President Trump has paused the 50% tariffs set to go into effect against Canada at midnight.
According to media reports, after the Canadian trade delegation failed to come to a negotiated settlement on key USMCA terms, Prime Minister Mark Carney called President Trump earlier today to discuss the tariffs that were scheduled to begin tomorrow.
President Trump has announced a pause via Truth Social:
I’m curious to see how this works out. Apparently, there’s something about the Keystone XL Pipeline in a deal.
UPDATE:
Congratulations Mr. President. The deal will include comprehensive market access for all American goods, economic security commitments, digital trade alignment, and many important provisions that will continue to protect our market and American workers, along with our Canadian… https://t.co/YSQ4rNmKAv

Interesting.
What more could Carney’s administration offer beyond paying for the XL pipeline to be built out of their own pockets?
Interesting note another “pipeline player” here in Canada Enbridge had a good day on the stock market after days of decline.
Did a lot of work for Enbridge, always paid (well) on time no complaints. Still have their safety stickers on my skull protector.
Cheers, and it has been a good dividend paying stock for we Canadians for many years.
Build a big beautiful wall and pay for it?
Note—to PM Snow Mexi
Pound sand.
Shouldn’t it be the “Left Honourable”?
It shouldn’t be “Honourable” at all.
And Carney is a strong ‘green’ energy guy; wind mills are his thing. He avoids oil.
This pipeline deal is a crusher for his ego. And he’ll have to fight it out with the Aboriginal and First Nation groups that will be bought at a heavy price.
It would take up pipeline capacity. Making it more difficult for Canada to broaden their energy customer base. Taking away future leverage.
Lol!
Thank you President Trump.
Alberta, and Saskatchewan Oil and Gas workers say thank you!
Enbridge a large Energy Canadian company invested heavily in Texas Pipelines over the last several years.
When your Bidump was stumbling around Enbridge was investing
in other U.S. States too.
The only negative is our Carnage will claim credit, although he has been in Italy all week.
Inexpensive heavy crude for your Texas in believe refineries.
A good deal for all!
The President Trump way..
One thing I’ve learnt about the master negotiator, PDJT, is to never expect the expected.
appears much needed sour diesel grade crude is coming our way
watch pres Trump announce U.S. refinery expansion/construction the coming days/weeks
Worked in a couple refineries that the feedstock was oil sand based. It is a big change over to the process to get the end product.
The engineers missed by many multiples on how corrosive the process is. Was back a year after original install of my equipment making changes related to the changes to the cracking tower.
The product comes in on BNSF railcars, one of the biggest forces against the pipeline.
Husky I believe owns the plant in Toledo presently.
Yes, BNSF still owned by Warren Buffet I believe.
We live on the border at Washington State and watch hundreds of
his rail cars roll by daily.
With Buffet and Munger gone maybe we will get the pipelines and reduce shipping costs by eliminating costly rail transport.
🤞
Why not build a huge refinery or three in North Dakota. They are big on oil and could use the jobs.
God bless,
Mike
about 7-8 years ago there was talk of a refinery in union county south dakota.pretty much half way between sioux city iowa and sioux falls s.d.just south of a little town of spink.then one day ..nothing.haven’t heard a word about it since.
The amount of water that is used-not consumed- used for a refinery makes AI centers look like punks.
Then you have all the byproducts such as sulfur that has to be with in a reasonable and safe distance to the plant that refines that.
Years working on the very edge of the process really opened up processes for me.
The BP plant in Whiting IN used to take water from Lake Michigan as process water, it was tested coming in from the lake, it went thru the plant for what ever (mostly cooling) then tested and back to the lake.
The water was cleaner on the return than the intake, BP had to pay a monthly fine for putting to clean of water back in the lake.
They built large storage tanks to filter and keep the water onsite.
Valero in Houston went thru the exact same BS.
The water was to clean???
