The premise of this interlocutory exchange is beyond bizarre when you think about it.
President Trump’s negotiation team worked with Ukraine officials and Russian officials to establish the parameters for a ceasefire proposal. Representatives from the U.S, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, working as moderators for a cessation of hostilities, held multiple meetings with high level Ukraine and Russian officials, including Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As a consequence, President Trump’s team (Rubio, Witkoff and Kushner) have spent hundreds of hours, including nine entire days over the last two weeks, in detailed face-to-face discussions with Ukraine officials.
Zelenskyy then goes to Paris, London, Brussels and Rome, to consult with European leaders, and then has the audacity to say he will present a counterproposal from the Europeans to President Trump.
PRESIDENT ZELENSKYY – “Today, we already discussed with our negotiating team the results of yesterday’s work in London, which was conducted at the level of the National Security Advisors of our European partners. This was agreed upon yesterday at the leadersʼ level.
We are working very actively on all components of potential steps toward ending the war. The Ukrainian and European components are now more developed, and we are ready to present them to our partners in the U.S. Together with the American side, we expect to swiftly make the potential steps as doable as possible.
We are committed to a real peace and remain in constant contact with the United States. And, as our partners in the negotiating teams rightly note, everything depends on whether Russia is ready to take effective steps to stop the bloodshed and prevent the war from reigniting. If Zelenskyy is representing Ukraine, then why didn’t Zelenskyy put his proposals into the agreement during two weeks of discussions with the U.S. delegation?

At the core of this, the most recent EU proposal to fund the next two years with seized Russian assets is an intentional incendiary threat. They know Putin will not/cannot allow it and they count on NATO Article V to force the US back into the mix to avoid an almost certain wider European war. A direct confrontation with Trump and a risky play counting on domestic U.S. democrat political/lawfare resurgence in the mid-terms to blunt Trumps ability to push back from the table.
That they are willing to jeopardize the almost certain breakup of NATO that would follow such blackmail is proof positive of how feckless and near-sighted Europe’s “leaders” have become. Truly the end-time evolution of the US-European relationship approaches and turning inward to our own hemisphere in greater focus is both needed and inevitable. The residual high-water marks of the 20th century western civilization becomes clearer on both sides of the Atlantic.

The core problem, I think, is continuing to be bound by our agreements with NATO. NATO is an outdated construct that was designed to defend against the mighty USSR, an entity that no longer exists. NATO has been changed from a defensive mechanism into a mischief making monster. Let the Europeans have their little war, but with one caveat. The moment they or the Russians harm any innocent American in any way, the hammer comes down.
And, NATO is no longer a defensive alliance. Such an alliance would want neutral space between itself and its enemy – lands that the enemy would have to conquer first. Whereas, an offensive alliance would stretch right up to every available side of the opponent’s borders, so they could ship weapons and such over “friendly” territory. Ukraine would be the last segment of this intended enclosure. And Russia understands this completely. They are not stupid people, and their lands will not be conquered.

Back in the 70s, the neutron bomb was being considered as a defensive measure in Eastern Europe in the event that the Russian Bear got frisky. The premise behind the neutron bomb was to kill people with radiation while causing relatively little blast damage.
Today, the table is somewhat turned. If the EU should decide to wage war with Russia, it seems to me that the neutron bomb technology might be turned against densely populated European cities. Rumors that the U.K., Germany, and France might dump their official U.S. Treasury reserves if DC moves toward a Russia–U.S. peace deal reveals Europe’s condition, this isn’t strategy, but the panic of a ruling class watching history turn the page without them.
Whispers circulate of a fantastical $2.34 trillion “nuclear option,” as if Europe commands a mountain of American debt it could unleash in retaliation. But that number is fiction.
The only reserves these governments actually control are roughly $550–600B, held by the Bank of England, Banque de France, and Bundesbank. The rest — the “trillions” — are custodial assets belonging to non-European investors. Europe cannot liquidate what it does not own.
So the great “nuclear option” is exposed,
a bluff built on assets that aren’t theirs, and a threat that would collapse Europe before it inconveniences Washington.

When will the Ukrainian people wake the hell up and start rioting against Little Man Z? How many more of their young men will be killed before they wake up? They have just about lost a generation of young men already. And to make matters worse, Putin is not going to back down until he gets what he wants. And who are the EU leaders going to get to fight Russia? The majority of their men are SOY BOYS.
The EU peace proposal is designed to keep the war going until Russia is no more.
There is zero economic benefit to Zelensky to cooperate with a peace plan. Zero.

Bypassing the EU was a smart move by PDJT.
Back in Trump v1, he took the panda mask off China by going straight to North Korea instead of letting Beijing script the entire show. And sure enough, once China lost that leverage, North Korea stopped being used as the missile-launch pressure tool.
Europe is using Ukraine in a similar way. By dealing directly with the actual parties, Trump is pulling the mask off the EU and revealing who’s been slowing down any real path to peace.
This counterproposal makes it obvious to me. The EU isn’t pushing for peace because it’s pushing for a piece of whatever comes next.
The Europeans need an expanded war with Russia for the same reasons that Wilson declared war on Germany in WW1 and FDR did everything in his power to provoke both Japan and Germany; To save their regimes from economic ruin brought about by their incompetence. In their case it will only hasten the inevitable collapse.
But only Russia actually remembers what that means. She paid by far the greatest price in blood during “The Great Patriotic War,” and she celebrates “Victory Day” every year so that her people will never forget. “The Ghost Regiment” marches again, as every family – including Putin’s – carries a black-and-white photograph of loved ones lost.
It is because they will never forget what War is, that they will always be prepared to fight it if provoked.
Europeans and even America talk of “World War” with insane confidence, having utterly no idea of what Gen. Sherman knew so well: “War. Is. Hell.” No one ever “wins.”
I am waiting for the MANY eager volunteers of Western European young men eager to die for a hopelessly corrupt Ukraine.
Let’s see the trainloads of body bags filled with dead young Europeans arriving back in Western Europe met by their grieving families.
Let’s see if the families cheer the loss of their loved ones to satisfy Europe’s corrupt elites.

Their proposal: Put United States troops on the ground in yet another never-ending war, while we sit back and watch you help us do what we really want to do … conquer Russia. Because we want those forty-odd helpless little countries with forty little flags on Victoria Nuland’s map – so we can plunder her bottomless natural resources. Churchill’s Operation Unthinkable is very “thinkable” to us. And, we want the USA to do it.
But, as Trump points out, Russia is the one with the upper hand here. She is winning the war, and showing that USA/EU/NATO has nothing with which to counter her because she can steadily out-produce them all. And with noticeably better weapons. She is capable of “de-miliitarizing” Ukraine completely, and is well on her way to doing exactly that. She has committed only a portion of her available military resources to this operation, the entire time. Do not confuse “remarkable patience” for “weakness.”
