence for lying anymore – for them.
not one that matters to them.
A lot of posters seem concerned about MTG’s stance on this. Here is MTG’s mail. Send her a message (be nice) and ask her why she supports it (if she does). Also while you are at it, ask her where her articles of impeachment stand.
[email protected]
We’re not concerned…at least I’m not. It’s obvious she’s just another garden variety liar. I’ll believe her articles of impeachment when I see something. I no longer will give her words any weight.
Fair enough.
She’s doing nothing. She likes to be seen. And I’m done with nice.
DAMN! Just LOVE Byron Donalds!!!!!
Losers bitching and moaning is disgusting and I’m tired of it. They can’t influence their own membership so they come out to the steps and tell us to call and call and call people who don’t represent us and won’t change their minds.
It’s useless theater unless they make the motion to vacate or somehow get this pile of manure rejected.
Stand STRONG, Freedom Caucus Members!!! PLEASE don’t let this Bill make its way to the floor for voting!!!
Remember this gem from “Commitment to America”
An Economy That’s Strong
Fight Inflation and Lower the Cost of Living, Curb wasteful government spending that is raising the price of groceries, gas, cars, and housing, and growing our national debt.
I will be reminding my representative.
Tried to email Rep. Roy. Just wanted to ask one simple question “Who do you think you’re foolin’?”
I’m not in his district though I do reside in Texas. He had no interest in hearing what I had to say to him. Well hell… If he’s going to treat me like the rest of his constituency then he oughta let me email him too! smh…
Roy supports Meatball for POTUS. Roy talks a good ( feigned fury) game but he’s just another DC Clubber.
on gateway pundit the list of 37 republican house members who voted “NO” are posted.
in my opinion, there are no more excuses for the others (including Jim Jordan, Thomas Massie,
Elise Stephanik and Marjorie Taylor Green). No more, “but, they support President Trump
or this bill or that”. It is time we took a stand. Anyone who is for this boondoggle should
be voted out of office.
The House had already written a Bill. There was no reason to change it just because Biden would not agree to it. McCarthy killed the original bill and gave all up to Biden. Americans will get hurt heavily by inflation, illegals, and massive increased debt. Biden’s Admin is set to destroy America.
If all the democrats plan to vote yes, then we know it is a bad deal. Can’t McCarthy change something in the bill that gets 2 democrats? What if something changed that split the vote of both parties and it barely passes? Does McCarthy really want more democrats voting for his bill than republicans? WTF
He doesn’t care. He is serving his masters.
What country would buy our debt to finance this debacle? None, and it will only result in printing more money and skyrocketing inflation as Sundance statee
Look at this – more promises of things that won’t happen:
I read the list. I doubt seriously that any of that gets done. Talk talk talk talk.
Rep. Roy has already caved – as exected. Slime Ball.
I once respected Elise Stefanik… no more. She’s already hitting the presstitute circuit claiming this bill creates the largest deficit reduction in US history. Really? Since when does cutting 50 billion only to turn around and print 4 trillion in funny money fiat currency constitute a deficit reduction??? Just because the CBO makes the claim doesn’t make it so. I agree w Heritage Action’s Kevin Roberts that this agreement will continue America’s trajectory towards economic destruction and expanded fed control. And what happened to the 132 billion in cuts promised by the Limit save Grow Act?
And shame on KY’s Thomas Massie of the House Rules Committee for being the vote to move this out of HRC!
Motion to Vacate must go forward to oust this Speaker who truly despises We the People!
‘She’s already hitting the presstitute circuit claiming this bill creates the largest deficit reduction in US history.’ – rumorhasit
Probably the largest deficit reduction in recent history was the brief move into fiscal SURPLUSES in 1999 and 2000, at the crest of the Internet Bubble.
Back then, the mumbling fool Alan Greenspan extrapolated those surpluses into the future, claiming that the supply of Treasury securities would dry up, since Big Gov would never need to borrow again.
Contrary to ex-Fed Chair Magoo, now we’ve got $31.4 trillion in Treasuries outstanding, soon to explode to $35 trillion before the next ‘election.’
Clowngress has no short-term control over tax revenues – they fall if the economy weakens. Meanwhile, rising interest cost on federal debt is baked in the cake, as older low-interest rate debt is replaced with new, higher-rate debt.
It is entirely possible and even likely that the FY 2024 deficit will exceed this year’s – substantially so, if a recession materializes.
Then all four of the lying RINO dirtballs who endorsed this idiotic claim –McCarthy, Scalise, Emmer, and Stefanik – will be exposed as economic illiterates. But we knew that already, didn’t we?
https://stefanik.house.gov/2023/5/house-gop-leadership-statement-on-passage-of-the-fiscal-responsibility-act
When the actual, appalling FY 2024 deficit is totaled up, it should be tattooed on their fool foreheads for posterity.
So McCarthy and his new little playmates MTG and Thomas Massie sold us out? Shocking!
Why did McCarthy hand Manchin a victory when we are on verge of kicking him out and replacing him with a Republican. Why make it more likely Democrat can retaining this crucial Democrat Senate seat? https://www.conservativedailynews.com/2023/05/biden-mccarthy-deal-hands-joe-manchin-a-victory-in-pipeline-permitting-battle/
