In the next few days, much more about the overall investigative review underway in Florida will begin to surface. The review has been led by USAO Jason A. Reding Quiñones, a federal prosecutor for the Southern District of Florida.
As with all investigations containing multiple players and actors, the first investigative information is extracted from testimony by those furthest away from the principals, yet closest to the granular details of the events being reviewed. The questioning then goes upstream, using information collected to assemble more specific questions as the principal players are approached.
The widest concentric circles are questioned first. Then, using the responses and investigative information from that circle, the questioning and inquiry goes to the next inner circle of participants. The information is assembled, and more pointed questions are then targeted to the next inner circle; the process continues until the core is questioned.
Beginning with the end in mind, the biggest challenge is knowing what the correct questions are to ask of those who were closest to the corrupt activity (the outer circle). Background research is critical – CTH of value. From those pointed questions you get answers. Then, next level of more specific questions get focus, and so on, and so on.
FLORIDA – Former FBI Director James Comey has been subpoenaed in connection with a wide-ranging investigation being run by a Trump-appointed federal prosecutor in Florida, two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News on Thursday.
The probe, which focuses on an earlier investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and other prosecutions related to President Donald Trump, is being led by Jason A. Reding Quiñones, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida. The sprawling probe has been dubbed a “grand conspiracy” investigation by Trump allies.
An attorney for Comey did not have an immediate comment, while Quiñones’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (read more)
Please remember, there are two distinct and different aspects to the overall conspiracy and timeline.
There was surveillance of the 2016 Republican candidates by contractors working on behalf of the FBI who was institutionally collaborating with the Clinton campaign; that is known as “Spygate.” There was then an FBI operation to target and eliminate the threat represented by the 2016 GOP primary winner, Donald Trump; that is known as “Russiagate.”
‘Spygate’ and ‘Russiagate’ are two distinctly different corrupt pathways that eventually merged due to common interests.
The Mueller investigation, an extension of Crossfire Hurricane (Russiagate) was used by Obama-era politicians and internal government officials as a mechanism to block President Trump from executing a divergent foreign policy. The primary policy of focus was to protect the Iran deal.
Based on mounting evidence, a pattern in other international activities and U.S. participants, the Obama-Clinton-Kerry Iranian deal likely included a mechanism for return payments to U.S. officials following the release of billions in frozen Iranian asset funds and the loosening of sanctions – (ie. pallets of cash). Qatar was the mediator/broker.
However, it is speculated, perhaps being currently evidenced, that return payments to the Obama team contained a timing mechanism and the quid-pro-quo payments were stopped after President Trump withdrew from the Iran deal and re-instituted sanctions.
Thus, a much larger background context exists for why the totality of the U.S. government and Intelligence Community opposed President Donald Trump. Is it all about the money? Time will tell. Current events may not be coincidental.
♦ September 2015 – Billionaire Paul Singer contracts with Glenn Simpson and Fusion GPS for opposition research on candidate Donald Trump during 2016 GOP presidential primary. Simpson prior work during time at Wall Street journal serves as reference.
♦ November 2015 – Simpson hires Nellie Ohr to assist on Trump project. Ohr was CIA open-source analyst. Revelations by NSA compliance officer in April 2016 point to November 2015 as origin of multiple unauthorized searches of NSA database.
♦ December 2015 – Mrs. Ohr contacts Christopher Steele, submitting data for cross-reference with sources and seeking collaboration on Trump project. Ohr using ham radio license as independent operator.
♦ January – March 2016 – GOP Presidential primary ongoing. Candidate Donald Trump wins majority of primary delegates from all early state contests. Momentum for Donald Trump becomes significant. Cruz, Kasich, Rubio final group along with Trump. Late March, Paul Singer contacts Glenn Simpson to cancel opposition research. NSA compliance officer notifies NSA Director Mike Rogers about unauthorized use of database by “contractors.” Rogers asks for full review.
♦ April 2016 – April 16, 2016, NSA compliance officer reports to Director Rogers of approximately 10,000 database searches, using “same identifiers” over “multiple dates.” Rogers responds by shutting down contractor access and blocking all FISA-702(17) “about” queries. April 17, 2016, Glenn Simpson wife, Mary Jacoby, visits White House. Glenn Simpson pitches preassembled oppo-research file on Trump to Clinton Team. Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann takes over payments and signs contract with Fusion for continued work.
