Border Security Vote – McConnell Unleashes Two-Thirds of Decepticon Caucus to Keep Borders Open…

Delivering a targeted message from U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Dohonue, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unleashed twelve members of his Decepticon caucus to rebuke the border security efforts of President Donald Trump.

Doing what he does best, Leader McConnell held back (protected): John Thune, John Cornyn, John Barasso, Mike Crapo, Ben Sasse, Thom Tillis & Cory Gardner. However, the remaining dozen (see below) were permitted to vote against the President for Joint Resolution (H.J. Res. 46 ):

(See Full Vote Here)

The support for the U.S. Chamber’s open-border initiative is McConnell’s strongest showing yet that he controls almost enough votes to support impeachment; if the President continues to advance policy initiatives not supported by The Chamber and Business Roundtable.

Despite McConnell’s effort/threat President Trump has vowed to veto the resolution.

  (Tweet Link)

Between Tom Donohue and the Business Roundtable they spent almost $118,000,000 last year funding UniParty votes for their Wall Street initiatives and legislation.  Open-ended immigration is the holy grail for the multinationals.  Their K-Street community will not allow border security without putting up a very serious fight.  There are trillions at stake.

Of course we do. Btw, if you are still in GA, GA is under deep state attack IMO. I’d start looking very hard at local races even at the county commissioner and school board level. They’ve launched a Soros style grassroots takeover and it’s working. Look at the “Justice League” Justice Democrats who have taken the Gwinnett County Commissioner seat and are taking over the Gwinnett County Public School Board. Gwinnett used to be solid red and Trump did not carry Gwinnett in 2016.

Cruz never did explain the photograph of his father, Rafael, handing out pro-Castro fliers alongside Lee Harvey Oswald…three months before Oswald assassinated Kennedy.

Trump put Cruz on notice with that photograph. Trump has dirt on Cruz and his family that will bury Cruz forever. Cruz is a commie dirtbag posing as a Texas good ole boy. Just like the Bushes.

Cruz never disavowed the authenticity of the photograph, he just expressed his “outrage” that Trump would attack his father. A very lawyerly response. Ever since then Cruz has shut his mouth and fallen into line. Trump hasn’t brought it up since.

Trump has known these people for decades and has the goods on all of them. As a business man he used to have to pay bribes to these dirtbags. I think Trump is massaging the situation to make it appear that the Republicans in Congress are working with him while at the same time being in possession of evidence that would put most of them in prison for the rest of their lives.

They know Trump has dirt on them but they don’t know how much. Hence, they constantly dabble in frustrating his agenda and they are all thinking about voting to impeach him. But Trump never shows his cards. As soon as they start to get out of line he drops a bomb like the Cruz photo and they all slither back under their rocks and fall into line.

“I’ll hit them harder than they’ve ever been hit.” It’s fun to watch the Master at work.

Our enemies are the 47 Dems who voted in lock step to stop Trump from doing his job as we want it done. Here is a 5 paragraph rant about Ted Cruz, when he voted to give PDJT what we wanted. Why the vitriol towards someone who votes on our side on the wall? Because three years ago he had the temerity to try to run for President himself? Would you want to be trashed for something your father may have done when you were a baby? It was just politics.

This situation is a war for the survival of the USA and we are on the brink of a disaster worse than anything we have ever seen. Lets try working to keep Ted in our camp because he could easily defect if he believes he will never be forgiven by us, no matter what he does. If it wasn’t for Ted Cruz, our Supreme Court may have removed our Second Amendment from us.

I voted for Ted in Colorado, but I am a full on Trump supporter because my enemies are Communists. Do I need to be lashed under the yoke because I had the temerity to vote for a candidate I preferred at the time. I hope you see the difference.

Ted is a lawyer and a good one who tires to adhere to the Constitution as it is written. Ted is a smart guy who is able to change his own mind when he gains additional insights. He may be coming around to the MAGA world view if he is faced with the truths he discovers from the MAGA folks he encounters.

We stopped contributing to the RNC when we first began to recognize RINO activity – a couple of years before we had a Candidate Trump. It is a good fight-back strategy for voters, particularly registered Republicans at the grass roots level: We, the Nobodies.

When the $ solicitations arrive in your mailbox – USPS or electronically – don’t pitch the solicitation into the trash. Write a very visible note on it, saying that you are no longer contributing to candidates via the Party apparatus, and that you will no longer support the Republican Party financially. WRITE that you will donate only, and directly, to individual candidates of your choice. Spend a postal stamp, and send your response back to the source in the envelope that was provided for your check or credit card info.

