The Potomac Two-Step: Imran Awan Allowed To Escape any Charges That Would Implicate Congress….

Imran Awan pleaded guilty today to one count of bank fraud.  However, all of the more serious charges; that were based on intelligence compromises and national security; and that naturally would implicate members of congress; were dropped and dispatched by federal prosecutors.

Add in the date of the announcement today, when everyone is headed to a long July 4th holiday weekend, and voilà we see the all-too-familiar Potomac Two-Step:

(Via Daily Caller)  An assistant US attorney said Tuesday he would not prosecute Imran Awan, a former systems administrator for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other Democrats, for any crimes on Capitol Hill in a plea agreement that had him plead guilty to one count of bank fraud.

Only one person sat at the prosecutors’ table: J.P. Coomey, who unsuccessfully prosecuted New Jersey Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez for corruption and was only added to the case Monday. There was no sign of Michael Marando, who had previously led the prosecution.

Coomey did not object to the removal of Awan’s GPS monitor, said he would not oppose a sentence of probation, and agreed to drop charges against his wife, fellow former systems administrative Hina Alvi.  (continue reading)

Has the Daily Caller reporting been truthful and accurate? I don’t know. Actions by those involved lead me to believe it has been. But it is VERY clear at this point that a tremendous amount of political pull was used to kill this investigation.

    1. Hillary Clinton and Debbie Wasserman Shultz rigged the Democratic primary. That fact is not in dispute.
    2. DWS stepped down after that was revealed.
    3. DWS actions after news of Awan broke further reveal the reporting is likely accurate.

    So, what is going on?

THE HILLARY CLINTON WING OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY DOES NOT WANT ANYONE TO GAIN ACCESS TO WHAT IS ON THE COMPUTERS CONTROLLED BY HILLARY CLINTON.SUPPORTERS.

    – Seth Rich found out. He is now dead
    – Imran Awan found out. His wife and other participants are out of the country. They know. So, Imran basically gets a pass. His leverage is his relatives who are out of reach of the DOJ. Won’t be surprised at all if Awan’s wife and family are quietly killed off.
    – The Dems never let the FBI have access to the DNC servers.
    – Hillary Clinton wiped her server and destroyed her Blackberries. Dead Blackberries don’t talk.
    – The FBI got hold of Weiner’s computer, which had hundreds of thousands of Clinton emails on it. What happened then? The FBI doubled down on getting Trump. Who here thinks that laptop will ever see the light of day? I don’t

I think the scope and magnitude of the Clinton Corruption Machine is so vast that most of the swamp is either totally committed to the Clintons or completely scared of them. It is hard to buy off the electoral college. That is the only thing they don’t control.

President Trump has been fantastic, but he controls very little in Washington. It has been 25+ years since Bill and Hillary Clinton arrived in Washington DC. They have had 25 years to solidify power and buy off the judges and politicians. Removing the corruption will not happen overnight.

    • How Stupid is the world? Anyone should have been able to figure out that Imran Awan hacked the DNC computer almost daily; it was on the news for weeks they gave him the password … I keep hearing about the Deep state and I agree that it exist and that it his running the government. But what I want to know is. “WHO IS THE HEAD OF THE DEEP STATE”? I am sure our elected officials know the answer to this … I was under the impression that Congressmen as well as all other representatives took an oath uphold the constitution of the united states of America. Either I am very misinformed or they are of very questionable integrity! Business As Usual.

Because if the Awans are the ones who accessed the contents of the DNC servers via compromise of Wasserman Schultz’s accounts which could then provide some kind of path to admin level access on the DNC servers, the entire reason for the start of the Russian collusion story against Trump falls completely apart. No law enforcement agency has ever confirmed the hack or its cause because they were never allowed to look at the servers and the private firm that did the analysis was heavily linked to the DNC and the Clintons.

If Trump allows this to pass, he is an idiot.

MORE BS! (What is with these AG Sessions haters??)

Why can the president fire the FBI director?

“[…]White House press secretary Sean Spicer said in a statement.

“President Trump acted based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Spicer added.”…

The President has held the power to appoint and dismiss the director of the FBI at his or her discretion since 1968.The current nomination and confirmation process for the FBI director was created by an amendment to the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968.[…]”

Backgrounder: The Power to Appoint & Remove the FBI Director
      By Robert Chesney

I thought a brief backgrounder on the power of the President to appoint and to remove the FBI Director might be in order this morning…

      The Power to Appoint

It is widely—and accurately—assumed that the President has the authority to appoint the FBI Director, yet a quick glance at the relevant statute (28 USC 532) might leave some confusion since it appears to refer instead to the Attorney General[…]

The Power to Remove the Director

Now, what about the power to remove the Director? This part is actually quite straightforward as a legal matter, given that Congress at no point has attempted to constrain the president’s removal power.”

So Gateway pundit needs to go back and do his homework!

    From the Daily Caller article:

    “The agreement says:

After the entry of your client’s plea of guilty to the offense identified in paragraph 1 above, your client will not be charged with any non-violent criminal offense in violation of Federal or District of Columbia law which was committed within the District of Columbia by your client prior to the execution of this Agreement AND about which this Office was made aware by your client prior to the execution of this Agreement, all of which is contained in the attached Statement of Offense. However, the United States expressly reserves its right to prosecute your client for any crime of violence.”

Is part of that legalese notable? He won’t be charged with any non-violent criminal offense “about which this Office was made aware by your client prior to the execution of this Agreement?”

Does that mean that he copped to all violations of Federal or DC law and he won’t be charged for those crimes but CAN BE charged with any crimes he didn’t admit to (that they know about or may in time learn about)?

