Dear Leader Roundup…. on All Hail POTUS Day !

dear leaderChris Matthews says President Obama’s inaugural address comparable to Abraham Lincoln.   Time magazine says Obama talks in terms too complex for the ordinary earthly person to understand.   The Congressional Black Caucus says Obama is fulfilling the Martin Luther King legacy with Obamacare as an example.    NBC’s Brian Williams says Michelle Obama is the most fascinating woman since Jackie Kennedy.

President Obama’s campaign director, David Plouffe, says that Washington, and this nation, is not worthy of a man as great as Barack Obama and the opportunity he presents.  Newsweek has declared President Obama as the second coming of Jesus Christ.

But the most profound, reflective and ironic statement can be found right here in The Last Refuge;  As Sharon reflects upon the inaugural poster of President Obama “The Prophecy Fulfilled“: (more…)

Help Hide The Selfish – New York Bus Drivers On Strike, But Notice The Media Isn’t Covering

Last week the New York unionized School Bus Drivers went on strike. The city currently pays an average of $6,900 per student for transportation. Yes, that’s right, $6,900.00 per student, a rate that is totally unsustainable.

So the city wants to put the bus contract up for bid. The drivers are beside themselves because their employment will not be guaranteed by the next contract bidder(s).

undefinedNEW YORK [excerpt] – […] The nationwide attention that strikes, rooted in very local fights, tend to receive now is another indication of how unions have weakened in recent decades. “It’s sad that it’s seen as a novelty,” says Zev Eigen, associate professor of law at Northwestern University.

It also means that unions have to pick their fights carefully, he says, because public sympathy will go down if a strike is not tied to a substantial issue of fairness.

At the heart of the bus strike is a dispute over the bidding process for a bus contract to replace one due to expire in June.

The school district currently spends an average of $6,900 per year for each bused student, more than double the cost of the next most expensive district of Los Angeles. (more…)

Prog Blackmail: Dems Say – Give Us More Taxes Or We Won’t Put Forth A Budget…..

Imagine the media response if George Bush had openly said he would break the law if he did not get his way.  Both the White House, through David Plouffe, and the Senate, through Chuck Schumer, are saying exactly the same thing:  Raise taxes, or we will operate without a budget.

WASHINGTON DC – Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said the U.S. Senate will only fulfill its legal obligation to pass a budget if the budget, which has not been passed since 2009, includes new tax increases.

Chuck Schumer close up

“We need a budget,” Schumer conceded on Meet the Press.  “It’s a great opportunity to get us some more revenues to help in part deal with sequestration and deal with the debt issue . . . We’re going to do a budget this year and it’s going to have revenues in it and our Republican colleagues better get used to that fact.” (more…)

True Intentions – NY Lawmaker Shares The Agenda The Dems Did Not Want Exposed….

(Via WeaselZippers) Republican NY State Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin released the above video showing an attempt by his Democratic opponents in the Assembly to keep a list of their gun control proposals secret, once they had decided on the bill passed in NY this past week.

The list shows how far they are willing to go, even onto confiscation of some guns, as well as continuing the demonization of legitimate law-abiding gun owners.

Here is McLaughlin’s Facebook post with the list that the Democrats were trying to supress: (more…)

Seriously Dofuses? – Time Warner Bans Semi-Auto Gun Advertisments – What About The Programming Content?

updateUpdate:  A Gun Store in North Carolina who has paid for advertising, and is now having their commercials pulled, shares this story:

[…]  In a statement, the cable provider said, “Time Warner Cable has policies in place that govern the kind of advertising we accept. Under that policy, we no longer accept ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people. We stand by this policy. If it’s essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace.”

When we asked if the cable provider would also ban similar programming, TWC said no.

“Viewers make a conscious choice to watch particular TV programs and movies, and tools like TV and movie ratings and the parental control features of our Digital TV service help consumers make informed viewing choices for their families,” a TWC spokesman said in an e-mail to WWAY. “Consumers don’t choose the advertising that airs during a particular show, so it’s appropriate for us to have a policy.”  (link)

Follow the prog logic….. Um, the TV watcher has control over the remote during the show, but not during the commercials. (more…)

Thuggin’ It – New Orleans Former Mayor Ray Nagin Indicted On 21 Corruption Charges, Bribery, Fraud…..

This was brutally obvious years ago, but finally the Chickens are Coming Home To Roost….  Typical Dem.   Don’t look for the media to be too forthcoming with this story.

NEW ORLEANS — Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on charges that he used his office for personal gain, accepting payoffs, free trips and gratuities from contractors while the city was struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

The charges against Nagin are the outgrowth of a City Hall corruption investigation that already has resulted in guilty pleas by two former city officials and two businessmen and a prison sentence for a former city vendor.

The federal indictment accuses Nagin of accepting more than $160,000 in bribes and truckloads of free granite for his family business in exchange for promoting the interests of a local businessman who secured millions of dollars in city contract work after the 2005 hurricane. The businessman, Frank Fradella, pleaded guilty in June to conspiracy to commit bribery and has been cooperating with federal authorities. (more…)
