The absence of food will change things….. Quickly.
The issues will fluctuate region by region and chain by chain as we enter the destabilization phase. In this phase the impacts in some operators will be small, and in others will be more noticeable. The difference will be the overall operational excellence in the proprietary business system they operate.
However, once the internal merit is exhausted, the manufacturing issues will impact all food retailers regardless of their warehouse and distribution excellence, or lack thereof. Ironically, small independent stores might be in the best position to withstand fresh supply pressure as they are closer to the field.
The further away the retail business operation is from the farmer, the greater the impact. The more people, systems and bureaucracy there are between the retailer and the farmer, the greater the operational impact. The longer the supply chain, the greater the impact. It is an unusual dynamic, but the local farmers’ markets are going to be the best source of consistent local supply. That reality is why the urban areas are going to be hit the hardest.
In this media report from Philadelphia, the local NBC affiliate blames the food supply issues exclusively on Omicron.
This claim is patently false [SEE HERE].
.
The final straw, to collapse the remaining supply, will likely be the cross-border truck driver vaccine mandate which kicks in on January 15th.
After that, things start to get sketchy.
Queue up the circus music.
Sorry, out of popcorn.
Don’t forget the Soda!!!!
Wonder if the liquor stores will be impacted???
Askin’ for a friend!!!!
Hope not. Life is a Cabernet old chum.
I went to Aldi, Kroger and my local liquor store today, supplies seemed pretty strong though meat looked thin. Was at Walgreens and the over the counter drug aisles were 1/2 empty.
My butcher is short on pork and chicken prices are out of this world.
I was at Publix last weekend. They had boneless, skinless chicken breasts at buy one/ get one. It was a great deal! The beef prices, not so great.
I bought pork from a local pig farmer who took 8 pigs to market when his processor finally had enough people to process them a couple weeks ago. He had everything in stock this past Saturday. I don’t remember the last time he wasn’t out of at least one item.
We are fortunate to live in generally rural community that yet abounds with farm and ranch products. More local sources have been offering their goods in produce and meat in direct sales to consumers.
Krogers in Colorado are all out on strike today
For?
Kings in the Springs are NOT striking. Denver is.
<My butcher is short on pork…>
If only it were the Congressional Bills 🙂
I went to the local butcher shop today and the meat counter was half empty. Paid $9.00 per lb.
for boneless chuck roast.
Booze and cigarettes are sacred. Blasphemy! 😀
Someone once stated, “Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms” should be the name of a convenience store and not a government agency.
I’ve got popcorn in gallon jugs. I barter 😉
More seriously, yes I do have popcorn in gallon jugs and I’m thinking the best way to deal with this insanity is to find some humor in it.
I ordered a case of canned spinach this morning for the same price I paid for it two years ago. Couldn’t believe my eyes. It’ll supposedly be here this evening. Spinach make me strong like Popeye, carry big log!
Humor IS vital, as we enter the second phase of this planned and manipulated “winter of death”.
To control nations , control oil .
To control people , control food.
Henry Kissinger ( paraphrased )
“It’s a shame
Iraq and IranDemocrats and Republicans can’t both lose.”–more Henry Kissinger paraphrasedIt is the ultimate goal. Absolutely.
As Democrats and Republicans ARE (Janus-like) two sides of the same coin, that is most definetly THE GOAL.
THEY are trying to distract us, that the goal “is to BEAT those !*#!! rackefrack DEMOCRATS, in 2022.
No, the GOAL is to oust Uniparty Republicons, Undeclared Democrats, and give MTG some company.
Exactly Dutch. I will vote for the third party if their are no non-uniparty candidates, period. Uniparty is uniparty no matter what’s listed next to their name.
Ditto that. MTG needs a whole lot of company.
Democrats will fix the little red wagons of Americans for voting for Trump!
You haven’t seen anything yet. Wait until the EBT card holders can’t buy food in the inner city. They will burn the cities down.
I wouldn’t want to be a grocery store owner at that point. They are going to be scapegoated worse than they are right now. They are going to be vandalized severely by the weak, low information folks.
they will burn their own stores down lol
Off the subject but any thoughts to the NCAA coming out today and recognizing Natural Immunity as “Fully Vaccinated” for NCAA athletes that have had Cv-19 with the catch that the fully vaccinated status will last for 90 days from infection? Funny how this change in tune occurs 6 weeks out from the start of College Basketball March Madness and the 90 day window from now would close a week or so after the National Title game April 4th.