The E P A s@cks
How freaking idiotic is that? Maybe send this info to Lee Zeldin, Head of the EPA to get his attention now.
I believe he would make things right as he’s dismantled a lot of the EPA BS rules and regs.

“Bidump”- love it!!!!!
Enbridge has been in Texas for many years and have demonstrated themselves to be an excellent company.
I hope this mess gets straightened out in a manner that is good for both countries people.
It is not good for kinfolks to be fighting and there is so much economic gain to be had by both countries working together.
Yes, It is always the politicians or their “organizers “that create division.
Bass Turds..all of them.
Boy ain’t that the truth, Dekester. Really hope this deal goes through for all the MAGA and MCGA folks who just want to have decent jobs…..and less pols and organizers.
that will be overturned, IMHO, when the dems regain congress

I’m very confident Greenland is a topic of discussion as well.
That picture reminds me of the one of General Patton on the East bank of the Rhine informing Eisenhower he had beaten Montgomery across the river.
(if you know you know)
I know. And General Patton, as well as his Army, was ready to roll right into Berlin and end the war But NOOOOOOO said Eisenhower’s “advisors” at the time. If we could only go back in time and strangle the bastards the caused that debacle.
Call me greedy, but I’d like Canada’s overwhelming support for the United States acquisition of Greenland.
Weelllllll……
HAHA. PDJT gave Canada a 3-day reprieve, until Friday, Aug 21. Hey, PM Carney, get your arse home from Italy, sunnyboy. Looks like you’ve got some business on your plate called the Keystone Pipeline. President Trump isn’t going to let that unfinished business from term 1.0 stand. He’s not a quitter and never leaves defeat on the table. Pony up, buster. Time to finish the expansion.
PM Carney, aside from the earthquakes, extreme heat & wildfires in Italy right now, how was your trip to Italy this week? Productive?
“Well, I did get to kiss Meloni’s ass…but only from 5 feet away.”, said Carnage.
It sounds like Canada went elbows down and bent the knee.
The negotiators for Canada are focused on getting something they can half-credibly sell to the elbows-up crowd. Even at cost to their future and treasure. Maintaining political power is the goal of the globalists, not the economic security of the Canadian citizens.
Trump writes ”… all American goods”.
If true, Canada’s Dairy Cartel is having a fit. Quebec will be severely impacted.
Carney had no choice, if he wished to stop Canada’s economic free fall.
If he had any sense, he would have made a deal months ago, instead of looking like a damn fool, thinking that he had any meaningful leverage that he could use against DJT.
The man is a feckless boob!
I beg to differ. Justine the drama teacher was for sure.
But Carney might be the ultimate WEF puppet psycho-lizard green (fake) zealot CCP-lackey Fabian-disciple child-mutilation-enabling Satanist on the planet. He’s Financially smart, intelligent by education and connected globally at the highest levels.
I’ll split my receipts into two replies below to dissipate the Great Wall ‘o Text effect.
All of what follows has made him the optimum choice to lead the WEF and CCPs assault on the existential threat to the New World Order that President Trump’s burgeoning America, from inside CCP-owned Canada, and cleared the path to his personal goal of being a billionaire through Brookfield.
Carney’s connections, education and pre-politics career:
His brother is the manager of Wills and Kate’s estate:

He hangs with 2 of the most accomplished Handlers in the business – Ghislaine and his wife Diane Fox-Carney (she’s worth a bit of research if you’ve a mind 😉 ).

He has a trans child that attended Tavistock:

Despite his writings and musings he’s not actually a true green believer. His only goal is to become a billionaire and he’s selected green as his MO. Here’s a chart that hints at why he has no care for Canada, indeed it’s in his personal interest to ensure America succeeds.
https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVIgUjvog=/
The chart is the work of David at Moose on the Loose, an independent news channel:

Carney’s education:
Graduated as valedictorian from St. Francis Xavier High School in Edmonton (1983).
