Senator Lindsey Graham (U-DC) is trying to get the Libyan band back together as part of the effort to escalate a NATO war against Russia. In the latest development, according to the U.S. version of events, Russia took down a Reaper drone over the Black Sea:
The MQ-9 Reaper drone was making a routine flight before it was intercepted by two Russian Su-27 fighter jets on Tuesday. The warplanes dumped jet fuel on the drone and flew in front of it in a “reckless, environmentally unsound and unprofessional manner,” according to a statement from U.S. European Command.
One of the Russian aircraft then struck the drone’s propeller, rendering it unflyable and prompting U.S. operators to ditch it in the Black Sea. (link)
The Russian version of events outlines something akin to Russian pilots throwing a Pepsi at it. As relayed by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov:
[…] “I explained the position of the Russian Federation,” Antonov said. “I stressed that the American UAV that was moving deliberately and provocatively towards the Russian territory with its transponders turned off violated the boundaries of the temporary airspace regime established for the special military operation, which was communicated to all concerned users of international airspace in accordance with international norms.”
“At the same time,” he added, “the Russian fighters scrambled to identify the intruder did not use on-board weapons or come into contact with the UAV.”
“The unacceptable actions of the United States military in the close proximity to our borders are cause for concern,” Antonov said. “We are well aware of the missions such reconnaissance and strike drones are used for.” […] “What do they do thousands of miles away from the United States? The answer is obvious – they gather intelligence which is later used by the Kiev regime to attack our armed forces and territory,” Antonov said.
[…] “Let us ask a rhetorical question: if, for example, a Russian strike drone appeared near New York or San Francisco, how would the US Air Force and Navy react? I am quite confident that the US military would act in an uncompromising way and would not allow its airspace or territorial waters to be breached,” Antonov said. “We proceed from the fact that the United States will refrain from further speculations in the media landscape and stop making sorties near the Russian borders,” he added. The United States govt/military justified their operation near the Russian border by saying we patrol everywhere in the globe doing these surveillance missions, so the Russians just need to stop being so sensitive:

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday it’s unclear if the US military will be able to recover the wreckage of the crashed MQ-9 Reaper drone in the Black Sea as it fell in “very deep water”.
But Moscow is now saying its navy will attempt to retrieve the wreckage first, and so the race is on – as AFP has emphasized. “Moscow said Wednesday it would try to retrieve the wreckage of a U.S. military drone that crashed over the Black Sea in a confrontation that Washington blamed on two Russian fighter jets,” the report says based on Kremlin statements. Brief video purporting to show the intercept incident has also emerged via a well-known Russian military Telegram channel and is being widely circulated:

I can’t find anyone who, by now, doesn’t know that Lindsey Graham is a political chameleon. He made himself John McCain’s most loyal ally a few years before he made himself Donald Trump’s most loyal ally. He is now an ally of Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden, but I am sure he will be changing his allegiance to them as soon as he figures out which way the wind is blowing tomorrow. Nobody with more than half a brain should ever listen to anything that man has to say. He is the concrete definition of a DC Swamp politician. The war in Ukraine only exists because Zelenskyy will be more apt to make his country into another Communist bastion of stupidity than what Putin’s Russia will ever be. I recall that Iran shot this very same type drone down around the Straits of Harmuz under the same circumstances. Our military, within seconds of losing the drone to anti-aircraft missile(s), presented a VSGPDJT with retaliatory strike packages that would have resulted in up to 100+ Iranians being killed. He told them NO! He was not going to kill over 100 Iranians because they shot down our unmanned drone that was perhaps behaving provocatively.

What is making the neocons all seethe, clutch pearls, and do a lot of foot stomping is that the drone cannot be recovered. Some sources say that the drone is already recovered; others say that it will soon be recovered.
This is the type of drone the US refused to send to Ukraine because they didn’t want the Russians to capture it. It was using very sophisticated surveillance equipment, “The Gorgon Stare”.
My guess is that they were testing the Russian defenses of Crimea or trying to look at troop deployment or air defense in Crimea to transmit to Ukraine for some operation. They got too close with transponders off….how stupid. And the neocons like Pansy Graham look stupid and ill-informed.

The US has been flying surveillance drones near Crimea now for quite some time, where they attempt to pick up Russian locations, communications, etc, and advise Ukraine. The Russians have finally had enough of this aggression. You have to be totally in awe of the expertise of the Russian pilots who dropped fuel on it, as well as clipped its prop, causing it to malfunction and drop into the Black Sea. The US actually reprimanded Russia for the ‘environmental’ damage done by dumping the fuel on it….which is laughable, since the US is the #1 carbon polluter in the world.
The whole US story line is laughable.

When will Normal Americans stop and think, and ask: Why in God’s name is the US, bankrupt and under invasion from the South, pouring billions of dollars into military operations around the globe?
