This is a rather unusual approach for President Trump to take. President Trump draws attention to the Texas Republican senate race between John Cornyn and Ken Paxton, which will now turn to a run-off election.
As noted in his Truth Social post, President Trump will be endorsing one of the two candidates and subsequently asks the non-endorsed candidate to exit the race.
[Via Truth Social] – “The Republican Primary Race for the United States Senate in the Great State of Texas, a State I LOVE and won 3 times in Record Numbers (the HIGHEST vote ever recorded, by far!!!), cannot, for the good of the Party, and our Country, itself, be allowed to go on any longer. IT MUST STOP NOW! We have an easy to beat, Radical Left Opponent, and we have to TOTALLY FOCUS on putting him away, quickly and decisively! Both John and Ken ran great races, but not good enough. Now, this one, must be PERFECT!
My Endorsements within the Republican Party have been virtually insurmountable! It is such an honor to realize and say that almost everyone I Endorse WINS, and wins by a lot, especially in Texas! I will be making my Endorsement soon, and will be asking the candidate that I don’t Endorse to immediately DROP OUT OF THE RACE! Is that fair? We must win in November!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
I hope President Trump doesn’t endorse John Cornyn! 😬

All I know is Ken Paxton is a very strategic thinker like President Trump. (He sued the Biden administration 17 times and WON) There is no possible way that they don’t have an optimal scenario planned out. I’ll be praying for the entire situation. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
President Trump will endorse John Cornyn.
Why? He needs Cornyn’s Vote to get the SAVE ACT through Congress.
Cornyn will become like Tillis and vote against Trump every time if Trump shuns him like Tillis.
And even though the Democrats will reverse this legislation when they become the majority in 2027, Trump wants SAVE ACT for the short time. That will leave us with a worthless Senator for 6 more years.
The Dems cannot reverse it with Trump as President. Trump will simply veto any bill reversing SAVE ACT.
The only acceptable way that Ken Paxton drops out is if Trump appoints him AG and ditches Bondi
That’s a great idea.
Did the Uniparty have Democrats vote for Cornyn?
You already know the answer to that.
Closed primary here. Those openly a D can’t vote in the R primary.
But the Bushies did get Cornyn to overperform.
Texas is an open primary state. The bigger issue here was the Wesley Hunt splitter vote.
Most of that would have gone to Paxton.
Definitely true.
Well that would bode well for the runoff then.
Usually, runoffs have lower turnout.
Wesley Hunt lost my respect for that. Sleazy.
I read last night that Hunt was called and asked to run! That’s the way McConnell has kept Cornyn in office all these years! Splitting votes in the primary is how they do it.
And, yes, as far as I’m concerned, HUNT COOKED HIS OWN GOOSE POLITICALLY with that ANTI-MAGA move!!!
Texas has OPEN PRIMARIES!
But the voters must remain with the party they chose to vote in for the Primary for the ENTIRE VOTING CYCLE!
Hunt is my representative and he’s really good. He advocates common sense policies and communicates well to his constituents. IMO he tried to get promoted to the Senate before his time.
I initially liked him, yet he has missed A LOT of votes! He missed voting on the things he says he cares about. I was shocked!
And I think that will really cost him! BIG MISTAKE!
That is incorrect. Texas Republicans have been trying to get our primaries closed because Democrats frequently vote for RINOS in the primaries. Primaries are open. Anyone can vote in either primary.
So stupid to do that
Yes, need them CLOSED.
In the Texas Primary, your ID is checked and then you must choose either Democrat or Republican to get the correct ballot.
Is this choice automatically entered for the Run-Off Election or can you choose again?
Vote in same primary
You can only vote in the run offs of the party you picked for the primary.
You have to vote for the same party you voted for in the Primary.
That’s not true.
Open primaries in TX.
But not open runoffs.
They just ask you to agree (without signing) that you’ll only vote in the primary of your own party, and then whether you want an R or D ballot. A person could vote either ballot. You’d just have to forego the ability to vote for your own party’s candidates if you crossed over.
I did my part to elect Paxton. I really, really hope Trump doesn’t endorse Cornyn, but I could totally see him trading his endorsement to Thune to get the Save Act passed.
I know Cornyn’s sister. Nobody in the family can stand him.
