The number of republican senators not running for reelection just gained another name today. Senators Richard Burr (NC), Ron Johnson (WI), Pat Toomey (PA), and Rob Portman (OH) previously stated they were not going to seek reelection; now Senator Richard Shelby (AL) makes the same announcement.
They know the American electorate can see both wings of the UniParty vulture now.
WASHINGTON DC – Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said on Monday that he would not run for reelection in 2022.
“Today I announce that I will not seek a seventh term in the United State Senate in 2022. For everything, there is a season,” Shelby said in a statement.
“Although I plan to retire, I am not leaving today. I have two good years remaining to continue my work in Washington. I have the vision and the energy to give it my all,” the 86-year-old senator added. (read more)
In the 2022 Senate races there are 34 seats up for grabs. 14 are held by Democrats and 20 are held by tenuous Republicans. [Breakdown Here] Due to vulnerability, their lack of support amid the republican base, and their insufferable 2020 behavior outing them as DeceptiCons it is almost guaranteed the GOP will lose seats in the 2022 mid-term election.
Things amid the DeceptiCon caucus are getting interesting. With five GOP senators having announced they’re not running (Burr, Johnson, Toomey, Portman, Shelby) there’s essentially zero chance of the GOP retaking control of the Senate in 2022. [20 R seats up & only 14 D seats that are in solid D strongholds] it is far more likely the Democrats will gain seats, so keep this in mind….
…When we think about forming a third party, the “you will split the vote” crew always peddles their vote split narrative. However, the GOP doesn’t have a chance in hell to win 2022 given what the base of the Republicans think about these senate DeceptiCons now.
There has never been a better time for a New Party to launch and capture three or four seats from the retiring GOPe crew. It would be great to see true MAGA representatives that can caucus with Republicans but hold ground on America First principles.
Oh, and someone needs to primary Lisa Murkowski again.
[2022 Seats Available Here]
Traitor and anti-white bigot Tim Scott won’t get my vote.Called President Trump a racist after Charlottesville and voted to certify the stolen election.
If Tim votes to continue the shampeachment; he will not get my vote in the next election!
Since he certified the fraudulent electors; it might be hard to support him anyway?
Before all that he was at Sea Island Resort. He is a rat bastid.
But we just HAD to have a man like him to prove how far we South Carolinians have come from the 1700s.
I get a two-fer. Tim Scott AND my congressman is Tom Rice…. Geezzzz….
I’ve got Mace. -_- I remember her from when the Charleston GOPe ran her as a splitter so we couldn’t replace Clyburn. She turned out exactly how I expected.
When I look at the list of Senators up for reelection I see about three Repub seats in play, and two Dem seats in play. I don’t see a big wave either way.
You never know. It depends upon whether states get vote fraud under control….and, it depends on how angry voters are in 2022 over Biden’s policies.
Glad to see some of the older Repubs retiring….to allow younger Repubs to take their place.
Republican or Democrat political designations mean absolutely nothing anymore as far as I am concerned.
Uni-Party (Upper and Lower half) as in Democrats and Republicans. They claim they are different tribes but the evidence simply does not support the claim in my opinion.
So unless said younger Republicans are patriots and Constitutionalists and fiscally and socially conservative (in that order) then to me they are just another member of the Uni-Party.
Guaranteed: dhims will have supermajority in both houses. 60 senate seats & 275+ house seats. Thank you dominion. PS: 3rd party?…. roflmao…..how ya gon’na get past dominion? Huuuuh????
Yep. That’s why the only answer is MAGA voters moving to a few RED States, dominating the electoral process and vote to SUCCEED.
That’s easy. Under the Executive order in 2018 we Expropriate their equipment and software forever. They no longer own it, and we make damn sure it can’t be connected to the internet. WE have a private company certify the software before EVERY election, and put the machines under seal. If ANY seals are broken the people in charge get life terms automatically, with NO appeal. Make cheating a thing of the past, and make election law uniform across the country. NO absentee voting without a Doctors note, NO ballots get counted after midnight local time. If the opposition parties reps aren’t allowed to witness and certify the vote, the whole precinct gets thrown out, immediately.
OV-10 brings back good memories…Semper Fi, DD
Didn’t we have the exact same situation in 2018 when several R’s retired? Guess what happened……the democrats took full advantage of the situation by cheating, this is when they introduced the country to “ballot harvesting”.
