suggestion: Since my suggestion is not related to this thread, I have nowhere else appropriate to post it; therefore, here it is. My suggestion is to have another thread titled “Miscellaneous” where comments like this one and others related to topics such as today’s weather, personal medical issues, etc. can be posted. If someone has a comment unrelated to the Donald Trump administration and the presidency, the comment can then go on the new thread and this current thread would be limited to comments that stick to the topic .
The open thread just below this thread is for that purpose.

A well meant note for anyone who voted “R”… and for President Trump….who has become impatient and who is justifiably hurting from crippling gas and food prices (as all of us are)…

Looking beyond the headline numbers for example, we find the following truths in the areas that matter to most people – food, shelter, utilities, clothes – plus some occasional expense categories:
Food at home costs – DECREASING.
Natural gas for heating and cooking – DECREASING
Medical care commodities – DECREASING
Electricity and New Vehicles – 2.4%, almost at the numbers the Fed loves.
You can see the others. None of it shows “numbers SOARING” as said earlier in this thread.

My 94 y/o mother was bragging the other day about getting her flu shot at the assisted living facility where she resides. She was wondering if they were going to be offering the Covid vaccine and I told her in no uncertain terms that I hope the hell not. She and I and my brother have had this conversation many times. She’s had every booster that came along and can’t wait to get the next one. It’s a miracle that she’s still alive. She did have some serious health issues last year which almost killed her and is why she is in assisted living today. She’s a tough, stubborn old bird.
My dad didn’t want to hear me railing him about the flu shot and the actual statistics of its uselessness, even before mRNA.
He listened over Covid and even joined me in ganging up on my sister to avoid them.

Talked to an older gentleman the other day, late (80’s) and he was just happy as a pig in sh*t , bragging about how he had just gotten his flu shot proudly showing me his band-aid on his arm. When he asked me if I had gotten the new shot yet I replied “No” , to which he asked “why not”. I told him that they wasn’t giving vaccines anymore and that they had changed the definition of what a vaccine was years ago for the “Scamdemic”. I could tell by the look on his face that he didn’t understand me and thought I was crazy. I told him that I believed that if is doesn’t kill you it just makes you stronger and had to quickly excuse myself and walked away, I couldn’t take the chance of someone overhearing me since I was “working” at the VA at the time.

Update(1240ET):
While dozens of ships have come under attack by Iran in the Hormuz Strait and nearby areas since the war began, resulting in damage and fires aboard vessels, it remains much more rare for a tanker to sink at a total loss.
However, the WSJ has confirmed Wednesday that two have completely sunk in the last 24 hours, the first of which we reported on below. Here are the further details via WSJ:
Two Emirati cargo ships have sunk in the past 24 hours after being struck in the Strait of Hormuz, an escalation with little precedent as Iran ramps up attacks to levels not seen since the war started.
The GFS Pride and the Cape Dao have both gone down, said Pakistan’s National Hydrographic Office, which monitors maritime activities in Middle Eastern waters. Maritime security companies confirmed the two losses Wednesday and said this was the first such incident in months.
The sinkings came as the U.S. military has been successfully shepherding more Gulf oil through the strait while bottling up Iranian oil exports with a naval blockade and sanctions.