Harvard University: BA in Economics (magna cum laude, 1987). He played backup goalie on the varsity ice hockey team.
University of Oxford: MPhil (1993) and DPhil (PhD, 1995) in Economics. His doctoral thesis was titled “The Dynamic Advantage of Competition.” He returned to Goldman Sachs between his master’s and doctorate.
Carney’s early career at Goldman Sachs (1988–2003):
1988–1990: Started as an Analyst in the credit risk department in London.
~1990–1991: Transferred to the Tokyo office for about a year.Returned to London after Oxford graduate studies. Served as Co-Head of Sovereign Risk and Executive Director, Debt Capital Markets. Advised sovereign clients in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on debt issuance and related matters. He was involved in work around South Africa’s post-apartheid entry into international bond markets and aspects of the 1998 Russian financial crisis.
1998: Moved to New York as Vice President, Corporate Finance, working on mergers and corporate finance transactions.2000: Transferred to Toronto to manage investment banking relationships in Canada.2002: Promoted to Managing Director of the firm. By the end of his tenure, he had built expertise in international finance, risk management, sovereign advisory, and emerging markets.
Carney in politics
During 5 years of advising Justine Castreau, followed by 1 year as Prime Minister, he’s used the bought-and-paid-for MSM and national pollsters to foment all-consuming TDS in the arrogant and selfish boomers. They’ve sacrificed their children’s and grandchildren’s futures on the combined altar of safeguarding their home equity and competitive virtue-signalling of their TDS and suicidal empathy.
And he’s just getting started.
You will be amazed at how quickly Canada spirals down now that he’s bought his majority. the end of USMCA and EU membership waiting in the wings. He talks about diversifying Canada’s trade with other countries. He says we’ll double our exports with our second largest trade partner, China, in 10 years. But the US is ~75% of Canada’s export trade. UK and China are second/third but at only 4 – 6% each.
He’s carried out his masters’ bidding – WEF and CCP – as Governor of the Bank of Canada then Governor of the Bank of England, followed by a spell leading the Brookfield empire, and now this role which he secured by leveraging Canadians near-universal TDS.
He’s been an ally and advocate of the CCP for all of that time, and their active business partner during his time leading Brookfield. When Governor of the Bank of Canada he influenced the financial and regulatory framework to facilitate CCP’s laundering of drug, gambling and real estate money.
He endeared himself to the CCP when at the Bank of England. He established the RMB clearing hub in London in 2014 which significantly increased China’s commercial power and reach globally.
This enabled him to later leverage that relationship while Chairman of Brookfield and concurrently economic advisor to Justine for the last five years of the drama teacher’s time in power.
But he still loves America. His wife and children live there some of the time. His children were educated there. He moved the headquarters of Brookfield to America 2 months before being “elected”. This enables Brookfield to escape Canada’s stifling tax and regulatory regimes, and makes it much harder for us to require information about his positions there.
And over 500 of his almost 600 stocks and shares are American. Only 3 are Canadian.
He stands to make tens if not hundreds of millions from Brookfield’s future success via Global Transition Fund 1 and 2 that he established while at the helm there. Note that he negotiated carried interest contracts not shareholdings. These types of agreements are almost impossible to rescind, unlike shareholdings, should he ever get called on his conflicts of interest.
All of this has made him the optimum choice to lead the WEF and CCPs assault on the existential threat to the New World Order that President Trump’s burgeoning America, from inside CCP-owned Canada, and cleared the path to his personal goal of being a billionaire through Brookfield.
The first of my 2 replies about his connections and early career is awaiting approval as it has several links, sorry.
I think if you look to what his job really is, globalist opposition to Trump he may be considered to be doing pretty well.
Waiting to the last minute was intentional. The only way to come away from what he knew he had to do, and minimize political damage. Whatever the deal, it will be considered better than 50% tariffs. The body politic will be relieved. Anger will grow as Canadians discover the terms that the controlled media will hide. These terms will become clear just about when the USMCA is announced to be no more, shifting hatred back to Trump.