He’s so arrogant!
His nose is so far up in the air, if it rained, he would drown!
Doesn’t take much for Cornyn to “overperform”
Doing ANYTHING is “overperforming”.
TEXAS HAS OPEN PRIMARIES.
Texas is open primary state. What much of the discussion has not touched on are the nonparty affiliated aka independent voters. Texas has over 2.7 million registered as NDA or over 15% of the voters. Enough to effect close votes.
Sorry. Closed primary. You can only vote the part in which you are registered
Not in Texas. You have to pick one each time you vote, and you can change it each time.
Unlike voters in most other states, Texans don’t sign up with a political party when they register to vote.
That’s because Texas is one of 17 states with open primaries, which means regardless of which party voters identify with, they can choose from year to year which party’s nominees they’d like to select in the primary election.
How do you choose? When you show up to your polling location, you’ll decide whether you want a Democratic or Republican primary ballot.
But after choosing a side in the primary, you have to stay in that lane through the runoff. You can’t vote Republican in the primary election and then participate in a runoff election between top Democratic candidates.
That said, voting in a primary does not commit you to vote for a particular candidate in the general election. You can vote for either party’s candidate in the November election.
Is that enforceable! Sounds like no one would know until after the election when it’s too late!
Yes. If you voted GOP in the primary, that is known when you vote in the runoff.
When you check in at the polling place (or request mail ballot) you can only get the ballot of the same party you chose in the primary.
Yep, voted yesterday in Travis County, Texas (Austin). I had to choose either D or R to get my ballot printed so I could insert it and vote on a computer. I was surprised to find out that the Propositions on the republican ballot were different from the ones on the democrat ballot. A quick search revealed that the propositions weren’t for establishing law but were for each party to determine their platform going into November.
Dem senate primary vote exceeded the Repubs so if there was cross-over it couldn’t have been much. From Texas Sec of State:
The primary elections are two separate elections that occur on the same day. These elections are the method for both the Republican and Democratic parties to select their nominees for the general election in November. When a voter votes in a primary election or primary runoff election, they are affiliating with the party whose primary they are voting in. (§162.003). A voter who is affiliated with a political party is ineligible to become affiliated with another party during the same voting year. (§162.012). This means a voter cannot vote in both primary elections, or the primary election of one party and the runoff election of another party. Some counties will have joint primaries and/or the parties will share polling places. In a county where the Republican and Democratic parties are sharing polling places, the voter must identify the primary in which they would like to vote, in order to ensure they receive the correct ballot and are marked as voting in the correct primary election.
False x 10000
You are lying.
That is absolutely completely false
👀
NOPE. You choose, but for the whole election cycle.
I have lived in Texas all of my 64 years and not once have I been able to register as an NDA. Our registration cards only require us to sign it as a Democrat or Republican if we want to vote in a primary. There is no registering as an independent.
Texas is an open primary state. This means voters do not need to register with a political party to participate in its primary election. Any registered voter can choose to vote in either the Democrat or Republican primary, regardless of their party affiliation.
Voters must choose one party’s ballot when voting in the primary.
You cannot vote in both parties’ primaries in the same election cycle.
If a primary race goes to a runoff, you can only vote in the runoff for the party whose primary you initially voted in.
Probably not, because of how close the Dems own primary was. Paxton has this in the bag in the run-off, since 58.1% of voters went with someone BESIDES Cornyn in the primary. Most of that 58% will go to Paxton in the run-off.
I’m in a county outside of Austin and noticed Cornyn beat Paxton! Surprised!
cornyn’s campaign cost 100 million, with that kind of money, they can buy as many votes as they need from either party…
Cornyn for the Save Act and offer Paxton AG.
That’s what I was thinking too
Save Act and re-open government DHS funding, afirmation of all PDJT’s court and other nominations, standing filibuster, and return congress to proper budgeting rather than ‘continuing’ funding of programs that need to ended, fixing the FISA legislation to meet the constitution?
All Week One agenda 👍
Wow. Great idea!
I am sorry, as much as I think Paxton would be great as AG, we are sick of Cornyn. This is the best chance we have ever had to get rid of him! If everyone that voted for Hunt would vote in the run off for Paxton, we are good.