♦ May/June 2016 – Chris Steele constructing dossier on Donald Trump, submissions returned to Fusion GPS, Nellie Ohr and husband Bruce Ohr, #4 in DOJ-NSD. External contacts made to Trump orbit by foreign officials from Australia (Downer), U.K (Mifsud) and Cyprus. Trump campaign continues presidential primary victories. Trump enlists Paul Manafort as delegate manager for upcoming RNC convention.
♦ July 2016 – FBI opens official investigation of Trump for Russia collusion, predicated on contact from Australian Ambassador about non-existent claim Trump group receiving Clinton/DNC emails from Russian hackers. Attempted FISA application rejected.
♦ August 2016 – CIA Director John Brennan informs Harry Reid of Clinton oppo-research effort known colloquially as Trump-Russia. Former Acting CIA Director Mike Morrell, long time Clinton ally, publishes article in New York Times claiming Russians want Trump victory. Hillary proclaims vast Russian conspiracy theory.
♦ September 2016 – Director Brennan directly informs White House, President Obama, Susan Rice, Lisa Monaco of Clinton oppo-research effort known colloquially as Trump-Russia. Fusion GPS, Glenn Simpson and Michael Sussmann identified as sources for organizing oppo-research Steele Dossier.
♦ October 2016 – Steele Dossier assembly used by DOJ-NSD in FISA application against Trump campaign official Carter Page. Through April 2016, FBI used Carter Page as undercover employee in case against Russian Evgeny Buryakov; now October 2016, FBI claims Carter Page is official “agent of a foreign government” to gain FISA warrant. Steele Dossier serves as replacement for Woods File supporting Title-1 search warrant.
♦ November 2016 – Donald Trump wins 2016 presidential election defeating Hillary Clinton and stunning world. Clinton campaign blames Russians for her loss. Accuses Trump of colluding with Russia. Trump campaign and transition team now under Title-1 full counterintelligence surveillance by FBI via Page FISA warrant.
♦ December 2016 – Joint Analysis Report released by intelligence community, claiming Russians were involved in attempting to influence 2016 election. All Trump campaign and transition members under full physical and electronic surveillance. All communication intercepted. Officially FBI Director James Comey denies President-elect Trump under investigation.
♦ January 2017 – Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) released by Obama administration claiming confidence Russia had attempted to interfere in the 2016 election. ♦ February 2017 – National Security Advisor Michael Flynn under fire for talking to Russian ambassador in December during Christmas holiday. Full court press by FBI and DOJ to leak information to media about Trump under FBI counterintelligence investigation. James Comey leaks information to friend, Columbia University Professor Daniel Richman as intermediary to media. Washington Post publish article citing FBI intercept of Flynn-Kislyak phone call.
♦ March 2017 – • On 16th HPSCI Chairman Devin Nunes releases information to public about Obama presidential daily briefing containing information about Trump-Russia collusion investigation and surveillance of Trump campaign by FBI. First public indications that “wires were actually tapped.” • On 17th copy of FISA application delivered from FISA Court to Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Vice-Chairman Mark Warner. Shortly after 4pm, Warner instructs SSCI Security Director James Wolfe to leak the FISA application to media. Wolfe transmits 82 pictures to Politico journalist Ali Watkins via encrypted phone images [FISA application 83 pages with one blank page]. ♦ May 2017 – Early May, Deputy AG Rosenstein has phone call with FBI Director James Comey, “What do you want me to do – wear a wire?” Mid-May, Rosenstein takes former FBI Director Robert Mueller to White House for oval office meeting with President Trump. Next morning Mueller returns to White House to pick up cell phone he accidentally left in Oval Office. Later in afternoon, President Trump fires FBI Director James Comey. Following day Rosenstein talks to Mueller (3X) and coordinates meeting. Robert Mueller appointed Special Counsel; Mueller chief deputy Andrew Weissmann assumes organization of investigation.
♦ June 2017 – Weissmann assembles Crossfire Hurricane team into Special Counsel. WFO FBI Agent Brian Dugan begins to suspect SSCI leak of FISA application based on media reporting. Agent Dugan requests and receives first warrant for cell phone records of SSCI Security Director Wolfe and NYT journalist Ali Watkins. The same exact document hand carried from the FISC to the SSCI on March 17, 2017, was the copy released by the DOJ in July 2018 – not the DOJ-NSD copy. How did that happen?
♦ December 2018 – Despite the DOJ refusing to indict James Wolfe for leaking the Top-Secret Compartmented Intelligence Carter Page FISA application, and after the guilty plea was entered for lying to investigators, and while the Judge was considering Wolfe’s sentencing, in December of 2018, after the midterm election and under penalty of perjury, the USAO in Washington DC swears to the Judge in the case that James Wolfe leaked the FISA application.

