This is a rather unusual approach for President Trump to take. President Trump draws attention to the Texas Republican senate race between John Cornyn and Ken Paxton, which will now turn to a run-off election.
As noted in his Truth Social post, President Trump will be endorsing one of the two candidates and subsequently asks the non-endorsed candidate to exit the race.
[Via Truth Social] – “The Republican Primary Race for the United States Senate in the Great State of Texas, a State I LOVE and won 3 times in Record Numbers (the HIGHEST vote ever recorded, by far!!!), cannot, for the good of the Party, and our Country, itself, be allowed to go on any longer. IT MUST STOP NOW! We have an easy to beat, Radical Left Opponent, and we have to TOTALLY FOCUS on putting him away, quickly and decisively! Both John and Ken ran great races, but not good enough. Now, this one, must be PERFECT!
My Endorsements within the Republican Party have been virtually insurmountable! It is such an honor to realize and say that almost everyone I Endorse WINS, and wins by a lot, especially in Texas! Horse trading his support is his right.
Essentially forcing the other party out of the race is a bridge too far.
Texans have a right to choose their representative. The POTUS doesn’t have the right to trade that away.

Cornyn needs to go! I doubt the RINO could deliver the SAVE Act anyway. It’s a critical piece of legislation, but Trump can lean on others who are not so UniParty.
Exactly what I was thinking and I don’t know why the President would jump into this foray. This is a tough spot for him as the way the RINO’s are represented in the Senate. You can see any number of them turning against him on the Save Act. Really bad spot……..

Paxton had 80% of the vote, then he dropped to a tie. This is why the RINOs won’t pass the SAVE Act. Cheating is not just for Democrats. It is disgusting that Trump supports Cornyn. Don’t make deals with snakes. You always get bit.

It is rather normal for a senator to accompany a president on visits to that senator’s state.
Cornyn’s campaign has been trying to give the false impression that Cornyn and Trump are aligned. I’ve received mailers with Trump’s picture on them.

A deal trading the SAVE Act for an endorsement probably would involve McConnell, Murkowski,. and Susan Collins voting against it, not Cornyn. Or, Thune could refuse to bring it to the floor for a recorded vote.

Thune’s horsetrading may have more to do with Trump’s nominees. The SAVE Act could fail this year but be reintroduced and passed next year. The problems created by obstructing tne nominees, especially for US Attorneys and judges, could be more harmful to the Trump agenda.

I definitely don’t want Cornyn anymore. I don’t see how people don’t understand how Cornyn is part of the problem of the destruction of our country. Him and all the other spineless RHINOs. It would be a disaster for DJT to endorse Cornyn, lots of reasons. The rumor is that Paxton will drop out if the SAVE Act is passed and the filibuster is abolished. IMO, Thune and Cornyn are snakes. I wouldn’t trust either of them.
