CTH has attempted to stay away from talking about the Alabama ‘clown show‘, all of it, since we made our position clear long before the primary run-off race. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes etc.
My concern with the Alabama mess was a very simple MAGA issue: riding horses to polling stations does not establish a connection to the man or woman who hit the necessary alarm clock at 5:15am to pay the bills. Those are MAGA people. That’s the essence of the Trump coalition.
The MAGA coalition I know has never been predisposed to racism, sexism, nativism, or any other kind of “ism” or “ist”, because we’ve never been not busy. It takes time to give a rats-ass about bathroom police, social justice etc. Time and energy for that, who has it?
The current position of the epic fiasco was/is entirely predictable…. warnings, deaf ears, blah-blah-blah; water under the bridge. That said, the current race to the exits by all of the fly-by-nights (populist wallflowers) is embarrassing to see play out.
Factually, I feel sorry for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moore… However, I don’t have a smidgen of sympathy for the noob-right financial opportunists: Steve Bannon, Laura Ingraham, Sebastian Gorka et al, or the political Roberts-The-Bruce: Ted Cruz, Mike Lee etc. Heck, I’m still waiting for the ‘Use El Chappo Money to Build The Wall‘ bill… I digress.
So why engage now? Well, today Rush Limbaugh weighs in in using the customary (passive aggressive/mamet principle) approach to frame the argument as: “The Roy Moore Soap Opera is Really About McConnell -vs- Bannon”. No, no it’s not.
I understand the frame of reference, why Limbaugh views it that way, but that’s not an accurate assessment.
The UniParty is against Roy Moore, not just simply Mitch McConnell and the professional political apparatus within the GOP elitist class. Things are not what they were in 2014.
In 2014 such a Limbaugh framework would be accurate (though the GOPe cat had his tongue back then). Indeed, during the 2014 Thad Cochran -vs- Chris McDaniel race the current perspective of Limbaugh would have been accurate. But that was then, this is now 2017.
In 2014 there were billions worth of personal and party indulgences at stake; in 2017 there are trillions of UniParty indulgences at stake.
In 2014 Mitch McConnell was trying to use Thad Cochran to defeat the Tea party. In 2017 the entire apparatus of the DC system is trying to use Alabama to defeat the existential risk that is Donald Trump.
If ‘political strategist’ Steve Bannon, or ‘political thinker’ Rush Limbaugh, were half as smart as they say they are, they’d chip in buy a vowel, get a clue and see that.
This is no longer small enough for individual personalities, this is a much bigger zero-sum outcome battle albeit with useful side-benefits in smacking Bannon’s ego down to size etc. Which, in all honesty, speaking as a person on the same side while watching the idiots on our team giving the enemy ammunition, would not be a bad thing – AT ALL.
Domestic DC battles are to billions what multinational UniParty battles are to trillions. Alabama is bigger than McConnell or Bannon. Alabama is now as much about NAFTA, China, renegotiated trade deals, geopolitical alliances and Saudi Arabia, and the trillions swirling around via multinational corporate interests.
The swamp is engaged, self-aware and the deep-state part is self actuated now. Instructions are no longer needed. Each cell can operate independently to protect itself from any confrontation. Thus the arguments are bigger; every angle is weighed as does it improve position, or does it weaken position… way-points are transparent. Globalists don’t need to give direction in feet or inches, the battle is much bigger, more broad – the decisions are about “generalized direction”.
Example: NAFTA Round #5 (Mexico) begins this week: “lest trade disputes create friction with NAFTA-supporting Republican lawmakers.”
Example: “Republicans” control all senate hearings:
Example: Remember when the Senate voted unanimously to block President Trump from making recess appointments? That rule required “unanimity”, a single Republican senator could block the Senate from handcuffing President Trump. Not a single Republican broke ranks.
The professional political class in DC, the UniParty, is not confronting Steve Bannon though he’d probably like to make money off that outlook. The united political apparatus is confronting something far more consequential than the annoyance that Bannon represents; they are confronting the framework of ‘America First’.
That bigger dynamic is what’s adverse to their interests. Bannon is an annoying gnat.
When you accept that difference you are then prepared to ask yourself the question(s):
♦What would/will the professional apparatus do to protect their interests?
♦How far are they willing to go to oppose anything that appears adverse to those interests?
“Christmas Yearbooks”?
Written in two sets of handwriting?
Using two different inks?
Uh huh.
Go read about a republican operative named Harvey Leroy “Lee” Atwater, and how he trained a young protege’ named Karl Christian Rove in political warfare against other republicans.
Remember, from the Uniparty’s perspective they have nothing to lose in Alabama by getting caught making crap up. They were going to lose the race anyway…. so why not pull out the black arts. It’s simply how they roll.
ps. Friends in Alabama, you must fight like an insurgency.
This was so predictable. People decided not to listen to Trump and here we are

And the move to have the state GOP nullify Moores candidacy, thereby disenfranchised the voters who want him, is very much akin to the delegate crap they pulled in the primaries…”The party selects, the voters elect”, i.e., we peon voters only get to vote on the pre-selected swampy candidates that the unitparty gives us. So we end up with no representation at all.

