Republican Thomas Massie Gives Voters Excellent Example of How and Why the Overton Window Moves

In a series of tweets today, Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie provides an excellent example of why and how government always grows.

The Overton Window is basically a catchphrase to explain a narrow spectrum of acceptable government policies at any given moment. As the nation evolves the window of what would be considered currently “acceptable’ moves.  In the example of the government continue to grow, the Overton Window constantly shifts toward leftist totalitarian objectives, bigger government.

The movement happens slowly – over time – but is never reversed.  Regardless of who controls power, the big government Overton Window always goes one way, one nudge at a time in one direction, toward bigger government.  People often ask, why does this continue to happen even after Republicans are elected?   Today, Thomas Massie accidentally gives us a perfect example of how and why.

When Democrats are in power, they do everything to maximize their power and minimize the influence of their Republican opposition.  However, when Republicans are in power, they do everything to minimize their power and maximize the power of their Democrat opposition, now in the minority.  Democrats in control, they maximize the Overton Window shift.  When Republicans are in power, they do nothing to pull it back – they actually do everything possible to maintain the shift.  LOOK:

Saul Alinsky wrote the rulebook for radical leftists saying, “force the opposition to play by their own rules.”  A seemingly abhorrent concept when the powered wig crowd of honorable constitutional republicans take control.

Sitting atop the high horse Massie explains how it is a matter of principle that Republicans should not use power.

The Consumer Economy Has Completely Collapsed – “It’s a Ghost Town” for Holiday Shopping Everywhere

“Crowds? I see nothing. I’m surprised,” retail worker Jeremy Pritchett told FOX 2. “Normally, it’s wrapped all the way around the building. Today: no one.”

That’s the typical ground report from areas all over the country.  No one, literally almost no one, is doing any holiday shopping and the traditional Black Friday rush to get deals and discounts just didn’t happen.  Financial media are scratching their puzzlers, perplexed with furrowed brows.

Interestingly, almost every financial media outlet is using the same Retail Federation talking point about anticipating an 8% increase in holiday sales this year.  Apparently, pretenses must be maintained.  Meanwhile, news crews and camera crews are having a desperate time finding any holiday shopping to use as background footage for the claims that sales are strong.

“Look, over there. There’s a person buying something. Oh, wait, no, that’s just an employee dusting the empty cash register.”  At a certain point, one would have to believe reality would run head-first into the mass delusional pretending.  Maybe this holiday season will be it, maybe not.

Reuters – […] About 166 million people were planning to shop from Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday through this coming “Cyber Monday,” according to the National Retail Federation, almost 8 million more than last year. But with sporadic rain in some parts of the country, stores were less busy than usual on Black Friday.

“Usually at this time of the year you struggle to find parking. This year, I haven’t had an issue getting a parking spot,” said Marshal Cohen, chief industry adviser of the NPD Group Inc.

Iowa GOP Chair Proclaims Support for Ronna McDaniel – Everyone in the RNC Business Wants McDaniel, Except the Voters

U.S. political parties operate as a business.  Both wings of the business are private corporations.  The professionals inside the industry have a vested financial interest in retaining the business model.  The needs of the corporation are the priority, voters are annoying.

Having spent his career inside the industry, the Iowa GOP Chairman puts it this way:

‘Imperative’ Ronna made lots of money for the business.  Consultants, advisors, offices, polling groups, analysts, data, technicians, meetings, catering and more, take lots of money.  The corporations of the RNC and DNC exist to serve their own interests.  Politics is the RNC and DNC business; however, the income stream -the financial aspects to the business- is what holds influence over the corporate priority.

Ideology is part of the equation, but control of the business and generating revenue is the main function of the corporation. Unfortunately, in the reality of the business model, election outcomes are downstream from those two priorities.

Murkowski Wins Alaska Senate Race with Support from Democrats

As expected, the insufferable Lisa Murkowski has won reelection in Alaska despite losing the first-round republican vote.

As a result of neither Murkowski or Tshibaka winning 50% in the first round, the ranking system then adds the second choice of all voters.  Democrat voters chose Murkowski as their second choice providing her the win in the ranked choice voting system.

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Republican U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has won reelection, defeating Donald Trump-endorsed GOP rival Kelly Tshibaka.

Murkowski beat Tshibaka in the Nov. 8 ranked choice election. The results were announced Wednesday, when elections officials tabulated the ranked choice results after neither candidate won more than 50% of first-choice votes. Murkowski wound up with 54% of the vote after ranked choice voting, picking up a majority of the votes cast for Democrat Pat Chesbro after she was eliminated.

