It has to do with the Video Privacy Protection Act (“VPPA”) that contains a one-sentence liability clause that prohibits a “video tape service provider” from “knowingly disclos(ing), to any person, personally identifiable information concerning any consumer of such provicer.” Paramount is a “video service provider.”
The question before the Court is “Whether the phrase “goods or services from a video tape service provider,” as used in the VPPA’s definition of “consumer,” refers to all of a video tape service provider’s goods or services or only to its audiovisual goods or services.”

I look at a few headlines on BBC, CBC and CNN first thing to get a sense of what the narrative engineers agenda is for the day. Then come over here, and to and the few other trusted independent media outlets/journos I still trust to what’s really going on in UK, USA and Canada.

A more accurate understanding was to grant power to congress to regulate only contracts and purchases among the States themselves with each other. Not the riduculousness of “anything involving money, markets prices, goods, -anything.”
There is a ridiculous case, ranking up there with the supremes infamous Dred Scott decision upholding slavery, as one of their most destructive decisions. In Wickard v. Filburn, 317 U.S. 111 (1942), the disingenuous supremes voted UNANIMOUSLY that an Ohio farmer who grew his own wheat to feed his own farm animals and family, buying nothing ‘in commerce’ from another state, was actually in commerce among the several states. Because he grew his own crops only in Ohio and therefore did not buy on the open market, he thereby depressed wheat prices and undermined the us government’s regulatory framework.
Anything and everything, even not engaging in any commerce, violates the commerce clause. And enables congresscritters to regulate it.

There is a site you can go to. Copy and paste the legalese into copilot and request it to be translated into simple English. You can do the same with medical reports. Problem solved.
I believe their complaint is more that the law has become so twisted because lawyers insist on twisting and then testing the common meaning of words to create havoc and wealth for themselves.
At the founding the law was written and determined plainly, such that you only needed a lawyer if for some reason you were not able to be present to represent yourself; for example travel of any meaningful distance could take you away for weeks or months at a time.
But because they had so relatively little work they were easily able to obtain public office where the nature of man caused laws to be written such that lawyers became necessary to interpret them.
It was not wholly deliberate, it just became how things were done and built upon itself until its become the problem we have now.

I tuned to Fox the other day to check it out. It has been since 2020 when I fully dropped them.
I was shocked at how negative the inflection of their commentators discourse was. They did not sound like happy people nor that they liked their jobs.
The difference from 2020, when they were already getting hard to watch, was incredible. They sounded like CNN with their haughty, disdainful coverage. They were projecting “I hate my life, this is why you should hate yours too”.
Governor Newsom signs the corporate slavery bill into law. All businesses are required to disclose if they used slavery in their history.

How man California companies had slaves when California never had slavery? How many pre-civil war nationwide companies are still in business today in California?
Companies like JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Aetna have ties to slavery and are still in business today. These companies benefited from practices such as insuring slaves and accepting them as collateral for loans. Also Brooks Brothers and New York Life. They don’t need California. It’s all a political dog and pony show.
The railroads and other industries used Chinese workers that were shipped in. I guess someone will call that slavery.

Actually most but not all Mexican pre-state slavery was indigenous people. Native Americans. Black slavery came later.
The history of slavery in California began with the enslavement of Indigenous Californians under Spanish colonial rule. The arrival of the Spanish colonists introduced chattel slavery and involuntary servitude to the area.
The indigenous tribes of northern California practiced slavery before Spanish rule. Almost a quarter of their population were slaves. A very Inconvenient truth.
I worked on a ranch in far West Texas that used Chinese Coolies as labor to construct a large concrete dam sometime around 1910 to 1912.
The railroad lines were close enough that the Coolies were transported over to work on the dam. It gave them work during off-time.
In fact, there is an old railroad line immediately next to the dam location.
I don’t think these were indentured servants like the initial Chinese laborers in the mid-1800’s.
They were most likely contracted. Although their wages were low, they worked harder and longer than other American laborers of that time. And, for the most part, they were sober while under contract to railroads.
Lots of interesting historical facts about Coolies, including that the term Coolie (Kuli in Hindi), originally referred to Indian laborers from the country of India.
California had slavery before America took it. There was also some slavery before it became a state.
But this sounds like a trap to prevent outside companies from doing business in California.
In the vein of Halliburton having to pay for asbestos victims after it bought something to do with defunct asbestos mining or manufacturing.
Imagine having to dig back through every purchase and merger.
I agree and I doubt it is constitutional. What about any company with ties to the Union Army that freed the south from slavery. Will California them some kind of break or award?

