Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is delivering speeches, holding press conferences and trying to justify his position following the collapse of negotiations between the USA and Canada. Meanwhile, President Trump and his trade team are intentionally quiet.
In all high-stakes negotiations, deals and financial issues, the apex predators always know you make your point clearly and without reservation, you establish your terms and then you don’t say anything. Total silence. The first person to break the silence is the losing hand. Once your terms are established you stay quiet and then let the other party talk, talk, and talk themselves to yes. Silence is the power.
Mark Carney is telling everyone his position and trying to justify what has taken place. Mark Carney is in a very weak position on both structure and substance of the issues. [I wrote a lengthy explanation HERE]
Within this segment Carney tries to explain what the USA requests were that Canada would not agree to. He notes the U.S. wanted strict control over Canada’s free trade agreements (FTAs) with other countries. What Carney fails to note is that this exists already, right now in the USMCA [Article 32:10 of the USMCA]. The U.S. has termination rights to both Canada and Mexico FTAs with other countries. This is an example of Carney gaslighting Canadians.
In reality, Canada wants unlimited and unrestricted access to the U.S. market as if they were a 51st state. However, Canada will not permit unlimited and unrestricted access to their market for U.S. companies. This, Carney says, compromises the sovereignty of Canada. WATCH:
.
I was confident the discussions would collapse because the Canadian position is based on lies, fraud and political denial. Canada is playing politics hoping to retain their one-sided benefits and outlast President Trump into the midterm election. Trump, however, has already executed the tariffs and the only thing remaining for him and Greer to do is trigger the six-month USMCA withdrawal. [Details Here]

I was waiting to hear from Godzilla Trump…. His silence is now understandable and on point! 💥🇺🇸💥🇺🇸💥.
Canada does not have sovereignty. It is subject to the King of England, his royal highness King Charles the brave.
🤫
With his recalled political advisors the Harry formerly known as Prince and Harry’s boss Meghan.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Charles the brave….LOL!
No one asked Carney “How come Mexico is not in the same situation as Canada?”
The press in Canada are, constructively, gov’t employees. Carney is their boss.
They don’t ask anything not in the script.
I feel like the next move Trump makes is to announce a bilateral deal with Mexico which would automatically trigger a dissolution of the USMCA.
I cannot wait for the big announcement for cancelling the USMCA, and that 6 month countdown. F Canada
Canadian election incoming.
Carney walked on the talks to get the Boomers elbows in the air and reboot “Team Canada”. It worked once but not quite well enough for a fulsome majority. The Liberal Party war room is seeing whether or not the collapse of the talks and the 50% tariffs are enough to push Carney to a commanding lead in the polls. It it is Carney will call a “mandate” election and ask Canadians for a clear majority to stand up to Trump.
The sad part is that my countrymen are more than likely to give it to him.
In the vernacular, we’re hooped.
That clock will start ticking soon, I believe. President Trump has no fear of midterm results; they aren’t going to impact his economic policy train.
Winning. Still not tired of it, not ashamed to celebrate wins as they come.
If you have to explain and explain and explain, you don’t have a leg to stand on. In fact, you sound like you are attempting to convince yourself of something that you know not to be true. Not only that, but you are probably not telling the whole story, or you are lying your a$$ off, or both.
Now that China does not have a surreptitious back door into the US market, let’s see how the China / Canada relationship evolves, eh?
“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence.”
~Leonardo da Vinci
For the Canadian public’s own sake, one would hope… depending on the stage of their TDS.
“Silence is power.”
Put differently…
Have more than you show,
Speak less than you know.
The Art of Negotiation 101.
Trump is giving Carney a nose; the more he keeps talking the tighter it gets!
noose, not nose.
I learned this particular silence stance in sales training I did in the early 90s from sales trainer Tom Hopkins. It really works. If they don’t say yes, then, if you pay attention, they will tell you what it actual issue is. All you have to do is parse through the chaff and countermeasures. You will get to the nut of the issue.
Silence is such a strong response … One of my favorites… Imagine of Trump did it more often. Just ghosted the press for a few days. They would lose their minds . I can only imagine the conspiracies they would dream up
They’ve already lost their minds and dreamed up countless conspiracies.
Always heard if you couldn’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS. Looks like Canadians are going to be getting plenty of that from their own government. What some people do to hang on to power.
So far as I can see, Canada’s “industry” consists of unpacking boxes from China, tightening one bolt on the device, then packing it up for shipment into the USA as “Made in Canada.”
Or, they take natural resources they have in abundance, but make no effort to DO anything with them.
They say they’re saving the planet. (Nevermind the coal smoke clouds their Chinese suppliers are spewing out.)
Is there really no one in Canada who is still proud of their country and wants to show the world what THEY can do? 🤷
Does no one who lives there ever think: “F&ck China!!”
“Make CANADA Great Again!” It’s not just a slogan or an acronym. But, Canada, YOU have to want it!
Take a reality-TV cue from you-know-who and tell certain people: “YER FIRED!!”