I can’t read 700+ comments, so if this has already been covered I apologize in advance.
OK, Bannon backs Kelli Ward against Flake, then Bannon operatives who had joined her campaign got a close look at her and quit, saying she is not the Trumpster she makes herself out to be, Flake quits, and now Arizona gets … what? PDJT endorses Strange in Alabama (a Republican who could get elected, recall Reagan) over Moore, whom Bannon backs. Moore wins, Bannonite backers briefly celebrate, but then Moore backers get blindsided by the sex scandal stuff.
Mr. Bannon doesn’t seem to be doing so well as a political advisor, backing lame horses. Did PDJT know what was coming?
Why would anyone who claims to be a Trumpster back another candidate AGAINST the candidate Trump endorsed and held a rally for? People keep crashing their political planes into the side of Trump Mountain. No one learns, even some of us who claim to support Trump.
LikeLiked by 1 person
My guess? Luther Strange was McConnell’s man, would have voted as McConnell wanted once he had secured his six year term. President Trump could not not endorse a sitting senator who had voted (with permission from McConnnell I bet) 100% for Trump policies.
Republican senators have a history of running one way and voting another — see John McCain who ran on repealing and replacing ObamaCare in Nov. 2016 and then in 2017 was one of the four votes AGAINST repealing and replacing ObamaCare.

Do you honestly not think that Strange wouldn’t have been put thru the ringer if he had gotten the nomination? In his case by the left. But as it looks like what’s happening to Moore was done at least in part by GOPe, how does that make Bannon the villian? And as far as who Trump has endorsed, he hasn’t always backed the right candidate (e.g. McCain).

Limbaugh knows it is bigger, but his statement that it is also McConnell versus Bannon is correct. They are not mutually exclusive. The author wishes to outdo Rush as a goal in this writing. People can have good motives and still make money. How gratuitous to also trash Bannon & Ingraham as profiteers, indicating jealousy. This site is largely an ego trip.

If you concede that a mere accusation is sufficient in deciding how you regard Judge Moore, then you are conceding that Mob rule takes precedent over our established concept of Justice. The “golden thread” of “Innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt” is lost. The Judicial outcome matrix, intentionally weighted to ensure that INNOCENT persons are not punished.. even at the expense of letting some guilty people walk free, is turned on it’s head.
You have abandoned the principle that the ONUS is on the Prosecution (accuser) to prove a case. You are in the realm of “GUILTY.. Unless you can prove your innocence”. Which is fraught with danger, since “proving a negative” can often be impossible.
And you can FORGET the 5th amendment!!! The right to remain silent is GONE.. if you insist that accused people MUST prove themselves innocent.. or be regarded as guilty
The fundamental principles of British (US) justice are being abandoned. It is a ploy to claim that somehow the fundamental principles of “Justice” only apply in the formal setting of a court. The system of justice is supposed to apply across society.

Senate cannot legally refuse to seat Moore if he wins – decided in a SCOTUS case in 1969:
“Both houses of the United States Congress have refused to seat new members based on Article I, Section 5 of the United States Constitution which states that, “Each House shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members, and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the attendance of absent members, in such manner, and under such penalties as each House may provide.” This had been interpreted that members of the House of Representatives and of the Senate could refuse to recognize the election or appointment of a new representative or senator for any reason, often political heterodoxy or criminal record. Powell v. McCormack (1969) limited the powers of the Congress to refuse to seat an elected member to when the individual does not meet the specific constitutional requirements of age, citizenship or residency. From the decision by Chief Justice Earl Warren: “Therefore, we hold that, since Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., was duly elected by the voters of the 18th Congressional District of New York and was not ineligible to serve under any provision of the Constitution, the House was without power to exclude him from its membership.”
The Federal Contested Elections Act of 1969 currently lays out the procedures by which each House determines contested elections.”

Maintain his innocence.
Point out this is what was done to Herman Cain, Donald Trump and to some extent Jack Ryan (and also that Sen from LA whose wife put the kabash on the dirty trick).
Ask Alabamans to support him, to not be cheated out of their vote
AND
If he wins, he will pursue this by making those who accused him, including the Washington Post, PROVE their accusations in a court of law
That he will launch a multi milion dollar law suit against the Post, the money to be donated he wins if he wins to be donated to charity
Ask that every American join with him in stopping these elections by slander

Luther Strange’s campaign tried and failed to confirm Roy Moore allegations
“About six or seven months ago, Sen. Luther Strange’s campaign heard that Roy Moore “liked to chase women around the courthouse,” according to two Alabama Republican sources.
At the time, Moore faced a three-way Republican primary against Strange and Rep. Mo Brooks. In a tight race, it was clear the rumor could prove politically lethal.
“We did a lot of research. We tried and tried and tried,” one source said. “I think if we were able to find the names out, we probably would have passed it along to a reporter to track down … We just weren’t able.”
The second source said the campaign “was never able to get any solid information or leads or corroboration. Just like many people in Alabama, we heard a rumor.”

Back in my college days (the immediate years after Watergate), I was given the volunteer job of writing scripts for the 10-watt station newscast, and copies of the St. Louis Dispatch were furnished me so I could crib from the articles to furnish the show news copy. I noticed for the first time how many national stories were headlining news based on nothing more than anonymous sources. So I put in the scripts that literally stated there were rumors of such-and-such news item happening, because I figured it wasn’t really confirmed if no one was willing to come out on record on it. Frankly I’d do the same to wire copy today in hopes local audiences would catch on to just how little substance there is to this kind of so-called news.

Salem witch trials are what we have here: the evil thugs of rumor and innuendo should not rule the day on any serious matter. We should turn our backs on these villains.
