Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have announced a private congressional teleconference between the exclusive confab of DC elites and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that will take place on Wednesday. Congress has allocated $13.6 billion in “Ukraine-related” aid, with “10% for the big guy.”
The subject matter of the virtual meeting will likely surround the allocation of taxpayer indulgency fees to support Ukraine and the Non-Governmental Organizations run by the families of DC conference participants. The meeting provides Zelenskyy the first opportunity to thank congress for deposits into his offshore holdings and celebrate his magnanimous money laundering operation.
Meanwhile, taxpayers who fund the congressional spending will be kept away from the private meeting by armed guards, fences and barbed wire constructed around the House of Representatives. There is apparently and ongoing concern that the people who fund government might actually get too close to the government they are required to fund.
Yes, this is the ongoing state of our union, and our voices are irrelevant to their conduct.

“As war rages on in Ukraine, it is with great respect and admiration for the Ukrainian people that we invite all Members of the House and Senate to attend a Virtual Address to the United States Congress delivered by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine on Wednesday, March 16th at 9:00 a.m.,” they wrote.
“The Congress remains unwavering in our commitment to supporting Ukraine as they face Putin’s cruel and diabolical aggression, and to passing legislation to cripple and isolate the Russian economy as well as deliver humanitarian, security and economic assistance to Ukraine. We look forward to the privilege of welcoming President Zelenskyy’s address to the House and Senate and to convey our support to the people of Ukraine as they bravely defend democracy,” Pelosi and Schumer wrote in the letter.
The speech is only open to members of Congress. To attend, lawmakers who aren’t fully vaccinated will need to wear a mask. (read more)

The General said that Greece and Slovakia (NATO) members should supply their Russian made missle defense systems to Ukraine.
Jessie followed up with a statement that it would be cool for Russian planes to be shot down by Russian defense systems.
No one addressed the immediate question that came to my mind.
What were NATO members doing propping up the Russians by purchasing missile defense systems from them?
So we are carrying the load in $ to protect NATO countries from Russia while the countries we are propping up are spending major dollars on Russian defense systems?

Many decades ago, when young and full of myself, I’d laugh a bit and roll my eyes when dad would talk about his rosary and its meaning to him when in Italy during the war.
I still have it and am not laughing any more. It’s never too late to reconnect with one’s spirituality, even if it flies in the face of a lifetime of pragmatism. I believe this is a challenge we will rise to meet and overcome.
I find myself thinking more and more often of being a four-year-old child, peeking through my fingers while kneeling next to my Dad. Sometimes he would take me to the 6:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays, and prayed the Rosary before Mass began. 65 years later, I can still remember how earnestly he prayed.
Seems like, yes, now would be a good time to follow his example…

I have my dad’s rosary and his My Daily Bread prayer book circa 1954. Most precious of all, his Catholic Prayer Book published in 1925 with the Imprimatur of Archbishop Patrick Cardinal Hayes, which he received upon the occasion of his Confirmation. This was the book he carried during WWII with the crocheted cross his mom tucked inside before he left. The incredible valor and bravery of the men who fought that war was possible because of their faith in the Lord.
With all the hubris of a Sixties child, I turned away from the church for many years. My dad prayed for me every day and never stopped asking me to go back to Mass. Sadly, he died before my return to the faith – to my everlasting remorse. Praying with his rosary is so humbling. You’re so right that it’s never too late to reconnect.

Some time ago, I believe, during the Trump Impeachment era, pictured Democratic Members “Put-On These Scarfs” during a ceremony event.
