At times of greatest consequence, the legacy of leadership becomes important.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doesn’t use his official office account to release a statement on the FBI raid in Mar-a-Lago, that likely required a joint cooperative task force response from the state, as customary for fulfilment of a federal warrant upon a Florida citizen. Instead, Florida Governor DeSantis issues a tweet from his personal account noting the action was yet “another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies.” Oh well, that’s a relief, heavy sigh, as long as it’s just “another escalation”….
Quick pivot right to the whataboutism politics DC is famous for… “while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves”, and “IRS agents,” etc.
You see, this is what DC does to bang the pots and pans loudly in the UniParty kitchen. As a congressional representative, Ron DeSantis learned the chaff and countermeasures well. Actually challenge the federal government? No way. Not gonna happen.
Meanwhile, compare the response from future Arizona Governor Kari Lake:
Keep in mind, the personal account of Ron DeSantis could say anything he wants. Again, for reasons known to political followers, DeSantis chose not using the FL Gov Twitter account for his response to an FBI raid that happened in his state…. that used his joint cooperation task force to execute.
Times of consequence provide insights into strength of leadership. Or as Ron DeSantis would say “another escalation” amid a lot of escalations that have yet to reach a line where ‘escalations‘ are no longer accepted; at least not for him. Someone with political ambitions generally draws those lines in a much different place than the regular people impacted by the escalations the professional political class like to bang their pots loudly about.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ~ Sam Adams
State Representative Anthony Sabatini from Florida district 32 seems to understand the dynamic that changed today.
It’s time for us in the Florida Legislature to call an emergency legislative session & amend our laws regarding federal agencies
Sever all ties with DOJ immediately
Any FBI agent conducting law enforcement functions outside the purview of our State should be arrested upon sight
— Anthony Sabatini (@AnthonySabatini) August 9, 2022
Sundance, I am curious what your beef is with Gov DeSantis? I trust in your knowledge but I am not seeing it with this one. I am hearing a lot of conjecture but no facts (like he has gone to Davos etc) I hope you are proven wrong because I believe in DeSantis so much but I guess time will tell.
Indeed, after many years here my eyes and mind have been opened wide, but I cannot recall Sundance having a beef. He has given us two observations about de Santis to ponder, research and use as a prism as events unfold. Be assured, he is way ahead of anyone on this.
Nah it has been a subtle shift in the last month or so.
Trump has proven himself time and time again…..DeSantis has a few times, but also has demurred to the deep state a few times. As another poster stated, even Marco Rubio’s statement about the raid was stronger than DeSantis’s statement. That is what we call a clue.
Not buying it. I have yet to see real evidence and NO ONE has provided any.
You have one? I didn’t know. What are the legalities inherent to have one( federal and state)? Can any state have one? How does a state get one? I live in one that , I strongly believe, would LOVE to have one and would support one fully!
President Trumps lasting Gift is that he opened the eyes of so many.
Yes, at this point with the government going after political opponents and censoring the truth, abusing the citizenry…the USA is a Banana Republic.
Trump took a lot of heat, but ultimately was the man we needed so we could look up and see what is happening.
It’s difficult to process that in 2022 with all the information and experience we have at hand, that our government would still form in this fashion, but perhaps we have been looking in the wrong place for answers.
Compassion and Understanding > Control and Judgement. But the equation fails to work if there is no compassion and understanding for others.
I’m waiting a few days before making a judgement on DeSantis. He is known for making a concrete plan before spouting off, so perhaps that’s what is going on.
Yep I noticed the fire and brimstone response from Kari Lake compared to the newest messiah DeSantis who may I remind everyone, needed TWO TRUMP RALLIES to beat the closet boy Democrat.
Yup. DeSantis wouldn’t even be in a position to say anything if Trump hadn’t picked him up and carried him across the finish line. And DeSantis’s weak sauce is how he repays Trump.
STOP. That’s exactly what we don’t need. Kari Lake is a STRONG woman, an ALPHA woman. Don’t degrade her because of her gender. And there are PLENTY of weak males.