Yeah because covid is so scary.
And because everyone knows that Covid, unlike with every other virus, is only susceptible to antibodies resulting from previous infection for 90 days. (eyeroll!)
Hey, even if that WERE true, it would be over 100 days longer than the immunity “conferred” by the vax, no matter how many boosters you get.
Not nearly as scary to them as losing all that revenue from the televised March Madness, haha.
Where did you see that?
Link?
NBA will have to follow the $’s too for their playoffs
ssssssssSSSSSSCIENCE!!!
Immovable COVID vs Unstoppable Food Shortage.
Which will the left choose?
Yes.
As with all communists, those at the top will have their food, those below, won’t.
And of course, there will be media to support the communists at the top, because they know they will be taken care of as long as they continue the message they are in lockstep with, with the communists at the top.
If the left is in power and has the media on their side, they will believe they can cover up anything and do anything and remain untouched.
The left must use the COVID fear to maintain power.
Therefore, the left will choose COVID over food for the masses.
Then the Republicans, who have been suppine through all this, better take cover. Because they are the ones I blame for not grabbing the seat of their pants at any point to sabotage this inhumane situation we find ourselves in now and going forward.
They may be very surprised if the red wave turns into a ripple. I will no longer vote for a rino unless a commie is running in opposition. Do not get too excited Pubs we the people are furious with you as well.
Praying for some ethical conservative challengers. Praying very hard there are patriots in the wings.
WHY the caveat “unless”?
I made the personal commitment, a recognition of reality, really that I COULD (NOT “would”) no longer cast a vote for a Rino; I simply couldn’t vote for Romney, cause “holding my nose” wouldn’t prevent projectile vomiting.
So, I voted and left the POTUS blank.
In 2018, I COULD NOT vote for the Rino, McSally and so left the ballot blank.
Kirsten Synema won, and by her ‘bio’ and resume, I thought her a hard left ‘pinko’.
And yet, by refusing to vote for BBB, and saying she WILL NOT vote to drop the fillibuster, she is representing me far more effectively than McSally the Rino ever could have.
The Rino dominated GOPe have absolutely NO PROBLEM throwing a seat to the Dems, in order to prevent it going to a MAGA candidate, WE need to be as pragmatic and cold blooded.
She has been a surprise. McNally was worse than useless.
The Dems aren’t the only ones who can front a sleeper agent. LOL.
Her skull and butterfly earrings spoke volumes.
And now they are stuck with her.
Yes but I always wonder if the blanks get filled in by someone else after it leaves my custody. Sinema has grown and changed alot. I have not been surprised by her.
Boris E. and Bannon predict the end of the Democrat party. I have to laugh because the Republicans will never let that happen.
Of course not! The GOP doesn’t want the responsibility for becoming THE major party expected to do something, anything….for us.
With all eyes on it, it too would soon face its end, as it should.
No, they won’t. They are interdependent. Like Siamese twins.
Boris said Fauci was done months ago then he said Arizona was hot and voter fraud would be exposed…he is a sensationalist….I really don’t like him or listen to him. I like Bannon… That picture of Jesus he has above his right shoulder is one I also used to have; there is a matching Immaculate Heart of Mary….someone gave them to me and said they were a vision that someone unknown had…curious how Bannon received those pictures.
Yup…the masses must be culled.
Good luck with that if the people are starving.
I’ll JUST say this NOW:
When the liberal cities have NO food on the shelves then that is when the NATIVES of those area(s) will rise. I would NOT want to be in ANY PART OF ANY GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY when that happens…
The natives will become restless and DEMAND FOOD AND OTHER ESSENTIALS…would not want to be in any city such as Newark, DC, LA, Chicago, NYC, Houston…
Their hatred will be diverted to “right-wing extremists”; i.e., everyone on the right. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move towards a one-party system.
I kind of doubt that. I strongly suspect that voter fraud has been propping these machines up….and now the urban natives know this for certain. I don’t think any kind of blame casting is going to work at that point.
Any distribution of food is what channels them.
Think antifa on steroids, for MRE or even sacks of grain.
Hunger is an extremely dangerous situation
REALLY? ,…A ONE -PARTY system?
We have HAD a One party system masquerading as a two party system, my whole life.
As usual, this is going to hurt the group of people they say are being discriminated against, the most. But, they don’t care. No amount of food stamps matters if there isn’t any food!
Been saying for some time “treepers, get OUT of the cities!”
