The White House is urging Nancy Pelosi to utilize the lame duck congressional session and construct a massive omnibus spending bill that will wrap Ukraine funding, COVID spending and a federal budget extension via continuous resolution. The request for Ukraine funding is an additional $38 billion.
Federal funds to support FEMA and hurricane recovery efforts will likely be part of the bargaining chips. Essentially, the sausage ingredients are: if congress doesn’t give Zelenskyy more money, then DeSantis will not get federal financial assistance.

WASHINGTON DC – The Biden administration sent a letter to Congress on Tuesday outlining nearly a $38 billion request to help Ukraine continue fending off Russian attacks.
The administration is also asking for $10 billion in emergency health funding, with more than $9 billion going toward Covid vaccine access, next-generation Covid vaccines, long Covid research and more. About $750 million would be spent on efforts to control the spread of monkeypox, hepatitis C and HIV.
Congress has so far provided about $66 billion for Ukraine and other war-related needs. The administration argues that about three-quarters of that funding has either been spent or is committed to specific purposes.
An administration official said the White House plans to request additional disaster relief in the coming weeks to help with hurricane and wildfire recovery but didn’t provide any tentative figure.
The administration’s request for emergency money comes as appropriators aim to clinch a year-end government funding deal that would stave off a partial government shutdown on Dec. 16 and increase agency budgets for the current fiscal year. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already promised to provide more money for Ukraine in a government funding package, while some conservatives are arguing that the U.S. should cut off financial assistance and assess how funding for the country has been spent to date. Update: I wanted to look into what the MSM outlets are saying about FTX.
They are mentioning it. I don’t think they can’t now. But there is no mention of money going back to any politicians (I think Fox and TGP are the only two outlets touching on the connections with politicians).
The few articles I did find have touched on a “backdoor” and wrongdoing per se, but the focus was more on how the frizzy-haired douchebag is denying it (all while bragging on Twitter, apparently). The few articles did mention the DOJ, but again the focus was more on the officials in the Caribbean. But to be fair- a few did mention that 1-2 billion can’t be accounted for…..

Not only should they be ended but the process for declaring an emergency needs to be revised. No one person (President or Governor) should have unilateral authority to declare an emergency.
Congress (the Federal Level and yes both Chambers) should be required to vote and approve Emergency Declarations and the appropriate state legislatures should be required to do the same.

Yeah, I agree but no one person should have this authority. If you know a disaster is coming- i.e, snowstorm, hurricane,e, etc. then hold a preliminary vote to ensure recovery efforts won’t be impeded by red tape (no need to declare an emergency).
If it is a real instant disaster or event (earthquake, plane crash, flash flood, etc) then an emergency hearing can be held to hold a vote. If you can hold absentee voting for covid- then there’s no reason not to be able to quickly mobilize and hold an emergency hearing.
I mean, if it’s an actual emergency- wouldn’t you find a way to get it done? And get t done fast?

I had heard this might happen. At the time, based on the media’s behavior, I thought that would really piss people off. A week after the election I am not even sure what the hurry is unless the Ukies are out of money (probably are). One thing that’s need to be understood, this war (US/West vs Russia) cannot be lost by either side. Even though the Ukaraine embezzlement grift is in full effect, this war is existential and will ultimately be won by one side. I don’t see anymore Minsk agreements. Its clear to me now the goal was to provoke Russia into a full Blitzkrieg shock and awe situation. They were to come flying in guns a blazing and after taking Kiev and other places they would meet a stiff insurgency by some very hardened fighters. It would have been like Iraq X 100. The constant losses of men and treasure along with the sanctions would ultimately lead to regime change where the US could break up Russia and pick at its carcass.
This hypothetical victory would ensure that China and all other rivals would bend the knee to the Empire. Well that is still the goal and I have to assume that if this does not happen there is a very real risk of collapse. Inflation for the most part a mentality that sets in as confidence in a country wanes. I am not going to go into “is Russia winning or losing” because frankly I don’t know. I doubt anyone really does. However at some point a winner will become obvious to everyone but the citizens of the West (propaganda). The media tricks won’t play on other countries in Asia, Africa, and the ME. Whoever these countries follow will determine the victor….and to the victor goes the spoils.

I’ve long felt we need a Const amendment to move the seating of the new Congress up, and/or limit the acts that Congress can perform in a “lame duck” session. For example, declaring war and oversight functions should continue, but foreign aid, election bills, etc. should not. Have NO idea how to codify that easily, but the lame duck session is where a lot of malfeasance is done by folks who can no longer be held accountable.

I have just finished reading The Grand Deception: The Browder Hoax. During the 1990’s, US companies, banks, and hedge fund were plundering Russia, making billions of dollars privatizing Russian companies. The Russian oligarchs (Mafia) increased corruption with the help of US and EU companies while the people of Russia were literally starving to death and inflation stood at several thousand percent.
The West hates Putin for some of the same reasons that it hates Trump. Putin turned the country around despite the enmity of the west, ended corruption, encouraged small business, is very people-centered. He is exceptionally smart and an economic nationalist.
