Republicans hate their base voters. If the broader Republican electorate knew the internecine nature of how the Republican politicians in DC operate, they would never vote for another Republican ever.
It’s all a system of conniving and positioning for a cushy committee assignment, indulgences from the lobbyist control apparatus, office locations and Machiavellian influence for the best junkets and largest leadership PAC deposits. That’s the truth, the non-pretending truth about the system at work behind the GOPe blind vote. It has nothing to do with principle centered leadership, and everything to do with self-indulgences and person affluence.
Steve Scalise is worse than Kevin McCarthy when it comes to supporting Democrats, way worse. Representative Steve Scalise (U-DC) will use sell your house via civil forfeiture and send that money to Zelenskyy [while deducting his indulgence fees of course].
WASHINGTON – No. 2 House Republican Steve Scalise won the GOP nomination for speaker, paving the way for a floor vote to make the election official.
Republicans held a secret closed-door ballot Wednesday morning after days of drama and infighting. Scalise, who is battling blood cancer, beat out House Judiciary Chairman and Trump ally Jim Jordan in a 113-99 vote.
But it is still a steep path ahead for Scalise to make the promotion official – he must get at least 217 votes on the House floor. It is not clear when a vote will be scheduled, but it could occur as soon as this afternoon. (read more)
Via Politico – […] Some Scalise allies are encouraging the Louisiana Republican to move to a floor vote quickly anyway, hoping to establish momentum after Wednesday’s internal vote. The rising national focus on national security matters such as the Israeli terrorist attack, these allies argue, will help convince GOP lawmakers to coalesce behind Scalise as the winner.
“I believe we’ll have a Speaker Scalise in office by dinnertime tonight,” said Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas), an early Scalise backer. “I’m confident we’ll all be on the same page when we get to the floor.” (source)
A pox on all their Houses.
Note: it was interesting that “somebody” proposed the House Rule Change and IT PASSED that deposed MacCarthy … from a CLOSED Majority (Republican) Caucus Vote to “an up or down vote” on the floor. Now who controls the rules committee???
Still have not heard the fate of the effort by Chip Roy (GOPe Uni-Party, TX) to change the rules for electing the Speaker to Majority vote.
With a rules change to majority vote …. It only takes 10 Republicans of the 99 voting against Scalise to abstain or vote for somebody else, to give Jefferies the House Speaker Gavel … or 6 of 99 to cross over for the sake of “unity”.
Jefferies may actually be able (allowed) to hold onto the job if he wins.
How do these backstabbing RINOs stay in office? Oh yeah, rigged voting machines. It’s all clear now.
Matt Gaetz is supporting McCarthy 2.0?
What is going on here?
Scalise = McCarthy
All this fighting for nothing. The GOP Establishment stays in control.
We need to get rid of all of those Rhinos
How? I’m all ears,,,,, or eyes in this case.
Perseverance, diligence and, above all, patience
I believe a “Convention of States” could ratify TERM LIMITS to the Constitution and it would be a great start, last I checked we were very close to having enough state legislatures pass it for one to be called. I will look further to see the status.
Do you actually trust any of these scumbags to change our constitution for the better? I just want the one we have followed to the letter.
You never will unless/until the current, corruptive systemic problems which perpetually creates them like weeds are addressed, e.g., 17th Amendment, lack of Term Limits, lack of Campaign Finance Reform (politics and policy being money, Donor class driven), Money Laundering schemes, Insider Trading, etc.
We will never get rid of all these Rinos, we must win w/a few good men
i already won’t vote for another ‘republican’ ever, save one. the only true Republican who is willing to sacrifice everything to stand up for America First. the rest can go find a day job at CNN for all i care
Yup, they put in Scalise then I’m done with being republican and all voting. Never missed voting since Reagan and never voted anything but republicans. Trump is the only vote I will ever cast again.
The Feral DC Coup Gov is Dead to me.
No, they are not. “They” control your life. Only you can voice your opinion and vote to change the way they do things.
There are two hit pieces on the msm tonight against Scalise. One ties him to David Duke.
Yep. He attended a Klan rally back in 09 or around there. Never kicked him out of conference. Deserved to have his seat given to someone else. Now unlimited ammo for Demonrats.
One thing that I haven’t heard in all of this is whether the rules have been changed. Can anyone still propose a move to vacate?
But it is still a steep path ahead for Scalise to make the promotion official – he must get at least 217 votes on the House floor. It is not clear when a vote will be scheduled, but it could occur as soon as this afternoon.
Never mind.
Looking like we will not yet see who the real Jim Jordan is…
Jordan and Scalise are bad candidates. Can’t believe we couldn’t find someone else.
If you want someone else, you have to look outside congress.
Back when it happened, you could not possibly have convinced me that someday I’d feel ambivalent about Scalise having survived being shot up by that fat little Marxist orc.
If elected Speaker, we’ll soon see his demeanor, performance and what he’s truly made of.
But unlike the other Members, since his attempted murder and long painful recovery, his Public Service has been far above the Call of Duty to serve.
Most would have thrown in the towel and gone back home.
Not if they were on the take to get their fair share of all the money that’s being passed around.
We have people in their 90’s in office.
Who do you know that would throw in the towel?
Seriously.
Serve? That is what they sell you. They get paid well and don’t forget the other money.
Frankly that ‘fat little Marxist orc’ could have shot them all for all I care, so long as he got nowhere near President Trump
The man is not well, 3rd in line for the presidency. DC loves their sick and dementia ridden to be in power.