Thune knows it to be true. He is desperate to save Cornyn, to the extent of extorting the President by tanking the SAVE Act.
I sure hope you have fantastic AG to replace Ken Paxton though- this is my worry.
We do. Middleton is going to be great.
I was surprised there is going to be a run off!
A vote for Hunt was more of a vote against Cornyn than it was a concern about Paxton’s legal and marital baggage.
That is also what I am thinking….
I could see POTUS calling Thune and Cornyn – “OK guy’s! Save Act. Git ‘er done!
Once that happens, I’ll be offering Paxton a nice Federal DA, or Judgeship.
I’d much rather have Paxton in the Senate, but getting him elected in the General will take a lot of dough. DEMS will be salivating at the chance to flip a seat, and the Bush/Swamp team will not spend a dime to elect Paxton. In fact, they may throw some at Talarico.
Won’t happen
But that’s rewarding bad behavior, bad ethics, etc.
But I get it. Sadly.
PDJT should light a fire under Thune and have him strip Cornyn of any committee of importance. Maybe put him on the “cleaning the drinking fountains in parks” committee.
I don’t trust Cornyn to keep his promise. Cornyn is a die-hard RINO and is owned by the Bush Clan.
I could live with that.
The scumbags – both DemonRats and RINOs – would never allow that to happen.
Well, what if Trump could get SAVE passed if he endorses Cornyn?
Just wondering.
The President should remain silent.
🎯
OK…. send him a note. See how that works out.
He has been, but republicans want him to endorse this time around!
And how has that all worked out for us?
We’ve never had a Donald Trump doing this before and did you happen to notice the mess we’re now in?
He’s trying to rebuild the Republican party so that we actually have a true opposition party that is representing us.
That isn’t going to ever happen unless he’s right in there MAKING IT HAPPEN.. and it’s a battle even with him trying to do that.
We have just about zero chance at winning against the Swamp without his help- you should be grateful that he’s doing this.
Cornyn is part of the uniparty, establishment gop who hates america, free and fair elections, maga and President Trump. There is no difference between cornyn / gop establishment and communists because the senate’s lack of action to pass the SAVE AMERICA ACT will turn this once great republic in to a communist nation if elections aren’t fixed by 2026 primaries.
They will think nothing of dropping another 100 million to keep cornyn in office as a vote against The President.
Disgusting Predator Class…
Cornyn is right there with my other favorite repugs like thune, the turtle, ,mercowski, and collins; from Golden Pond….
utah’s curtis is an equally scummy, corrupt sellout (mutt romney v2.0)
Now, I can get behind DOGE preforming a forensic audit on the Me FIRST senator.
This was upsetting to me. Confused.
The GOP is a joke.
“ I will be making my Endorsement soon, and will be asking the candidate that I don’t Endorse to immediately DROP OUT OF THE RACE! “
The golden rule: The GOPe would rather see a Democrat win a seat than an MAGA Patriot.
We had a similar scenario when Traitor Tillis was running for his current seat. It was the Tea Party days. Tea Party patriot and limited-government candidate Brannon was steadily pulling ahead of Tillis.
The GOPe put 2 spoilers in the race but Brannon continued in the polls.
McConnell sent Karl Rove down with a nasty bag of dirty tricks but Brannon kept his poll lead.
Finally the GOP/RNC made it well known across the state that if Brannon won the primary, they would pull ALL support for Brannon in the General Election. IOW the GOP/RNC would rather have had the Democrat in the Senate than a patriot they could not control.
The golden rule: The GOPe would rather see a Democrat win a seat than an MAGA Patriot.
I don’t accept that as a given, but the RNC and RNSC are only going to put money where they think it is winnable. Of course they might have a different opinion from you on “winnability”. (I live in a blue state so know we will only get crumbs).
As far as the PACs/Super-PACs, they may be aligned but have their own agenda which may or may not be “GOPe”.
The real golden rule is if you want MAGA Patriots, you need aligned PACs.
As far as Tillis, former RNC chair Whatley is endorsed by Pres Trump. I think it is safe to say the RNC is behind him.
Yes. One other thing with Tillis. The NRA set up robo-calls claiming Tillis was the only pro-2nd amendment option in the race. We received almost a dozen of them. Greg Brannon was far better on 2A issues. Tillis had tried to kill pro-concealed carry laws in NC Senate.