If the solicitation arrives electronically, RESPOND, with a “Thanks, but no thanks, and take the time to describe the reason(s) why. Make your statement strong, simple, and incontrovertible.

Since Tom Donohue as CoC front man, and the Globalists, intend to maintain functional control over U.S. Senators and House Members, let the record show that the Republican Party apparatus and their endorsed Candidates are now entirely funded by big, dark $$$.

This is a way for us to start fighting back effectively. Money talks. The State and National levels of the GOP will not like the appearance of all the small, individual contributions landing directly and exclusively in the campaign war chests of President Donald Trump, House Members of the Freedom Caucus, and only a handful of U.S. Senators. It is the Senate fund that will suffer the most from the refusal of individual small donors to kick in. They will try to cover it up, but the ruse will have a short shelf life.

      All politics is local.

For example: Collins in Maine…IF she were successfully primaried by a more conservative candidate….would probably deliver that Senate seat to the Dems as Maine is a liberal State.

Alexander is my Sen here in TN. He leveraged his popularity and incumbency to always win here despite the fact TN has moved right overall the last 15 years. Corker saw that and didn’t even bother to run, and we elected Marsha Blackburn. Alexander probably saw that he might draw a conservative primary opponent in 2020, and that may have influenced his decision to retire. Maybe not. But the end result is that we now have a good shot at filling his seat with a non-RINO.

      Liked by 3 people

  19. L4grasshopper says:

Not a single one of the 12 no votes was a surprise. Perhaps the one no that I might not have expected was Lee, the other Utah guy with Romney. Usually a consistent conservative, his libertarian impulses kick in once in a while.

Otherwise, most of the no votes came from known NeverTrumpers like Collins, Murkowski, Romney, Alexander, and Rubio.

Trump’s veto will be easily upheld in the House where it takes 57 Republicans to vote to over ride. Given that only 13 of them voted “no” in the first place, it would be crazy if 44 GOPers who voted yes a week ago suddenly changed their mind to actually over ride the veto.

Coda: Alexander is my Senator. While not quite the RINO tool that Corker was, he’s close. Marsha Blackburn replaced Corker this year. Am hearing two names mentioned to replace Alexander: Mark Green, who took Blackburn’s House seat, and Bill Haslam, the recent GOP Gov of the State. Of the two, Green would be preferred, as Haslam is more of an Alexander than a Blackburn.

IMO, the emergency declaration is working just as PDJT preplanned. This is just an expected part.

    1. National Emergency isn’t financially necessary to get the most critical ~270 (or 277, reports vary) miles of replacement/new ‘wall’ that CBP asked for, out of the reportedly 722 miles ultimately desired. Posted the math in more detail previously, but to resum: ~$1.4b for ~40 miles of Rio sector levee wall (levees are expensive), plus (per Mulvaney) $0.6b from Treasury forfeitures and ~$2.8b from 10USC284. Total ex Rio sector $3.4b. In NM, an actual accepted 2018 bid is $101m for 14 miles of Normandy barrier replacement, ~$7.2m/mile, with construction videos previously posted by others here. Now 270-40= ~230 miles at ~7.2m/mile = ~$1.7b. Master builder PDJT has got these most important parts on time and under budget.

    2. Flushed the Dems and RINOs out of hiding , making a nice 2020 election issue. PDJT tweets to Senate (open borders, crime, drugs) prior to this vote have nicely and indelibly framed the issue.

    3. The states led by CA suing to stop emergency will eventually only provide more ‘open borders, crime, drugs’ news fodder closer to the election.

I am not upset. I’m laughing at VSGPDJT’ chess gambit. Well played.

In a Romney vs any Democrat race, for President or Senator, holding one’s nose to vote GOP is necessary as the alternative is ALWAYS worse — especially if loss of that seat is the difference in who controls the House or the Senate. And with the President — who is appointing those judges.

The House flushed a lot of RINOs in 2018. The price was Pelosi back in charge. But it has exposed the Dems are the neo-Marxists that they are, and the GOP should be able to re-take the House in 2020, and if they do, hopefully with a freshman class who are a lot more conservative.

But I told him they will not do this because they do want a president to us this power (if they approve of him). They can’t have it both ways. ‘Robby’ isn’t conceding, though, that the State he represents is right up at the top in drug related deaths – from drugs crossing the southern border. He voted against the addicts, their families, and the families of those whose family members are now dead. Every time someone in Ohio dies from a drug overdose, the family should send him a personal invitation to attend the funeral – along with a request for refund of the contributions they made to his campaign – to help pay for the funeral, for the deceased’s children, or so they can buy flowers for their loved ones.

