Bev Turner Notes the Social Changes Created by COVID That Have Seemingly Become Permanent

Filling in for Neil Oliver this week, GB News host Bev Turner delivers a monologue taking a look at the COVID changes that have seemingly become a permanent change.

From remote working to interactions with electronic apps and digital screens instead of people, Turner gives examples of things that changed in the COVID era that never went back to the normal position after the COVID mitigation was ended.

From self-checkout to restaurants using menu apps for the customers to do all the ordering themselves, to plexiglass cubicles, the human connection has been frayed.  Mrs. Turner makes some good points that are well worth considering.  Will the free market bring back these lost connections, or are they gone forever?  WATCH:

.

Whenever anyone tries to get me to use a self-checkout, I politely say no thank you and remind the lanyard wearing robot “I have done my part; the rest is up to you if you want to keep my business.”   I have never experienced a restaurant where I had to order everything myself; from my perspective that would be akin to sitting in front of a vending machine, and I simply wouldn’t go there.  But that’s me.

How do you feel about some of these COVID changes described?

Federal Court Mail-in Ballot Ruling in Unrelated Election May Impact Tight PA Primary Senate Race

A recent appeals court ruling, unrelated to the current year ballot counting, may have an impact within the close Pennsylvania senate primary race between David McCormick and Mehmet Oz.  Currently Mehmet Oz is ahead by around 1,000 votes [NYT LINK]

The court ruled that mail-in ballots without a date on the envelope may be counted in the prior election.

“The three-judge panel’s judgment said the state election law’s requirement of a date next to the voter’s signature on the outside of return envelopes was “immaterial.” They said they found no reason to refuse counting the ballots that were set aside in the Nov. 2, 2021, election for common pleas judge in Lehigh County.

This ruling happens as the current mail-in ballots in PA are being counted.  McCormick is slightly winning the mail-in ballot count, so his team quickly sent the ruling out to all Pennsylvania voting districts.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A federal court ruled Friday that mail-in ballots without a required date on the return envelope must be allowed in a 2021 Pennsylvania county judge race, a decision that could complicate the ongoing process of vote counting in the state’s neck-and-neck U.S. Senate Republican primary.

Elections officials, lawyers and candidates are scrambling to understand and respond to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision, which was issued late in the day without a written opinion laying out its rationale.

Australia Election – COVID Knucklehead Scott Morrison Out, Climate Change Knucklehead Anthony Albanese In

After allowing the various state premiers to brutalize the citizens in each of the states with catastrophic COVID restrictions, mandates and compliance regulations, the conservative Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, has lost his feeble attempt to win reelection.

Australia has replaced Morrison with Labour party candidate Anthony Albanese.  The COVID dictator is out, and the Climate-Change dictator is now installed.  Good luck Australia.

(Via MSM)  […] “We hand over this country as a government in a stronger position than when we inherited it when we came to government (in 2013),” Morrison told a gathering of Liberal supporters in Sydney late Saturday night.  He said it had been a “privilege to lead this great party and lead this great nation” but that he, as leader, would “take responsibility for the wins and the losses”.

“As a result I will be handing over the leadership at the next party room meeting, to ensure that the party can be taken forward under new leadership,” he said.

“It’s a night of disappointment … but it’s also a time for coalition members and supporters all across the country to hold their heads high. We have been a strong government. We have been a good government. Australia is stronger as a result of our efforts over these last three terms.”  (read more)

Record Early Voting in Georgia as Major Primary Race Takes Place Next Week

The early voting in Georgia is breaking all state records.  According to the GA secretary of state office statement yesterday, “through Wednesday, May 19th, over 565,000 people have early voted in Georgia—a 189% increase from the same point in the early voting period in the 2018 primary election and a 153% increase in the same point in the early voting period in the 2020 primary election.  This represents a voting scale 3x the rate of the 2018 mid-term election.

Obviously, Georgia voters are enthusiastic to vote in this primary.  The GA SoS reports party votes as, “Republican: 353,161, Democrat: 258,200, Nonpartisan: 4,017” through May 18th.  Yes, republican voters are far outpacing democrat early voters, but that shouldn’t be too surprising given the top of the ticket on the Democrat ballot is an uncontested primary race to install Stacey Abrams as the 2022 Democrat governor candidate.