I will never send another penny to the NRA after that. They went all in for a weak on 2A RINO over a very pro-2A Tea Party Patriot.
Yup – we were told is that McConnell personally called the NRA prez and had Brannon’s rating dropped.
Was just watching the Larry Kudlow show on FOX Business. In general, I like Kudlow.
Topic of Cornyn v Paxton came up when he had KellyAnne Conway on. Kudlow raised my blood pressure a few notches when he said that Trump should quickly endorse Cornyn. Then he asked Conway to concur.
To her credit, Conway dodged the question, and spend a couple minutes talking about how the GOP needs to focus their energy on the Dem who beat Crockett, Talicro.
I sure hope Trump understands that the MAGA base really REALLY can’t stand Cornyn. At the very least, he should just decline to endorse.
But if he feels the need to endorse, he better endorse Paxton, or he is going to lose a measurable % of support in Nov.
He’ll endorse Cornyn, unfortunately, because He’ll have more power in the senate if he helps Cornyn.
No, he won’t. They will fu*k him over again & again.
No he won’t. The neoconfederates are about to seize the senate, aided and abetted by their friends across the aisle like cornyn, collins, murkowski, paul, thune, etc.
Maybe, but I wouldn’t trust Thune or Cornyn for a minute!
From an RNC perspective, spending $millions on the runoff will tap-out donors who otherwise could be counted on in the general.
hmmm smells like the deal mentioned above
thune reached out to The President to ask for cornyn endorsemen: https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2026/03/04/congress/thune-cornyn-runoff-trump-endorsement-00812181
hell no unless quid pro quo – endorse cornyn on condition SAVE AMERICA ACT gets passed by returning to talking filibuster
That it is done before any endorsements are given out.
Absolutely, if he was going to endorse, the time was in the Primary, not the run-off! Now, he should stay out of it .
This is why I hate politics.
It shows the evil genius of those who set the 17th Amendment over 100 years ago. Without the 17th, the good people of Texas could long ago recalled that traitor from the Senate.
The Founders cited the two primary reasons against a popular vote for Senators: Legislative corruption and Electoral Deadlocks – precisely the two tactics the Senate now uses to override the State, the People and the President!!!
What’s it going to take…a convention of states to repeal the 17th Amendment? I don’t think we even have the majority number of states necessary to move on this…
Convention of States is a terrible, reckless process that even James Madison warned against. He said he “trembled “ at the idea of the danger of opening up the process. Numerous brilliant minds like Justice Scalia and Phyllis Schlafly have explained the recklessness of this path. The legislature in Nevada rescinded their call for the ConCon saying they were induced by fraud to believe it was a limited process.
Accomplish the same thing by naming lobbying what it is. Bribery.
First it will take the education and the will of We the People to understand that we’ll likely never regain a representative government as long as it is in place. (Senators can be easily bought).
Constitutional Convention (ConCon) is a risky approach unless it could somehow be constrained only to the repeal of that single amendment. Otherwise the ConCon would open the Constitution up to multiple revisions by generally corrupt politicians. Basically…..
First a repeal must be proposed via (a) a two-thirds vote in both the Senate and the House, or (b) by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of state legislatures
.
Then ratification by three-fourths of the states, either (a) through state legislatures or (b) by conventions within the states. Congress would say which in the proposing resolution.
Idk…
Cornyn is voting for the SAVE Act, as of now…or at least isn’t opposing it.
Trump endorses Paxson, he could very well lose Cornyn…RINOs are nothing if not petty little schoolgirls…
I think Paxson wins without the endorsement, and I’m not sure Cornyn wins with it…
Unless we get the SAVE Act passed before the endorsement…
I just don’t see the upside…
“I think Paxson wins without the endorsement, and I’m not sure Cornyn wins with it…”
Yes… hence the request for the non-endorsed candidate to drop out.
If he keeps endorsing RINOs like Cornyn out of fear of losing to a dirtball Democrat, he just kicks the can down the road. Think where we would be if the RINOs over the past decade had been replaced with actual Conservative Patriots.
you mean like endorsing Lindsey Graham? The same Lindsey Graham that partnered with Bill Barr to grin-f Trump for 3 years saying all the right things on Fox News every night, but doing nothing. That kinda RINO?