Yes, I questioned DeSanto’s knowledge, part in this yesterday in below liked comment. This article resonates. Sadly, DeSantos has a weak side that we have seen all to often. He’s not our answer for the oval.

Pulling the trigger too fast often results in a missed shot.
I’d say the Governor needs to pay a visit to the Sheriff of Palm Beach County.
Since DeSantis cooperated with the Feds, and the local Sheriff was involved as well, in the execution of the search warrants, that’s good information about how future events will occur.
In the realm of ‘does in matter’ to our state and local officials, compared to PDjT we’re nothing.. Chattel. Use it. Every enemy sent to God is a victory.
As I understand, Lawyers are officers of the court(s). As long has they are licensed by their state they are officers of the courts.
If an attorney is elected to the legislative branch of government he or she is still an officer of the court if their law license is still in effect. Solution. Any lawyer elected to the legislative branch must give up his or her’s “law” liscense while in elected office and 5 years after leaving elected office. Same goes any lawyer elected to any executive office such as governor or President of the US of A.
A little about judge that signed warrant
This leaves out the part of working with Epstein 2007
Note FBI connection

The purpose of J6 is to bankrupt anyone who supported Trump or who has solid information of the steal and to intimidate them into never ever speaking up against the uniparty again. To that end the J6 is going swimmingly.
Just because DeSantis didn’t go off the rails, doesn’t make him uniparty.
Why not?
Why are there STILL Dominion machines in Florida?
There is nothing “off the rails” regarding either Kari Lake’s or Anthony Saatini’s statements.
Truth.
Think treehouse is overrun with trolls today. Demcoms launched an assault using the FBI. DeSantis essentially replied “noted”. Anyone here able to read his mind regarding the counter move? Doubt it. Feds just took a dump in his state. We will see, still early days in this particular skirmish. FBI has clearly demonstrated they don’t believe they need the support of the American people. If the FBI is disbanded this will be the move that ensured a well-deserved demise.
Undoubtedly there is state ran comments here who travel in packs and upvote each other with the most absurd topics like Alex Jones. If they aren’t doing that they’re being agents provocateurs trying to nudge everyone incrementally into insurgency. It’s transparent and frankly if they are being paid for this, their bosses need to be shit canned.
I don’t think the majority of these people are trolls. I think they clearly understand when you stick a dude in a skirt it doesn’t make him a girl anymore than a R next to someone’s name makes them conservative.
DeSantis has history predating his time in front of a FL podium. Check his Congressional record. Most want to ignore it, many of us don’t.
Cheering another Brown and Brown, CFR, Chamber of Commerce, Club for Growth, Koch Brothers supported Republican isn’t in the cards for me.
If people are tolls for not trusting politicians, what are those who do?
There are no “Koch Brothers” these days in the commonly understood way this phrase is used.
Donald Trump used to be a democrat … what’s your point?
Outside the purview? So did de santis know or not? If he didn’t, then he’s being rather cowardly beating around the bush. If he did know then he may be complicit. It’s hard to say, but he did at least say something. I wonder if they’ve got blackmail on him.
No, it’s business as usual with 99.9% of the politicians.
I’ve gotta ask, why blackmail?
I simply equate this to being a good team player in the Republican club.
So a Governor avoids a canned comment for a factual comment … how is that wrong?
I am from Florida and have watched my governor fight the left to keep our state open and thriving. I was not happy when I heard he was running for governor because I had read he had been groomed to become a president at an early age. That always made me believe he would be a uniparty POS. However, given our choices to vote for governor, I was definitely happy he won the election. Moving forward, His actions as governor had “almost” completely changed my mind until he made his inadequate statements on his personal Twitter account. Such a sad day in history. God help us and save our nation because our government officials, regardless of party, do not care..
dont hate Governor DeSantis. just let this clarify that he is a good man, but NOT BIG ENOUGH to fight the STATE.
this is the sole reason why PDJT is the WEAPON OF CHOICE.
anyone against PDJT is against your survival.
