Well, it looks like it’s official now. After several days of sporadic reporting on Russia’s decision to shut down the Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline into western Europe, it looks like the valves have been shut down until EU sanctions against Russia are removed.
Strategically the Nord Stream 1 pipeline is the major gas supply route into Germany, Europe’s largest economy. As noted by Reuters, “European gas prices, as measured by the benchmark Dutch TTF October gas contract, rose by as much as 30% on Sept. 5, amid growing fears of a total shutdown of Russian pipeline imports ahead of the European winter.”
Europe was already going into a deep economic recession due to inflation created by pre-existing green energy policy. The Nord Stream shutdown will make things exponentially worse as energy prices skyrocket. The Russian owned energy company Gasprom sent out a video that can be best described as psychological warfare. WATCH:

1) Russia is simply playing the same card as the US has done many a time. Fall in line or face economic sanctions. It’s little different a tool to that which the US used on Japan with the oil embargo of summer of 41. Hopefully Europe will react differently than Japan did.
2) Russia is doing to Europe what every leftist / democrat wants to do in the US – turn off the reliable source of energy. Look to what Europe will suffer through as to the future of any nation that lets their lefties turn off their domestic energy supplies. Your windmills and solar panels aren’t going to save you Germany.

The Biden administration has abruptly withdrawn American support for the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) pipeline, a project aimed at shipping natural gas from Israel to European markets. The White House said the project was antithetical to its “climate goals.”

The decision itself is what matters and anyone could guess what that would be anyway given the circumstances of needing to save the world and all. Russia should be applauded for helping in the same goal of eliminating fossil fuel use. Why would anyone complain about shutting down a natural gas pipeline nowadays? Shut them all down. The elites don’t need them. After eliminating enough useless eaters, there will be plenty of energy left for them the way they imagine. Kudzu, the problem is getting it there. Many European nations are landlocked. The demand is too large to be supplied with ships, and even if there were, there might be no available pipelines between those ports and the necessary destinations. Like it or not, Russia is the only viable supplier. (And “price” has nothing to do with it.)
I’ve pondered if this is the unstated deeper plan. If this idea is revealed to have merit, a lot of people will be reevaluating their hierarchy of power model, and taking a second look at people like George Papadopoulos.
The warning was, do NOT militarily aggravate Russia with NATO while you are economically energy dependent.
Trump was questioning the need for NATO expansion, given that most NATO nations were not paying a “fair share” % of their GDP as required. If you don’t make war, you don’t need more NATO, then the nonpayment is ok. And if you do make war, then make sure you are energy independent first.
How about not antagonizing Russia, your primary energy supplier, into attacking Ukraine? Or build more nuclear plants! And use newer fracking and horizontal drilling techniques to get new sources of oil and gas! And build liquified natural gas transfer stations and the LNG ships to carry it from the US! But no, they wasted their inheritance on windmills and solar panels, and spent their time posturing for the elites and lecturing, insulting, and opposing Trump at every turn.

But also, it is stupid for Russia to risk permanent damage to its NordStream 1 infrastructure – not to mention very great danger to its workers(!) – by running a high-speed turbine(!) that is spilling oil. (If a turbine rotor breaks at speed, e.g. due to lack of lubrication, it is a gigantic bomb.)
The only reason why replacement parts have not timely arrived from Canada is because of these “sanctions.” This situation is nothing of Russia’s making. It is a direct consequence of the bed which the West has made, and they should expect to lie in it. (This might also awaken interest in “NordStream 2!”)
There is only one way forward: cancel all sanctions, stop trying to “save” the thoroughly corrupt and evil “government” of Ukraine, and rush the necessary replacement parts and services and crews to the NordStream 1 facilities. You have no political cards left to play, and this is not politics anyway.

This is EXACTLY the situation.
The leaking turbine must be serviced by Siemans(sp) in Canada.
Once repaired there, the contract with Gasprom states that the turbine is to be shipped back to Russia. Canada refuses to ship it there because of the sanctions.
What a stupid mess that will put SO many people in misery.
