Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau presents a well-articulated change in perspective from the U.S. State Department. The response comes following the EU decision to levy a compliance fine against the social media platform X.
[SOURCE]
What Christopher Landau notes as the contrast and conflict in ideological priority from the EU can just as easily be applied to the USA dynamic with Canada. As noted by Twitter user John Frank, “The same observations can easily apply to the relations with Canada, given the divergence between the US role in the military alliance with Canada, while Canada is involved in activities which work against US interests.”
At a certain point it does become necessary to distinguish exactly what values, benefits, perspectives and priorities frame the positions that determine who our U.S. allies really are, and who should benefit from that relationship.
It is good to see a structurally different perspective from the U.S. State Department that puts a bold underline under the term “western alliances.” What values are those alliances based on?

I say we should pull all our resources back home…exit NATO, UN and whatever the heck else we’re a part of.
No money
No support
No assistance
No nothing
As Flo used to say, “kiss our grits”! [Paraphrase]
Amen, 18th Century Founders, “…avoid foreign entanglements…,” whereas 20th-21st Century Politicos and Socialists/Communists, “…foreign entanglements insure US wealth is distributed globally and equally…”
So we have the words. Let’s actually dog something about it. FINALLY.
It looks like our independence and control by the British in 1776 didn’t end after all!
We shall see
We think we’re free…but we’re not.
That’s the problem. Biden was not a wake-up call.
What benefit do we get from either the EU or NATO?
Nothing comes to mind.
The benefit of getting to support children with matches.
Why stop at the EU and NATO when you ask that question?
They all are money making rackets.
A pic of PDT in the cab of a wrecking ball crane fits as well.
I can see a day where we go to war with Europe and Russia is our ally.
Its far off , but the way things are looking, Europe is becoming the communists and the censorship and illegal migration is leading them there quickly.
We have many that want to be just like them within our government who must be dealt with first.
By the year 2050, what will the governments of much of Europe look like?
What will be the government policies in:
The UK
France
Germany
Belgium
Netherlands
Spain
Austria
Iceland
Denmark
Sweden
Ireland
Italy
And who knows where else???
In just 25 years – the same distance we are now from the year 2000…
Will much of Western Europe be friendly – or antagonistic – to the US?
Will the North Atlantic Treaty Organization still exist?
Will the United Nations still exist?
Will sharia law be the de facto law of the land in parts of Europe?
My humble opinion is the USA will have more in common with
Hungary
Poland
And (possibly) the Russian Federation
by 2050,
In terms of
culture
religion
and civilizational
outlook.
These countries may be the ones we draw closer to by 2050,
In a world that few could imagine would be so unlike the
world of 1950.
By 2050, we are 100 years from 1950
100+ years from the end of World War 2
100 years from Korea
Nearly 100 years from the Eisenhower years
The Post-War
Expansion
Suburbanization
Industrialization
Homogenation
Of the America many of us knew.
What would
General George Marshall think of the world of 2050?
Gen Douglas MacArthur?
Gen George Patton?
Ambassador George Kennan?
Dwight David Eisenhower?
Harry S Truman?
I think they would be surprised, then sadly realize and regret the path that so much of the world has taken.
“By the year 2050, what will the governments of much of Europe look like?” Like NYC: Marxist/Islamist.
I’m confident the same United States and European stock that fought off the Germans and Japanese in WWII
Will rise up and destroy the muslim hoard before we accept sharia law .
What is this European stock of which you speak? Continental Europe all fell to the Nazis and mostly collaborated with them. Some like Italy, Austria, Romania were outright allies. Others like the French and Norwegians surrendered and put themselves into the service of the Nazis. Others stayed out of the fight and hid.
Only the UK resisted. But the UK of 1939 is long gone. Winston Churchill is long dead. The UK governments today are worse Quislings than the Vichy French. The UK is far down the road to Sharia and/or socialism.
When was the last time you dropped by a US Middle or High School?
The majority of todays boys are not exactly masculine. They’re soft and, with very little exception, uninspiring.
