Austin Police Chief Apologizes For His Comments About Arresting J-Walking Jogger: Hey, I’m Just Thankful We Didn’t Rape Her…

In Austin Texas a woman was jogging.  Police claim she J-walked while jogging so they forcibly stopped her, handcuffed her and demanded id.

She did not have id in her skimpy jogging outfit, so they arrested her for “failure to identify”.

The Texas cops put her in a police car, took her to jail, booked her, mug shot, finger-prints etc., for J-walking and jogging without identification.

A guy across the street saw the whole thing and thought it was ridiculous.  He recorded the incident and took pictures.

Then the general public began using social media to express their outrage.

Unfazed by the action of his police officers, and profoundly unapologetic, the Austin Police Chief, Art Acevedo, told the media the jogger should be grateful the Austin Police Dept didn’t rape her.

Ukraine – The Other Side of The Story – Lawless Bands of Ukrainian “Opposition” With Occupy Similarities….

As with all of the political turmoil present within nations, including our own, there are alignments of self-interest which need to be identified.    For a close to home reference you might think about the differences between the “establishment class” of Republicans and the “grassroots conservatives” who also situate under the same tent.

We who value “freedom” and cherish “liberty” would no more consider Mitch McConnell a champion of our cause than Barack Obama.  Nor would we align with “establishment” principles – yet, from the outside looking in, it would be easy to define us with ideological attachment to Republicans simply by our association.

It would be easy, yet it would be vastly inaccurate.   Such is the larger dynamic as we look toward Ukraine and what is taking place.

“Freedom” and “Liberty” are tenuous propositions under the best of circumstances because they ultimately are defined by people.   People with a vested interest in controlling the expressions thereof.

With that in mind a thoughtful contributor, with direct attachment to Ukrainian heritage, has provided us with a larger perspective to consider:

Protester-Yulia

Things are being presented in the Western media a particular way, I don’t quite understand why.

People are not hearing anything about the normal ethnic Ukrainians across the country that are being stopped if their cars are too nice by groups of protesters in the roads with baseball bats.

The people get searched, cars searched, and told “it’s the law of the revolution” when asked what give the protesters the right to do take people’s property.  We’re not hearing how the protesters and low information supporters have burned out police stations and told the police “we no longer need you”.

They have burned all records in some of the police stations so you can’t tell why people are locked up.  The useful idiots are destroying the country’s civilized infrastructure.

It is exactly what occupy wall street wanted/wants to do here. (more…)

Here Come The Real Red Lines – Russia Denounces Events: “the new government in Kyiv is illegitimate” – Kremlin Begins Arming “Ukrainian Front” in Eastern City of Kharkiv ….

If The Feb 21 agreement is not upheld….  Prepare for our war Kharkiv comrades….  the girly man in America will do nothing…

(Via XX Committee)  Things are moving very fast in Ukraine today. President Yanukovych, after the bloodbath this week on the streets of Kyiv, has been thrown out of office by the parliament. The country is in turmoil, and in the east, centered on Kharkiv, the Moscow-backed Ukrainian Front, that I informed you of three weeks ago, is arming the population and preparing for civil war.

putin4And now the Russian Foreign Ministry has made its position clear in a new press release on its website – the new government in Kyiv is illegitimate and it’s the West’s fault.

This is a remarkably rough diplomatic message.

It cannot be construed as anything less than a threat to an independent Ukraine.

Ukraine citizens were never allowed to see the home of their president, until today…..

(Via Weaselzippers)  We’ve heard a lot about how protesters were upset with President Yanukovych’s choice to align with Russia rather than the EU. But there also was a lot of upset with regard to the perceived corruption in the Yanukovych administration.

“Foiled Again” !! FCC Pravda Plan Rebuked – FCC Cancels Plans To Question News Organizations

The FCC claims on second thought it “may not have been appropriate” to question the media and monitor newsrooms.   Gee, ya think ?

WASHINGTON DC – The Federal Communications Commission announced Friday that it was putting on hold a controversial study of American newsrooms, after complaints from Republican lawmakers and media groups that the project was too intrusive.

The Aftermath Of The Zimmerman Persecution Continues – Ben Kruidbos Lawsuit Against Angela Corey and Her Responses (Updated pdf Court Filings Attached)

This expose’ goes deep in the woods on the Zimmerman case back- story of malicious prosecution.

Ben kribidbosAngela Corey 1

However, in order to understand what’s going on, as well as what’s at stake, here is a not-so-brief summary and then full outline.

Tray thumb 1Summary: During the pre-trial events leading up to the State of Florida v. George Zimmerman an intentional manipulation of evidence was discovered.

In essence Trayvon Martin’s cell phone contained information which was not given to the defense team, a clear Brady violation surrounding the rules of open trial discovery. Some of the data on the phone was very damaging to the false presentation of Trayvon Martin’s background.

The data included text conversations between Trayvon and his Dad, Tracy (aka “Fruit”), about buying guns. Some data included pictures of Trayvon Martin smoking marijuana and posing with handguns.

There were many pictures on the phone which the State of Florida did not want the defense team to know, and, more importantly for their claims, they did not want to public to witness.  All of the data was in opposition to the narrative of the State and the Martin family, around Trayvon; and much of it was viewed by them as a risk. Consequently the State of Florida wanted the information hidden from the defense.

However, a man named Ben Kruidbos (pronounced “cried-boss”) was in charge of Information Technology within the State Attorney’s office. He became aware of the State attorney, Angela Corey, and her prosecutors (pictured below), intentionally keeping the information from the defense team during pre-trial discovery. Fearful for his own position if he did nothing Kruidbos retained outside advice and representation from a former legal colleague, Wes White.

Eventually, through a series of tenuous 3rd party contacts with the defense team, the issue of the State intentionally hiding information came to the court and trial Judge, Debra Nelson.

However, Nelson did not want to deal with the Brady violation and possible judicial sanctions for the behavior before the trial. Nelson wanted the trial to begin quickly.

So Nelson delayed any sanctions hearing until after trial. That post-trial hearing has still not taken place.

As a result of Ben Kruidbos revealing the information the FL State 4th District Attorney, Angela Corey, fired him on the last day of trial – just before closing arguments. Subsequently Kruidbos filed a lawsuit for wrongful termination. That lawsuit is soon to be heard in court. Below is the amended complaint, filed by Kruidbos against Angela Corey, and her latest response.

*It is worth noting in the Corey response she is claiming the information on the Trayvon Martin cell phone was not, according to her, discovery evidence she was required to turn over.

Corey is claiming the pictures and cell phone data were attorney “work product“, and therefore she was under no obligation to divulge it – consequently she is claiming the data is not Brady material. Even a first year law student would admit this “claim” will not pass muster in a sanctions hearing. The state cannot selectively hide information pre-trial just because parts of it would negatively impact their position, the defendant has every right to see all of the evidence in the case – especially evidence which *might* be used in his defense.

First, here is the updated complaint by Kruidbos: (more…)
