Ontario Premier Doug Ford has a message to President Trump and to all Americans. Premier Ford promises to dismantle the U.S. economy if President Trump continues to threaten tariffs and trade sanctions.

Personally, I think all this back-and-forth banter is no longer worth the surface effort. It would be much easier, and now affirmed as constitutionally appropriate by the Supreme Court, if President Trump just executed a full trade embargo against all Canadian goods for a period of 60-days.
Perhaps that way Canada will recognize just how vulnerable they are. Perhaps not, but it’s worth the effort. Just ban all imports and exports for 60-days and let’s see what happens.

My company produces physical products. If you regularly celebrate national days, you just might have one of these products.
We sell the by license to big stores, mall kiosks, and mom and pops, etc. And we sell them off of our website.
Canadians often reach out because our website will not recognize a Canadian shipping address for viable shipping. Canadian customs will literally double the buyer’s cost. So, we simply do not mess with that, plus the paperwork (we ship directly) involved to ship across the border is a giant pain.
We have tried to set up independent wholesalers in Canada. They don’t follow through and actually order any quantity worth our time. They will gladly order 100, maybe, but we require 3000. And, then the customs costs reduce a wholesaler to no revenue at retail.
We survive without Canadian customers. So can the USA.

As Sundance often says, economic security is national security. In Canada, trade policy is national security. This is why Canada exploits every avenue of the USMCA agreement with a zealousness that is not matched by our side except those who partner with Canadian firms (and there are many on our side). A full 60 embargo would be devastating to Canada.