Our schools/higher education has been mostly the same as Joseph McCarthy (1950’s) described except STEM education. Very little is done in regards to physical performance then and now. Activities today are mostly inside not outside with nature…bill
2050 is beyond my life and technology will have a major unforeseen impact. I agree with most of your post and I don’t care much what those old war machines think…bill
I understand what you’re saying, bill – just using some of the important personages of 1950 for reference.
I don’t think that they could conceive of the way the world in the last 75 years has transformed from what they knew.
The President was spot on when he just noted that Europe is in a Cultural Eraser– however exactly he said that, I think that is how he said it, but this is spot on.
Europe has handed itself over to brown people with low IQs, raping ferals.
They gave up Christianity long ago.
I don’t know what it’s all going to be, some halfway point between what they were and what the Middle East IS.
This is where they are headed.. everything about Europe is being diminished..
We are soon to have no more in common with this place than we do with Saudi Arabia or Qatar- or anywhere over there.
Europe is soon to be a totally different place than where our own Founders were largely from, the people that settled our own country, that place is not going to exist, it barely does TODAY.
And look what happened to the Hagia Sofia.
Sad.
I believe most of our problems are within…bill
That’s $140 million that could be used to help American citizens or could be invested into innovation that could benefit everybody.
EU officials are parasites and must be stripped of all power. EU is making economic war against U.S. interests. EU is not our friends.
Not forgetting that the EU and brexit EU dung beetles are making economic war on their own non-elite citizens.
It’s basically extortion….
This has been the case for decades now but as usual, like we see today with the Democrat Party they push and push and push until they are in crazyland.
This is just what they’ve done in Europe too.
It’s like watching a slow suicide.. what they are doing.
They have NEVER been our friends, especially Great Britain. Europe, as we know it or knew it, will NOT exist. There will be no borders for countries and the muslims are taking over. Ursula Von Liar reports to Schwab and his ilk.
It’s past time to pull out of NATO and take our billions (that we don’t have) and leave them alone to figure all of this out.
And make sure when we pull out that we take our paid for assets with us. “No leaving the equipment behind.”
This is about far more than the fine against Musk and X. It’s a grave warning to the people of Europe that their on the verge of destruction at their own hands if they don’t stand up for themselves – and – a notice to the WEF puppets in Brussels that we won’t allow them to export their insanity to our shores, nor be willing to be “allies” with them. They will find themselves either extremely isolated or vassals of a hostile great power such as Chyna that will hasten their destruction sooner than they think if they continue down their road to ruin.
As far as that particular action goes, it’s easy – if EU countries don’t like free speech they can block the application at their borders via their inbound routers. (of course, their citizens will circumvent it with various mean)
Their actions are much like those of California – trying to write laws and regulations that attempt to force everyone else to adhere to their insanity. Sorry, they don’t get to tell anyone what they can or can’t say.
The response of both the ADF and the poster who responded are appropriate.
…and never ever been…..
True. This is when we will see many innovative investments sprouting – all Made in America
Yes, for many decades the US is treated as a resource with outsiders looking to harvest us…bill
So they want to be able to identify every US citizen on social media and hold them accountable in a legal way for those things they say that European Governments don’t like? I agree. Let them get by with this and X is just the beginning. Why do they think they own the Internet and control other countries usage of it?
Their legal reach should not be beyond the borders of the countries they Govern and which was elected by their own people. That is if the elections weren’t rigged in the first place.
We had a revolutionary war against them for good reason. Their elite/ruling class are still looking down their noses at us, even though it was 250 years ago. The invaders should be handled the way all invaders should be. Man up, UK & EU.
Obama allowed the control of domains and the internet to transfer out of the US.
At least the issue is in the open. We deal with nations, not conglomerates. No negotiations with the EU. Dump NATO. Dump the UN. They don’t want us. They want our money?
The EU is getting more and more like prewar Nazis. If they don’t like what you say or write, its illegal.
