According to the latest data from Statistics Canada, the Canadian economy lost a net of 68,300 jobs in September. This follows a loss of 41,700 positions in August and wipes out all job gains for the entire year 2026.
The alarming results come after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has led all provincial premiers in a coordinated effort to confront U.S. President Donald Trump through an “elbow’s up” program of political antagonism and trade conflict.
Based on economic scale, Canada losing 68,000 jobs in a month would be the U.S. equivalent of losing 500,000 jobs. The “elbow’s up” program may be politically beneficial to Prime Minister Carney, but the economic consequences are crushing the northern neighbors.
The Canadian dollar immediately weakened after the jobs report and was trading down 0.44% at C$1.4287 to the US dollar, or 69.99 US cents. Yields on the two-year government bonds reversed early moves and were trading down 9.5 basis points to 2.410%.
Initially, when the trade war was announced, CTH anticipated a bottom for the CAD at 50¢/USD under the trade reciprocity program. 50¢ remains the forecast target when the termination of the USMCA (CUSMA) is announced, and analysts have the opportunity to gauge the outcome.
Meaning, if the Canadian trade surplus with the USA was eliminated, and if all the non-tariff barriers were removed, and if full trade reciprocity programs were instituted, and if Canada has to stand on its own economic footing with NATO spending requirements, current domestic tax rates and GDP growth factored, $1 CAD will be worth around 50¢ USD.
Remember, the Bank of Canada has already run the numbers on this. ……”A cascading series of events could cause a sharp loss of investor confidence and lead to a spike in demand for liquidity or rapid asset sales”… {MAY ’26}
(CBC) – Canada lost 68,000 jobs in September, according to Statistics Canada, marking a second straight month of losses. The unemployment rate ticked up by 0.1 percentage points to 6.5 per cent, which is where it stood at the start of 2026.
The figures bucked economists’ predictions for a gain of 9,200 positions in September. It comes after another surprise last month of 42,000 job losses for August, which snapped a hot streak for the labour market.
[…] By sector, educational services, health care and social assistance, and manufacturing led the declines. More workers in “other services,” which includes things like repair and maintenance, offset the losses.
Porter says the drop in education jobs, which was concentrated in Quebec, could be a bit of a blip, but says it could also point to weakness in the sector with fewer international students studying in the country. (MORE)
For CTH readers, allow me to explain what is happening that is not found in the Canadian financial media.
Business investment is essentially at zero; nothing is happening. Multinational corporations who are spending in Canada are purchasing assets. Other vulture capitalists and China are looking at exploiting the shrinking Canadian system, which is giving the Canadian govt a false sense of investment security. However, these institutions are not investing for growth, they are simply purchasing assets – purchasing in advance of what they predict will be massive leverage for how they will exploit the commodity or asset they are purchasing.
Carney is selling Canadian assets, pipelines, raw materials, energy, infrastructure and airports. He is essentially carving up the economy, selling Canadian assets and trying to organize the economy so that Canadians don’t realize the GDP shrinking around them. But you will notice that positive economic activity, that is activity that would grow the GDP valuation, is not Canadian owned.
Corporations who operate inside Canada are not replacing retirees and/or ordinary turnover within their organizations. Corporations are downsizing as the internal economic activity shrinks. This is directly related to the September jobs data.
Meanwhile, through deportation and cutting off the avenues of illegal alien subsistence in America, Trump is putting pressure on the parasite class of illegal migrants and a portion of those are fleeing to Canada. Trump is transferring the economic dependency to Carney.
The decline was concentrated in youth aged 15 to 24, who accounted for 48,000 job losses, according to the data agency. But the pool of young workers also shrank in September, leaving the unemployment rate for that group relatively unchanged at 13 per cent.
Core-aged women, between 25 and 54 years old, also held 28,000 fewer positions, and the number of women in that age group looking for work increased.
Quebec led the job losses by province, with 49,000 jobs lost in the month, while B.C. followed with 20,000 fewer jobs. Alberta, on the other hand, added 23,000 positions. (more)
It will get a lot worse. Slowly at first, then suddenly (USMCA termination notice) all at once.
That’s at the core of what these remarks are all about.

FAFO Trump style.
Iran has a brighter future then Canada.
Iran might be bright for a long time.

“If you are losing money on every watermelon you sell, buy a bigger truck to haul more watermelons.” Canadian Economics 101.
Or if you are losing money on every watermelon you are selling give some away to every Illegal you are importing into your Country. Then tax the hell out of your people and that will solve all your problems.