Cities HAVE gotten worse, but yes this food shortage manufactured crises is going to make it MUCH worse.
Created shortage will lead to rationing, making “hording” illegal, then “ration cards” dependent on Vax status, as an additional tool to “make the unvaxxed uncomfortable” and “piss on them”.
Black market, coming soon to YOUR neighborhood.
The left will resort to eating dirt cookies like they do in Hati. They will have a celebrity chef do a segment on the view. ‘Wanna eat healthier cookies? Wanna get all your minerals from cookies? We have Bobby Flay up next with his take on Haitian dirt cookies, and they’re Keto friendly!”
Camera pans to the Karen studio audience all masked up screaming and clapping non stop.
Covid always wins.
Philly media’s blame for grocery store shortages, are as credible as their election results.
The MEDIA is the enemy of the people. Cancel all mainstream media.
How to deal with a woke reporterette trying to lecture you on “cancel culture.”
He’s a lumberjack and he’s okay!
Heh, that was Michael Palin. Cleese was one of the disgusted Mounties…who weren’t as okay…with the lumberjack, that is. 🙂
The current fear will continue until it is replaced by a new fear.
If they credited Buttigieg with saving Christmas, they will trot someone out to save the dinner table.
The cross border trucking issue will potentially seriously impact those of us in Canada. We don’t grow anything in winter and, at least where I live, most fresh food comes from California or Mexico during winter months. I also can’t imagine that if the US starts running short of fresh food that they’ll continue exporting it.
Are any of those frozen food warehouses that buffer the food supply located in Canada?
I believe there are some, but I don’t know how long they can supply if sources are disrupted. I’ve certainly filled my freezer with veges just in case.
No problem with doing that. Biden has drawn down our strategic oil reserves and is at this minute shipping them to Europe. He’d export our food in a heartbeat. He and Trudeau are besties, I believe.
Not exactly gourmet, but don’t rule out frozen and canned food. Also, dried beans and rice; all mentioned have long shelve lives and will not be scarfed up, initially. Also, don’t throw away your bacon fat. You need some fat to process amino acids/proteins. Start purchasing seeds suitable for your growing zone in Canada. Stay cool; you will make it through until we all come out at the other end of this goat rope.
Yes – I’ve been stocking up for months on canned and frozen.
Thx. Been feeling stupid for doing what I saw when young.
Crazy as it sounds I saved Dandelion seeds this past summer.
Here in northern Minnesota there won’t be any farmer’s markets until mid-summer at the earliest, and dandelions are delicious and good for you, but won’t be popping outta the ground here until April — if the snow is gone by then.
I’m putting Dandelion seeds in with my house plants tomorrow. Not having something “fresh” to eat would be very hard for me.
I am thankful for Sundance’s words of warning starting many weeks ago.
Thank you, Sundance.
Why are all the tomatoes I buy in the store, over these winter months, Canadian grown? Hot houses I’m guessing?
Hot houses, likely. When I lived in SoCal, Mexico was the source.
Hot house is normal for slicers/beefsteak, etc, usually the bin or tags will indicate origin; late season greens they gas for other types like roma. Some imports, I’m not up on that anymore.
We grew tomatoes pretty late, November anyway, where I historically serviced ag. Most went to sauce. They might grow them year round down in the Salton Sea area/Imperial Valley.
Agriculture in California pretty much operates year round in some form or fashion. The trucks and machines never stop.
I’m in Washington State and used to purchase tomatoes and cukes in the winter grown by BC Greenhouse. I rarely buy any fresh out-of-season veggies anymore. After gardening season ends, I use canned tomatoes and live without cukes. https://bcgreenhouse.ca/growers/
Thanks for that link!
Must be….I live in the warmest part of Canada and no tomatoes are grown here until summer…
They’ll continue to export unless the feds stop them. Muh capitalism!
Ukraine was forced to export food to Russia in the 1930s, even though Ukrainians were dying of starvation by the tens of thousands. (a.k.a. the Holodomor).
I wouldn’t put it past our regime leaders to export our food to Canada or even china–even if we Americans were literally dropping dead in the streets from hunger.
The Communists devastated agriculture in CA. Your produce is coming from Mexico.
Of course we will; Biden hates us.
Following Braniac Bozo Biden’s talking points that were scripted by his handler’s.
If dreams could come true!
Treason deserves no less.
It’s ALREADY unsafe to drive in parts of Philly, lest you get carjacked. Also, being robbed in mall parking lots is not that uncommon.