They laughed at Trump for how easy he is to play. They never expected him to be POTUS again.
Let’s make a deal! Would you accept Cornyn if you could have the SAVE Act?
Paxton would vote for it….why does Cornyn matter?
Because it has to be passed before the election! Paxton won’t be there!
Thune could/will allow the filibuster to kill the SAVE Act if the President does not endorse Cornyn.
Extortion by any other name is still extortion.
NO! Get the SAVE Act some other way. We have been trying to get rid of Cornyn for years, this is our best chance. Don’t stick us with him for 6 more years!
This time around, he might get scared and buckle up, but then again, he’s easily manipulated!
If we don’t get the Save America Act passed, you’ll find yourself wishing for a problem as small and transient as 6 more years of Cornyn.
Cornyn cannot do anything. These RINOs operate hiding behind the skirts of fellow RINOs. They are always looking for cover. If these RINOs were in combat with you and grenade was thrown in between the two of you, the RINO would throw you on the grenade.
Sad, but true!
Cornyn is a toad. I’ve heard and spoken with Ken Paxton in person many times and he is a confirmed conservative who absolutely drives liberals nuts. Ergo—he’s a perfect choice for the Senate. Cornyn cozies up to too many liberals—he’s a member of ‘The Good Ol’ Boys’ club and he is no true friend to our President. I will be very disappointed if President Trump comes down on the wrong side of this race.
We all need to show up for Paxton. He has earned it.
I agree. If there had not been a 3rd candidate siphoning 13% of vote, Paxton probably would have won a clear majority. We know Cornyn spent more campaign money than the other two combined.
Every time Cornyn has to run, he always manages to get some 3rd or 4th candidate to run to make sure the vote is spread out too much for anyone else to win outright.
You can thank MCCONNELL FOR THAT! He is an evil man!
That is why Hunt was in the race, to help Cornyn!
Yes, I lost all respect for Hunt with that move.
NO TEXAS MAGA VOTER SHOULD EVER FORGET WHAT HUNT DID!
Cornyn and the Bushies outspent Paxton more than 100 to 1.
Wesley Hunt, the splitter, will NEVER get a vote from me – not even for dog catcher!
Am becoming more than a little concerned that this endorsement routine, whomever it comes from, takes away from the people thinking and deciding for themselves.
Candidates and legislation (i.e., SAVE Act) should stand on their own merits. SAVE is a hugely important legislation, but making it a pawn piece in a Senate race almost cheapens it. We don’t yet know for sure if that kind of dealing is truly happening behind the scenes, but if it is – that just stinks. No other way to put it.
This unending deal-making behind the scenes drains power away from the people! JMHO. Politicians must and will support issues in some way or another, but this is getting crazy. It’s making life very, very difficult for the voters. Who to trust? Who is pushing who, and for what reasons? It’s getting dang exhausting.
No to Cornyn.
And thank you Sundance for providing opportunity to say something.
If every qualified Repub voter would actually get out and vote, the SAVE ACT would pass.
Bravo, sir!
Exactly. Horse trading away the right of the people to choose their representatives is despicable.
Spot on. I get tired of the 4D , 3D whatever D chess nonsense. I say go all in for the conservative non RINO candidate regardless. President Trump himself was in the same position as Ken Paxton in regards to the establishment not wanting people to elect him. What if America would’ve listened to the nonsense of our “political leadership” telling us why we have to vote for the “chosen” candidate over President Trump in 2016. I remember very well the establishment saying President Trumps’ nomination is just handing a victory to Hillary. I also don’t know what good the Save Act will do for the future of this country if all it does is require us to show ID to vote for the Republican candidate chosen for us. Just my frustrated opinion!
If it must be Corn-in, at least extract commitments from him on all the key future votes. The thing is the senator will be in longer than Trump will and can go rogue after 2028.
isn’t it funny how Trump has to wheel and deal with the GOP senate like they are the opposing party? The GOP senate didn’t oppose Joe Biden on anything, but Trump gets treated like the enemy.
It is Trump vs the DC cartels. Both cartels want control, neither cares if they run the country into the ground.