(starving you out, and making your money worthless is how they will slow cook us, they will never fight you face to face)
when one is in a war, good doesn’t cut it as a leader of the fight
“The Enemy of my Enemy?” Or, “Keep your Friends close, but keep your Enemies closer?” “Look Weak When Strong. Or, Look Strong When Weak.” IMHO, These DUMB DEMONIC BASS-TURDS have Burned Down the Whole House of Cards. They are Fully Exposed to the Light , BY THEIR OWN HAND!! WE the PEOPLE WILL SMASH THEM IN THE MIDTERMS! That may spur their next Irresponsible Over Reaction Event. But We Won’t be Swayed, nor Beguiled by their Treasonous Efforts to destroy our Great Nation. Rise Up Patriots, Put on the Full Armor of God (Ephesiaans 6:10-18). FEAR NOT, For He is With Us. These Chumps Will always be Chumps! They just can’t help themselves.
For those who cannot read between the lines, I embellished it for you, the non-thinkers.
The raid of MAL (MAR-A-LARGO, Trump’s Home) is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against
the Regime’s (the Democratic) political opponents (The MEGA Republican Party), while people like Hunter Biden get
treated with kid gloves. Now the Regime (the Democratic) is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries
(All American Citizens)? Banana Republic.
weak, submitted, dazed, domesticated, lost, and talkers.
the regime does not need to worry about us. they are strategically ending us with their steps on food and energy. by the time it hits us we will have no advantage.
2023 Trump rallys organizing and meeting people locally to create mobs, groups, crowd mentalities, for courage is the only path forward.
It is sad that because we are so use to seeing poor leadership in our republican reps…..when one just does common sense moves …he is all the sudden a rock star. There are things that I am waiting for out of DeSantis….real criticism of GOPe leadership (McConnell)….paper ballots….coming out with truth about vaccines…..watch who gives him money!
When asked what he thought about this criminal action against President Trump, crazy Lindsey said., “We’re a nation of laws. Nobody’s above the law. That’s for darn sure,” the South Carolina Republican told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
I have to go past this post very quickly. Scary!
At the same time this happens I can only reach a few websites on the internet. They said it was a ‘hardware problem’ though. How is it then some webpages can’t be loaded while others can? Anyone else seeing this?
Anyway, why has the State, County law enforcement allowed this kind of Gestapo activity to occur in their own States? The Fed Boy Insurgents need to be removed from every State of the Union. They’ve absolutely crossed the Rubicon and declared war on the American people. When you see Wray showing belligerent posturing towards Senator Cruz when questioned why the FBI was using American Patriot symbols (i.e. Betsy Ross Flag) to identify people as being domestic terrorists then you know this is a very serious problem.
. . . and if you don’t see States fighting back against this type of absolute tyranny then you know they’ve already surrendered your Bill of Rights along with our Constitutional Republic.
DiSantis has capitulated to the DS and is in league with the Globalists, he is just a good actor being used to keep people thinking they have an ally somewhere in DC. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! No Ally Exists for the American citizen in DC. That animal does not exist.
when one is starving one will reach for anything that looks like food
Is DeSantis ready to crucify himself upside down for Donald trump? Probably not. Do I fault him for that? Hell no…I love DT but he is a shitload of crazy baggage and egomania that doesn’t not come with Rob DeSantis…with DeSantis you get MAGA minus crazy God complex kindergartener… sorry if the truth hurts. Ron has something DT doesn’t have…diplomacy skills and finesse. Just my 2 cents
you dont get it.
Governor DeSantis yielded to a system outside of the Constitution. therefore he can not save it. he is not BIG ENOUGH therefore it yielded to it, versus making a simple statement like Kari did
as PDJT would say Low IQ
and none of these comments like that can make us denigrate or hate Governor DeSantis. we respect him for what he can do with what he is willing to do.
different tools, different uses.
PDJT is a weapon.
All of Trumps shitload of baggage was created by our corrupt government and media, fool. DeSantis could not have gotten anything done there if he didn’t have a like minded house and senate.
coat tails. and inspiration to fight – is what PDJT provided for many politicians.
i agree with not getting sucked into fighting between the two people. maybe Governor DeSantis will see these responses and adjust.
Why would DeSantis be in such a hurry?
