Earlier today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order creating the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, which will advise the President and coordinate government-wide efforts to combat widespread fraud, waste, and abuse in Federal benefit programs. [Executive Order Here]
According to the White House – The Vice President will serve as Chair of the Task Force, the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission will serve as Vice Chairman, the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security will serve as Senior Advisor, and an Executive Director will manage daily operations. Relevant cabinet secretaries and heads of government agencies will serve as Task Force members.
The Order directs the Task Force, on behalf of the President, to coordinate a comprehensive national strategy to stop fraud, waste, and abuse across Federal benefit programs, including housing, food, medical care, and cash assistance administered with State and local partners, in order to protect these benefits for eligible Americans.
The Task Force will coordinate measures to improve eligibility verification, implement pre-payment controls, detect high-risk fraud trends, and disrupt and dismantle fraud networks and the mechanisms through which fraud is committed.
The Task Force will also coordinate development of minimum anti-fraud requirements to prevent exploitation of taxpayer-funded benefits, including proof of identity and documentation requirements, risk controls, and audit and remedial actions, while each member agency’ works to develop a measurable implementation plan.
The Task Force will provide frequent updates to the President regarding its work. (read more)

Can it be done?
From my early morning perch and with a bird’s eye view, all I see is fraud. And not only that committed by who knows how many nameless, faceless people who should have never been admitted to this country, but also the fraud by elected men and women in every local, state, and federal nook and cranny.
Worst, however, may be the blood sucking NGOs which have been feeding voraciously to the tune of trillions of dollars year in year out for purposes which have nothing whatsoever to do with their publicly stated do gooder agendas.
Fraud is a huge trough, and everyone seems to be feeding at it in one way or another. Especially, I’m guessing, most in Congress one way or another. If this were not so, we most likely wouldn’t be trillions in debt, increasinging exponentially every month. How much longer before we reach quadrillions? Kafkaesque congressional “Oversight” committees are real life pantomime, or we wouldn’t be in this sickening mess.
Admirable as this announcement is, the thievery on every level is so deep and “profitable” for so many that a million Hercules could dig through the rotting, putrid midden for decades and never clean out this particular stable.
Somewhere at the bottom, I suspect we would find honesty, fiscal rectitude, moral rectitude, honour, and all the other virtues this nation stood for…now cast off and buried underneath. How far we’ve fallen from where we started 250 years ago. And I believe no matter how well intentioned this Vance led committtee may be, until somehow we dig those out and instill them once more, we won’t be able to get up.
No “Task Force” can fix that.
That’s our tragedy.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) had a fraud task force back in 1979; it was operational until around 1985. I worked on it. Lots of fraud was discovered/revealed. The tools we had to identify fraud were rudimentary by today’s standards.
Musk and his crew have the tools to identify fraud/questionable practices that we could not even dream of back in the early 80s.
Fraud was rampant back in the early 80s at all levels of government and anywhere government money flowed. That is just as true today as it was over 40 years ago.
It starts at the top with Congress via campaign contributions, which elicit “favors” from donors. Unfortunately, this goes on at all levels of government.
One way to throw a money wrench into the elected official/donor fraud angle would be to fund campaigns from the various units of government with a set amount of money. NO DONATIONS in any form from any other organization and no money from the candidate’s personal bank accounts.
That right there would throw a huge monkey wrench into the election donations process. (THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN).
I rest my case.

They need to codify being able to investigate where funds go, be able to claw back improperly spent funds, cut payments to known fraudsters, and imprison people.

Betsy, several years back I started noticing the explosion of NGO’s and knew instinctively what was going on. Local news often highlighted select groups who were doing “community outreach”. It is still ongoing titled Spotlight on the Community. It was always a liberal black or white female sitting in a storefront office expounding on the good they were doing. This agency must start at the grassroots level to be able to do any good. Every nook and cranny in this country is infected with NGO grift.

Congress voted these funds to be distributed. They got distributed to all the wrong people. They did nothing wrong in the eyes of the current judges in this country. There will be no effective prosecutions and if the government tries to claw these funds back – some judge will order all these funds returned – because it is “racist and the Supreme Court will agree.
In other news, senior citizens on a fixed income will get another 2% raise on their social security check next year and have their medical costs raised 3%.

IMO this is the #2 issue behind the SAVE act. It deals with eliminating the magnet for these foreign invaders leading to some going home and others revealing themselves in pursuit of money and ICE can grab them. And saves the taxpayer bigly. After Obama created the 4th branch, the swamp was giddy looking forward to the endless possibilities ahead for robbing this country blind. It appears that many CTH commenters are putting the burden of doing something about fraud on VP Vance.
With the current crop of congress members plus the embedded lifelong bureaucrats, with all supported by a corrupted judicial system, I have almost no confidence that any inroads or solutions, even if presented to congress and the public, will have any chance of changing the current trajectory.
Most of the mechanisms to address fraud meaningfully lies with the same lawmakers who have turned a blind eye on or are too scared of correcting or reversing the failures that have and continue to so blatantly enable that fraud….and I include in the term “lawmakes” those at both state and local levels as well as the federal level.
IMHO, the entire system is running like a perpetual motion apparatus.
It looks to me like The President put the burden on VP Vance to uncover fraud.
Sadly, the onus to prosecute the fraud is in bondi’s hands. So we can rest assured no one will go to jail.
There is a possibility that some small part of the fraud will be stopped.
Seems simple pro-active accounting oversight BEFORE the release of funds wouldn’t be so difficult.
Unless the countless billions of stolen tax dollars are recovered and the criminals are arrested and get lengthy jail terms breaking rocks in the hot sun, nothing will change except the fraudsters will adjust their game and continue stealing.

No mention of civil forfeiture of all assets acquired using stolen money. Taxpayers, the captive farm animals in this game need to see justice, which means we need to see consequences. No mention of consequences for the army of ”civil servants ” either that were partners in stealing. They are like the ”civil servants ” who committed voter fraud in 2020. Stealing elections, stealing tax dollars, it’s all the same mindset.
Taxpayers are treated like fools.

Why doesn’t he stay focused 100% on calling out the REAL culprits in Congress (looking right at you, Lindsey Graham, et al) instead of demonizing Rand Paul and Thomas Massie who are the most principled liberty minded people in Congress???
