French President Emmanuel Macron is in Beijing for an official state visit and his geopolitical priority is to break, or at least weaken, the China-Russia alliance. Yes, the western alliance sent diminutive Macron for this task. That is funny enough… but what comes next is buckets funnier.
In order to give power to their position, the brilliant NATO minds decided that President Macron should take European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, as a way to express the united ‘western alliance’ message that Macron was intended to leverage in his efforts. Obviously cunning Panda knew the intent, and the way China literally diminished the effort is not only funny in diplomatic action, but also in the optics they present. LOOK:

China sees itself as an independent nation and unique culture. President Trump saw the United States the same way, hence they could talk. I don’t think Xi understands the European Union. It is beyond Xi’s imagination that Asia could be organized the same way, with China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines all being in a single country/union governed by an Indonesian. My guess is that the EU project strikes Xi as absurd and unstainable, as is a one world government. The world has always been comprised of self interested nations.

But of course, that lasted all of about two years before the corruptors seized on the opportunity to exploit a new way to big foot large economic power and defeat the very reason the EU was advertised to accomplish.
to XI…to CCP the model is of not interest..not because it accomplished a multinational enterprise…but that there is “shared power”. CCP would never be interested in nation building without the complete control over expansion. That is the difference. And yes, it is indeed a cultural ideaological difference. CCP does not expand it’s power and territorial gains because it has some notion that doing so will create more security or even ease trade efficiencies. Those are secondary to the primary goal of expanding for the direct goal of overlording and controlling all things beyond it’s borders.
this helps to explain why CCP is more aligned with Russia in the Ukraine war. It sees the expansion through territorial disputes and even military action as just an extension of its common goal to expand power. This is why I have concerns that the Joe Malarkey circus will not respond when CCP takes Taiwan. It’s more than just a territorial dispute…as with Ukraine and it’s incredible resource for agriculture…taiwan is literally the high tech chip manufacturing supplier to the world. That’s as close to having a clinch on power as any in the modern world.

A more realistic descriptor would be that van der Leyen is a German (“puppet”) proxy since the EU is in essence a German construct and represents the interests of the Berlin government at the expense of the other EU states. France is paid off through the Common Agricultural policy and pretends that it has something to say in the EU.
So given the above, Chinese treated EC President van der Leyen as minor official, while giving full diplomatic honors, just as it did to German Chancellor Scholz a few weeks earlier.
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, what is really going on is Germany and it’s appendages France and EU are looking to replace Russia as the security guarantor in the post-American EU. France and Germany had an arrangement with Russia, but after a year of the “3 day Special Military Operation”, Russia is damaged goods and Putin has religated it to a client state of the Chinese.
This is behind the German, French and German proxy EU’s visits to China.
This is not only my take, but you also hear the same interpretain from people like Wess Mitchell and the Potomac Foundation.
So, France sees the writing on the wall and has sent Macron east to petition to join BRICS?

I think we need to take a step back, and understand that our ‘dislike’ of China actually comes from Western sources (the same way our ‘dislike’ of Russia was fed by western sources). China is not attempting to militarily take over the world. They are not imperialist like the US. They do not have military bases all over the place. As Donald Trump so aptly understood, the issue with China is economic. That is China’s goal, and Trump wanted this on an even playing field (even though our manufacturing base currently is in no way competitive with China). China is about to become the largest economic force on the globe. With over a billion workers, there is, frankly, no way to stop this. China does not want a military conflict with the US, despite the US constantly poking it, regarding Taiwan, etc. The fact that the US economy and manufacturing base is nowhere near what it was decades ago, is not the fault of China. It is the fault of American leaders whose actions precipitated this.