You are an idiot Troll. Go away with your weak Commie sauce.
In my opinion your two cents is worth less than that
No. I don’t think DeSantis is capable of undoing the damage caused by this regime. Only Trump, who already had relationships with many World leaders can. I don’t think DeSantis thinks outside the box, nor can he problem solve and make deals the way Trump can. Trump has the devotion of most Americans.
“State Representative Anthony Sabatini from Florida district 32 seems to understand the dynamic that changed today.
THIS!
I love this – can it happen? Is it legal? And do they have the will to do it?
Gov. DeSantis is being ”smeared” for actions taken by the Democrats and their ”de facto” Gestapo goon squads. Be critical of those who deserve it. DeSantis does not. Are there some commenters attempting to drive a wedge between him and Trump?
True,
this event just helps clarify why PDJT is the Weapon of choice.
Donald Trump does NOT like Ron DiSantis and mocks him regularly.
I don’t think that’s the case. I thought they were friends.
Source?
Or is he just letting the feds remove his competition?
Why are so many Republicans always so willing to project a christ complex on their political saviors?
These people are politicians… He has become a career one at that.
I thought about that. I hope not b/c he would selfishly be putting himself above everything that’s great about the country. It would show a shallowness and dismissive attitude to our constitution and freedom.
You noticed that too, huh? I’m not even going to beat around the bush about it, because it’s got Mark Elias/Norm Eisen written all over it.
Got some taking pot shots at Trump, some at DeSantis, and some getting a few in on both of them… the biggest threats to the treasonous ones. At this point I can care less about seperating the fools from the shills.
We are way too far along in the process for me to believe someone can’t discern they are doing the devils’ work, and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. And I don’t believe in coincidences… especially when they are as polished as I am seeing.
what don’t you get about someone not passing the litmus test
Did you know this because the left wing media did not report this but Barack Obama “destroyed” thousands of documents after he left office: Why wasn’t Barack Obama raided and prosecuted?
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2018/06/10/crisis_at_the_national_archives_137241.html
Shhhh do not speak poorly of the magic man
thank you Sundance for giving an appropriate and timely evaluation.
it is good you push the strong held “beliefs”. often we repeat history based on misguided assumptions.
for example:. what does desantis, Scott abs Rubio all have common?
Griffin, the billionaire donor who literally financed each of their political launches!
what do you imagine the “ask” was about?
that’s a very interesting question.
we should lo9k at that very closely, determine the truth, publish it
the truth
God Bless America
Ken Griffin is DeSantis’ largest donor, $5 million as reported last fall. Some of his hedge fund, never Trump buddies also pitched in. They make up 20% of his $55 million haul as of the last report I saw (Bloomberg). One price DeSantis probably had to pay was to keep his mouth shut on the 2020 election fraud.
“DeSantis still won’t say if he thinks 2020 election was stolen”
https://www.wfla.com/news/politics/desantis-wont-say-if-he-thinks-2020-election-was-stolen/
and there is this
they cant stop. after what they did.
2023 is about George Washington under the guise of campaining – voting occurs but so does the movement.
Everyone you put hope it fails you. the few that are attacked and are still fighting – have earned your trust.
anyone against PDJT is against you
Talk about weak responses . . . . most all fail to grasp the need to act outside of elections, not with violence, but with organized physical presence to weaken the Pillars of Support of the Biden Junta and the Administrative State.
The People always control, if they so choose.
At least he used the word “weaponization” thats pretty radical jargon for a frightened Republican
he is worried they will raid him next. versus him raiding them and booting them out of the state. or suspending federal activities in his state until accountability is proven.
DeSantis does not say that any of the escalations we have seen are acceptable. I think his actions show that he does not think they are at all acceptable.
Much as I admire the statements by Lake and Sabatini, I have no problem with DeSantis’ statement either. I like it. I think it is great, and see it as a harbinger of greater to come.
Honestly, I have no problem with the statement from DeSantis. He is definitely less dramatic, though makes his points at the same time.
so you believe Governor DeSantis is powerless in this position, and all he can do is tweet?
