The old timers said that a dry, chill wind was blowing out of the northwest, right from the heart of the Commancheria, that dawn of March 6, 1836. It ripped the palls of black smoke billowing from the old Alamo mission into ragged tendrils and hurled them away, as if trying to clear the air of the sickly sweet smell of burning flesh and the acrid stench of gunpowder. By the time the sun broke above the horizon and cast a golden light over the old mission-turned-fortress, gunshots still sporadically rent the air, but the main sound was that of an enraged mob. Pearson, a 12-year-old middle school student in Georgia, has more informed opinions than many adults. The student posted a YouTube video yesterday in which he seeks to “applaud Mayor Rudy Giuliani for his comments about President Barack Obama.” (more)

NEW YORK (AP) – “American Sniper” shot down another box-office record: Its $31.9 million is the biggest Super Bowl weekend gross ever.
According to studio estimates Sunday, the Clint Eastwood film narrowly surpassed the previous top Super Bowl weekend draw. The concert film “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour” earned $31.1 million in 2008.
Hollywood often avoids competing with the Super Bowl as movie-going falls dramatically on Sunday, but “American Sniper” has proven an unlikely sensation. It has now made $248.9 million in six weeks (and only three weeks of wide release), making it the most lucrative war movie ever released. (read more)
Keeping with the football theme this is an awesome story. Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (and David Gruber) partner for season three of itsAaron.com. This year Aaron and David are highlighting three amazing organizations who are doing big things for a lot of people. In this episode Aaron surprises four amazing kids who have lost their dads serving in the U.S. Military. Their mission is to help even more kids of fallen veterans attend Camp Hometown Heroes.
We have talked about Republican Governor (WI) Scott Walker since 2010 and the Stand With Scott campaign. For all intents and purposes Walker remains very high in favorability because of what he has actually accomplished, not what he has talked about, amid a field of GOP hopefuls.
In my humble opinion Walker is the best candidate to actually unite the GOP. Scott Walker is acceptable to conservatives, Tea Party groups, and increasingly to establishment Republicans. It is good to see him getting the recognition.
