President Trump again draws attention to the Ukraine-Russia war creating havoc on the global diesel market. Trump notes that Russia has lost control of its diesel industry:

The strange thing about this message is that Russia has taken measures exactly the opposite of this framework.
Back in July, when NATO began increased targeting of Russian refinery infrastructure, Russian President Vladimir Putin proactively signed a government order banning the export of Russian diesel fuel. There have been no exports of Russian diesel since, with exceptions to the shipping industry and some humanitarian farm shipments.
Russia is the world’s second largest producer of diesel fuel and as soon as Putin made this announcement global prices of diesel began to rise. Russia then extended the bans, and the current export ban will run from Aug. 1 until Jan. 31, 2027.
Within the export controls there’s no doubt Russia is sending some diesel fuel to allied nations who are not part of the NATO attack alliance. In essence, Putin is controlling who gets the Russian output and the “ban” on exports simply puts the Russian government in control of it. This is what they call “intergovernmental agreements” which are not part of the ban itself.
Something about the western messaging on this issue just isn’t making sense.

President Trump would not be messaging against Russia’s interests. There’s an element to this narrative that we cannot yet fully identify.
I suspect President Trump is messaging this issue because he is specifically positioning the USA for an export ban on diesel fuel. All of our “allied” downstream dependents would immediately be in freak out mode if the USA did this. So, President Trump has to enhance the position that diesel is increasingly a national security interest right now.
That’s how the issue reconciles.
President Trump putting an export ban on U.S. diesel would be intensely damaging to Europe, specifically the EU-NATO group. However, that same U.S. ban on exports would increase the pressure on Europe to support a solution to the conflict.
He is looking past the world as it is today to the world he works to create.
Then why is it alleged that American and star link satellites have been the one’s providing the Ukrainian drones with the guidance required to hit refineries and other targets in Russia — right from the gitgo. Ukraine don’t have no satellites.

Well said…there is a 3-letter agency which may have more answers and it does not start with a “d” or an “f”. If I were betting, I would wager that this particular agency has more tentacles in the Ukraine debacle now than any other country does. The money laundering and interference going on for years seems to be coming to an end. There seems to be a great need to continue some control and international chaos.

Netherlands is #3 world producer of diesel, and they now face an impending shortage of crude oil. Their source will be Russia, and Trump now can sanction Netherlands/EU for buying Russian oil.
To cure the diesel problem redirect all of the corn oil going in to producing methanol as an additive to gasoline and produce biodiesel with the corn oil! Gasoline engines will run more efficiently with less methanol caused damage and everyone driving diesels will be driving around smelling like POPCORN and who doesn’t like popcorn?
basically it takes as much energy to produce a gallon of ethanol from corn, as there is energy in a gallon of ethanol.
When you factor in the poor efficiency of ethanol when burned in an engine, the mandated use of ethanol is a net loss of energy for the United States.
That does not factor in the losses from damage to fuel tanks/storage and damage to IC engines from using ethanol or, the added cost of infrastructure to separately store it and pump it.
Much better to make whiskey with corn and have more cookouts.

So even though Russia halted exports, strikes on Russian facilities basically rocks the market with the thought that things can’t and won’t return to normal when in fact nothing has fundamentally changed since Russia stopped exports.

There aren’t many weeks to the midterm elections so if Trump want to implement the ban it would have to be very VERY soon.
It’ll take a week or so for prices to trickle down to US consumers.
I suspect Trump will launch an investigation into gauging to force companies to lower prices in light of increased supply to the domestic market.
But all this will take another 2-3 weeks to permeate the national consciousness / zeitgeist and combat the inflation / gas prices narrative.
So…. If he does implement the ban it’ll have to be…. NOW.

I agree with Sundance. Trump is laying the groundwork to ban diesel sales to the EU. Grassley has called for diesel exports to halt.
It ties in with Carney’s ridiculous “middle countries” alliance, and Trump saying if it is deleterious to the U.S., we’ll cut trade.
It ties in with Greenland—Trump has guaranteed that the King of Denmark, who owns Greenland, does not have to worry about the UK/EU trying their extrication regime of stripping assets and impoverishing the territory.