Didn’t you read the part where a Florida state legislator said, “ we need to convene now and MAKE laws to keep the FBI out.” Get it yet? There are no present laws for DeSantis to hold the FBI accountable…smh
laws.
the governor of the state can use his executive powers. he has that ability.
whether it holds in court or not, different question.
I understand the rationale behind developing legislature that will hold in court, but there is also a time and a season for doing extraordinary things. Governors have that power.
If he really believes that the FBI IS A WEAPONIZED POLITICAL TOOL, then he should respond accordingly.
I mean: he has to understand at some point where this weapon is going to be leveled at him, no?
and because he is a well educated attorney, he MUST understand that he can and should do everything in his power to deny the FBI any state access to ANYTHING.
that is what those words meant. A weapon. he used them. He is not wrong.
but where is the action you would expect when making these assessments?
what happens when a governor issues an executive order to detain ALL FBI AGENTS< take them to the airport and fly them all back to DC. Where they belong. Where they are less likely to eff things up even more than they already have in florida (and arguably, every state for that matter!)
I think it’s not a good strategy to sound off and use those very specific allegations…not do it on official legal means (he used his personal accounts)…and then not taking action.
it all sounds like political rhetoric to fire up his base…graham style if you like. so many politicos operate this way and it’s weak tea. Always has been.
Imagine what a radical left dem governor would do ..what they HAVE DONE with their powers?
desantis must understand this is not going to win him any support.
what is he waiting for?
the genie is out of the bottle. everyone sees it. it’s right there…been out for years.
he must know this.
and NOW FBI jackbooting THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES in FLORIDA.
it’s doesn’t get more impactful than that.
DeSantis and the rest of the quiet types on this issue had really better get with the program and do something. and make it big.
just issue an executive order. No federal law enforcement officers issued warrants OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA will be allowed to operate in Florida.
that’s it. It’s just that simple. Of course it will result in a major standoff.
GOOD!
jmho
I love DeSantis calling out the IRS plot to weaponize gov. against ALL regime-opponents (Trump voters). That is great. He is not downplaying the magnitude of the ongoing usurpation of our democratic institutions.
I also like that he doesn’t go to full battle stations immediately. Leaders should take time to think about the right strategy going forward, especially when speaking officially as the governor of FL.
DeSantis is our #2 because he earned it.
de santis has definitely earned the respect from so many and it’s authentic.
but he is not above inspection.
not on this issue.
I would agree with you that a well calculated broad spectrum strategy cannot be developed over night.
but I also remind two key points:
governors have enormous executive power.
considering that anyone following even casually the scale of corruption with the DOJ/FBI and this administration in general, there is no way no how de santis could have been blindsided. Yes, not to the date and time, but it would be so obvious to even the lowest grade aid, to brief de santis about what is likely to happen in his state wrt FBI..
this matter, while specifically is a President Trump matter, there can’t possibly be a single person in his inner circle who doesn’t understand how important it is to get out in front and start pushing back. he did it for the pandemic.
he has never done it for the stolen election or even discussed the reality of that the virus was a bioweapon intentionally released.
so to me, there are some issues with desantis that make me suspicious.
My brother likes him. 3 time combat decorated Army Officer of exemplary record, I might add. One of the few really good guys I look up to. My brother lives in Florida. I tend to agree when my brother expresses his approval of a political person. In my book, when you’ve served your country and the tip of the spear in the wars that he was directly fighting, being hyper critical of all political types seems to be high on the priority. My brother is a Christian Patriot. When he says he likes de santis and will give him support (money and other), I notice. My brother knows the other things that are red flags. I think almost everyone in Florida must know at least a few things they are curious about de santis. All leaders who demonstrate strong policies that protect citizens, generally have great sway. they have earned it. I think this is how my brother sees it.