Louisiana is sadly a RINO. haven – Cassidy, Kennedy, Scalise – and other lightweights.
Remember:
New Orleans was the “3rd Nursing Home Hot Spot” for the planned SCAMdemic.
Our RAT Guv refused to cancel MardiGras (he desperately needed the tax revenues) … but … as soon as the traveling revealers returned home – coast to coast – the Guv declared MardiGras to be a “super-spreader” !!!
fauciSTEIN declared an emergency … and shut down America … our “pro-life” Guv shut down our Churches – but left his abortion clinics wide open.
Guv John Bel Edwards traveled Europe extensively during his 8 years – for Louisiana business of course … was a RAT player in the COVID scam to take out President Trump … and … so are our Louisiana RINO Traitors in Congress.
To me, Louisana Attorney General Jeff Landry is a great constitutionalist.
Yes, he is. And so is Liz Murrill who will, hopefully, succeed him as Atty. General after Saturday’s election.
Amen 💕
He’s wonderful!!
Oh good.
Not really.
When our newly elected congressional member went to D.C. fresh off the turnup cart he roomed with Steve Scalise and someone else — can’t remember who it was right now. All I thought at the time — while he was bragging about his room mates — was we’ve already lost this supposed “fighter” to the swamp.
First time I heard Pete Stauber speak he sounded more like Joe Puddin’ head than any type of fighter.
Steve Scalise must have trained him well.
Patience..

I always figured the congressmen got saline instead of the real thing. But now that Scalise has blood cancer I am thinking he got the real deal. These cancers are exploding everywhere in jabbed people.
I hasten to state that the following is hearsay, but it comes from a source in D.C. who is a patriot with usually accurate information.
This election is far from over, given the contentious tenor of the caucus proceeding and what is being discussed among House members’ staffs.
The vote totals were no surprise because Scalise is the GOPe favorite and the GOPe has a majority in the caucus.
What is highly significant is the number of serious opponents to Scalise is between 8-10. To my surprise, some of the Gaetz group that ousted McCarthy capitulated and voted for Scalise. (I have no names.) The sticking points regarding Scalise appear to be at least four:
His rebuttal to those members concerned by the above points is that the Senate leadership, both R and D, will not approve withholding additional funding from Ukraine or strong border control measures. Moreover, there is insufficient time to produce separate, effective bills for the remaining appropriations not yet completed. He also claims to be healthy enough to do the job.
In brief, the majority of the caucus is opting for “more of the same,” and 8-10 members will not accept continuing to follow a failed operating strategy. Notably, those in opposition have been threatened by the leadership to be outed as rogue dissenters via a floor vote early tomorrow. However, the threat does not intimidate the persons to whom it is directed.
No doubt, negotiations and concessions by all will be necessary to avoid the GOPe from being greatly embarrassed. It will likely be an “all nighter” with no surety of reaching 218 votes tomorrow for Scalise or Jordan.
We’ll see what happens.
Amazing news. I hope they hold up this terrible candidate for Speaker.
Thank you for your informative post.
Scalise supports giving Ukraine funding.
That says it all. 👎👎
Even if Trump were to win in a landslide these bastards will resist his policies just like Ryan and McConnell did last time.
Get your crap together Republicans! I say Matt Gates for Speaker, if not him Elise Stephanic.
I say Rick Grenell. We need to go outside of sitting CONgress members.
While out and about yesterday (Wed) I was casually listening to The Dana Show on the radio
She was all in for Scalise…her reasoning?
I kid you not…he’s a good fund raiser, he knows how to schmooze and rub elbows
Whomever is elected Speaker, I hope one of their first actions will be to expel Omar, Talib, and the rest of “The Squad” from the U.S. House of Representatives. They are a complete disgrace to this country and do not belong in Congress.
Hate to throw a spanner in the gears but nobody has been elected speaker.

I have to say this, the republicans are nothing more than a bunch of corrupt, feckless clowns.
I’m done with the Republicans
And I may not vote Trump either unless:
A He starts telling the truth about the War in Ukraine
B Comes up with a serious, detailed plan to cut Trillions from the budget to avoid the looming financial collapse
C Comes out decisively against the VAX and Big Pharma and demands long prison terms for all those in government health care agencies who pushed the fraudulent Vax that killed thousands of Americans
D Promise to write Executive Orders to completely end the practice that have allowed Government agencies of the Administrative State including the FBI, CIA and NSA to write their own rules that they enforce themselves
E Prosecute any government official that deprived any Americans of their Constitutional rights including Free Speech under the statute which allows such prosecutions under the color of law.
F. Fully “take care” to fully enforce the Constitution as demanded by the Constitution.
G. Prosecute any government official including teachers, school administrators that doesn’t fully protect and represent alternative views to the government narrative as demanded by the equal protection clause.
“If the broader Republican electorate knew the internecine nature of how the Republican politicians in DC operate, they would never vote for another Republican ever.”
Sundance, I love the way you write and the way you think, BUT please define your terms. The “Republican Party” has several factions, including dims, RINOs, GOPers, Never-Trumpers, Deep State, and MAGA. IMO, MAGA is the largest component of the party and my choice.
Please rephrase your statement accordingly, and disclose your preference for Speaker from the possible candidates.
Thank you.
Just in … Scalise has bowed out!
Personally, I like Ivan Raitlin’s plan for the next Speaker of the House and how to clean DC out!