The FISC and its staff are easily sophisticated enough to know that the the representations of the DOJ/FBI were phony. It couldn’t be possible that the FISC didn’t know the nominal Carter Page surveillance warrants were actually against candidate-then-President Donald Trump and the entire GOP by their “2-hop” warrants. The warrants were extended 3 times. What kind of judges would issue and extend long term 2-hop warrants against a harmless Carter Page, who could not possibly endanger our National Security, WHILE KNOWING the warrants were actually a trick to spy on the Republican Party and the President of the US without sworn, fully vetted, evidence? Really ?!!!! The KNOWING issuance of sneaky warrants by judges, when the REAL purpose was political spying on others than the named person to-be-spied-on, should be a crime. “How many US Citizens, unknown to the FISC, have been surveilled already? Have you been surveilling Carter Page while communicating with Donald Trump?” If so, what did you find that endangers this Country?”
“Have you surveilled Donald Trump or any other elected state or federal official, any candidate for state of federal office, any state or federal political campaign official, or any political party donor, when they were NOT communicating with Carter Page? Who, why, and what is their threat to the National Security? ”
Have you been surveilling the President of the United States when not communicating with Carter Page? Tell us why, who has received any surveillance information, and what security threats to the nation you have uncovered.”

It was easy to question the justification for political spying, but perhaps the FISC judges didn’t want to know the answers. They are smart and knowledegable enough, but they didn’t do that. In fact, the record seems to show that the FISC doesn’t even require sworn evidence to SPY ON THE PRESIDET OF THE US, just some BS filed to the FISC is good enough to issue a warrant with multiple ‘hops’ to thouands/millions of unknown people.
There was no rush to prevent the FISC from requiring sworn threat evidence for at least the warrant extension requests.
The FISC does not even protect the integrity and respectability of its own proceedings, by appropriately sanctioning/sentencing unsworn false filings and shenanigans. Their approach is sort of “Oh, you tricked us again into issuing and extending warrants, you silly tricksters – If you do it again, we will write a report about your illegal spying activities !!! Did anyone catch the testimony of Patel yesterday when he was asked if FISA 702’s were involved in the spying of the Trump campaign? Patel said no. Patel also testified that FISA 702 renewals should only be done every 10 years. Sure seemed comfortable in his own skin especially when he knows this is not the Patel portrayed in his book Government Gangsters.

IG reports show little change in the number of unauthorized FISA 702 “backdoor” searches each year. They didn’t start reporting this until 2021-2022 if I recall, but I remember EFF reporting that there were 3.4 million searches done on US citizens in 2021 alone. The FBI countered that some of that might be duplicates of the same identifiers — the usual politico hand waving to try and minimize the number — but, even reduced. it’s still a huge number.
So someone should present all those numbers then have Patel explain, with a straight face, how it either never happened before they actually reported it and/or how they were all responsible enough to not search political campaign members in 2016.

The other part of this is, you can’t tell me they don’t have audit numbers for those other years. I’ve worked in the private sector and for the federal government. This information would have to exist unless they were completely negligent with security and auditing. Or maybe it ended up in burn bags in some secret SCIF room.