BUT, once these ‘shortages’ make the thugs desperate, the sh*t will hit the fans.
They might not rob stores to get work boots, but they’ll definitely be happy to ‘jack’ your shopping cart in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
How long before actual food riots?
Will Biden start producing/distributing Soylent Green?
Hijacking shopping carts. I suppose it’ll come to that.
How soon will the “tail gunner on a beer truck” joke become reality?
All too soon. Riding shotgun on commercial vehicles will probably be yet another facet of our “new normal”. Given the muzzle put on LEOs, private security business should thrive.
It may seem odd but armed people on the streets is normal in Israel. Works as good for groceries as it does for kids.
We’re not as obvious where I live but open carry is fine and many do. Lots of vehicles have the keys left in them too. We don’t bite, much 😉
My wife ALMOST had that happen, two years ago.
You know those devices they put on shopping carts, to lock the wheels at the edge of the parking lot?
It malfunctioned, so my wife left the cart, and walked over to get her car, drive it around and load her groceries.
Was just one row over, and down a little. When she arrived back at the cart, a women was huriedly loading our groceries in HER car.
SAID she was going to take them back to the store, to insure nobody stole them, but that was bullshirt.
And that was several years ago!
Can just see someone pushing a cart towards their car. Guy sticks a gun in their face, and they hold up their keys and wallet.
Thief ignores them, and just grabs the cart.
Don’t forget the PHILLY Heroin Humps!!!!
The jam at the border is gonna be epic!! Especially at Buffalo and the Thousand islands crossing. Those Canuck border guards are going to be Rich!!
I used to use that Peace Bridge crossing when I was working in Canada from time to time. The guys are not too bad. The females are to be avoided.
You are right about the backups. The trucks were often backed up for miles even without a crisis to cause it.
Females with power are always the worst. I direct your attention to Ardern in New Zealand and Merkel in Germany as only two examples. There are many more.
I guess those females on the Left, especially, feel the need to outdo their male counterparts. Too often in the worst ways. Our own governor of Oregone, as a fine example.
I really should have included her as an American example. Mea culpa.
PJ O’Rourke on Hillary: “The mind of a prison matron and the soul of an East German border guard”.
I’d forgotten that one, TGL! Thanks for the reminder. 😂😂😂
Don’t forget ‘if a tree falls in the woods, etc. vs if there’s a group of people drinking and nobody else finds out. It’s not a party.’ In Scotland.
What kind of food are we getting from Canada that this will matter so much? I’m not downplaying it, but don’t we get a lot of produce domestically?
Grain , from whatever the source is processed into goods like crackers in Canada.
There must be other items.
I notice we get a lot of Tomatoes from Canada.
No in the winter months in the us most of our produce comes from south of the border – mexico, peru, chile etc. a candian posted on here much of their fruit in winter also comes from mexico. We don’t have the growing climates year-round.
Dairy products are a huge export from Canada to the US.
I suppose. I live next to Wisconsin so I don’t notice drastic price change when it comes to that.
Yes, check your labels, a lot of fresh produce comes from my historical area of California. It’s less in winter but still the Imperial Valley area in the south produces pretty much year round.
Seed Potatoes.
I wonder if Biden is taking a page out of Stalin’s playbook and attempting to phase in an American-style Holodomor.
I don’t wonder that his handlers are.
You’ll know when Josef Stolen starts blaming the Slim Jim and Slurpee shortage on “Trotskyites, mad dog fascists, imperialist running dogs and wreckers”.
“Ironically, small independent stores might be in the best position to withstand fresh supply pressure as they are closer to the field.”
This is precisely true of the independent (local chain) market I shop at. We are in an area where many small operators run beeves on grass, and the processor is local. Fresh meat is always abundant in their stores. Ditto fresh milk and some forms of cheese.
Pet food, on the other hand, is almost nonexistant. Ditto cracker from Nabisco and Keebler.
Years ago, we hosted a guest from Moscow. She was flabbergasted watching me feed our 2 dogs. When I asked her why she was so surprised at my mundane task, she replied that there wasn’t any dog food in Moscow. Pet owners had to make their own food!
Never did I think that situation would happen in the US!
In Italy (Florence) they fed them rice. And there was always dog diarrhea all over the sidewalks/streets.
That was back in the 70’s, may be different now.