Ending NATO would be a signal achievement, but it will not happen until we have a Vance administration, because Trump’s most important and influential cabinet member co-sponsored a law to make certain that Donald Trump could not pull out of NATO. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/rubio-pledges-to-uphold-law-blocking-trump-from-exiting-nato/ar-AA1xgFqe
Trump could choose to ignore the law and leave NATO anyway, but he’d have to keep little Marco out of the room and out of his ear for a long time to accomplish that. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/11/08/trump-nato-congress-courts-00188426
President Trump can easily remain in NATO but in name only. There is no NATO rule that you have to help with anything in any certain way. The individual country decides in which way it is best for them to help. Just cut off the participation. Do nothing NATO related, give nothing, no advice, no tech, zero money to any country in NATO or the EU, or the UK. President Trump can say he thinks it’s best for him to help by giving advice only.
Under NATO article 5, an attack against one is an attack against all, and all are obligated to go to war on behalf of that member. The only way to be out of NATO is to repudiate the treaty.
No, they are most definitely NOT obligated to go to war. Here’s a decent article on the subject that was written as a result of a recent event.
https://nationalsecurityjournal.org/the-nato-article-5-red-line-question/
Article 5 does NOT obligate all NATO members to go to war if one is attacked. That is a myth. (A myth perpetrated and reinforced by our own war-hawks.) See actual text of Article below in its entirety. Other NATO members may respond with armed force. But each of them decides how much or how little they will assist.
Article 5
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security .
https://www.nato.int/en/about-us/official-texts-and-resources/official-texts/1949/04/04/the-north-atlantic-treaty
Incorrect, the obligation is not automatic.
We should use our voice and power to keep NATO from going towards a war mode. Do not abdicate our authority – steer it with better intents and wind down the alliance.
Great idea in principle – but in practice it’s very apparent that the EU is hell bent on having their desired war with Russia and will stop at nothing to get it.
The reality is also that without our backing, the EU is incapable of going to war with a major power and they know it. They are like a chihuahua yapping and nipping at a 6’4″ 250 lb linebacker – a lot of noise, but no substance.
Rubio made the remarks before he was officially confirmed as Secretary of State. Wonder what his viewpoint is now…
True? If so, what are Marco’s thoughts?
Good point Fionnagh.
He may not be able to terminate the membership, but he sure as heck can withdraw troops or shift them to countries that aren’t in agreement with Brussels, as well as deny them all intelligence and satellite access among a host of other actions that while not technically terminating the membership in NATO, would hollow it out so badly that it would be in name only.
At this stage don’t think we’ll go to the far end of options, but wouldn’t be surprised in the least if some of them weren’t incrementally done if the EU continues down the path they’re on.
US troops in the European theater is more an economic benefit than actual war protection. I expect some troops to be moved…bill
This nation of doers and warriors wants nothing to do with a contrived unelected bunch of bureaucratic and autocratic bedwetters.
Outstanding!
One of the two most promising developments I’ve seen in a while.
The other was a new article in the Epoch Times headlined “Trump’s New National Security Strategy: Key Takeaways.”
If these represent our true, strategic orientation–and are not just more delaying chaff–I might find reason to adjust my emotional eschatology. 😉
https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/trumps-new-national-security-strategy-key-takeaways-5954307
The EU is asserting its regulatory power over any company that offers services in its market, by imposing fines on X; despite it being a U.S. based company operating within the EU providing services to EU users. Regardless of the company’s country of origin.
Hence, that authority is apparently grounded in EU laws under the Digital Services Act (DSA), in that the EU can fine companies for non-compliance with rules designed to protect user rights, ensure transparency in advertising, and allow researchers access to data which applies to 25 designated “very large online platforms,” including non-EU companies like X and TikTok. X is being fine for “violating these rules, specifically for misleading users with its paid blue checkmarks, obscuring ad information, and restricting researcher access”
This was the first enforcement action under the DSA for non-compliance. These fines can be enforced through various means ranging from seizing assets from the company’s EU bank accounts, confiscating property from its offices in the EU, or blocking revenue streams from EU customers. Even if a company is based in the U.S., its financial and operational presence in the EU makes it subject to these penalties. While companies can appeal decisions ( what Apple has done in the past)
Apparently, ignoring EU rulings risks further sanctions and financial consequences. EU officials maintain that their actions are based on upholding digital regulations and protecting users, not on nationality. They emphasize that compliance avoids penalties, as demonstrated by TikTok, which avoided a fine by committing to improve ad transparency.
