Back in 2013 and 2014 we shared the story of a man returning to Florida was stopped by police in Maryland who asked him for his firearm. When the Floridian asked the Maryland police how they knew he owned a firearm, things got sketchy. {Go Deep} The event kicked off a constitutional discussion.
A few years later in 2015 the Wall Street Journal reported on a national federal database that was using Automatic License Plate Readers (APLRs) to capture and store the travel of millions of Americans {SOURCE}.
Now we fast-forward a decade and that federal database is now being exploited by local police around the nation to keep track of ordinary persons of interest to their community who travel outside their jurisdiction. This is where the Flock Cameras come into the discussion. WATCH:
The same government interests who dismiss our concerns about privacy are the same govt interests who point out how horrible China and Iran are for monitoring their citizens on CCTV systems.
Did anyone else naively think that you have to have Communists in charge of your local, state or federal government to live in a Communist country? How is this not illegal search and seizure? I guess when local LEAs watched the FBI, CIA and DoJ SHRED the Constitution, they figured what the heck? Nothing happened to Commey, Rosenstain, McScabe, Hellder, Lynch’em, Brennan, etc so why not? Talk about entitled, privileged or whatever you want to call it. Personally, I call it an invasion of privacy and a violation of my Constitutional rights. They simply don’t care!

So one can make disparaging comments on social media and then buy a gun and become a person of interest to law enforcement. They know exactly where you are.
But some person can walk up to a voting registration table with two minutes before the polls close, have no ID and still get a ballot to vote.
We ignored Snowden when he exposed the spying on everybody. And the NSA database can hold only so much. Now with all the Fluck (sic) snooping, where will all that data be kept? Hence data centers. I’m not buying that we need them for “AI”. Uncle Sam needs them for someting else.
Just admit it we live in a surveillance state. Meanwhile our government has zero accountability. What could possibly go wrong.

Go to junk yard and get several different plates make up some stickies so they all appear current and have them displayed in several places? Have real one also legally in view?

Law enforcement can make good use of license plate information. No one could seriously question the propriety, maybe the cost, of hiring 500 people to sit around a city and take photos of cars as they pass by on public roads and spaces. At the end of the day, these photo would takers turn their photos over to the police. Then the complexity of storing and sorting all those photos would be another uge manpower drain. Would people be attacking Nikon, Canon and other companies who made the cameras thus used?
License plate readers like those made by Flock, and there are also other companies doing this, merely make the process of gathering, storing and sorting the data much more efficient and affordable. Flock doesn’t own the data. They don’t decide how it’s used. They don’t decide how or if it is shared with other police departments. Flock may provide software for the PD’s to use. Flock merely provides an extremely efficient tool to law enforcement. How their customers use or abuse it is beyond their control.
Flock is in the business of making YOU their product that they sell. They catalog your vehicle’s “fingerprint” that will identify it with or without the plate. If, at any time in the future you become an undesirable for any reason (say maybe someone in law enforcement has a grudge against you or yours) this data will be available to find fault in your activities. If the police need that data so badly they ought to have to get a judge to sign off on going out to get it.
This isn’t just a vendor filing a need.
They do a lot more than take a picture of your license plate….
Am I the only one who has noticed how coordinated and organized all the anti-Flock messaging has seemed recently? Please spare me your libertarian hand-wringing if you don’t live in an urban hellscape where gunshots wake people at midnight. Those are the places that desperately need tools like LPR. And trials show that they work, they generate arrests, including murderers. Democrats mainly objected because the technology was catching too many criminals of a certain color. Now they are worried that ICE might use it so it got repacked as a libertarian issue? Heaven forbid that any cities start dialing back the carefully curated multiethnic-danger-jungle. Remember, criminals are useful to the communist system, while political dissent (protesting stolen elections) is severely punished.
If the data is there, someone will use it nefariously.
