I’m not sure why, but this is one of the best discussions/interviews with USTR Jamieson Greer ever.
Soup to nuts Greer explains the policy, issues, friction points and pragmatic approaches that apply to economic adversaries like China. Greer just cuts to the chase, you cannot truly negotiate with China because nothing about them is going to change, ever. So, you manage your relationship with them, limit your exposure and limit as much risk as possible. Greer is exactly correct and makes no excuses. Pure economic pragmatism.
The same outlook applies to Canada. Again, Greer isn’t playing the pretending game, and the panelist inquisitors are left jaw-agape while trying to frame a headline capture. Listen to the conflict issues as outlined by Greer. Canada is “doubling down on globalism”, the USA is not. That means we can never reach agreement, period – full stop, end of it!
Greer comes back to this point several times, including at the end when he outlines all the reasons why President Trump will terminate the USMCA trade pact. This is a must watch interview:

Yes, I agree. I have lived 5 years in Germany, visited France several times 60’s & 70’s, visited Mexico several times 2020’s, lived in Asia and visited Japan and others. My opinion is everybody always has been jealous or hated America. The world treats USA as a benefactor to provide resources, donate aid and protect their well being. The challenge is to find someone who is closest to Trump’s worldview in more than one field.
I’d like to see a Trumpian “Council of Foreign Relations” organization to teach and expand on the above mentioned Trump world view. An America First, MAGA, Council of American Relation kind of.
I fully believe that Trump’s “mind” needs to be preserved in such a Council. Perhaps Trump can be its first founder and organizer. It will be an incubator of future leaders. And these leaders are to take control of the agencies too, and the media.
Without such thing Trump’s economics will be subverted and removed within years or a decade the same as the Hamiltonians or the American System (as the Prometheans say) was.

The world is moving towards a Multipolar future and unfortunately for us, our politicians have destroyed what built this country to become the Financial Capital of the World and why our currency is still the World’s reserve currency but they destroyed it. They created policies that was beneficial to them not you or I.
I’m not defending China but the writing is on the wall. When China created CIPS back in 2015 it was nothing of importance until the Biden administration removed Russia from the Dollar system (SWIFT) by confiscating their reserves and Europe, their private assets, which they call reparation payments to Ukraine.
China along with many other countries took notice and the CIPS program took off and is now a way to circumvent the dollar altogether. Bessent making threats to countries who support Iran by removing them from the dollar system, only encourages an even quicker escape to the CIPS program.
Bessent just went to Japan to tell the Prime minister that Japan needs to get their fiscal house in order but cannot tell our politicians the same?
Now, look around the globe. Whose manufacturing base is rising? India, Mexico, Vietnam, Indonesia and others that are clamoring to do the same. So why is our country any different? China is the #1 Manufacturing country in the world and what other countries are striving for.
I believe we are going to see a basket of currencies in the near future take hold because these countries realized that the Dollar was a weapon, not a friend, and why the rush to CIPS.
All countries need to realize that David Ricardo’s Comparative advantage, is still as strong today as it was back then. But not one country own it all!
Unfortunately for us, we have the dumbest politicians who have ever existed. So, until we realize this but do nothing to change the political landscape, this will continue until our country becomes just another 3rd world country.
On days when I’m down I can watch an interview like this and feel completely refreshed. The level of intelligence contrasts so markedly with Canada, the EU, the rest of the globalists and especially the decidedly dumb Democrats that you hope more mid-term voters would vote with their brain not their emotions. I have confidence in this administration if only they were not continously fought against by all kinds id people not having the US best interest at heart.