Further, couple that with the fact that Mitt’s niece, Ronna Romney- McDaniel didn’t even bother to recruit many R’s to run against the D’s in 2018. There were entire races in Virginia where democrats ran completely unopposed. All of these Republicon retirements only point to bigger wins for democrats.
IMO, Younger Republicans are more duplicitous (example being Sasse)……. and Tom Cotton.
I will not be voting for ANY GOP candidate at the federal level. Not unless they have P Trump’s endorsement. If P Trump doesn’t give the thumbs up, then I won’t vote GOP.
PERIOD. THAT SIMPLE.
“It depends upon whether states get vote fraud under control….”
Don’t worry. The RNC and the NRCC have it all figured out. They will be more than ready for the 2020 election.
Paper Ballot Party, single issue like Brexit, is Mark Steyn’s suggestion.
That’s not a very solid base on which to put in a lot of effort to create the third party.
I think the effort will be more robust and enjoy a longer period of greater success if the proposed platform continues to be based upon the MAGA principles and policies that attracted 70+ million voters to support President Trump. Add election system cleanup, REAL security, and REAL reform to the platform.
Paper ballots is far stronger tent pole than MAGA; that means something to you, but not to most people.
Let the Democrats argue that Sleepy Joe or Kamala will get 81 millions votes again with paper ballots and voter ID. Ha!
So you obviously have not read my proposal for election reform that includes no electronic tabulation equipment anywhere in any state other than voice & video teleconference communication and starts with using only paper ballots.
But the third party has to initially stand for something in addition to election reform because once that’s successful, the people within the party may become bogged down bickering over what should be the next issue to resolve.
Election reform must be at or near the very top of platform priorities but it leaves the party vulnerable to all sorts of devious internal schemes to destroy it if the platform is not agreed upon to begin.
I suspect President Trump will be in Alaska campaigning against Murkowski, he said he would.
Time for Sarah Palin to throw her hat back into the ring.
First, if I didn’t live in a closed primary state I would have left the gop a long time ago. I don’t like either party. I vote repub because I am opposed to socialism/marxism.
However, I am pragmatic also. I understand the emotional draw to wanting a third party now. I don’t see it working though.
Both the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus and Maga/America First movements made progress in positive changes for the beginning of gop transformation.
The problem is that they are not strong enough to control over 50% of elected Repubs yet. That is the key goal. Once they tip over 50% they gain leadership positions and the control of the agenda and messaging of the party on The Hill (Congress).
We gained some great new representatives in the House in the last couple election cycles.
The Senate will take longer and be a harder battle.
As much as I hate the current GOP…..I still think we can come closer to our goal by running and bringing to victory “America First/maga Republican” candidates dates and have them Caucus with the Tea Party/Freedom Caucus Republicans to change the party from within.
Also,
I can’t say how strong a maga/America First third party would be.
At worst, it stays a minority party, splitting the gop, and leaves the Dems a majority party for decades to come.
At best, it gains crossover popularity and becomes a majority party sooner than we hoped for.
However, even if the best comes to fruition…..
Eventually it would become mucked up with power hungry rino/dino globalists anyway. Those who would run on maga ticket/platform, but aren’t maga at heart (simply power hungry). You can’t stop that muck as a third party any more than you can as a second party.
And, we would be in the same position we are in now….dissatisfied with a uni-party that doesn’t work for we the people.
We need to change the elected representatives…not the name of the party.
We need to change the elected representatives…not the name of the party.
Impossible. This has been proposed for decades and it simply cannot happen.
The best of candidates, if elected, are coerced into the fold.
So elect representatives that can not not be coerced…but can stand against current gop establishment leaders by their numbers.
Based on past experience and many, many elections…..most of them, even some who clammer the most about being fiscally and socially conservative…seem to fall in line very nicely.
Why? because they want to get elected again. That takes money. Where does the money come from? Answer people and companies that want to suck on the public tit. If you aren’t taking their money….you probably aren’t going to continue being elected for another term.
I think the stronger play is a MAGA movement not party. Become bigger than party.