At least the subpoena came from Florida and not the bastions of corruption in DC or NYC. We know all the bad actors and we know what they did, but based on what I’ve seen in the years since the good guys shined light on Spygate and Russiagate, none of the bad guys have been held accountable, and I see no reason to believe that will change going forward.

Tucker was good with the Russian collusion story by lost me when he went hysterical over COVID. In the early stages he was scaring everyone who watched him showing videos of how the country of China was dealing with stopping the spread. People wearing hazmat suits and spraying who really knows what all over the people and things. “Yesterday, Axios broke an unintentionally wonderful story headlined,
“Comey subpoenaed in alleged “grand conspiracy” against Trump.” At long last, and with Trump’s hyperactive Year of Action serving as a useful distraction, the RussiaGate Scandal is finally starting to consume itself.
In 2018, as the star-crossed 2020 election loomed, former FBI Director James Comey published a grotesque, narcissistic elegy to self-promotion and whitewashing titled A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership. By “higher loyalty,” Comey was trying to justify his disloyalty during his brief tenure as President Trump’s FBI Director (after serving Obama), because of his alleged devotion to the Constitution.
But now, Comey’s grandiose two-word phrase evokes a whole different meaning. In light of what we know now, to whom did Comey really owe that higher loyalty? Was it the Constitution? Or was it President Xi? Space brothers? The Supreme Chupacabra? Karl Marx?
He’s no constitutional hero. Comey is just another deep-state bureaucratic cockroach. Late last year, DOJ prosecutor Lindsey Halligan (a former Trump attorney) actually indicted Comey over false statements to Congress. But the case blew up on the launch pad.
In November, a liberal District of Eastern Virginia judge, Cameron Currie (Clinton appointee), dismissed Comey’s case and tossed the indictment, not because Comey was innocent, but by ruling that Halligan had been unlawfully appointed to her DOJ position and lacked authority to bring the indictment in the first place. According to judge Currie, Lindsey was “unlawfully appointed.”
It was a stretch. Lindsey was only “unlawfully appointed” because the Senate refused to confirm her under its “blue slip” courtesy tradition, which lets any Senator from the home state veto a nominee with a post-it note. After getting “blue-slipped,” a nominee never even receives a confirmation vote.
Trump’s nominees for attorney general are more likely to make snow angels in Miami than be confirmed in blue states. But set that aside.
This new Comey subpoena, in what Axios called a “grand conspiracy” probe, is Round Two. The DOJ returned, this time in South Florida, erected a properly confirmed prosecutor, Jason Quiñones, the SDFL U.S. Attorney, and thrust forward a whole new grand jury.
The new case is assigned to terrific South Florida Judge Aileen Cannon who, back during the bad old days, was the only judge to dismiss one of the Trump prosecutions— ironically, because Biden’s Special Prosecutor Jack Smith had himself was never confirmed and was “unlawfully appointed.” You can’t make this stuff up. Round and round it goes.
The DOJ started all over from scratch, and the fruit is finally beginning to flower. It just launched 130+ subpoenas that cast a much wider net than the now-dismissed Comey indictment. They’re not just coming after Comey for false statements to Congress anymore. They’re trying to build a broad conspiracy case against the whole team for the entire RussiaGate scandal.
By contrast, the RussiaGate actors issued around 2,800 subpoenas in total, many of them secret, including against sitting U.S. senators, conservative groups like TPUSA, and civilians connected to Trump, like Kash Patel (long before he re-entered government) and Suzie Wiles, Trump’s current chief of staff.
More interestingly, the criminal referral that launched the new South Florida case was signed by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
Words fail to describe the lasagna-like layers of irony. In October 2019, Hillary Clinton oozed onto a podcast and said the Russians were “grooming” someone in the Democratic primary as a third-party spoiler candidate. She didn’t name Gabbard explicitly, but said: “She’s a Russian asset.” Gabbard fired back, calling Clinton “the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party.” Tulsi sued Hillary for $50 million in defamation, but later dropped the case.