Make sure to put away a box of dehydrated potato buds (ore Ida mashed, plain, just spuds) bc it stops doggy diarrhea! It’s one of the first things in the prepper pantry!
(Newfie with runs is a horrible horrible thing)
I make our dog food and we freeze it in individual containers.
I make chicken soup with lots of vegetables. (2gal stock pot, 4 leg quarters, carrots, celery, potatoes, onions. Tomato)
We usually have a couple soup dinners and freeze most of the stock.
Then. I debone the chicken, mush the vegetables (remove onions), add water, heat and add grains: cooked brown rice, raw whole oats, corn meal, any you wish that are good for dogs..
I cook just until grains are soft. Then let it cool and put in freezer containers.
The dogs love it. My mom and grandmother always made our dogs food.
You can add your leftovers to the mix, if they are dog safe, for a little variety. Our dogs love it. They sit and watch me make it! It’s a little unnerving to see 2 large dogs patiently watching me stir their pot of dinners. Of course. It’s fresh that day!
I also make a nice chamomile ear/face rinse with a tea ball of chamomile steeped in hot water. I refrigerate the tea and pour some in little bowl. Reheat to warm then I dip a paper towel in a little dish of chamomile tea and wash their faces and ears (separate PT’s for each and one for cat).
They LOVE it! When I had wuflu, I was too sick to give them their chamomile wash and looked out window and saw German Shepherd rolling in my chamomile bed in garden!
TMI as usual but I love our pets and it’s wonderful to see them happy when we do things for them!
Absolutely, Chad. I live in a somewhat rural area about 2 hrs. west of the 3rd world dump known as Philadelphia and have found the small independents pretty well stocked. On the other hand, a larger chain like Giant/Eagle is beginning to show empty gaps in some of their aisles. I suspect it will only get worse.
No orange juice at all, any brand, any size container, at the Giant where I was shopping today. Also a couple of hours West of Philadelphia.
Areas closest to agriculture (rural towns esp) will be okay: most people know and/or are related to someone involved with farming. They take care of their own.
Whoever survives the food riots and violence from the likely burned-out cities will head to the countryside. Hopefully they will be so weak from rioting and lack of food that they won’t get far.
Of course, the rural folks are well armed and good marksmen (due to a hunting lifestyle), so city dwellers wanting to loot the countryside may run into….lead poisoning.
I heard that there’s militia in my rural part of pa outside of Philly. 😉 Could just be gun owners who Target practice….
We have driveway alarms that beep in garage and house when someone passes them on driveway.
Highly recommend. Dogs trained themselves to bark if they hear the beeps.
I notice that with my local IGA store they are pretty
well stocked and have excellent meats compared to our
chain store like Stop & Shop which when
I went today had many empty spots on shelves and the
canned cat food section was literally BARE..not one can
left on the shelf..yet IGA was pretty
well stocked with canned cat food.. I can usually get
the things I can;tfind at the big store at the IGA..
Although they seemed to be running
low on the juice box canned juice as well..not sure why.
I was able to order canned cat food from Petco
they seemed to have most
of it in stock..at least at the moment.
The only issue with IGA is they don;t have a big
selection of brands but when your hungry who cares…
Canned salmon, inexpensive boiled/roasted chicken/turkey. Canned tuna (low sodium! Water or oil. Not broth) are all good alternative to canned cat food. Trust me. The cheapest chicken is still far superior to the stuff you get in those cans!
(I read about “meal” ingredients. our cat died from urine crystals one reason they get those is high sodium in canned food. Feathers, etc are NOT nutritious!)
I’m old enough to remember the previous winter of illness and death. Why were there no shortages when there was covid but no vax ?
I suppose Covid was enough. No point in piling on, just yet.
I suspect much of the food was warehoused surplus from year prior. Would explain why potatoes and onions no longer had shelf life at home.
In Philly don’t watch what is called “The News”. Sundance has the best info and sources gives me a talking point with some who tell me what “the News ” said. The media has a grip but it is slipping, tests will be or are starting to change, but the fear factor is very high. Time is the big factor in all of this it rolls slow people are at the end of the rope on the covid. One other in Philly you need to bring your own BAGs for your groceries plenty happy people under the mask. HA HA
To loose control of power, try to control people using food in a nation that has the right to bear arms.
I looked left. I looked right.
Thought long and hard…
Then I tried to give you a thousand thumbs up!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sssshhhhhhhhsssh. Lay low on the to A stuff
I’m a warm blooded Russian; I bare my arms all the time in the winter. 😉
Unfortunate boating accident..
