Iran will not make a deal. Even if they did it would not be adhered to. Be aware that most of the IRGC terrorists are NOT Iranian. Most have Arab names. The IRGC will have to be taken out by the true Iranian people. No amount of bombing will cause the regime to collapse. Iran is a very large country with plenty of places for the IRGC terrorists to hide. We are not dealing with normal people.
The entire region can collectively apply a lot of pressure on both Iran and on external players China and India. It struck me as odd that the IRGC thought that Iran alone would be the gatekeeper collecting tolls on the strait of Hormuz. Several other nations along that pathway could also choose to do the same. Others could simply charge shipping tariffs on non-petroleum goods. For example, if Kuwaiti petroleum is subject to tolls by Iran (who offers generous discounts to China-bound petroleum), Kuwait could choose to impose fees on Chinese commerce. I think that this has been a big part of the negotiations behind the scenes. China, India and others want the strait open.
I don’t trust Iran, but I trust President Trump. I’m all for military action, I trust DJT if a diplomatic solution doesn’t allow Iran to have nuclear abilities and international waters are open to all without inference .
Recall that President Trump has superior rapport with nearly every mid-east leader. He’s offered them a future of business deals, trade, and economic growth. He had a packed audience at the signing of the Abraham accords. This likely came in handy with the recent Iran negotiations behind the scenes. Previous administrations going back decades played mid-east nations against each other. Most of the mid-east nations prefer the Trump course.