He is the enemy to some of the Senate GOPers.
That’s because President Trump is trying to help the people of this country.
The GOP Senate is trying to help themselves – as in oink, oink, oink!
Texans- has the state finally gone blue?
Meaning, this sounds to me like they are internally seeing this Democrat is actually super competitive and they are scared.
Not good.
Texans- please provide insight, thank you in advance
I don’t think Texans are scared, but it sounds like President Trump is.
I think not…………….
Not scared -PDJT is just doing what he does best, making deals.
He feels the more cards he holds, the better chance he has of winning.
You must be kidding 🤭
There are currently 3 million more registered Democrats than Republicans in TX. Look it up.
Texas has been Blue for a long time, just not officially.
People don’t register with a party because the primaries are open.
Registration is meaningless in TX
It would be interesting to see how many CITIZENS and LEGAL VOTERS are registered by the Democrats!
No it’s not, and you know it.
Texas has been flooded with corporate moves and start-ups, plus people fleeing taxation in other states.
Too many of these voters bring their Dem voting preferences with them.
There was the same concern about Beto. It’s a panic every election.
LOL, I guess Cornyn has a decision to make. Better get Save Act passed or he is toast.
There is this uniparty mantra that only Cornyn has a chance to beat the “Moderate” Dem candidate, Telarico. Well seems he no moderate at all. They hid who he really is. Extremely radical.
Brian Kilmeade on hid radio show this AM outed his trans stances and abortion through term. Etc.
If you can find a tape it was in the late part of hour one or into hour two.
Texans are not voting for this weirdo when they hear what he really believes. Just the rad left.
Talarico has basically been campaigning for years. There is a wealth of footage out there with him giving speeches. He’s just about one of the most normal politicians there is.
When he got caught with porn on his phone – he owned up to it immediately. No blame game. Full accountability. Refreshing, huh?
Not normal to say God is “binary” and that our border should be like a front porch with a welcome mat open to all.
Actually, his comment was that God was non-binary. He is also in favor of abortion rights for transgender, (somehow, I think I know what he was blabbering about but really is disgusting to think about).
Wait, do we have a leftist on here? Well, welcome. I can empathize with you, as I am always on Reddit arguing with the leftists and getting downvoted royally.
He is the furthest thing from normal a persona can be. He’s the one who said that our southern border should be like our front porch, with a big welcome mat. He’s a communist, just like you are.
He is an evil piece of blaspheming crap, and your pimping of him as a “normal politician” is quite telling.
Trolls like you disgust me.
BEWARE OF THOSE WHO ADVERTISE THEIR CHRISTIANITY – INSTEAD OF DEMONSTRATING IT BY THE WAY THEY LIVE!
Maybe suggest Thune and Tillis come out supporting Save Act or Coryn is toast.
Maybe President Trump should tell Thune “no endorsement” until the SAVE Act passes and is on his desk.
Unfortunately he will if he is promised something like recess appointments and passage of the SAVE act.
Why’s the harm in a run-off?
Nothing.
Fcornyn and all of his fellow RINOs.
I bet he will endorse Cornyn, to save the senate and so they don’t stab Trump in the back! This will be the cowards way out for Trump! I prefer Paxton.
Paxton in the Senate will not stab Trump either.
Well, we can hope the Trump focuses on the people who both claim to be republican, and study their past votes, who they hang with, and other info, dirt, etc… and pick the best person that “he believes” will be true patriot.
Trump picked 2 justices for highest court, and Tump picked Jeff Sessions, and Pam Bondi, and others that came into “new position” and turned against Trump!
So dig, dig, dig, and ask different people to “help” research it, pro and con on these people. Trump is PRO at picking business people, but court stuff he needs to address , because it makes a difference. Sundance would be good contact person, and there are others, just LISTEN … looking back at Trump’s bad choices, meditate on it, and see if on hindsight, you can spot the “problem” with your bad pick, and don’t make same mistake again. Lots of “snakes” in the republican party, lots of snakes. Good luck
Well President Trump has a lot on his plate, but I wish he would have endorsed Paxton 2 months ago. Then Cornyn would be yesterday’s news already.
John Cornyn is an anti-second amendment RINO!