If the uniparty is the enemy then strike at both parties. Target RINOs or retiring RINOs in the primary. Target Democrats in blue states and pull off an AOC-style stealth win in the primary with a conservative candidate. The goal is getting representatives who honor God, love their country, and have servant’s heart for the people. It doesn’t matter what label (Republican or Democrat) they run under, they vote the MAGA movement’s agenda. We just have to gum up the works for the next 4 years so Biden doesn’t completely destroy the country. Yeah, they’ll be pressure to comply with the party line–but the true representative supports his/her voters not the party–God first, family/country second, the best the political party can place is third. Make that a mantra. Of course if we don’t get election reform, then none of this matters.
Amen, that is just what happened in Canada, the only hope is the majority and term limits, after our split here in Canada, there was a merger and power, but the mini-swamp that is Ottawa, more of a bog, really sucked in lifers and main chancers. Term limits is the only remedy two for Senators, and say maybe 4-5 for congress critters? Get it back to a semblance of Citizen legislatures, coupled of course with a a carpet bombing of K Street, no prisoners.
And how has that been working out?
I disagree. A MAGA party would vote conservative with the GOP should it actually act like a constitutional conservative party. Otherwise a MAGA vote would vote against the Swampers regardless of the D or R after their grubby name.
I reject the premise that splitting the GOP is a bad thing. They split from us a long time ago.
Unless we put forth a wave of MAGA candidates, the GOPe/UniParty knows it’s safe. A few MAGAs sprinkled around is analogous to a few independents or socialists; they’ll caucus with the Rs and never have the numbers to light a fire under their butts or pull them rightward.
We need term limits. The longer they stay in DC, the more corrupt they become.
I don’t see it working though.
What we have now is not working, and hasn’t been for at least 30 years.
Not working…but at least some progress.
We elected Trump and grew the non-uni-party membership caucus within the GOP over past several election cycles to a point where they have some influence (although not control yet).
A third party could actually take us backwards. How does that “work better”?
You can always switch back. Back when I was a dim, I switched to Republican to vote against gofer for governor, Fred Grandy, in Iowa.
I walked away in 2006 after hearing a conservative on talk radio telling us that we paid more in taxes when Clinton was president than we were during Bush iI. He said go check your payroll account if you don’t believe it. I arrived at work and logged in to ADP, He was correct. My first statement “Bill wouldn’t do that to us.” What a maroon i was. I had even canvased for Kerry in 2004.
My mother was a burn your bra, far left democrat for most of my life. She switched to Republican in 2010 or so. Not before ridiculing me for switching though. Democrats are something else.
I thought democrats want higher taxes… It always cracked me up that my father in law, lifelong teachers union democrat, complained about the (insert racial slur here) receiving his hard-earned money while cheating profusely on his taxes every April.
I will tell everyone not to vote for the RINOs. They are racists.
Rinos are Racists. Specially Rubio. Racist racist racist.
What did I miss?
The last three paragraphs are exactly what I’ve been thinking since this topic arose more frequently over the past month than anytime previous that I can recall.
Thank you Sundance for articulating these facts concisely and prominently.
What would happen to McConnell’s power base if the Senate ends up with 61 Democrats?
What would happen if 6-10 third party senators kept either party from having a majority?
Do you really think what the evil demonrats are doing to the country is going to increase their vote count. Without all the stealing they would not hold the house or the senate or the presidency. They are destroying this country by immigration by their money policies by destroying the military etc. Do you think people are going to reward them I think not.
This reminds me of the mass exodus in the House after President Trump won….
All those “deals” with their fellow Uniparty members are being paid off.
Exactly
We have been waiting for the Republican Party to do the “right thing” since the Contract with America. The dis-satisfaction of the Democrat voters with their own party would be a prime opportunity to gain seats; especially with the historic mid-term incumbent disadvantage? Joebama’s miserable three-week administration will only get worse. Congress is already off the tracks with the 2nd shampeachment.
The Republicans have already split and there are too many irreconcilable differences.
Now is the time to seize-the-moment! .
Exactly, the Republicon party is dead. Agree with Sundance that it’s the perfect time to move on and take our millions in donations with us. I believe they are already getting worried about that fact; coffers will dry up quickly without President Trump as their leader.
Richard Shelby, Democrat turned Republican to win a seat!! Can you say career politician? Shelby & McConnell played the smear Roy Moore to put a Democrat in Senate! Finally Alabama woke up. Communist trying hard to infiltrate Bama. 1st & 2nd Amendment strong so if will take cheating especially after the voter fraud and military installed illegitimate China Biden. Trump flags and banners everywhere from here to Florida! Starting to solicit support for paper in person vote on paper ballots hand count! DC will never give up their power now. They are completely drunk on their lust for control! Traitors USA! What “We” could be if only…..Sin destroys the body & soul.