So, provided he copped to everything he did, every violation of every law, are they going after bigger fish? Otherwise, why give him a pass on all these many alleged very serious crimes?

Can we hope there’s another shoe to drop, or is this just a massive cover up? And if so, WHY?

He’s going to get probation! This is an appalling and discouraging miscarriage of justice that undermines any citizen’s faith in the DOJ. How can anyone have faith in the concept of equal justice? If this is how they handle what looks like foreign infiltration of our government that has a direct impact on national security, then how can anyone have any sense of safety or security, if this stands?

Hillary used her private servers to sell our secrets. Democrats and Swamp creatures used Awan to see secrets to our other enemies. They got paid. We got robbed.

The Swamp and Globalists have become very rich off the core belief that America is not exceptional. In selling our secrets, (including NASA secrets) the entire Swamp worked hard to level the playing field with the world. In other words we were made just like any other country when our “exceptionalism” was sold to the highest bidder.

They have all benefited. There will be no justice. It is a concentric government that serves itself. The whole thing, from elected officials to Union representatives, to the US Chamber of Commerce. I sent everyone the entire list of the US CoC, they are Global. Why they even have United States in their title must be just an historical reference because they don’t represent the American people. They are only interested in taking what is left of our wealth and distributing it to themselves.

Patriots will only be able to fight them in a bloodless fight during this window….and it’s closing. President Trump is our last chance to have a peaceful return to an honest government. And there isn’t a person here on The Conservative Treehouse that doesn’t know it. No one is going to save American Patriots in the DOJ/FBI/CIA/State Dept/IRS or any other government behemoth.

God helps those who help themselves.

Walk down memory lane about the Awans:

he Florida congresswoman insists Awan didn’t have access to any classified information.

But King refuted the former DNC chair’s claims, explaining that Democratic members of Congress who serve on intelligence committees would, by the nature of their work, correspond about sensitive information.

“The argument is that there was no classified information that was compromised or breached – that’s what they said about Hillary Clinton at first,” he said. “Some of them – like Andre Carson served on the Select Committee on Intelligence – would have access to the highest level of classified information that we have in the United States Congress.”

Hillary Clinton claimed there was no secret information on her private email server setup, but investigators revealed later there were significant numbers of emails containing classified material.

King said the Democrats essentially surrendered highly classified material to anti-American Pakistani workers who “don’t have allegiance to the United States.”

“The GOP wants to put the government back on its rails again and operating efficiently. Democrats want to pull it down,” he said. “When we hire people to work in our office, I want to make sure I am looking them in the eye. I want to know whose doing what work and what they’re going to get paid for that. That’s our jobs to do that.

“Instead, they are funneling taxpayer dollars to people who, at a minimum, are not natural-born American citizens. If they’re sending money to Pakistan and absconding to Pakistan, they don’t have allegiance to the United States, either.”

The Awans could be just “a crooked family that found a way to scam the House of Representatives and skim wages out,” he said.

But the worst-case scenario, King explained, is the Pakistani family funneled information or money “into the hands of the Taliban or ISIS.”

“It could be a coordinated effort to set up a pseudo business here in the House of Representatives, for the purposes of gaining access to classified, prioritized information,” he said. “Who would that money go to in Pakistan? Family perhaps. But we also know there are extensive and sophisticated money-electing methods in that part of the world.

“The network that’s there allowed them to bill for the computer equipment for just a few dollars less than $500, then sign a service contract that would be of multiple hours. They could rake all that money out and move the equipment out because they are not required to inventory computer equipment that’s under $500. The wages and the computer equipment are not as important, in my view, as access to all of this proprietary information – which may be classified.”

He criticized Wasserman Schultz for putting the family on the congressional payroll and then keeping them there even though an investigation was raising questions.

“It’s not a new pattern for her – she refused to allow the FBI to look at the DNC computers when they wanted to investigate the Russian attempt to hack into the DNC – she hasn’t been held adequately accountable for that,” he said.

“WikiLeaks had emails of Imran and his brothers. If you believe the Russians did the hacking, and they handed the emails over to WikiLeaks, that meant the Russians had access to a lot of information on Democrat House members. Democrats House members don’t want an investigation – they don’t want the public to find out what’s in the emails nor do they want Americans to know the facts about how they left their doors wide open to a group that’s at best, scam artists.”

Wasserman Schultz claimed it was “Islamophobia” that sparked the investigations.

Seems like DWS and Becerra can relax. Or can they? In the larger scheme of things, the Awans are but minnows. We got what we needed, namely the server.

Remember, thanks to NSA, we have the truth of what went on, but the difficulty was how to get that into evidence that can be used in prosecution. Also remember, Awan pled to bank fraud. This opens the door to a very deep rabbit hole – tracing every dime that passes thru his accounts and more. More than likely, Awan is very cooperative with the investigation in exchange for being expelled from this country when they are done with him.

Since these guys were supposedly very good at what they did (hacking) I am sure they did not limit their spying on Dems but also Republicans. Lots of dirt in both parties. TERM LIMITS.

This is an interesting article about the awan’s being found out, brecerra involvement. I think much more is going on here.

That article references a Feb 2017 memo.
The DOJ this week stating in court they found no criminality in the server case by Awan et al. definitely overides that.

IMO this case is over, buried by DOJ. And we just help cover it up if we assume some secret investigation that isn’t happening, rather than complaining/publicizing the coverup.

Yeah, looks like Awan himself may be relatively safe from future charges. But like others have already commented, I don’t see any proof that his “plea agreement” is a good sign for the others involved. I mean congressmen and others that were involved with Awan… seems to me this “plea agreement” could very easily include a stipulation that he has to provide evidence/testimony against them. (And that part of the plea deal could even remain under seal for the time being.)
