I read Putin’s speech from a few days ago and I did not have any negative impression of Russia’s Leader at all. He told the Truth. He gave notice to the USA many times over. He had a legitimate national security interest to protect, and Russian people who to this day continue to be shelled by western Ukranians. His armies have not deviated from this original mission statement.
I don’t think he wants to rule Ukraine. Why would he want to have control over people in the western provinces who hate Russian guts? He has the patience, the power, the discipline and the determination to accomplish the stated goals and stick to them.

At PJ yesterday I posted another iteration of my warning that our actual current president, the Islamic supremacist Barack Hussein Obama, wants a nuclear war with Russia, getting the world’s two biggest Christian powers to destroy each other.

The Ukraine war is unwinnable because everyone has understood for decades that Russia will use nuclear weapons before it lets Ukraine join NATO, or lets eastern Ukraine, and especially Crimea, fall under anti-Russian power.
These are the conditions on which the Soviets let the Eastern European SSRs go, and ever since then they have been understood to be nuclear red lines. So if the U.S. and its proxy Ukraine “win,” we both get nuked.
That is not winning. The Russians won’t win either. Both sides will lose. No winning. A totally unwinnable war. So it will never happen right? Both sides have full incentive to avoid the ultimate catastrophe right?
Wrong. The U.S. and Russia and the entire western world will lose, but the stone age Salafists will win by the only measure they care about: they will be the ones left standing, and this is no coincidence. When the US-led coup took Ukraine in February, 2014 – with the ouster of the elected leader of Ukraine via Victoria Nuland and the C14 neo-Nazi militia – one important future goal of the US was for the US to build a naval base in Crimea to challenge the Black Sea fleet in Russia’s only warm water ports. It would put the US in the Black Sea.
What happened was that Crimea’s people determinedly refused to allow the US to take their territory after the US installed their puppet in Kiev.
Certainly the people in Crimea could see the future plans unfolding. The people of Crimea could also see the Russophobia in Ukraine coming to the surface, the neo-Nazi hatred of ethnic Russians, the same neo-Nazi militias (such as the key C14 militia) who were rewarded for helping Victoria Nuland. The Parliament of Crimea did not feel safe remaining a part of Ukraine. Pro-Russians, including Crimean members of the Night Wolf biker gang seized bases, buildings, guarded the border, etc. These were NOT Russian soldiers.

The USA/EU/NATO’s problem is that they can’t win this war. Russia is a first-class opponent with unlimited manufacturing capability. If Russian commanders want 40,000 artillery shells per day, to use in weapons that can actually fire that many rounds without breaking down, they’ve got it. Those materials can be shipped to the battle fronts entirely over Russian soil, and they have un-contested command of the skies.
The USA is no longer the independent manufacturing juggernaut that it was in the early 1940’s. It gave away all of that to … a nation which would be Russia’s ally. Store shelves will become empty at Wal-Mart, and there is no domestic American industry to restock them.
Modern warfare is very much a contest of manufacturing. “Tom Swift” weapons (and, nuclear) cannot paste-over the fact that war is a grinding, bloody business which consumes resources in prodigious amounts. There’s not a single American commander wearing stars today which has actually been in a war such as would finally break out. There hasn’t been a war like that in eighty years. But, Russia did not dismantle herself and she did not forget. Nor did China.
Agreed, America Nato can not win this war. Russia is set up for the long haul total war. The US is limited war. All Our arms are for Shock and Awe. A massive first strike. Then they break down with no parts to repair them and no logistics to get more weapons to the front. Even if we had the capacity to manufacture them.
I also believe Russia would win a nuclear war. Russian Missile defense is second to none. Their cities and military bases are now ringed with 1oos of advanced anti missile batteries.
US has nothing but 30+ year old rusty nukes and broken down unreliable missile defense.
President Reagan used to talk about “Star Wars” With a twinkle in his eye and a smile. After he was gone the US forgot all about “Star Wars.
But Russia took it very seriously and went on to develop those weapons Reagan dreamed about.
The 1000 year old Russian psyche includes the concept of existential war for survival.
The US psyche is dabbling everywhere else except on US soil to make the world safe for democracy, whatever that really means.
We’re in it for as long as it takes to continue to hide our corruption and money laundering from public view and continue the corrupt honey pot in the Ukraine for Congress and the deep state!!! “For as long as it takes” will become as famous as “Remember the Alamo” and “Remember Peal Harbor”!!/s