This should be fun to watch. The lefties will believe it’s COVID no matter what happens – idiots.
Exactly.
Leftists killing leftists is very entertaining. Sit back and enjoy the show.
Sort of. I feel sorry for anyone that isn’t prepared and is trapped in a blue city. That said, we all make our own choices ….
But one has to pay attention first and be situationally aware. Two traits sadly lacking in Dem controlled cities.
Situational awareness and paying attention are above the comprehension of the lowly left indoctrinated sheeple. And that is the way their masters want to keep it.
Because the government will always look after them, or so they’ve been indoctrinated to believe. Daddy government wouldn’t do anything to hurt them. I fear for their children.
Two traits sadly lacking in most Americans today.
The Left has worked diligently to expunge those two traits from the masses.
Well, school is about to commence. It’ll be a shock to many.
My wife and I prepared by retiring far away from our former Blue City suburb…..we also worked at Ground Zero FOR the Blue City of Los Angeles. We retired and moved not a moment too soon. Seven years ago, to Southern Oregon in a small mostly Red City close to family. Although local and transplanted Blues are are working hard to transform the area to blue.
The Left can never figure out that they are their own worst enemies and insist on continuing their destructive ways wherever they go. Always promising to do it right……this time.
Having such feelings defines a healthy soul IMO. However, sacrifices and unfortunate outcomes are part of the human experience. Usually we get along OK. Now isn’t one of those times. Hopefully widespread casualties can be avoided.
I feel bad for the kids and disabled. Everyone else – well they had/have options.
“With reasonable men I will reason; with humane men I will plea; but to tyrants I will give no quarter, nor waste arguments where they will certainly be lost.”
Who said that?
William Lloyd Garrison, best I can tell.
https://www.quotes.net/quote/13233
Thank you!
It sounds very much like Marcus Aurelius.
William Lloyd Garrison
Want to take this opportunity to say, thank you SUNDANCE!!!! Without reading your pieces on the CTH, most of us would not be as prepared as we currently are. Sincerely, Thank you!
Indeed!
He is indispensable, manning the battlements singlehandedly.
Ditto 1000%
At this point I suggest folks stop posting on the web how well prepped they are.Zip it.😐
Heh! Yes, but better to not be telling the neighbors or close “friends”. That would be my worry.
I agree… and don’t put out your empty cans to be recycled.
That’s a good point. Posting can also be useful in signaling to the government lurkers for purposes of honeypots. It all depends. For most people I’d agree, better to keep it zipped. Opsec is the fancy acronym I think.
Starvation is .. ‘ Transitory ‘ — The experts.
Its true, actually. Starve long enough, and eventually ALL your problems, including lack of food, cease to be problems, any more.
A field trip to Cuba 5 years during the regime of “O” educated me in everything I needed to know about communist run economies.
We went on the “educator” visa. My wife, daughter, and son in law were the educators, which they are. I was the raging capitalist. My daughter is fluent in spanish. The trip was EPIC. We stayed in Airbnb traded black market money (there are two tiers of currency). We were there for 2 weeks and we’re all over the island, living as locals. We were given access to the “elite” restaurants and shopping. I observed and was educated beyond my expectations…. I could drone on for hours. We as a group were monitored and watched the entire time, we had a monitor when we traveled to Habana in a 59 Ford ragtop, top down with glorious sunshine. Airport leaving… the 3 educators passed right thru… me pulled aside and taken to a room. Uh-oh….trading money, what did I do???
Question…. If Donald Trump came here what would he think of Cuba…….?? We talked and kibbitzed for for a bit and I was free to go, family was glad to see me. Have faith, the communists will never be victorious.
There is something educative about visiting or living in another country which cannot be equalled by an expensive education. My finest education came by living overseas for a very long while. I’ve often said if I had to choose to torch either my 20 years abroad or my university diploma, I’d say give me the matches… and I wouldn’t hesitate to set the latter alight.
All the media has to do is run a few “empty shelves” stories to create a run of panic buying.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have todays winner of the interwebs.
The media and the politicians deserve to be hung until dead at this point.
The harm they have done to the mental and physical health of humanity
is beyond the pale.
There isn’t a rope shortage, yet. Just sayin’.
I wonder if this is the reason these leftist prosecutors have given a pass to low level crimes. Perfect recipe for anarchy, a prerequisite to the suspension of the constitution.
Great way to recruit mercenaries too. We saw a lot of that last year.