But make no mistake, he will be voting for President Trump at least two more times before we call it a day in our lives, although separated by many states, are still the brothers who care deeply about this country and what it has meant to our own personal lives, our family, our kin, our neighbors, our community and our brothers and sisters. I trust his opinion.
having said that, I have also learned that for better or for worse, politicos have a tendency to change over time. And that means being forever vigil to notice odd behavior, omissions, and political talk . Sundance and the rest of the treepers here have had a profound effect on how I also approach the central question of HOW and WHOM were involved in launching their political careers and who still does. Accepting the money and donations is a very important part of politics, we have to be special in our assessments of exactly what kind of people are making political careers possible.
when you go there, you get a different story often. More than just contradiction, but real questions about what would be expected in return. Again, this is politics in Amercia. It IS how our political system operates. The difference is noticing is there is an actual righteous authentica and legitimate reason to explain certain actions of a politician and how it might relate to donors. That’s the job of a very important segment of investigative journalism. I wish I had the talent to make it professionally and produce content. But I’m lucky. I have this wonderful person, SUNDANCE…and the entire staff and crew here at THE LAST REFUGE to supply outstanding debate and analysis. I enjoy mostly the political philosophy. That is to say, what the values and aspirations are and not what brand names like GOP and DNC mean. It has to be morally correct. And there are so very few that meet the minimums. De santis has certainly proved he meets certain minimums.
but always…we must continue to reassess and measure our leaders. it’s very very very important.
we are in stage 4 – transfer of power.
If you are unfamiliar, I will provide all 7 stages and explain each, in the evening 2022 PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS thread. I don’t want to create a huge chunk of text here on this thread.
either he has a very weak and not too bright staff, or he just doesn’t care about these issues for reasons that I can’t even begin to fathom.
these are just my opinions. I have stated on these boards many many times, how much I respect desantis, but I am also documenting specific issues that his administration does not take leadership over. But if I am also going to
I find it disheartening and typical of Conservatives to attack their own when any criticism mounted should be directed towards the Left. Specifically, I am referring to the writer of this article who finds it proper to attack Governor DeSantis, as have some readers in their comments as well. Has it been 24 since the FBI searched the President’s home? Has anyone truly had the opportunity to absorb what has happened or the ramifications? Are you the writer, or you the reader, governor of any state in the Union? If you are you might then understand the ramifications of this act and how to comment and proceed against this unprecedented act by the federals, in a trail of unprecedented acts against our President. Possibly you would also like to criticize the President’s comments, as well. If you have not noticed we might simply be one-brick-thrown-through-a-window, away from a civil war and I do not say that lightly. It would be very unwise to begin attacking those on your own side simply because you don’t know how you should proceed against your enemy or might be too timid or cowardly to do so. In the future every friend will be a treasure to cherish.
I saw DeSantis shut down Disney with a good smack across the monetary jaw. He defended the children from groomer types in public schools. He kept Flroida open..but because he did not come out ineffectually swinging..like what is he supposed to do???… he is being chastised as par of the Khazarian Mafia deep state. He is for Balforuistan and I find any support of a country with no extradition treaty with the US, that has stolen stacks of top secret docs several feet high and got many field agents killed via Pollard, ripped the Pentagon off for a TRILLION ala Dov Zakheim and tried to sink the US Liberty and blame it on others..well frankly I find that suspect. OK.. Well PTrump supports Balfouristan too. PTrump also signed an EO in Sept 2019 for a recombinant RNA vaccine..when there was no pandemic.. I would like to think someone can shut down this multi-hundred year drug dealing cartel that rules the planet.. That someone comes from a much higher pay grade than any inhabiting the Earth realm currently. The call for that presence of The Avatar comes from the God honest salt of the earth types, known colloquially as conservatives..those who wish to conserve their culture. We are up against revolutionaries..and on a demonic and ultimately satanic level. I don’t have a score card..Just my innate survival senses and to use a metaphor..my spidey senses are tingling..things are not what they appear.
Simply put, Ron DeSantis doesn’t want Trump’s competition when he decides to run for president in 2024. So he helped the DoJ or didn’t do anything to discourage them, and hopes they can take Trump out of the running.
Why should DiSantis protect Trump, a political rival? He may be helping the DNC’s goons get rid of him.
So because of the raid, Hillary is BLATANLY selling merchandise, hats and t-shirts that say, …”But her emails.”
The bitch needs to be in an orange jump suit. This makes my blood boil.