The church claims 14 million members around the world, more than half outside the United States. Plus the Lutheran Church and the Baptist Church are getting millions of dollars from the U.S. government to run the resettlement programs, shipping the illegals all over the country, finding them housing, giving them food and clothing, and assisting them in applying for welfare and other benefits. Organized religions are selling out our country.

Mike Lee was one of them. The Kochs ran Evan McMullin to try to split the vote and take votes away from Trump in Utah. The Kochs are Never-Trumpers and one brother actually said that he’d prefer Hillary to be President.
For some reason I don’t understand — and I know quite a few Mormons where I live — the Mormons want to import people from other countries to settle here. Maybe they think as Christians we need to help people. I think we help the Third World plenty with the billions of dollars America gives to their countries to help fight poverty and disease. We can’t import these low-IQ socialists and expect our own country not to change for the worse and descend into Socialism and tyranny (they’ll vote to destroy our Bill of Rights).

The UniParty senators and representatives have no need to be responsive to the taxpayers in each state because they write and sign their own paychecks through the US Treasury. I believe the following amendment would resolve many of the nation’s current problems with unrepresentative representatives.

Proposed Amendment to US Constitution, Article I, Section 6:

Trump lied to the American people about his stand on illegal immigration. He used the Angel Moms and Dads — brought them up on stage at campaign rallies — to get votes. His “Build The Wall” was nothing more than a campaign slogan, not a true promise. I supported Trump by volunteering my time in a campaign office and by donating several hundred dollars to his campaign and by posting on social media to defend the attacks on him from the Billy Bush tape and from women who say he molested them.
Now, I’M DONE. I voted for Trump in the primary on 2 issues: controlling illegal immigration and defending the 2nd Amendment. He has failed us on both. We have record numbers of illegals pouring into our country. He is lying to us about the wall — it’s not being built as he claims — and about the illegals apprehended being deported — they are being released into our country, i.e., the Catch and Release program which Trump had promised to end. Trump made a serious error by banning bump stocks. This is a slippery slope which could lead to a ban of sights and scopes. Some move by a guy who ran on supporting the 2nd Amendment.
At this point, I don’t care if Congress impeaches Trump. We’ll have a lot of info about the Deep State come out during the trial, and that would be good for our country. I can no longer defend Trump. Let the Democrats tear into him and his family. I’m done!

That’s bizarre. You do understand that bumps stocks effectively convert a semi auto to full auto? Inaccurate but full auto. Full auto has been banned in the US, since 1930’s I think, though is possible for collectors etc with stricter checks and fees and conditions on ownership.

Full auto has nothing whatever to do with “sights”. They are in no way comparable.
      A Trump good move.

      Like

      • BTY says:

Full auto is not banned. You require a federal license to own a machine gun and of course it must be registered. The bump stock is an accessory. The ban sets a precedent that any accessory can be banned, including laser sights and scopes. Trump issued this ban, which the President has no authority to do, based on an unproven assumption that a bump stock was used in the Mandalay Bay shooting. Those 85-shot-long volleys were from a full-auto machine gun, no way was it from an AR-15 fitted with a bump stock. The sound is of the M240 SAW. The photo from Paddock’s room of the one gun with a bump stock also had a bipod attached, which would render the bump stock unworkable. Trump bought into the FBI narrative that the mass shooting was not terrorism, despite FOUR claims of responsibility issued by ISIS. We Americans were lied to about the Mandalay Bay mass shooting, and Trump used this tragedy to enact gun control. That’s what I expect from a Socialist or a Democrat.

Please read up on this important issue of the bump stock ban. It is potentially much more far-reaching than it seems. Here are 2 articles from Breitbart.

Trump was a candidate who would not be president without the support of the pro-gun community. And yet, President Bill Clinton’s semi-automatic ban — as odious as it was — contained a grandfather clause, unlike the Trump ban.

        https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/04/25/michael-hammond-trump-bump-stock-regulation-ban-millions-semi-automatic-rifles/

The Washington Examiner reports that gun rights advocates feel the ban is a “betrayal” and a “stab in the back.”

Gun Owners of America and Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) are two gun rights groups filing suit against the ban. FPC has already filed its suit.

        FPCs Brandon Combs said:
The bottom line is President Trump has been more anti-gun in his tenure, in terms of legislation and regulations, than the Obama administration. I think his base is probably going to see in the next election cycle the choice between someone who has not been great for us and someone who would probably be worse. Then the question is, what would that mean for turnout?

Take “Catch and release” … that’s not something which Trump has any control over. The Congress acting in conjunction with the courts has made “catch and release” the law of the land. Trump has no power to rewrite the law.