An ACT = LAW Passed by Congress, which can only be removed by Congress repealing-amending the ACT or the ACT being declared Unconstitutional by the Supreme Court as a verdict.
So your demand must be extended to asking RFK Jr. to request that the Executive Branch (President Trump) allow and support RFK Jr to file suit before the Supreme Court to remove the ACT-LAW.
This goes beyond RFK Jr and involves the Executive Branch filing suit as well as Steven Miller presenting a legislative remedy to Congress.

Having worked in county government I can explain a bit of why. When an asset is recovered the entity must sell it to get money back. These sales are well known to be what they are, distressed. That means the seller must sell at whatever the market will pay.
The market in these cases is not the general public and buyers are given no guarantees on title or problems associated with the asset. The buyers know that these assets must be sold so bidding is very low. The sellers often set a minimum bid but don’t get a single one until that minimum is dropped.
This is not a situation where assets can be sold at normal market prices. It’s much like companies that sell stuff other companies couldn’t sell. Pennies on the dollar in some cases. Would you pay the suggested retail price when advertising says “liquidation sale”?

Both the European “100 Million Barrel” Reserve Release (announced Oct 2) and the Russian “300,000 Ton” Waiver (announced Oct 9 under OFAC GL 135) fail completely.
President Emmanuel Macron and G7 leaders announced a coordinated release of up to 100 million barrels of combined crude and diesel stocks in response to soaring fuel costs.
National strategic petroleum reserves (SPRs) across Europe and IEA countries consist overwhelmingly of raw unrefined crude oil. Refined products like ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) degrade quickly in static storage tanks, meaning finished diesel stocks in European state reserves are virtually non-existent.
Dumping raw crude oil into a market where global refining capacity is maxed out does not create finished heating oil or diesel. Instead of suppressing distillate prices, dumping crude compressed crude prices relative to refined product prices, causing the heating oil crack spread to blow out to historic highs and driving NYMEX Heating Oil (HO) futures to new 2026 peak levels.
This new promise comes on top of the fact that IEA members have failed to fully deliver on the 400 million barrels pledged in March 2026. Tens of millions of barrels remain caught in administrative backlogs, prompting G7 communiqués to call on members to “immediately and fully implement” those outstanding commitments.
On October 9, the administration announced a deal with Vladimir Putin for an immediate release of 300,000 metric tons of Russian diesel. The US Treasury’s OFAC simultaneously issued General License 135, temporarily legalizing commercial transactions for Russian-origin ULSD through April 7, 2027.
Converting weight to volume, 300,000 metric tons equals roughly 2.2 million barrels of diesel. Even if the rumored long-term goal of 90 million barrels ever materialized, it amounts to roughly 3 days of global burn.
Following internal refinery damage from Ukrainian drone strikes and Russia’s domestic export restrictions to protect its military and agricultural logistics, Russian refiners lack the operational capacity or transport pipelines to move these volumes to export markets.
OFAC General License 135 merely waives legal sanctions liability for commercial traders. Issuing a paper waiver does not fix damaged hydrocrackers or create physical distillate.

Just get Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi, Israel, and the Gulf states all on the same page, and quickly win the war with Iran, with all participating as a coalition.

People who wear fragrances like perfume and aftershave are often “nose-blind”.
They literally cannot smell, having a diminished capacity because the chemicals cause ollifactory desensitization.
Same thing happens with people who use those “air freshener” chemicals in their homes.
The chemical odors saturate their clothing, hair, and even the foods in their homes.
They probably have no idea how bad they smell nor are they aware of the toxic effects on themselves and other people.
Several years ago, I noticed that sometimes when I bought prepared foods like cookies or breads at the farmers market that the food product would taste like the smell of air freshener and I’d have to throw out what I bought.
I didn’t even toss it to the chickens or into the compost, just threw it in the garbage outside.
Now, before I buy anything at the market I smell the bag or container first.
All that to say, Quinn, is that I’ve gotten sick off of perfume and other chemical toxins, the way you described the migraine you got from that stinking waitress.
Next time you get a migraine, you might do what I do and try some dark chocolate (72% and higher, no soy lecithin) or the chocolate covered coffee beans or perhaps, some of the homeopathic remedies for headaches and migraines.