I heard some guys talking about not being able to find food in the store.
One said “I know where the food is and I’m gonna go get it.”
Like white people have all the food…
That movie from a decade or so ago called ‘Contagion‘ covered the food aspect pretty well.
Hence, trading a big, obvious house in on a doublewide in the forest. Big houses that look like money usually have nice pantries. Mine did for decades. The pantry didn’t change, it just got less obvious.
Or. Be the smaller, older home amongst the big’uns.
I’m also politely friendly to the misc Amazon delivery people out here from Philly. While the dogs loudly back me up.
My hubs does his part by not being too picky about the yard. 😉
Food suppliers and retailers will be scapegoats.
How long before the term “black market” raises its ugly head?
Corporatism, we hardly knew ye..
It’s already quite robust. The 600 buck analysis of bank accounts is signaling they know how robust it is.
but of coarse, that RASCIIIST.
Unauthorised market? Undocumented market?
Put an “X” on the end?
WHATS A LIBBIE to DO?
Generally speaking, dead and sick people don’t eat alot of food, so……..
Local Philly news is the fakest of fake news.
Plenty of “free” jabs and boosters, plenty. No shortages there.
Priorities…
“Take two, just to be sure, and sign up for your monthly boosters!”
Wife and I have always toyed with the idea of building a reasonable sized greenhouse since we live in the mountains and gardens are just not that practical (tried). I have always nixed the idea of a GH in that the cost/benefit doesn’t add up. I argued you never will recoup the cost of building, heating and watering the thing. But now the economics are really changing. She argues that our hunting and fishing really isn’t that cost effective either, what with gas and equipment and I say at least we get some payback from our recreation. I priced out the GH panels and lumber the other day. One 4’x 12′ insulated greenhouse panel for $150. We already have chickens and of course lots of available fish and game. I may not wait for the snow to melt to get our GH project underway.
I built one decades ago out of repurposed lumber and redwood siding and extra shingles and some leftover plexiglass for windows. Hardly ever used it due to the naturally long growing season.
Built it to take it apart, which is what I’m going to do this month, and haul it hundreds of miles to its new home in the forest.
We’ve got quite a cooperative going in the ‘hood and my area of expertise is, historically, agriculture, not the food part, but the infrastructure part, like growing, irrigating, fertilizing, that science.
So, I’ll help the neighbors get their gardens started in the greenhouse and we’ll see how things go. Plenty for everyone.
Good luck with yours!
To maximise GH productivity, AND savr gas/effort on fishing, research “Aquaponics”.
You’ll be glad you did!
Submerged greenhouse – might need pump for water – earth aids temp control.
We have nice grow lights in our laundry room with a large South facing window. We use them to start seedlings but also leaf lettuce grows nicely under them.
go for it, what is the cost equivalency compared to having NO food?
michigan is like a big cul de sac… like florida only with (way) smaller ports.
I’m wondering if you think that will cause expediated problems for a state where most of the trucks have to
retrace their paths?
I was in a local Marcs Grocery today in an East Cleveland suburb. I noticed right away they had rearranged the layout. Then I realized that they have food items but the choices between brands have dwindled to one or two. They only offered Campbells or Progresso soup, they had half an aisle, and their aisles are fairly long of the packaged romaine noodles! Almost every food item had only a couple of brand choices and that often included the local brand, not National. Fresh produce was fair and again, little choice, I couldn’t find any organics. They had loads of canned beans from a company I never saw before.
I think the shortage is much larger than people realize because stores have been hiding it by rearranging and putting out whatever they can get their hands on.
Good grief! The Neverending Virus of Death!! Winter, then Spring, then…….as long as far too many compliant sheeple continue to allow it.
Galveston will report in tomorrow we are doing a stock -up.
I love white perch and northern pike that comes wild caught from Canada lakes. I used to fish there myself. Yummy and healthy. Guess what I have been stocking up on the last 2 weeks?
Today I talked to one store worker at first place I was buying regularly and they were out and could get no more. But they had some at their other store. They had a lot still and I bought half of their supply. Not total. Tuesday next week I will go back and buy more if they have any left. Give sporting chance to others over the weekend.
This store owner said he had been ordering some every week but lately it has stopped coming. Hmm…..
I also said I was not buying any “wild caught” salmon or cod from China. Most of US wild caught salmon and cod comes from China. Popular “healthy” fish the masses love to eat and never examine where it comes from.