Well they’re just a bunch of losers, I guess!
Hosers
Socialists call this “success”.
Couldn’t happen to a better group except maybe France, Germany, or the UK, and maybe some of the Nordic countries, although they seem less suicidal. Why? Because experience is the best teacher and these people are in desperate need of lessons.
Please stop it. Go read a book on Canada
You go read a book about Canada if you think that’s a good use of your time. And don’t waste time telling me to waste mine.
I’ve visited Canada and heard from Canadians all the things they think are wrong with the U.S. They definitely need the experience of living without handouts from us
Oh Chinada
Framing this as a strategic mistake has always been misleading. The old rules of engagement flipped during the fake pandemic. This was the predictable outcome. Its part of that “NEW NORMAL” the globalist cabal kept drilling into your head over and over again during the fake pandemic which most still pretend not to notice. Fake midterm election results coming next.
HMMM? Doesn’t really follow the thread but, Ok??
Front row seats to Wharton economic reality class taught by Trump. I really like the last couple of years continuing education.
I will say it again. I feel for family and friends who are Canadian and still living there. No other words to describe what is happening other than total economic suicide. This is being hurried along by the tariffs, but Canada has done this to itself since Castro Jr. was initially elected. SD is most correct when hi says there is no private investment occurring in Canada right now. All major projects are government funded, will take years to even begin construction, if at all. Regulations, restrictions and negotiations with FIRST NATIONS are enough to scare even stupid money away. The question remains: when will the people north of the border realize they have been had???
Remember, one thing about Liberals, they never learn. The Country will burn to the ground, and they will continue to blame Trump.
I kinda miss SparkleSocks…
#JustinsEyebrow
That’s about as creepy as flies crawling around on Barack Obama’s face and he doesn’t seem to notice! Are they in masks? Sounds nutty, but at this point, the elites are as demonic as we can imagine!
Is it true that Alberta is attempting to separate? I’ve seen this reported…but unsure if true.
Maybe Gov. Carney could open some Chinese restaurants.
But only owned by Chinese corporations…

Over 40% of Canadian exports to the US are crude oil and lumber used by American business not to mention the fact that Canada has a population of 40 million people about 1/10 the population of the United States. Per capita Canadians buy 10 times the US product that Americans buy from Canada?
HAHAHAHAHAHA! TOO BAD! NOT SAD! AY!
Sad. Canadians are letting their “leaders” walk them right onto the trains
Strong Canada with all its exports labeled “Made in China”
“ purchasing in advance of what they predict will be massive leverage for how they will exploit the commodity or asset they are purchasing.”
How do they exploit the asset? If the asset keeps going down in value, then how do you make money?
I am not getting it 🙁
It may just be the control aspect for the near future, and even after that…
Eventually those assets will be worth something.
Red maple leaves drying up and floating to the ground here in this fall season. Will be blown away by the Trump whirlwind that they have sown.
Just so I’m clear, Sundance is predicting that when it bottoms out, $1 Canadian will be worth a half penny US?
50 cents
.50
I think he means 50 cents. The decimal point before the 5 shouldn’t be there, again in my opinion.
At some point, the pretending needs to just stop.
There is no stupidity happening here.
“Carney is selling Canadian assets, pipelines, raw materials, energy, infrastructure and airports. ”
They are raiding the Canadian economy. They could care less what will happen to the Canadians.
Like a board doing a hostile takeover of a corporation and then raiding all assets to the benefit of the new board members resulting in the destruction of the company.
“vulture capitalists … are not investing for growth, they are simply purchasing assets – purchasing in advance of what they predict will be massive leverage for how they will exploit the commodity or asset they are purchasing.“
The globalists are extracting the wealth of the Canadian people, selling the country out of the back of a truck in an alley.
They have no problem or concern about leaving Canada in ruins. They will profit from it.
This is intentional, not stupid.
Yes, especially when Carney’s assets are almost all in the U.S., which means he is profiting greatly from his betrayal of the Canadians who voted for him. That said, they (Carney voters) have done that to themselves…
True, my heart breaks for all the good Canadian people who did note vote for it. We were just a cackle away
Yes, I also know a few of them…
If I was Canadian, I would be buying gold or opening a bank account in the US in Dollars. The Canadian dollar is becoming worthless.
Isn’t that what happens at the end of a dying nation or empire?
Those at the top raid the treasury?
The government is selling all of its assets at a record pace to foreign nations.
That can only go on for so long.