I am not so sure Ron Johnson is retiring. He said he would only serve 2 terms when he entered the Senate, but I think he is waffling now that the time has come
Hope so!
From my Wisconsin point of view, Sundance is a little harsh on RJ. I think he is just as sick of DC as we are. He encountered many of the Deep State road blocks that POTUS did from listening to him on local talk and at an event that he and Grenell did, also locally.
If RJ doesn’t run again his seat will probably be bought by the billionaire owners of the Milwaukee Bucks. Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry has a young son, Alex, that wants to be a Senator. Isn’t that special ? Lasry, and co-owners Wes Edens and Jamie Dinan are huge Dparty donors.
It’s sort of ironic that long time Dem Senator from Wisconsin, Herb Kohl, was the prior owner of the Bucks. Another filthy rich guy, elected for term after term, basically for the good will he built up from being he Buck’s owner, keeping them in Milwaukee, and dishing out glasses of free milk at the Wisconsin State Fair. Young Lasry fits the same mold.
I’m hoping he will run for governor and clean up the election mess like Ron Desantis did in Florida. Ron is a business man first, and a politician of necessity. I think he sees battling in Washington is hopeless unless the swing states are cloned up.
Yes! Time For a NEW PARTY is NOW! I am thinking Trump will see the light after the Uni- party shenanigans rear up in ugly fashion this week during the ‘faux Inpeachment‘.. Sundance, will all these ‘retiring’ Repubican senators Now chose to vote to Impeach??
Cue Jeff Sessions. 🙂
GOP clearly wants to lose Senate seats in 2022 thereby solidifying the Democrat globalist majority. They hate their own base and want to make sure the interests of that base are not represented. McConnell and Schumer are comrades in the Uni-Party.
Correct….they will use the losses to blame Trump so that we all get scared and fall in line.
Primary…Primary…Primary.
You are completely wrong if you think all politics resides in the Imperial City and measure everything in terms of the Senate. If you blow up the Republican Party you lose the Red States. That’s the road to Sarajevo ’96. Giving the Democrats every lever of government at every level is suicidal.
It’s one thing to say the Republicans in the Senate suck. It’s quite another to tell your opponents to hold the end of a rope while you put the other around your neck and jump off a cliff.
Do you have a way of creating a new party without turning 50 states blue? Or is this just a vanity project to spite the GOPe at the expense of any chance to actually accomplish anything?
Because we have accomplished so much over the last several decades? People are awake now, and I guarantee that 75 million+ patriots that voted for President Trump are primed and ready. After the Beijing Biden fiasco many more will join us. I would bet President Trump is preparing to put the wheels in motion; just wait and see.
I disagree.
Big Whoop! 3-4 America First to caucus with the loser R team and the Communists continue to make us into Venezuela with no fight whatsoever.
I’m NOT seeing PDJT go along that path at all.
One other small point; it’s looking like NY and Cal. will be losing about 2 house seats each and those 4 seats are destined to go to Red States.
Not so sure I’m in favor of taking a dive at this very early juncture and strike up the band for a 3rd party at this point.
Think this through, remembering that PDJT does not want a 3rd party.
JMHO.
Hardly a ‘third’ party when 80+ million voters leave the Republicon party in shambles. It’s time…
Mo Brooks eyeing this seat. Now that would be an upgrade!
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/02/08/mo-brooks-hints-at-u-s-senate-run-to-fill-vacancy-left-behind-by-shelby/
Don’t forget the Democrats have already perpetrated Massive voter Fraud and got away with it so they are not going to stop now.
Agree we need a 3rd party. can easily win at the local level in deep red areas. Then we have a long March of our own taking over prescient by prescient then win a majority of the house in 2022 w/ GOPe. Make Trump or Don Jr. Speaker of the House.
PA, WI, and NC are highly susceptible to vote fraud as well as base disgust with RINOs. All of those places have corrupt big cities and Democrats with a stranglehold on voting rules. I wouldn’t rule out OH and FL either. Republican control but weak in OH. Better in FL but the cities there are deeply corrupt. Biggest thing DeSantis did was removing the elections director in Palm Beach. It’s people, not procedures, that commit vote fraud. So 3-5 seats lost. I theory this could be counter balanced by AZ and GA but the Republican administrations are weak and the cities range from corrupt to 3rd World corrupt.