He’s as deceitful and two-faced as Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Grahm!
OH. HELL. NO!!!
“I hope President Trump doesn’t endorse John Cornyn! 😬”
Let’s give Trump credit enough to know who his ideological adversaries are, and Cornyn is a poster boy of that ilk.
From what I’ve already seen, I trust PDJT to do what’s best for the country
I bet any money that Cornyn will ultimately get the endorsement via some sort of backdoor deal (e.g. for the SAVE Act) and that Paxton will fill another role.
Plus, Cornyn outperformed polling while Paxton underperformed it. It sucks. I like Paxton a lot more than Cornyn, but this is the reality of the situation. Cornyn endorsement in exchange for some sort of backdoor deal to be useful for something.
From what I’ve seen, I trust PDJT to do the right thing
I thought that after this horrible Iran War. Selling out Ken Paxton is too much. I don’t care what bills PDJT needs.
interesting to see inconclusive non convincing answers about primary itself! closed v open
sheesh
I am a Texan and so torn. Cornyn is a squishy RINO and dedicated member of the Uniparty. On the other hand, Paxton is demonstrably an unethical snake. Talarico might actually defeat Paxton. I guess I hope Trump endorses Cornyn and I can’t believe I’m saying that. I wrote Cornyn several emails warning him he was on track to lose his Senate seat if he didn’t change his RINO ways. Now, here I am, hoping he gets the endorsement. What a bitter pill
They said Beto O’Rourke was going to beat Cruz too, and look how that turned out.
Oh, BS. Paxton is not a demonstrably unethical snake. Apparently you are easily led around by the nose regarding the media lies and the rinos pathetic games. The man is a proven solid conservative. Talarico wouldn’t come close to defeating Paxton. Talarico is worse than Beto and conservative Texans didn’t elect him. Good grief it’s no wonder conservatives can’t make headway if this is how many of them think.
Just my two cents worth here: In the NYC mayoral race, what happened was that Chris Cuomo was running against Mamdani and the Republican candidate was Curtis Sliwa.
People of course haven’t forgotten what Chris Cuomo did to them during Covid so he wasn’t very well liked at all.
BUT then we had a situation where the Republican candidate wasn’t performing well at all, and had very low polling numbers.
So the Republican candidate didn’t stand a chance at winning and everyone knows Chris Cuomo sucks but he’s better than a Ugandan born radical lunatic.
So President Trump backed Chris Cuomo and fully explained that first of all, we know he can do this job, and while Cuomo isn’t by any means the greatest choice here, he’s also not what Mamdani is, so Chris Cuomo was the one with the best shot at winning and was far better than Mamdani.
THEN guess what: President Trump urged Curtis Sliwa to drop out to NOT Split these votes up so that they could try and get Cuomo over the finish like.
If you remember, this was an urgent situation..
THEN Curtis Sliwa the Republican with zero chance of winning decided to dig in his heals and run anyway !!
And we all know where it all went, Mamdani wound up winning.
I’m not sure how many votes Sliwa got and if they had gone to Cuomo, if that would have gotten him over the finish line.
I didn’t look into that yet, but my point here is that Curtis Sliwa didn’t drop out like the President suggested and this race then went to shit and now look at what they have going on.
We blame Curtis Sliwa for not dropping out and then helping to get Chris Elected.
Curtis Sliwa was selfish and thought only about himself and not the larger picture here which was to make sure Mamdani didn’t win.
So can we learn this lesson here that just happened???
We don’t need to have a repeat of what is now a flat out disaster in NYC that is impacting the entire country at this point, it would be nice if the candidates that he doesn’t endorse would drop out as requested..
AND last: I’m shocked that POTUS isn’t immediately endorsing Ken Paxton?
I’m sure there is a lot of background here that we don’t know, but this surprises me because it seems to me that Cornyn needs to go and I would have thought POTUS would agree with that?
It was Andrew Coumo, not Chris Coumo. NYC much different demographic than Texas. A Republican wouldn’t have won if he was the only one on the ticket.
Maybe President will wait for the Save Act to pass before he chooses.
PDJT is going to trade a RINO endorsement for the SAVE Act with Thune. If I’m right, fair trade. He can give Paxton a different job. (FBI? AG?)