The great majority in Congress, including the majority of Republicans, are absolutely dead set against securing the border. and building a wall. That’s an insurmountable problem for whoever is in the Oval Office, regardless of how strongly he wants the border to be secured.

People like you, assuming you’re for real and not a moby, are the dupes of the Chamber of Commerce crowd. You’re willing to leave all the rotten Republicans in Congress, while being determined to get rid of the patriot in the WH.

Absolutely some of the Republicans in Congress are the problem. But President Trump is the Commander in Chief. He has a duty to protect our country from invasion, yet he has failed to use his authority to send the military to secure our southern border. The military he sent there are unarmed and are only there to string some concertina wire (easily cut) above some fencing and to assist border patrol in processing the migrants entering our country. These migrants are NOT being deported, they are staying in our country.
Instead of being a bold Commander, Trump has instead put himself in a weak legal position by employing the 1976 Congressional act giving the President power to declare an emergency. This failure to act is on Trump. We voted for someone who said he is not establishment Republican and will build a wall to curb illegal immigration and we got Open Borders Jeb! or Rubio.
Illegal immigration is responsible for much crime in our country, including rapes and murders. When the illegals are given amnesty and permitted to vote, the U.S. will be transformed into a Socialist nation with no Bill of Rights and no freedom.

He can also use the military to build the wall. Trump promised an Executive Order to discontinue the misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment and stop the anchor babies. No further mention of this once the mid-terms were over.
This Trump I see in the Oval Office today is not the candidate Trump who was a fighter and a doer, the man who got me excited about supporting him and feeling hopeful again about the future of our country. I attended 7 Trump rallies plus a Pence rally. I bought so much Trump apparel for me and my family. We were decked out, LOL! But they have no responsibility right? 8 plus years they had control of the house and senate…crickets on Obama and immigration!!! And don’t FORGET Repeal and Replace Obamacare…for 8 years they fund raised and campaigned on it. When the time came to do it..another GOP RHINO fail.

Please don’t lecture me or the rest of us here about opening our eyes…my eyes are wide open!!! Maybe you should open yours!

Oh I agree with you that the RINOs in Congress are partly responsible for this lack of action to control illegal immigration. But Trump ran against the Republican establishment and promised his negotiating skills would allow him to bring about bipartisan cooperation to MAGA. But Trump did nothing to build the wall except construct 8 prototypes during the 2 years the Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress. He signed spending bills which did not include money for the wall nor the money he requested to hire 5000 additional Border Patrol agents and 10,000 more ICE agents.
Now things have reached a crisis at the border with 990,000 illegals expected to come in this year. They are NOT being deported, they are allowed to stay while their asylum claims are processed. Only 150 have been sent back to wait in Mexico. Trump is lying in his tweets that they are apprehended and deported.
I am very knowledgeable about the immigration issue, getting input from LE and others on the border. I write about this issue. BP is disgusted by the continuation of the Catch and Release program. The ICE union just sent a letter to President Trump complaining about the crisis. Go read it. This is from the people who actually work the border.
Trump is Commander in Chief and has a duty to protect this nation. He is failing.

Whatever he does, he is stopped by Dems, members of his own party, or by activists judges!!! What’s he supposed to do?? He listened to a bunch of backstabbing RHINOS who promised him the GOP would get to that in the next budget…they lied, President Trump did not. Is he supposed to defy a Judges order? Everytime he tries to do something, he is stopped by the courts, the Dems, some state or activist group filing a law suite…but MOSTLY by members of his own party!

I have been a voting Republican all my life, but my eyes are wide open now and I am wise to the lies! No one will stop me from voting or supporting President Trump in 2020.

I see what the GOP is doing and it won’t work! I will only support candidates that support him now. That emergency declaration that 12 GOP members just voted against, says it all. It would get the wall built, but the GOP as well as the Dems are fighting against it tooth and nail! No body else could or would do what he has done for this country…and by the way Ted Cruz would have never beaten Hillary!! I like Ted but he will never be elected President.

Any truly representative government that makes policy choices that are actually in the best interests of its citizens requires at least one of two essential conditions:

    1. A government that actually does the bidding of the people when those wishes are in conflict with the wishes of powerful vested interests (aka, the oligarchy).
    2. A citizenry that is extremely well informed on innumerable highly complex topics so they can make the proper choices and submit informed votes.

Since #2 cannot possibly exist for a number of completely intractable reasons, the citizenry must trust the government to make the proper decisions for them in which case condition #1 is easily and inevitably violated. The citizenry isn’t paying attention and/or has a simplistic or no real understanding of the complex issues at hand and can therefore be swayed by simplistic or propagandist reporting to vote in line with the wishes of the oligarchy controlling the government. Voters serve only to legitimize the elected officials and their legislative choices while also providing the illusion of voter control.