Can X pull out and also pull Starlink legally? If feasible, will Musk do this? How long will it take since we don’t know whatever the binding contract agreement/s are.
“allow researchers access to data”
So they’re researchers now?
I’ll add that to the list:
Stasi
Gestapo
Savak
NKVD
Securitate
yes, that’s the BS they are spitting out only (because) their DSA is their only hope to enforce all that they can – whatever they want to spin as grounds for enforcement.
I posted this yesterday and it’s more true today: We need to Sanction Europe.
American Businesses should all pull out of Europe until they get their heads screwed back on straight.
Yes they will lose this money, but do you want to see this or war because that is where this is going.
Pick your pain and choose wisely.
Why on earth is Russia Sanctioned?
What the Europeans are doing is far worse..
“Pick your pain and choose wisely”
Boycott their goods. The best is tax increases/surcharge for their products coming into US market. Businesses will balk when demands are lowered drastically, to low almost no demand, that will hit them in the pockets. It’s only money they are after doing this to X at this juncture.
The question and reality is how many Americans are willing to do without? The rich ones can afford their stuff. But will they pay the exorbitant prices – order or fly to get them. Will Nancy’s freezer be as well stocked?
Who must absolutely have their German chocolates, Christstollen, Zimtsternen, Lebkuchen, Mandelhörnchen, Schnitzel, Italian ice cream and chocolates, Christmas cookies, 7-fishes, British Christmas puddings, fruitcakes, mincepies, Yorkshire puddings, trifles, Tom Smith Christmas crackers and goodies or the Christmas goose? Their aperitifs, port wines and liquors? Let’s have American vineyards prosper, prices lowered with more competition.
I can even start a business now to benefit real American companies to supplying materials and ingredients made/from America (not China, India, Pakistan or Vietnam) Will we see hospitality businesses catering only to EU customers maintain competitive prices? Everything is possible.
Nice regurgitation of the EU talking points. The second paragraph is pure EU BS.
This is not the first time you have done this.
In this case, from me “(Apparently) note – apparently, “ignoring EU rulings risks further sanctions and financial consequences”.
I do not (regurgitate) lies, spins and narratives. I stated what EU officials actually maintains; that “”EU officials maintain that their actions are based on upholding digital regulations and protecting users, not on nationality. They emphasize that compliance avoids penalties”
I gave the example of TikTok caving, “which avoided a fine by committing to improve ad transparency.”
You seem to zoom into “EU officials maintain” etc, etc, etc, etcl .. as (my) regurgitation implying it to be my agreement. I stated exactly what they are after, the “apparently” is my own estimation of this BS.
Can you even read, let alone understand?
The 2nd and 3rd paragraphs are almost verbatim of an EU-centric article written in Europe defending their actions I read before this thread existed, among a fair amount of other commentary not on the treehouse. But then, I “can’t read or let alone understand.”
The EU article stated that their actions had nothing to do with censorship and spewed the same litany in your paragraphs of the reasons behind the fine. The EU commission itself said much the same in their announcement of the fines.
The reality is that the DSA is all about censorship and control. Their statements are in fact spin and narrative. Disagree if you wish and swallow their lies hook, line, and sinker. I won’t.
All the US needs to do is defund NATO and let them know why-this and Ukraine war vs Russia
Starlink can be used to SPY on them too. Elon can tweak it to do so.
Do you expect President Trump and our houses of congress bandits to defund NATO after our president told them to pay up? I vote to defund NATO but usually I am in the extreme minority…bill
So interesting…the EU at the same time is trying to confiscate Russia’s frozen assets – this is a money grab. They are using these mechanisms to control the freedom of individuals for exercising their God given rights.
