Genuine investigations do not need to be announced. Take office, start working. This announcement is not needed, unless the announcement itself serves a purpose. That purpose is what we have previously called “chaff and countermeasures.”
Understanding the DC game of Chaff and Countermeasures…. A “Countermeasure” is a measure or action taken to counter or offset a preceding one.
Politically speaking, the deployment of countermeasures is a well-used tactic by professional politicians in Washington DC to counter incoming public inquiry and protect themselves from anger expressed by the electorate. The republican leadership are very skilled in the management of “chaff” (outrage), and “countermeasures” (the distraction).
Weaponized government serves its own interests. The countermeasures are DC politicians assigned a role to control the incoming righteous inquiry from voters who find out about the weaponized or corrupt governmental action. In the republican wing of the UniParty, it looks like this:

Ahh yes, a “thorough” investigation. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. When there is a call for a thorough investigation it does not mean the guilty will be brought to justice. What it means is that all participants in the malfeasance at hand will be acknowledged and their participation will be cataloged. Once all, with an emphasis on all information has been gathered it is then, and only then, that details can be scrubbed so that all parties involved can be protected. The investigation must be “thorough” so that no incriminating evidence ever reaches the public sphere in the future. During this process there may or may not be a few sacrificial lambs cast to the fire as a way of appeasing an angry electorate.

I figured SD would encapsulate this announced investigation into a proper perspective. Linking Hannity to another round of the House’s “chaff and countermeasures” does that perfectly. The thought of studiously watching Hannity cover this investigation 5 nights a week for a year or so is a nightmare scenario.
I had a temporary memory lapse, probably due to a lazy, tired mind after watching the UK imploding in real time and my own misguided wishful thinking, but article and row of pictures from Fast and Furious to today’s announcement quickly reminded me.

I stopped pretending in 2008, much to everyone’s chagrin. Since 2020 I’ve spent all my time verbally NOT pretending and telling friends and family each about each crisis, often as it’s happening. If nothing else I know who my friends are and who the family members are that truly care about me. Some agree with me, some don’t. I think I’m fortunate for being incapable of pretending now. Amazing experience today in SoCal. I pulled next to a car beside me who had the window down cranking conservative talk radio. Asian guy. Never saw that before.
Then I went to a car dealership and to my surprise the young Hispanic guy assisting me was very knowledgeable about what the fake President was up to. He may have been about 20 years old and knew almost as much as me. Later on I spoke with his manager who came from Pakistan 25 years ago and built his American dream. He was showing me his MAGA videos on his cell phone. WOW! They weren’t kidding.

I’ve heard so many conservatives say, “God is in control.” It’s our choices that Democrats exploit. Was God in control when you moved Mom to the nursing home where they harvested her ballot? Was God in control when you divorced your ex-wife and she became an embittered government dependent? Was God in control when you sent your kids to public schools to be indoctrinated? Was God in control when you spent time at the lake or the golf course instead of in church? Or when you put sports tournaments ahead of worship?