That’s what I’ll be looking for.
We need to fully understand how President Trump communicates. What he says has psychological intent focused on whatever issue he is discussing, but his verbiage is often publicized for a reason. It is not what he says that is often important….it is what he does.
You remind me of something my high school football coach said. He told us what he tells us in practice and what he tells the press are two different things.
Curiouser and curiouser…
I was hoping Trump would destroy the Canadian economy, not good news.
Why?
What would that benefit anyone?
Correct. With our products now headed into the Canadian market, Canada needs a stronger economy.
Whatever.
I stopped believing in Trump’s deals after the
fourth fiftheleventy-billionth deal with the Iranians.Acta non verba, Mr. President. Everything else is just tacos.
about as clueless as you can get.
Keep pretending, friends.
I believe part of the deal was to show to the world that NO DEAL was possible. To the rational person this is obvious but we don’t live in a rational world any longer.
Donald J. Trump, the Master Troll, uses TACO as a Strategic Asset.
More like a food group.
They would negotiate a lot faster if the tariffs were in place, and an agreement removed them.
I guess we will find out in three days. President Trump keeps throwing them a life line and so far Canada has refused to make an equitable deal.
Better be a great deal because I don’t trust the Canadian government. Dealing with duplicitous people means always having their gonads tied to get ready to pull.
I wonder….
Let’s say the Alberta pipeline is completed and terminates somewhere in America.
What prevents the Canadian government from shutting off the flow of that oil, whatever whim they have at the moment?
Canada has been a huge net user of America for many years.
It’s not entirely their fault, as our American leaders have allowed Canada to take advantage of America.
So what changes exactly when this pipeline crosses over the American border?
Easy – a simple clause in the Agreement that says something to the effect of – if you shutoff the flow of oil, or violate any of the terms and conditions of the Agreement, that will trigger a full and complete embargo of anything of Chinadian origin.
The Chinadian Marshall Plan is over.
Congratulations Mr. President. The deal will include comprehensive market access for all American goods, economic security commitments, digital trade alignment, and many important provisions that will continue to protect our market and American workers, along with our Canadian partners.
Canada is like the IRGC. We’ll see. Let’s start with Dairy.
72 hours for Mark Carney to plead, beg, blackmail, buy off✔️ the premiers who removed the booze from their shelves and convince Quebec that the dairy ‘ban’ is ending and the world won’t end.
what next?😳
Some POS federal judge will block it, no matter what “IT” is………….
I was hoping for increased manufacturing jobs in my state of Ohio. The “deal” will keep auto plants running in Canada, I suppose. Keystone XL pipeline resumption would be good news. The jobs that “Make America Great Again” have only been moving to Southern states, since President Trump was elected. My State gave him 3 election wins, a V-P, a Senator he endorsed and we are waiting for a return that will never come.
Not to take anything from the economic gains in Southern states: I am happy for their prosperity. But if this state doesn’t see any improvements from Republicans (it hasn’t!, only record high real estate taxes!) voters will turn it blue. Ohio is a solid, red state for now. Unfortunately, there are few maga signs of life, here in Northern Ohio that I see.
But at least we can proudly say we have the honorable, Rep. Jim Jordan, holding hearings, exposing corruption, asking tough questions and writing the accused, “strongly worded letters”. So, at least we’ve got that!
But at least we can proudly say we have Rep. Jim Jordan, holding hearings, exposing corruption, asking hard questions and writing the accused criminals assorted, strongly worded letters. So, at least we’ve got that!
The sarc is strong with this one.
😉
New factories are being built in Arizona, Idaho, Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Kentucky, and New York.
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=In+what+States+are+new+factories+being+built+in+thelast+six+months&t=ddg_ios_tablet&atb=v249-1&ko=-1&ia=web&assist=true
And I know there are other plants that will be built in other states. This list above is the last 6 months.