When she referred this case for criminal prosecution, Tulsi didn’t merely make an accusation. She declassified and released the underlying documents. The criminal referral came with the receipts attached. It was a pre-packaged prosecution. The DOJ’s prosecutor responded by promptly requesting 12 more categories of documents from the DNI, which Gabbard’s office was positioned to hand over immediately.
So, first of all, Hillary started the whole ball rolling by buying the “RussiaGate Dossier” on Trump in 2015 from disgraced British ex-MI6 spook Christopher Steele. Next, the woman Clinton publicly smeared as a “Russian asset” —using the exact same Russia-smear playbook that Comey and Brennan’s ICA enabled— is now the woman who launched the criminal investigation into the people who built that playbook.
If this were a movie script, the studio would reject it for being too cute. The woman smeared as a Russian spy is now investigating the people who invented Russian spies.
It might be too cute, but the case will be a whole lot different this time in South Florida, and everybody knows it.
Let’s refresh the facts for our dear Portland readers. Back in December 2016, the Presidential Daily Brief — America’s most classified intelligence product— assessed that Russia’s cyber activities “did not impact” the 2016 election.
But only a month later, in January 2017, as Trump prepared to take office for his first tour of duty, Comey and then-CIA Director John Brennan rushed out a brand new Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), reversing the original assessment and this time concluding that Russia had massively interfered to help Trump win.
Same intelligence agencies. Same analysts. Same raw data. The only thing that changed between December and January was the man about to take the oath of office. And the agencies’ standards. A later internal review found the ICA process was “rushed,” riddled with “procedural anomalies,” and that the decision to include Hillary’s infamous Steele Dossier —which the CIA’s own people called an “internet rumor”— “ran counter to fundamental tradecraft principles.”
In other words, the intelligence community’s own review concluded that Comey and Brennan broke the rules to produce the ICA. That ICA would become the founding scripture of Russiagate. Everything else flowed from that poisoned tree— the secret subpoenas, two impeachments, and four years of breathless CNN panels.
Now, a grand jury in the Southern District of Florida is asking whether that original scripture was fake.
Unsurprisingly to anyone but him, former CIA Director Brennan is also in the new case’s crosshairs. His lawyers sent an unprecedented letter to Judge Cannon’s boss, the chief judge of the Southern District, which shrilly protested about “judge shopping” and vindictive political prosecution —ratcheting the irony up another level— and demanded that Judge Cannon be taken off the case.
The scale and scope of what Trump’s prosecutors are attempting is historically unparalleled. The closest comparable might be the Church Committee’s investigation of illegal CIA tactics back in the 1970s, but those were congressional investigations that produced legal reforms, not criminal investigations that produced grand juries.
This subpoena drop might be unrelated to the expanding whirlpool of Trump news —the Iran war, the SAVE America Act debate in the Senate, and the Cuban embargo— or it might be incredibly well-timed, enjoying the media’s distraction, and allowing the Grand Jury to do its work without 24×7 criticism.
Whatever the truth, the rubber is finally hitting the dossier for the RussiaGate conspirators. If the DOJ can’t make progress on these prosecutions in South Florida, then it simply can’t be done right now, not without more structural reforms first.

I began coming to this site in 2016. I stumbled in it somehow and then was totally, 100% hooked as Sundance was connecting all of the dots on what we now lovingly refer to as Russiagate. I had a pad that I used to make reference points for myself as the whole thing was foreign to me then and so complex. I lost that pad years ago but here Sundance just gave it all back to me. Thanks!
I too stumbled onto this site a few years ago but I attributed Sundances writings as those of a loon. There was no way this crap could possibly be true.
But then, over time, I kept seeing that it was true. And then, a short time later I became a participant and financial contributor. The material here forms rebuttal arguments for those times where I find myself in discussions with “the uninformed”. Funny that I am not invited to those discussions much anymore.

I’m not yet clamoring to see bodies swinging from ropes, but I am getting close to it.

There’s a clinical dimension to this too, I suspect. How much of the requisite malignant disposition at the individual level is masking behavior for clinically significant syndromic pernicious personality disorders?