Democrat vote fraud machine won’t work as well for the House since all of the corrupt cities are already Democrat territory. Big problem there is turnout fallout by the base. Cheney is really going to hurt.
As for a new party, you have to start somewhere. It took only 6 years for the Republicans to come from nowhere to dominating the government for the next 50 years. Those six years will really suck but they are going to anyway.
Does the Left start new organizations or do they take over existing ones, including their finances, and donors, such as Universities, the Democrat Party, Churches, Professional organizations, Societies, and so on. I think Trump has the right idea, stay with the Republicans, and kick out the Uni party lot there now.
There are a lot of people who vote Republican but don’t know a lot about politics. Their votes count and many would not vote for a new party.
There are also donors who may not jump to a new party, particularly if it is demonized by the Left.
We need to change our thinking. Much has been learned over the past few years and times have truly changed. The MAGA movement woke up many and they are engaged. It’s time to stop letting the ‘machine’ dictate how things are done. We have experienced the control they have within their power structure; take it away by building our own. Don’t let them hold power over us any longer. This would be their biggest fear and we can do it…courage.
I assume any monies to be paid by the CoC and China, pursuant to and conditional on Trump’s removal, must be showing up in politicians’ bank accounts, right about now. Mission accomplished.
These guys could also be Captain Ahab; they’ve killed their great white whale at any cost. Now, they’re drowning at sea.
And imagine the letters and emails Shelby is getting from Alabama. Better forget all those Shelby Memorial bridges and highways he had dreamed of. Robert C. Byrd, The Grand High Lyncher, did better in the eponym sweepstates than this iteration of Tricky Dicky will do.
It’s about time, Senator Shelby! The only time we ever heard anything from him was when he was running for re-election. The rest of the time he’s a total stranger to us.
It’s a shame the Constitution mentions only a minimum age for office and not a maximum age. Shelby should have retired at least 20 years ago, but he’s so full of his self-importance he just had to stay in office.
Shelby is 86 years old. Why is it shocking that he wants to retire while he’s still able to walk?
Mo Brooks is a natural win for that seat
Brooks would have won after Sessions resigned but McConnell effed everything up and elected the Dem
no 3rd party – Dems want that – the GOP “wets” are falling away, so way give it up when you are winning control? Dems will rule for generations if the GOP splits
Last Saturday, Feb 06, on Bannon’s war room about a half hour into the show, a gut spent a long time explaining that the one way to take over the republican party is to become a precinct captain. There are over 4K slots and only half are filled. These captains vote for the committee chairs all the way up to the national delegates. TheRepublican Party is a private instiution and CANbe taken over from the inside. I strongly urge anyone who wants to make a change listen to that broadcast.
Haven’t you heard? The Republicans are changing their mascot from an elephant to a cow. The bovine is more appropriate as most Republicans representatives are good at chewing their cud, are easily lead by DemoNazis, and excel at emitting methane gas. They are happy to be lead to the abattoir as they see their main role in life is to feed the DemoNazis and keep them strong,
Sundance, I’m more optimistic of R gains in 2022. Portman (OH) & now Shelby (AL) should be readily replaced by younger Republican politicians, maybe even Trumpists. Toomey (PA) barely won last time (+1.5%) but two years of anti-fracking policies from DC may keep PA red…though you could make a case that PA’s private property frackers will be even busier if the anti-fracking efforts stay concentrated on Federal land.
Burr (NC) last election won by 5.7%, but Trump carried NC by barely 70k votes last year, so it’s tight but winnable with a good candidate, especially in a lower turnout election.
Similar for Johnson (WI), last re-elect +3.4, Trump narrowly “lost” in 2020. Winnable with a good candidate.
On the Dem side, new Senators Kelly (AZ) & Warnock (GA) may face more voter scrutiny, again assuming good Republican candidates. Maggie Hassan (NH) won her first, current term by 0.1%, so may be vulnerable. Masto (NV), also in her first term, won by only 2.4%.
Not sanguine, but not despairing.
Ron Johnson has NOT said he will not run for re-election, heard him today Feb 16 ,saying he hasn’t decided and he’s not like the others either so don’t lump in him the group with Romney and gang….