With all the job losses, the government will take in less in taxation. Hence Canada will start printing money and inflation will explode.
I can see the CAD settling at 50 cents per USD after plunging below that level.
That’s like when I went to Barbados. It was a 2 to 1 ratio, which made it easy. If something costs $5 in their money, I just gave them a US $5 bill and got back a Barbados $5 bill.
Hope so. There are a lot of Canadian exporters would love to see 50 cents per USD.
Elbozos hoisted on their own retard.
Does Donald know where Canada is? He is staring at the Matterhorn again and that ain’t Canada
?????
It’s a new troll… 😉
Do you know where the Matterhorn is?
Switzerland. Now go lay by your dish…..
Allan seems a little off and in denial, based on his other remarks. Ignore him.
Must be Canadian!!!!
And liberal
El-Bozo…
Hoziers getting hosed.
I’m curious to what Europe is going to do for the Canucks?
Europe is broke.
France is about to explode when the government comes out for more cuts to the populace.
Who’s gonna bail the frenchies out?
Germany, China?
Sorry but every country around the world is broke.
Not just the US.
It’s tough being a subject with so little to say about how things are run there in Canaduh. That’s the way they want it here in the USA too. That’s why the election system is so frelled. It’s working as intended as the uniparty is doing everything they can to keep the system as it is without change and guaranteeing their seats on the thrones of their fiefdoms in perpetuity or close to it (90+% reelection rate)..
Keep in mind that collapsing the economy is a leftist’s wet dream. They would love to do it here, too (see COVID).
Canada is on track to become a ChiComm Protectorate Sh*thole.
#Soon
Sundance, the Canadians will never understand what you are saying unless you add “Eh” at the end. They are probably still waiting for you to finish your statement.
It will be transformative, just not in a good way.
In a few more months we won’t have to invade Canada, we can simply buy it!
I guess he could do like Biden and give them jobs in the government.
Partnering with the EU will allow all those people burning France down to enter Canada easily. The boomer class is the linchpin of the crazy train that is heading for a wall.
now is canada just partnering with the EU or are they trying to become a member??if so i believe it only takes one country to object and they don’t get in.
It makes you wonder when will corney disappear from Canada to never be seen there again.
The next time you see him will have a seat in the eu parliament yucking it up with the other eu members.
“And I didn’t even win the Nobel Peace Prize!”

President Trump had a phone call with putin and made a deal to ship diesel to the US and the world.
Actually pulling the plug (USMCA termination notice) would trigger an industrial revolt from the very U.S. manufacturing, tech, automotive, and agricultural sectors that form the backbone of the American corporate economy.
LOL!!! You are seriously uninformed.
”seriously uninformed.” not just me.
El-Bozo.
Allan is a bot
How much bot could a bought bot bot
if a bought bot could bought bot?
Oh?
Maybe you could explain that a bit.
No? Of course not 😎
In your fever dreams, you imagine that trade with Canada, at least from our perspective, is far more important than it is in reality. Day drinking will do that to you.
Maybe you can explain this better.
Why would an industrial revolt happen?
What’s an industrial revolt ?
The only revolt is going to be from the globalists that are no longer able to leech off the free access to the US economy.
Everyone else is readjusting and making new win/win deals that are benefiting many more people.
The King’s Prime Minstrel appears glum.
And so, if Canada “censors” and controls information coming from the US, that means that Canadians have no access to Sundance’s explanation above, right? They’re living totally ignorant of the realities of what’s happening to their country. The Big Question then becomes, “What’s going to happen to Canada?”
Can there be some sort of transportation initiative to get more illegals to flee to Canuckistan ?
Again, I repeat, we need to build a northern border wall.
Maybe its time to close the northern border…….
They will be the next ones to riot like in France.
Elbows up!
The Canadian unemployment offices are getting crowded.
Hmmmm…. I wonder what caused this?
“How did you go bankrupt? Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
Elbows up and Lipps puckered get ready canada to kiss that Chinese ass. Carney is selling you out.
The aggressive “elbows up” trade conflict between the U.S. and Canada has reached a critical boiling point as the November midterms approach. While the resulting labor slump and currency drops hit the Canadian economy, high-stakes political theater on both sides of the border continues to distort standard economic outcomes.
The ‘drip, drip, drip,’ of impending Canadian economic disaster will soon become the equivalent of the great 1889 Johnstown, PA flood.
The consequences will take many years to reverse, if at all.
For our fellow freemen in Canada – nullify the Crown.