Despite being in an uncontested race, the team behind Stacey Abrams is working hard to drive out their voter base.  As the Washington Post noted, Abram’s group ‘The New Georgia Project’, is working diligently to help Georgia Democrats make the right ballot selections.  Additionally, another allied group called ‘Black Voters Matter’, is using the ‘Souls to the Polls‘ strategy to make sure black voters get the primary outcome that matters most to them.

Against all of this extra emphasis on early voting success in Georgia there is a weird dynamic on the Republican side of the equation.  According to most general reporting from the media, there is a lot of enthusiasm on the GOP ballot to keep Brian Kemp as governor; however, oddly enough, it seems like Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is being positioned for defeat.  At least that’s the perspective of Politico and other similarly minded media.

Devin Nunes Reacts to Court Testimony that Hillary Clinton Approved Pushing Trump-Russia Collusion Fraud to Media

At least in the DC sphere, Devin Nunes was one of the first politicians to point out that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was behind a coordinated effort to manufacture the Trump-Russia collusion story as an election strategy.

Yesterday, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, testifying in the Sussmann trial, admitted that part of the effort involved creating and pushing the false Alfa-Bank story, where data servers in Trump Tower were communicating with Russia and the Trump campaign.  Mook admitted to having discussions with the campaign leadership about pushing the fraudulent story, and Hillary Clinton approving the strategy.

While none of the statements/admissions by Robby Mook was new information for readers here, Devin Nunes reacts to the first public admission by the Clinton campaign manager. {Direct Rumble Link} WATCH:

May 21st – 2022 Presidential Politics – Resistance Day 487

In an effort to keep the Daily Open Thread a little more open topic we are going to start a new daily thread for “Presidential Politics”. Please use this thread to post anything relating to the JoeBama Administration and Presidency.

“This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.”

“But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.”

~ Mike Vanderboegh

This thread will refresh daily and appear above the Open Discussion Thread.

Federal Judge Blocks Biden Administration from Lifting Title 42 Immigration Control, DOJ Will Appeal

A federal district court judge in Louisiana has blocked the Biden administration from lifting the CDC Title-42 restriction at the southern U.S. border.

The Title-42 rule blocks illegal aliens based on the COVID pandemic threat.  The CDC wants to lift that order allowing an additional surge of illegal aliens to cross the border.

WASHINGTON – […] The pandemic-related health order, which was implemented in March 2020 to control the spread of Covid, was set to expire on Monday. The measure gave the U.S. the authority to immediately expel asylum seekers without a legal process, and Friday’s ruling means an even longer waiting time for migrants seeking refuge in the United States.

Louisiana U.S. District Judge Robert R. Summerhays, an appointee of former President Donald Trump, ruled that the restrictions must stay in place until a lawsuit by 24 states, led by Arizona, Louisiana and Missouri, is resolved in the courts. In the April 3 lawsuit, filed after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced plans to lift the public health order, the states argued the policy needed to remain to avoid “wave of illegal migration and drug trafficking.” (read more)

The White House announced the DOJ will immediately appeal Summerhays’ decision. However, it’s unlikely the restrictions will be lifted by Monday as previously planned by the CDC.

Elon Musk Announces Intent to Assemble Litigation Department of Hardcore Streetfighters, Saying “There Will Be Blood”

In a series of tweets today, Elon Musk, the Tesla/SpaceX CEO, world’s richest man and tech billionaire who recently announced he is voting republican, announced his intent to set up what he calls a “hardcore litigation department” filled with “hardcore streetfighters” because “there will be blood”:

This announcement is bookended by Elon Musk’s deal to purchase the Twitter social media platform, a resistant internal company ideological adversary, and a warning from the political left with Business Insider publishing an alleged sexual misconduct story.  Indeed, it does appear that Elon Musk is preparing for a war that will likely include the Fourth Branch of Government as an adversary.

Additionally, Elon Musk is drawing attention to the corruption in the 2016 election by spotlighting the trial of Hillary Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann.  Mr. Musk notes in his remarks that discovering the Trump-Russia collusion story was a hoax put together by the Clinton campaign, media and allies in government, “makes you wonder what else is fake.”