So, even though I’m not an anarchist, I’ll quote one because I mostly agree with the quote:

“If voting changed anything, they’d make it illegal.” – Emma Goldman

Note that voting COULD change things if condition #1 or #2 was met, but since #2 is impossible thereby leading to an inevitable violation of #1, she is effectively correct. Voting as actually conducted won’t change anything that the oligarchy doesn’t WANT changed. Proof of this:

Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens

    http://scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf

    Excerpts:

A great deal of empirical research speaks to the policy influence of one or another set of actors, but until recently it has not been possible to test these contrasting theoretical predictions against each other within a single statistical model. We report on an effort to do so, using a unique data set that includes measures of the key variables for 1,779 policy issues.

Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence. The results provide substantial support for theories of Economic-Elite Domination and for theories of Biased Pluralism, but not for theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy or Majoritarian Pluralism.

In the United States, our findings indicate, the majority does not rule—at least not in the causal sense of actually determining policy outcomes. When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites or with organized interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the U.S. political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favor policy change, they generally do not get it.

…the preferences of economic elites (as measured by our proxy, the preferences of “affluent” citizens) have far more independent impact upon policy change than the preferences of average citizens do. To be sure, this does not mean that ordinary citizens always lose out; they fairly often get the policies they favor, but only because those policies happen also to be preferred by the economically-elite citizens who wield the actual influence.

    ————

…and it’s nothing at all new:

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.” – Edward Bernays – Propaganda – 1928

In response to BTY: Without President Trump we would not even be having a conversation or arguing about illegal immigration. Candidate Trump is the one who made it an issue and President Trump is doing everything he can to fix it.

Many of the problems need to be corrected by Congress; a Congress which is unwilling to act on behalf of the American people.

You should care if Congress impeaches Trump because if that happens, next will be Vice President Pence and you will have “Botox Nancy” as President.

Trump is purposely NOT controlling illegal immigration. He does not need Congress’ approval to defend our country from invasion, which is exactly what millions of illegals pouring into our country is. As Commander in Chief he can send our military to the border. He can declare the Mexican cartels to be Foreign Terrorist Organizations the same as Al-Qaeda and ISIS (which they are).
Trump did nothing in his first 2 years toward building a wall except build 8 prototypes — now destroyed — and bring up the wall while campaigning for candidates during the mid-term election with signs saying “Finish The Wall” when it has not even been started. This is lying outright to the American People and I am outraged and never expected this from the man I trusted and supported.
Trump has surrounded himself with pro-illegals and pro-amnesty advisors, the only exception being Stephen Miller. He pushed out Steve Bannon who helped get him elected. He fired Gen. Mike Flynn, another staunch supporter who organized veterans rallies and helped get him elected. Now he’s turning on another very loyal supporter, Ann Coulter, because she called him out on his lies about the border wall.
WAKE UP! Trump is failing to keep his promise of halting illegal immigration. Our country is being transformed by this invasion which President Trump is failing to stop. Next on the agenda will be amnesty for 50 million illegals. Mark my words.

How many of this tribe of 12 are up for re-election in 2020? I expect that answer equals why their vote was chosen by McConnell. Also, If my memory serves me correctly there are 20 rats up for re-election in 2020 and primaries matter.

NO! You are wrong! Read Sundance’s post at beginning of the thread, and he explains the Turtle let some of the “never-Trumpers-Anti-Trumps not vote on purpose against Trump with this bill . Sundance explained the Turtle had the votes for 2/3rds vote against Trump… but held back, … in showdown with Trump. Sundance gave the extra people who would be willing to vote against Trump … if push came to shove.

So, it’s a WARNING shot over Trump’s bow, to let Trump know he should tread lightly if he is going to take on the Turtle or the GOPe Senate in a head on fight.

But Trump’s supporters should voice their anger and do all we can to expose this GOPe Scam!

I’m hoping Sundance hires or thinks about getting someone to be “FRONT person” to represent the TreeHouse on Media/TV/FOX and other places. Someone Sundance trusts completely to put forth this sites stance and can with-stand the pressure of backlash. So far, the TreeHouse is print/web presence and not on Tucker/Hannity/Ingram shows and other right wing shows. Maybe that will change. I would welcome the voice of the Tree House on TV! 🙂

Do not give the RNC 1 penny for starters. Fund President Trump as much as you possibly can. McConnell, and for that matter, none of them have ever faced an adversary like him before; make The President as strong as we possibly can. And please, no more plaudits for the snake Graham. Pay attention to what Sun Dance is telling us.
