i have a question for anyone familiar with the VA. Today a young man I have befriended fighting for a veteran, needs some kind of guidance. The man he is trying to help, just moved to Florida from Pennsylvania and needs the VA’s help in giving him the assistance to go, in attaining VA’s help. Somehow there is a problem in getting him on board in Florida, with the Veteran’s health diminishing. Please help me try to get a contact with someone who can help.

Did the Veteran in question have a case worker assigned in PA??
Each County in PA has a Veteran Affairs Office, responsible for handling these situations.
The state of Florida has the same arrangement called the County Veteran Assistance Office. Start there.
If the Veteran in question had a case worker in PA … that Case Worker should be able to work with the County Office in FLA where this Veteran resides.
When I was the primary in-home care giver for my dad in PA, we worked through the Beaver County Veterans Affairs Office and they had assigned a case worker, who actually came to my dad’s residence to work through the process of getting assistance .. with myself and my brother.

Somehow no one in Pennsylvania was keeping records of this man until they knew he was gonna move to Florida, and then it was like in florida like well we have no records of this guy, so it will take at least 2 years to get him in the system, in the meantime this guy needs medical treatment now. He will be dead before anyone does anything. it’s so sad.
Why not just take him to the nearest VA hospital ER? As long as he is in the system, they will take care of finding out what he needs. Social workers on staff.

He was taken to hospital emergency, and no one knows what to do with him or who fits the bill.

Somehow he needs to get a copy of his DD214 form. This is the form they give you when to exit the military. Once you have that, go to a local VA center and get a VA ID card to be in the system. Lots of phoney stuff going on in the nursing home he was at. case worker is very questionable.
Here in AZ even doctors have told us that lots of our VA problems are due to shortages of funding over the years because when people get older and want to winter in a warm place the Northern VA’s won’t release the funds to go with the patient’s seasonal migrations. For some snowbirds they figure that the VA is one united system connected by computers but some staff local to me blame the snowbirds for not updating the VA when they make their annual trek to Arizona. I find the VA very difficult and confusing but here in Central AZ they seem to be getting better. My time of doing battle with the VA is over but just be aware that in their constant effort to make things better phone numbers and names of different departments seem to be constantly changing. Schwartz led nationwide Covid-19 vaccine deployment and her long track record of directly issuing rights-crushing civilian and military vaccine mandates, including mandating injection of smallpox, anthrax, and flu vaccines into U.S. Forces, and discipling those that refused, reflects she lacks the basic ethics and morals to lead the CDC.
This agency does not need another cheerleader for industry; it needs a regulator over industry.
Her prior promotion, let alone mandates, of nearly a dozen different vaccines leave little hope she will objectively oversee CDC’s vaccine program which has, between 1986 and the 2026, gone from 3 injections to 29 injections, including in utero, by an infant’s first birthday, while chronic childhood disease has gone from under 10% to over 40% of children, most related to immune system dysregulation.

I need someone’s help here….. I’m reaching out here to the refuge cause i know you are all well aware and educated….. A 77 year old VET that had left a nursing home in Philadelphia due to extreme and inadequate care. He moved to Florida to live with his niece, and is now experiencing a lapse in continuity care. Waiting for a VA Services to be provided here and is now hospitalized due to lack of services. He requires oxygen and medication that the VA yet cannot provide., until seen by a provider in network to serving area. Please help me get this vet taken care of.

I don’t know about Florida, but if he is hospitalized and is on oxygen, in most States the hospital (or any other care facility) cannot effect an “unsafe discharge” (magic words).
The hospital has social workers on staff whose job it is to find him a bed once he no longer needs hospital level care. They can’t just dump him on the street, at least not in most States, and there may be federal rules in play on that as well.
If they need to do an emergency Medicaid / Medicare application for him, so that the step down facility with an available bed knows payment will be made, then there’s that too, probably.
Medicare rule: 3 days inpatient status (3 midnights) = 20 days rehab at 100 percent covered, then up to 80 more days at about 80 percent of Medicare picking up the cost, at a nursing and rehab facility.
Check CMS ratings and reports by facility name online at CMS before accepting transfer. Quality varies greatly.

SO…… he’s been enrolled, and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. They just cant see him til June. The kid is getting him Emergency Medicaid services and waiting on the VA. This kid is helping him. i can’t give him enough credit for fighting for a vet. There is still hope.

The suggestions in other comments above, on getting assistance in obtaining a DD214 are good ones. .
Note: One can serve in the National Guard and if their unit was not called up by Feds, they can only go to the State they served to get any benefits. They are not entitled to VA benefits (unless activated up by Feds).
I wasn’t clear what the situation was at the nursing home in PA, but if he was National Guard and was getting benefits from the State for National Guard service in PA, that could explain how he got some benefits – but was did not get full VA benefits and was never entered in the VA system.
One other possibility is he’s not a vet. If he is, the steps listed in comments above will need to be taken. Start with the DD214. Using the Information in comments above (to ask for assistance in obtaining his DD214) is how you do it.

Think of the DD214 as a passport. You have to apply for it to obtain it.
Without a DD214, it’s analogous to being outside the US and trying to get through customs without a passport. They won’t let you in.

Lebanese immigrants to the USA in the early 1900’s were all Christians; they assimilated and became Americas. They got away from muslim take over.
Then from 1948 to 1990’s another influx of Christian Lebanese; they assimilated and became American along with Syrian Christians. Many contributed to neighborhoods in North East PA.
The ‘social justice’ groupies call for diversity; in my neighborhood and schools were English, Russian/Ukrainian, Syrian, Lebanese, Portuguese, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Jewish, Spanish, Polish, Czechoslovakian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, and my mother from North Carolina was considered the most foreign, they couldn’t understand her ‘accent’.
1st generation Americans spoke all the languages, the 2nd weren’t allowed to speak anything but ‘American’…..with area slang and accent. We learned to curse in all of them because that’s the only time grandparents reverted to their old language.
Every grand parent left their country in crisis came to work and raise an American family. They built neighborhoods, towns and cities.
What a heritage AND the best food! My mother’s fried chicken was considered foreign food, but it caught on. Classical music and folk music in every home and in the back rooms jazz and swing. Elvis was received with open arms, hula hoops, too.