Cornyn has never done Jack for the people of Texas. We can’t stand him. He shows up only at election time and says “ if you don’t elect me, the Democrats will win the election”. Works every time
And he always shows up wearing shiny boots and a big hat!
Trump has to walk a fine line. Paxton is great, but if Trump endorses him and Cornyn wins, Trump will have an enemy in the Senate.
SAVE is dead. Sorry y’all, but that’s reality. Not the black-pilled kind, either.
cornyn and the other simps will continue to betray PDJT47 at every turn no matter what.
I say let Paxton and the neo confederate cornyn fight it out, even if it takes all summer, to paraphrase U.S. Grant.
Texas turns a deeper shade of purple…almost blue.
Cornyn is a Bush Gang toady. He is poison to the Texas MAGA base. If President Trump endorses John Cornyn rather than Ken Paxton, a large portion of the MAGA voter base in Texas will consider the endorsement as an act of betrayal and will not turn out in November for the 2026 mid-terms. If this is what happens, the Texas Congressional delegation will be lost to the Democrats in November, poof, just like that.
Seems to me that Talarico has been well groomed. He is the new shiny object for the dems.
Watching his ads…if you didn’t know, you might think he was an R. He is dangerous, imo.
Cornyn had horrible gossipy ads damaging Paxton.
I do believe if President Trump endorses Cornyn, and I think he will, it will be a discouragement to his base, and Talarico could still win.
If President Trump endorses Paxton, the uniparty will continue to damage Paxton, and will make sure Talarico wins.
We still have machine voting, mail in ballots, and tons of corruption, and they will pretend it was due to his immoral behavior.
(As if any of those DC prostitues have any room to talk. Good grief.)
So, sadly, my bet is on President Trump endorsing cornyn and asking the better man to step aside.
I sure hope I’m all wrong.
Trump could have reversed NC from its progressive globalist trajectory by endorsing our #1 MAGA candidate for governor, Mark Robinson who was under full blown attack by the press, the GOP Party machine and the Democrats. He did not.
I still TRUST TRUMP. He sees what we cannot
The Senate has done absolutely nothing to help pass Trump’s agenda, so I don’t see why he should endorse Cornyn. But he probably will.
Mr. President, why on earth would you endorse Cornyn? This man is no friend to your plans for this country. Check his voting record and his past comments about you.
Trump will lose me if he goes for McCornyn
The Karl Rove cabal has been trying to oust Paxton since he beat Rove’s man Dan Branch in 2014. Millions were wasted trying to get him convicted of a BS charge that was originally dropped when the pack of Houston attorneys tried to bilk Collin County, Tx.
Most voters do not see the insight Sundance offers us. Under one scenario, Paxton will drop out. Trump then endorses no one.
Paxton will inherit most of Hunt’s voters and beat Cornyn. Thune, another deep state rino, is panicking. Cornyn, deep state rino, must go.
interesting thread, thanks guys for your different views, and your “helpful” and respectful way you’re sharing.
This is not a WAR THREAD, so the room is not has “heated” in this thread as the WAR THREADS.
Can Trump present both guys with “committment doc” that answers Trump’s questions. And ask for their best answer and why they answered like that ,… PLUS … Trump can tell them if they vote against what they say in the doc, Trump will show this doc, and “roast” them and “toast” them, if they backtrack and become a RINO after they get the position. Trump can say I want to know what I’m endorsing, and Trump can say … some people “lie”to get the job, and then VOTE a different way after they get the job. Trump is looking for “straight shooter”.
As a life long Texan (80yrs) I agree that Trumps decision is going to be pivotal to the race and my choice is a Paxton endorsement.
I also believe that a Paxton endorsement will turn Cornyn into a Tom Tillis clone. He will definitely vote no on SAVE Act.
Trump knows he only has a narrow window to pass the SAVE ACT so it can affect the Nov vote.
He is going to endorse Cornyn.
Cornyn Spent $110 MM to Paxtons $10Million and tied. Cornyn should know that absent cheating he will lose, and probably in spite of any cheating he will lose as well, and while doing so make his name MUDD throughout Texas. He won’t be able to walk the street without being berated.
Cornyn should save the state the primary runoff and cite the facts I just cited and drop out now.
Of course he will not.
