Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Elvis with a Bangles song … I think he liked the hard-hitting character of the original, you can tell he likes playing the guitar parts on this

Sadiq Khan Reignites Row with Donald Trump
Early 80s power pop, these guys went criminally unrecognized
another …. the high backing vocals on these guys, sheesh
Dale Bozzio in full public spectacle, husband Terry Bozzio on drums, and all the lads contributing high falsetto vocals.
There’s a movie that incorporated this song in a sequence with a small dog traversing streets and sidewalks (walking in LA, get it?) that I like because it’s got actress Lynn Collins, she’s pretty
Something could change
And then you won’t know
Thanks Nim. I remember The Records. Boston always had both classic rock stations AND cutting edge/new music stations and although to this day I favor the classic rock, some of those 80’s bands on the new rock/new wave stations weren’t too bad.
And I had a thing for Dale Bozzio back in the day…I thought she was cute in a purple-ish haired, new wave chick, kind of way.
glad you liked ’em, Ed
you’re the first person I’ve heard knew of The Records
I dug Missing Persons too, cool popstar schtick with the bombshell frontwoman and they’re world-class musicians, Terry drummed in Frank Zappa’s band and the guitarist and keyboardist later went on to Duran Duran I’m pretty sure
Duran’s late-career masterpiece
a deep backstory to the song, apparently

Samuel Morey
(1762-1843)
American inventor of early internal combustion engines and a steamship pioneer, dies at 80
Biography: Samuel Morey was an American inventor credited with important advances in steam and internal combustion engine technology. Though less well-known than contemporaries like Robert Fulton, Morey was a significant figure in early American engineering.
Morey was initially interested in steam engines and their application in the realm of water-based transport. His experiments led to a patented design for a steam-powered paddlewheel, an early example of applying steam power to boats.
One of Morey’s most significant contributions was the development of the internal combustion engine. He was awarded a patent in 1826 for a “Gas or Vapor Engine,” one of the earliest examples of an internal combustion engine using a gas and air mixture.
His engine used a volatile liquid, like alcohol or turpentine, which was vaporized and then ignited to produce a controlled explosion that drove a piston. Although rudimentary by today’s standards, it was a pioneering concept at the time.
