Back in 2013 and 2014 we shared the story of a man returning to Florida was stopped by police in Maryland who asked him for his firearm. When the Floridian asked the Maryland police how they knew he owned a firearm, things got sketchy. {Go Deep} The event kicked off a constitutional discussion.
A few years later in 2015 the Wall Street Journal reported on a national federal database that was using Automatic License Plate Readers (APLRs) to capture and store the travel of millions of Americans {SOURCE}.
Now we fast-forward a decade and that federal database is now being exploited by local police around the nation to keep track of ordinary persons of interest to their community who travel outside their jurisdiction. This is where the Flock Cameras come into the discussion. WATCH:

A long time ago, in days of youth and with a fascination about James Bond movies with Russian themes , I had a desire to visit Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Little did I realize that all I had to do was wait a few decades and Soviet style government control would come to me instead.

Recently it was revealed that those behind ai were buying thousands of old books around Europe.
They then split them down the spine , seperate the pages and electronically read and store the information.
After that the books are useless so they are burned or go to land fill.
Just last week a long standing book shop Kenny’s in Galway city in Ireland got suspicious with an order for 3000 books dealing with every possible record of local history.

i use one of those privacy screens for laptops. the ones that you can’t see the screen at an angle. and then place a license plate protector (plastic plate covering) over that. all available on amazon
The plate frames and plate covers are illegal in PA. PA ditched the plate validation sticker at the end of 2016. A plate with a new design and color scheme started to replace the previous plate (which has been in service for around 25 years) last year, it is hideous but “scanner friendly”. The Commonwealth is contemplating the move to issue 2 plates per vehicle (currently one of 19 states that issue 1 plate). In the area were I live, the 3 major municipalities (Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton) have an ordinance in place that prohibits backing – in parking at all lots and decks administered by their respective parking enforcement agencies. The reason for that is obvious.

Law enforcement can make good use of license plate information. No one could seriously question the propriety, maybe the cost, of hiring 500 people to sit around a city and take photos of cars as they pass by on public roads and spaces. At the end of the day, these photo would takers turn their photos over to the police. Then the complexity of storing and sorting all those photos would be another uge manpower drain. Would people be attacking Nikon, Canon and other companies who made the cameras thus used?
License plate readers like those made by Flock, and there are also other companies doing this, merely make the process of gathering, storing and sorting the data much more efficient and affordable. Flock doesn’t own the data. They don’t decide how it’s used. They don’t decide how or if it is shared with other police departments. Flock may provide software for the PD’s to use. Flock merely provides an extremely efficient tool to law enforcement. How their customers use or abuse it is beyond their control.
Flock is in the business of making YOU their product that they sell. They catalog your vehicle’s “fingerprint” that will identify it with or without the plate. If, at any time in the future you become an undesirable for any reason (say maybe someone in law enforcement has a grudge against you or yours) this data will be available to find fault in your activities. If the police need that data so badly they ought to have to get a judge to sign off on going out to get it.
This isn’t just a vendor filing a need.
Or a means to keep you within your boundaries or across state lines if, for example you didn’t get the shot.
Thomas Jefferson stated the problem rather distinctly long before cameras were even invented:

Am I the only one who has noticed how coordinated and organized all the anti-Flock messaging has seemed recently? And trials show that they work, they generate arrests, including murderers. Democrats mainly objected because the technology was catching too many criminals of a certain color. @trust – If you have an “essential liberty” to be anonymous to law enforcement in your movements down the public roads, then why is there a numbered plate on your vehicle?
But if you are driving down a public road with a license plate tagging your car, then your movements are already public knowledge that can be correlated to your identity. Effectively this technology is no different from a sharp eyed witness who is able to describe the vehicle at the scene of a crime. Such witnesses can be the difference between death and life. If someone you loved were a kidnap victim would you spew out that Ben Franklin quote and throw away the unholy footage of the license plate from the car that nabbed her? I think not.

If you go back to the beginnings of the “horseless carriage” the need for a numbered tag was simply to show proof that a personal property excise tax was paid for that year. Animal owners had to pay an excise tax on each large animal in their barn, so it carried over to the carriage that no longer required the horse. From there it has morphed into numbered plates, drivers licenses, and a registration data base of that information housed in a new department full of bureaucrats forever finding new ways to weaponize that information against you.

This technology is not a game changer in rural communities because people there can’t just blend into a crowd and disappear. Still I am not disturbed by the technology in the least. This fearmongering video proves that there is a robust audit trail which even a corrupt police department would have no capability of deleting. The audit worked and brought them into public shame. Now their state lawmakers obviously need to make police require a warrant before accessing the database.
Sorry, but human nature appears to trump “good intentions” (obtaining a warrant) 9 out of 10 times. Police officers are human. They have a lot of frailities. They can “stretch the truth” and even straight out lie to obtain the results THEY want (like the issuance of a warrant). Until you’ve been falsely accused AND convicted of a crime due to perjured testimony you won’t understand. It’s beyond horrific. So all this harping about “law and order” really does need to be weighed alongside your God-given right to be free from governmental intrusion. Less government. More better. Ben Franklin had it 100% correct 250 years ago (see, quote above) and the passage of time has NOT diluted its reasoning.
Oh I have no doubt that warrants could be skipped or lied into existence and that already has happened. Then the robust audit trail comes crashing down on them and justice is served. Judges don’t appeciate being lied to, even those no good Obama activist-in-robe judges. And that is not hypothetical, it has already happened. So it’s a win in the end, as it results in a corrupt cop out of the role they didn’t deserve.
But if you are right and there is no way to get justice in American courts? Then America has way bigger problems than mentioned in this article and deserves an insurrection. And I will concede one point: Yes, your armed uprising will be harder to start with License Plate Reading poles. But anyone who can conceal their identity with an Indian headdress to throw tea into the harbor can probably figure out a way to take down a pole on their way there. There are much more pervasive forms of surveillance than Flock, with poorer transparency and auditing, like the hundreds of Amazon/Ring cameras filming you on your commute. Another reason why all this recent anti-Flock messaging feels so targetted and inorganic.

While Rogers traveled to Trump Tower without notifying his superior, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, investigations confirm he did not disclose the political surveillance conducted via the NSA database between November 2015 and April 2016.
Meeting Purpose and Outcome.
The primary result of the visit was Rogers recommending (for untold reason)
that the Trump transition team move its operations from Trump Tower to a more secure venue, leading to the relocation to Bedminster, New Jersey.
Some sources initially speculated Rogers briefed Trump on the spying, but later analysis clarifies that no such briefing on the database abuse occurred due to legal and contractual restrictions on sharing classified intelligence with a private citizen.
Timeline of Discovery. Rogers had previously ordered an audit of the searches in April 2016 and formally notified the FISA Court of the violations on October 26, 2016.
Despite discovering that FBI contractors had accessed raw data for political purposes, Rogers kept this specific finding separate from his discussions with the President-elect.

I will never be in so much danger as when I am surrounded by people claiming authority who feel the need to do things for my own safety.
A friend is an IT guru, and he has frequently reminded me that with every emergent technology application, the “bad guys” frequently remain a step ahead of the legitimate users and regulators in corrupting it for their benefit.