And of course they expect the StarLink system to carry on after they personally sue Musk.
I like what you suggested in an earlier post, Sundance. Tack-on a “free speech surcharge” of $1000 on every product imported from the EU. Every time they launch another lawfare attack, bump up that surcharge by another $1000. It won’t be long before the communist morons paint themselves into a corner. Although they’re nearly into the corner right now.
Or how about we end Globalism and make enough money domestically so that we can all leave Europe to destroy itself alone.
How about that?
Isn’t that what MAGA is about?
No. We are not an island without power – why should we isolate ourselves from humanity? We are a voice that can create a greater good if we use it wisely.
Yes, start your American made/material/ingredients supply companies, your American hospitality business. Wouldn’t the EU visitors be pleased to be able get their filet de boeuf en croûte made with US beef, pastries made with local ingredients/from local suppliers – genuine, fresh and Made in America; ah .. but at a price. We won’t use Paddington Takes The Test version.
If we’re going to go that route, the surcharge should apply to ALL transactions with the EU.
Perhaps $50 per cubic foot of natural gas or barrel of oil while we’re at it.
Tell them it’s the equivalent of their VAT…
That would work so quickly they won’t know what hit them
Yes, money talks…bill
Pres. Trump’s New Security Doctrine is the most important document in the last 50 years. It is a commitment to American Sovereignty, economic self sufficieincy, and the blue collar worker as the backbone of American wealth. The new strategy focuses on ending overseas intervention unless directly tied to U.S interests, with a prioritization of American economic superiority and reindustrialization. It calls for strict immigration controls, a robust military, and a focus on domestic infrastructure against natural disasters. The strategy has prompted substantial backlash from global leaders and media alike, who view it as a threat to the established order. Barbara Boyd explains the significance of this revolutionary document, its potential implications for global politics, and the ensuing resistance from both domestic and international entities. Tune in to understand Trump’s vision for America’s future and why it’s causing such a stir.
It is an attack on the established order. That is why the bureaucrats hate him so much. That includes the US/EU industrial complex.
Based on the excerpts quoted, all I can say is — what a fantastic document! This should form the basis of the Trump Party, by whatever name it continues — Republican, Trump, America First, MAGA.
This needs to be the doctrinal core of our party going forward. For politicians who don’t support it, adios and gtfo.
The nice lady quoting the document mentioned its similarity to (and extension of) the Monroe Doctrine. I hope it will be called the Trump Doctrine, and become recognized as the essence of patriotism.
It was interesting to hear how badly the media and the Euro-parasites took this. I hope it gets shoved down their miserable throats at every possible opportunity.
America First!
“This needs to be the doctrinal core of our party going forward. ”
… looking forward to the day when we are a party, and not just an unwanted appendage of the republican party.
Or the republican an unwanted appendage we are saddled with dragging us down.
It really is an outstanding read for its unabashed American, as opposed to global, viewpoint. It’s worthy of its own discussion thread.
J
Can’t say I can give a reason for the support of those nations. Pretty much everything President Trump and his teams has worked to achieve, those so called allies have defied. I suggest they look to Ukraine for protection.
Even if we can’t drop out of NATO we can come to a dead stop in paying dues, providing goods, and backing up their militaries in any way whatsoever. Cut them off dead in the water. Cut if all off.
Great idea! Do the same to the UN – and kick their asses out of NYC.
How about we ask for the following:
The State Department ask each country in the EU what they think of this EU ruling.
How about our President ask each of his cabinet members, our state Governors, each US Congress Critter, and all CEO’s of businesses that do business with the EU what they think and ask them to reply in public. What the heck, ask all the federal judges what they think–course you won’t get any answer!
Follow this up with asking the American citizens what they think about this.
Get all the results, publish them, and then proceed to announce what our position will be “on this matter” and why. Even if the President goes against any or all results, that’s okay as long as he gives his reasoning.
If nothing else it would be fascinating to hear the reasoning of those who answer or don’t answer!
But how many would tell the truth? They didn’t advance by playing by the rules.
