[Warner Bros. Distribution President Dan Fellman] joyfully recounted the phone call he placed to Eastwood last weekend, when he said “Clint, this is your biggest [opening] weekend ever.”
How’d he respond? “He’s the coolest dude on the planet, you know,” Fellman said. “He said, ‘Gee, man, that’s great.'”
Warner Bros. has been in business with Eastwood for many years, Fellman added — but “this kind of thing certainly required a phone call to the house.”

Coast to coast movie theaters continue to be filled with enthusiastic patriots willingly forking over their hard earned money to see a movie fraught with patriotic sentiment.  The crowds are so large the professionally liberal are now retreating from their earlier antagonistic positions.
Heading into week #2 American Sniper continues to draw massive audiences and there’s still 10 days left to rack up even more records for a movie that has already blown out previous January records for box office releases.
VARIETY – After a record-breaking wide-release debut over the Martin Luther King holiday, “American Sniper” will loom large at the box office for the second weekend in a row.
Analysts didn’t see Clint Eastwood’s look at the life of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle coming, so it’s hard to figure out just how massive the film will continue to be now that it faces off against new projects from Jennifer Lopez and Johnny Depp. (more…)

You see, Eastwood made a film where the American military man is a strong, masculine, good guy, not an ironic, sniffling, paste-bucket. The Box Office Records are being obliterated so fast the predictions of the Hollywood types are having to be revised upward by the hour – and the progressive Left is apoplectic in rage.

With the movie “Selma” seemingly shut out from Oscar Nominations -except best picture- the Reverend Al Sharpton has an opportunity to exploit his most recent antagonism.
Many people might remember the controversy over the Sony Entertainment hacked and leaked emails which showed some tongue-in-cheek snark toward President Obama.
The presidential advisor on race issues, Al Sharpton, compared the Sony Executives to formerly labeled racist LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling; then demanded a meeting with the Hollywood executives to lay down his expectations for improvement.  They acquiesced:

WASHINGTON DC – The Obama administration on Friday imposed a wave of sanctions against members of the North Korean government, amounting to the U.S. government’s first official response to the cyber-attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Despite lingering questions from private security analysts over whether North Korea was responsible for the hack — as the FBI has alleged — the White House described the new sanctions as retaliation against Pyongyang.
“We take seriously North Korea’s attack that aimed to create destructive financial effects on a U.S. company and to threaten artists and other individuals with the goal of restricting their right to free expression,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement. “As the president has said, our response to North Korea’s attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment will be proportional, and will take place at a time and in a manner of our choosing. Today’s actions are the first aspect of our response.” (more…)

Via BUZZFEED – President Obama criticized Sony for pulling “The Interview” at his end-of-year news conference Friday.
“I think they made a mistake,” Obama said.
“We cannot have a society in which some dictator some place can start imposing censorship here in the United States,” he added.
Sony pulled “The Interview” after threats of terrorist attacks at screenings of the film. Obama contrasted the move with the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, when the city decided to continue the annual event despite the terror threat.
“We can’t start changing our patterns of behavior any more than we stop going to football games because there might be the possibility of a terrorist attack,” he said. (read more)
