What Christopher Landau notes as the contrast and conflict in ideological priority from the EU can just as easily be applied to the USA dynamic with Canada. As noted by Twitter user John Frank, “The same observations can easily apply to the relations with Canada, given the divergence between the US role in the military alliance with Canada, while Canada is involved in activities which work against US interests.”
At a certain point it does become necessary to distinguish exactly what values, benefits, perspectives and priorities frame the positions that determine who our U.S. allies really are, and who should benefit from that relationship.
It is good to see a structurally different perspective from the U.S. State Department that puts a bold underline under the term “western alliances.” What values are those alliances based on?
One ability President Trump possesses is to immediately recognize the artificial and apply pressure at a fracture point to destroy it or reveal it.
Nature abhors the contrived and the artificial fails from a flawed foundation.
The foundational values of the USA are above all honest, realistic and align with the laws of nature. Socialism, Marxism and Islam gain ascendancy though deception until all are totally subjugated, only then do they reveal themselves the dictator.
This is the first honest and realistic world view and foreign relations policy since at least the greatest generation and possibly before that.
In point of fact the “American Civil War” may have been the first color revolution played against the USA.
Sometimes you have to let the kid fall off the bike in order to teach them how to ride it.

NATO was created to prevent the Western European democracies from falling and becoming dictatorships. The Berlin Wall fell and all the authoritarianism flooded Western European governments. Time for America to put the chairs on the table, turn out the lights and go home.