From reading the replies to the Undersecretaries comment on X, Americans overwhelmingly support the position and are cheering it.
Some tidbits…
Some of the EU perspectives for it…
Just raise the price of the weapons the USA is selling to the EU to give to Ukraine, by at least 140 million dollars.
W need to cut our war industrialist off and not sell weapons to NATO at all, Let the war industrialist retool their business plan to build our industrial economy back up in America.
The frightening thing is how often we hear that NATO is a participant in many of these EU meetings…
Hokkoda and doesn’t your point precisely validate why Putin has gone to war over not having a rogue actor like NATO right there on his front porch into his country?
The more we see what NATO is about, the more we should be understanding Putin’s positions.
yes, this!
Yep, I work with a retired 1-star colleague and we were talking about how many times Europe has invaded Russia and killed millions. Like me, she’s always believed Project Ukraine was always a precursor for NATO to go into Russia.
It is not just another criticism; it is the announcement of a profound redesign of the map of Western alliances
This is not just another criticism; it signals a profound reshaping of the entire map of Western alliances.
Just an FYI, every bit of technology used in the so called “Information Age” was created by Americans.
The only thing that can be said to be European is Linux, but that was created by Linus Torvald to make a copy of Unix for himself – Unix was made by Bell Labs — an AMERICAN Company.
Apple Smartwatches and Iphone (used by some as Status symbols) is an American company.
Literally, technologically, Americans have been innovating and creating compared to the European Union.
C’mon
The guillotine is pretty ‘sharp’.
Granted that was from the Pre-Industrial Age… 😛
And now they are telling us that we have to import those technical workers from 3rd world countries, that our heritage people can now learn to be plumbers for their aspirations.
re: “a compliance fine”
Heh.
The ‘cost’ of free speech has been determined.
The USA needs to downgrade involvement in NATO and form the South Atlantic Treaty Organization (SATO) to include West African and South American countries…
“(A unified) ‘Europe’ is the result of plans. It is, in fact, a classic utopian project, a monument to the vanity of intellectuals, a programme whose inevitable destiny is failure: only the scale of the final damage done is in doubt.”
~ Margaret Thatcher
This is basically just the EU looking for an easy shakedown… – It’s highway robbery on a Supra-Nation State scale…
…- Their *Entire* economy’s in the sh*tter, thanks to Ukraine and Frankfurt school neo-marxist, Green Taliban/SocEng tomfoolery…
…- Stick a Fork in ‘Em – They’re Toast… – This too shall pass…
…- Fonda Lyin’s headed for her *4th* no-confidence vote (courtesy of the Ukie-adjacent Mogherini/Sannino corruption/money laundromat scandal)…
…- Merz just attempted to (re-)introduce the draft, only teh German yoots collectively gave out with a hale and hearty, “HELL NO!!”, in response… – That evil bloodthirsty harpy Kaja Kallas can go hiss and scream from her perch in Tallin all she wants, meanwhile…
…- It’s *Over*… – *OWARI DA*!…
…- Oh, what?… – You’re *Still Here*?!:…

I found it funny that the EU censorship dude posted his demand several years ago to Elon on……Twitter/X. Elon should have given him a 72 hour timeout off X just on general principle.
You mean the Euro-peons aren’t the best friends we can buy? I’m shocked! /s
“At a certain point it does become necessary to distinguish exactly what values, benefits, perspectives and priorities frame the positions that determine who our U.S. allies really are, and who should benefit from that relationship.”
It’s long past time that Americans come to understand what was hammered into many of us of older generation a long time ago:
America has never had “allies” in other nations. What we have, instead, are mutual economic interests.
What we also learned is that when two nations share a common border there will be one of two things happening at that border. Either trade passes across that border, or soldiers do. Traditionally, American citizens have preferred the trade alternative.
Welcome to 2025.
A military alliance to protect against a country that no longer exists, and a trade group that began as a group to streamline intra-European trade, but which morphed into promoting an obsolete international trading scheme (globalism) and liberal social causes. The EU long ago got WAY outside its lane. The NATO lane disappeared entirely
Perhaps we should annouce a 100% US tariff on all EU goods until the fine against X is recovered.