Report, Ronna McDaniel Pulls Ground Resources from Arizona Motivated by RNC Power Challenge

This is a significant dose of sunlight that aligns with everything known about how the RNC Corporation operates.  Additionally, given what we have witnessed coming from the history of the RNC operation, the claim tracks.

{Source and More}

History does show that Ronna McDaniel cares more about her Wall Street donor appointed position in the corporation, than she does about election outcomes that would be against the interest of those same Wall Street donors.  So, this claim makes sense in multiple ways.

In this brief interview segment {Direct Rumble Link} Steve Bannon and Natalia Mittlestadt discuss a GOP legal team compilation report {pdf Here} from Maricopa County, Arizona as identified by findings on election day.

…”The 11 attorneys visited 115 out of the 223 vote centers in Maricopa County on Election Day and found that 72 of them (or 62.61%) “had material problems with the tabulators not being able to tabulate ballots,” Sonnenklar reported, “causing voters to either deposit their ballots into box 3, spoil their ballots and re-vote, or get frustrated and leave the vote center without voting.” WATCH:

Sunday Talks, Paul Ryan Dismisses 75 million Member MAGA Movement, Claims Corporations Will Win Power Struggle Within GOP Battle

This interview is excellent news as Paul Ryan delivers a full-throated dismissal of Donald Trump and puts himself as the arbiter of “acceptable republicans” moving forward.

This Big Club operation in public is exactly what we need to see happen in order to wage a war against uniformed enemies within the republican party.  Keep in mind, as Paul Ryan talks about winning elections he recently campaigned for Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger in their failed 2020 midterm reelection campaigns.

Nothing about this interview where Paul Ryan positions himself against the blue-collar working-class MAGA movement is bad.  Sunlight is the best disinfectant, and for Paul Ryan to openly proclaim his anti-Donald Trump allegiances, which will soon evolve into open promotion for Ron DeSantis, will only help the awakening as we highlight the Republican Club strategy for 2024.  WATCH:

As I have said for years, there was no doubt in my mind that Paul Ryan was positioning himself to lead the “establishment” republican wing of the UniParty.  He has now openly and publicly embraced that role.  Pretenses are dropping, and that is a glorious thing. However, in reality, Paul Ryan as a candidate for Vice-President in 2012 received less votes in his own state of Wisconsin than candidate Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020.

The ‘America First’ national agenda, both economically and in larger global terms, was not represented in either wing of the UniParty system until Donald Trump came into politics.  The economics of the thing, the financial graft that oils the wheels of politics, is the source of all opposition.

On the part where Ryan outlines his view of the current financial situation, I can only laugh in his face.

This is the guy who was Speaker of the House of Representatives when he dispatched regular budgetary order in order to facilitate President Obama’s need for omnibus spending and continuing resolution bills.  Obviously, Ryan needs to pretend not to know that, and counting on, as Jonathan Gruber would say, “the stupidity of the American electorate.”

This battle into 2024 is going to be epic and fun.

Ryan named Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott as his three favorites. {source} DeSantis fighting Disney was “really good for him, from a political perspective,” Ryan said.

Lee Zeldin Seriously Considering Running for RNC Chair Position

The current RNC Chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, intends on submitting her name for another two-year term as the head of the Republican National Committee.  However, given her inability to manage modern electioneering, in my opinion, she needs to be removed.

Former Congressman Lee Zeldin is considering putting his name in the hat for consideration at the January/February RNC winter meeting (unknown venue).  Given the nature of the landscape, and without insight into any other potential candidates to head the RNC, Lee Zeldin needs to be supported.

During an interview with Fox News Laura Ingraham, Lee Zeldin said he was seriously considering making himself available for the position.  WATCH:

I have a very good hunch what plans are going to come out of the RNC winter meeting for the 2023 and 2024 landscape.  The RNC 2024 campaign rules, state primaries, delegate decisions and much more are going to come from that meeting.   I can guarantee you the professional political class within the RNC, and particularly the corporate donors to the Republican Party, is/are going to want Ronna McDaniel to remain.

Setting aside Donald Trump’s former support for her, Ronna McDaniel will not be a good thing for 2024.

RNC Chairwoman McDaniel lives in Michigan, the same state where DNC midterm ballot collection led to significant defeats for Republican candidates.  Are we to believe that McDaniel didn’t see what was happening in her own backyard, and didn’t have a plan for it?

If McDaniel was surprised by the ballot collection outcome in Michigan (or Pennsylvania) she should be removed for incompetence.  If McDaniel was not surprised by the outcome in Michigan (or Pennsylvania), she should be removed for incompetence.

The bottom line is the RNC needs a new electioneering focus and strategic ballot collection approach.  You do not structurally create a new system by retaining those with a vested interest in maintaining the flawed system.
