Reports are now surfacing that ISIS has an advantage formerly and exclusively held by Western military – night vision and laser targeting technology. Gee, I wonder where ISIS would have acquired such tactical advantage?(Reuters) – Islamic State raised its flag on a building on the outskirts of the Syrian frontier town of Kobani on Monday after an assault of almost three weeks, but the town’s Kurdish defenders said its fighters had not reached the city centre.
A black flag belonging to Islamic State was visible from across the Turkish border atop a four-storey building close to the scene of some of the most intense clashes in recent days.
The radical al Qaeda offshoot has been battling to seize the predominantly Kurdish town after taking over large swathes of territory in northern Syria and Iraq in recent months.
Air strikes by American and Gulf state warplanes have failed to halt its advance on Kobani, which it has besieged from three sides and pounded with heavy artillery. (more…)
The more the Ebola crisis is attached to President Obama, the more likely he then becomes to lift a finger and do something about it. Hence, the best thing we can do to insure someone in government takes this as seriously as the general public does – is to firmly attach the concern to the Obama administration.
(CNN) — A second Ebola patient to be treated at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha will arrive there early Monday morning, the center said in a statement. The patient is believed to be an American freelance cameraman who worked for NBC.
Ashoka Mukpo was diagnosed with Ebola on Thursday. He left Liberia on a specially-equipped plane Sunday and was headed to Nebraska, the network reported.
Upon arrival, the patient will be immediately taken to a remote part of the airport away from passenger areas, where an ambulance will wait for transport to the hospital. (more…)

FERGUSON – Activists crowded into a Missouri church Sunday to demand the arrest of the white police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black 18-year-old in August, sparking weeks of protest and a national debate on policing and race. “We’re calling for the immediate arrest of Officer Darren Wilson,” said Rev. Carlton Lee, the pastor of the Flood Christian Church in Country Club Hills, Missouri, a community adjacent to the city of Ferguson, where Michael Brown was shot dead on Aug. 9.
Brown’s parents, who did not speak at the 3:30 p.m. ET event, stood solemnly behind Rev. Lee. The slain teen’s father, Michael Brown Sr., wore a t-shirt that said “Arrest Him Now” above a photo of Wilson.
Rev. Lee said officials should “bypass” a grand jury that is reviewing evidence in the shooting death of Brown, and instead immediately charge Wilson in Brown’s death. Anthony Gray, the Brown family attorney, stressed that the activists calling for Wilson’s arrest were not “anti-police,” and that they merely wanted to see justice served for Brown’s surviving relatives. WASHINGTON DC – As a lengthy record of U.S. Secret Service security lapses has been exposed, skepticism of the agency among African-Americans is growing, with an increasing number of blacks believing that agents who are supposed to be protecting President Barack Obama are deliberately dropping the ball. The latest scandal to plague the agency was reported on Friday, and involved a man who posed as a member of Congress and got close to the president while he delivered a speech.
“It is something that is widespread in black circles,” U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, D-Mo., who is black, told the New York Times. “I’ve been hearing this for some time: ‘Well, the Secret Service, they’re trying to expose the president.’ You hear a lot of that from African-Americans in particular.”