The EU is broke and looking for money, they are always, and I mean like ALWAYS looking for ways to create streams of revenue coming in to fund their socialist welfare state.
Think about what the Climate Change scam was all about.
They weren’t ever going to solve Climate Change by attempting to change human behavior- we all know this.
BUT what they were going to do is brainwash generations into fighting this battle so that they could make money off them chasing their tails forever as they played this game.. OR until the jig was up- as it is now. But they made out off this for decades now.
When Trump as elected, they can finally see that all this Climate Change scam is going to end now.
So they then chased a war economy over in Ukraine and it’s looking like this isn’t going to happen either because POTUS will get this sorted out at some point soon..
Their people are making big gains in curbing the Human Trafficking which is really what their invading hordes are all about, so there goes that revenue stream.
Now what will they make money off of?
So now lets look this free speech situation that has suddenly become a big problem.
What this is really about is that their money situation is the big problem !!
They aren’t going to ever really stop humans from saying what they want to say, anymore than they can change the weather and what the climate is going to do- so think of this like chasing the Climate Change money.
What they want to do here is penalized and fine their way into a source of income.
How many mothers know what the “Swear Jar” is?
You put the jar on the table and every time someone swears, they need to put a dollar in the jar.
In many families filled with working men, that swear jar will always overflow !!
It’s their own human behavior (like muscle memory) in that house.
What the EU is doing now is exactly like the Swear Jar.
Say what they don’t want you to say and pay the fines.. and note that are going after wealthy American businesses because look at the size of the fines they can force upon them !!
THAT is where the big bucks will roll in.
Think about this: it’s a jobs program for these people just to chase those fines using Lawfare.
It’s a money maker in every aspect dealing with all this as they crack down on the people=$$$
It’s JOBS, It’s ALL money making.
This is not really about their care of Free Speech at all, it’s about using free speech as a means of control in order to make money off the people that don’t say what you have decided they can say, and just like attempting to control the weather which will never happen.
People and businesses too will *never* be able to communicate in this ridiculous approved way so that there will always be non-stop offenders to fine and make money off of.
This is monetizing natural human behavior- which is free expression- which people will never do right– according to them.
This reminds me of posting at sites that have some list of bad words that we’re not supposed to say or our comment gets the Mods on our ass, BUT what the heck is this list of words? we have no idea, no one ever does. Every site is different. Every Mod is different as to who they’ll come after..
This is how this monetization of all the free speech violations will go too=revenue.
Think about it, this is rinse and repeat stuff here.. same scam, same patterns, different program.
“This reminds me of posting at sites that have some list of bad words that we’re not supposed to say………….”
All this talk about “bad” words you’re not supposed to say.
Where’s George Carlin when you need him………….?
Yes i would like to leave Nato or at least lower to an equal status of commitment withe the others BUT dollars NOT percentage of GDP. That would collapse it over night with Germany demanding the same dollars from lichensteine as germany..
HOWEVER like turkey we have years worEuropeans like emperers after all.
Bilateral agreements are much superior to these alliances with multinational organizations, EU, UN, NATO. No matter how they’re originally set-up, they eventually turn against the US due to our size and out-sized influence. All due to jealousy. The US must exit them all.
Bilateral agreements allow us to control the process.
If the US backs out of all European economic schemes (EU/NATO) now they will be forced to deal with and pay for their own economic follies.. oh the horror ..
The leftists in Europe and in Canada support Cuba because (1) these governments are also Marxists, and (2) Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, China, and our Dem party/leftists’ donors steal thousands of elections via the election source code. See Stolen Elections: The Takedown of Democracies Worldwide. The info in the book has been confirmed by many.
The leftists in Europe and in Canada support Cuba because they like taking lower-priced tropical beach vacations, and don’t mind they are sunning themselves and sipping rum cocktails in an enslaved country.
Month-long vacations is what many Europeans care about.