Why wasn’t the pipeline ‘reawoken’ earlier? It appears Canada wasn’t the issue. Why is it now included as part of the ‘deal’?
The original Key Stone project died because of the U.S. permit revocation under Biden. The partial reboot faces the same structural U.S. challenges (permitting complexity, litigation risk, political flip-flop potential, and commercial hurdles) that plagued it for over a decade, even with current White House support.
Canada has generally been ready and willing; the friction is overwhelmingly on the American side of the border plus company risk calculus. Any real construction still depends on clearing remaining U.S. state/federal hurdles and firm commercial commitments.

I bet the new condition on the Canadian side will turn out to be that it can only transport “Green, de-carbonized oil” (whatever that means 🤪 🤣), just as Carney has done with the supposed pipeline to the west from AB.
That’s to ensure that he can profit from Brookfield’s carbon capture technology and their carbon credits multi-billion dollar scam.
Here’s the issue with Canada, and oil producers know it that’s why they’re loathe to sign on. “Fool me once, …..”
Capital costs for Pathways (a ~400 km CO₂ pipeline plus capture facilities and a storage hub) were originally pegged around C$16.5 billion and have been discussed in the $20–30 billion range in some later commentary, with significant ongoing operating costs. (And this is long before the project is even off the drawing board)
Industry has repeatedly said it cannot (or will not) carry the full burden alone. The project only moves forward with substantial federal and provincial support (investment tax credits of 50% on capture equipment and 37.5% on transport/storage, potential operating-cost support, regulatory relief, and other incentives). reuters.com
💯 🎯
And cue Brookfield’s regular MO of getting large pension funds on the hook from the start to carry the bulk of the risk burden, while the deals are structured such that Brookfield, and Carney via his carried interest deals, get most of the profits long term. 😡
That is actually quite funny. With the pipeline in the mix, now the Dems who have screamed for an agreement with Canada will be at the forefront of trying to kill the agreement!
“No more tarriffs”….you know the Cdn media is going to spin this as a win for Carney. “Elbows up” just went to faces down/butts up.
i don’t know…….. carney the globalist circus clown puppet seems to be more suicidal than to accept this. his dark ccp and wef sith lords may not allow him to accept. i guess we’ll see at the end of the tariff reprieve though my money is on him taking down canada rather than allowing PDJT and canada a victory.
Perhaps the drama allowed Carney the ability to correctly position himself (and his friends) in the market.
It Carney can profit greatly, I doubt he cares about little else.
Gotta give the drama queen credit. He put on a pretty good show.
Yesterday: Mr Tough Guy slaps Trump about and pretends to fight for green energy principles and Canadian businesses.
Today: ooh look! Pipeline and American products on the shelves!
I’m sure the negotiation delays were just to be sure that Carney correctly placed his bets to benefit from the new trade reality.
Win-Win?
Canada gets $ from US and gets rid of that no good bad for a green economy oil.
US gets oil to refine.
Anyways to late and complicated to help out on mid terms.
Donald J. Trump, the Master Troll, uses TACO as a Strategic Asset. Nobody does it better. Every country or person he DEALS with feels that pain, especially RINOs and ‘crats.
So how does this impact gas and diesel prices?
Is this USMCA++ or a whole new treaty?
Canadastan’s globully-ist Jiggery-Pokery is meanwhile ongoing…
Ah! The XL Pipeline! So that’s why Trump has been needling and scaring Canadians about us annexing them as our 51st state!
That always seemed so counterproductive, for Trump to be doing all that, especially leading right into Canada’s national elections. It secured Carney’s victory (without them having to cheat him in). And it also united today’s passive Canadians with a common fear/hatred toward DJT.
Now it looks like we see what the real target of his mean tweetery was: more chokepoint-free energy for the US.
…while Chinese made goods and services flow across our border?
Sounds like capitulation on Carney’s part.
”Let’s see what happens.”