That “wild caught” fish from China?
Farm raised no doubt, under God knows what conditions.
I will not knowingly consume ANY food products that originate from China. Never, ever, to be trusted.
Prudent.
I’ve heard horror stories about some of those things.
Garlic comes to mind outside the previously mentioned Cod and Salmon.
Read where everything comes from!! Even peppermint tea comes from china! I grow our own.
I found some from Alaska and also Netherlands. Have to dig though.
The Enemedia say what the Democrats tell them to say, and the Democrats say what their CCP pays them to say…
The IQ is low in Philadelphia ,43%black , I used to live there when I was a fugitive, back in the day of the MOVE , when the row house neighbor hood in west Philadelphia was blowing sky high, no one was getting out alive , no one but me that is . Not much has changed, don’t go there, don’t go to New York either,
Eastern Washington blames the food shortage on the recent snowstorms:

““There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to get trucks in.”
He ain’t seen nothin’ yet…
Before the midterm elections there will be a round of stimulus payments. Things get expensive print some money, send out the checks. I know many have dismissed because the country hasn’t gone belly up yet but this time round I think they’re going to do it.
the commies first kill their own .
I encourage them in their efforts
Wow! The little liberal dummies heads are all popping up and down and repeat the mantra “yes master…”
Exactly how many consecutive meals are those at the greatest disadvantage going to miss when things are at their worse? How close to revolution in the streets can we expect to get before this is through?
Name change: Hole Foods.
Don’t the liberals adore Whole Foods? 😁
Yes, they do. I always remembered it to be quite pricy. Probably keeps out the peasants.
Whole Foods also known as whole paychecks.
Hah! Credit where credits due,…Babylon bee;
FBI promises to make its hoaxes less obvious from now on.
From around 2012 to 2017 I used to go to Chiswick UK (London Metro) 2 to 4 times a year. On the 6 block stretch of the main street in Chiswick, there were any where from 3 to 6 “farmers’ market booths.” The prices of the grapes, oranges, cherries, etc. etc. were HALF the prices in Florida Supermarkets. At the time, it was so unbelievable to me, that I took pictures showing the prices. It was obvious that foods were more or less coming directly from the farmers–Exactly what SD is expressing. Also, I visited Denmark more than 50 times, and there were farmers booths right on roads in front of many of the farms. I suspect we will see many similar opportunities “cropping up” here in the US very soon!
There are lots of farmers markets all over the US. Been the case for ages.

Even more conservative Newsmax this morning posted an article based on Reuters, saying in effect: The inflation crisis will peak at least by March and only increase slowly for the rest of the year. The Covid pandemic has snarled supply chains, but bottlenecks seem to be easing.
Still trying to spin what is going to happen or having no idea what is going to happen.
“The inflation crisis will peak at least by March and only increase slowly for the rest of the year.”
Peak, then increase, now that makes sense.
oh, I imagine they do know what’s in store and are willingly spinning it. If they truly have no idea what is going to happen, they are the Useful Idiots we aren’t looking for.
The local media IS a wing of the Dem propaganda machine, after all. Naturally the blame will be directed away from the actual culprits.
For many years we have shopped local markets, aka farmers markets and seafood. After super typhoon oddette, shelves were empty but the local market was still going. Find a farmer, fisherman and stop ever again shopping at the big stores. Convience is deadly. If necessary, co-op.
Decide what policy you want to implement, that you can’t get “public” to support.
THEN, Create a crises, so that the crises will create a demanf from the public, to “DO something!”
Then you can implement the policy you wanted all along, under the cover that you are “addressing the crises, in responce to the publics demand.
The Crises can be legitimately created “real” crises, OR be totally made up, doesn’t matter.
The “demand” from the public, as well CAN be a manipulated Public actually demanding action, OR it can be gaslighting, aided by a compliant media, doesn’t matter.
Adding laws, rules and regulations to the Federal register,…adding another layer to the Federal buerocracy, and further eroding the autonomy of the citisen, and increasing their dependance on the STATE, actually the FEDERAL Govt. is the goal.
Unless it’s illegal immigrants then it’s a ‘manufactured’ crisis.

My local Aldi’s has grass fed organic ground beef, organic chicken breasts and regular seasoned chicken breasts all at the same price, $4.99 per pound, this week. I believe it was Sundance who said this would happen because they have different processing.
What worries me most is the elderly who are already living on a shoestring and relying on meals on wheels and food stamps.