The Euros have been sucking off of us since the time of the Marshall Plan. Time to take the training wheels off soi bois.
Unconditional surrender will cure a lot of ills.
It is the Uniparty’s RINOs and DINOs I worry about!
They aren’t likely to accept any of these changes.
They love their “grifts” way too much.
Maybe the next “color revolution” should be a simultaneous move by the big tech companies to remove every one of the existing EU bureaucrats?
One of the replies from an EU perspective…
The United States was built by Anti-Communist patriots who cherished individual freedom.
The European Union was designed by intellectuals and politicians—several with openly Marxist backgrounds. Current EU Treaties and “democratic” structures still bear the clear imprint of Communist thought.
The “Federalization of the EU” is about centralizing all countries of Europe under the leadership of Germany in a typical Communist fashion – with central planning of the economy and controlled freedoms. This is all spelled out in the EU Treaties.
Altiero Spinelli was a Communist and his vision for the EU was not different
Many Conservative (still sovereign) governments in the EU are pushing back against changes in the new Treaties that have been added two years ago – which lead to further centralization towards a Communist construct. They joined the EU to benefit from the common market and not to be taken over politically and ideologically to create another Soviet Union of Europe.

In the meantime – Von Satin has started the re-establishment of the Stazi…
The EU is not our friend…even though countries and people that are part of it may be.
Nor is the UK our friend. Too long to put the entire thing here, but the start and end, with a link to the rest.
The British Empire didn’t disappear. It just learned a new trick. It realized it no longer needed soldiers, gunboats, or stolen continents. It discovered a far cleaner form of plunder, one wrapped in contracts, trusts, and tax codes, executed not with muskets but with Montblanc pens.
The trick was elegant: Why rule people when you can rule their money? Why occupy land when you can occupy trillions of tbr world’s balance sheets?
Where old empires looted gold, this one loots revenue. Where old empires planted flags, this one plants shell companies.
Where old empires ruled through force, this one rules through loopholes.
The uniforms changed. The extraction didn’t.
…
And here’s the part London fears:
That once nations realize they can’t be sovereign while their wealth bleeds into British-run secrecy networks, they face a simple choice:
Dismantle the system, or remain subjects of an empire that pretends it no longer exists.
Because an empire built on financial gravity endures only as long as nations accept its pull. The moment they walk away, the sun doesn’t set on the Empire, it is snuffed out.

Why can’t our social media platforms, websites simply cancel existing accounts outside USA? Block applications from Countries outside the USA?
It’s not on us to do the filtering. If the EU doesn’t like open, free conversations they can block them at their borders, like Russia does.
Canada under Mark Carney is in fact trying to create censorship just like the EU. Affecting Canadians.
The religious exemption for hate charges they are legislating to remove with aid of Quebec is progressives in Canada, moving to censor and charge those of faith.
Once they start making demands of social media companies a conflict with US emerges.
Don’t forget, only the presence of Trump stops Carney and the Liberals from going full stinky EU and trying to censor the USA. If Biden was there they would do it.
How the EU plans to circumvent the recent agreements and continue to steal from the USA…

I will say what I say, and the EU can kiss my elderly white rump
To paraphrase, there are no enduring allies, only enduring interests.
I’ve been following the fighting in Ukraine on the Frontline Changes Reports from Defense Politics Asia. It is dying down right now with the Ukrainians encircled in Mirnograd, which is next to Pokrovsk. I believe that this means that the Ukrainians are accepting the ceasefire partly to avoid having to surrender their encircled soldiers.
The EU is most definitely NOT our closest ally and hasn’t been for some time. In the case of Tusk, he’s a communist and deeply in bed with the WEF – which makes him an enemy, not a friend.
The quote in the reply to him is fairly spot on. It’s also far from “controversial” at this point in time, much of it spelled out by PDJT’s administration – but it’s concise. It does leave out the unpleasant reality for the EU that financially they are going down – hard – with the only debatable point the time frame. Would also disagree regarding South Korea and Australia, who are both trending in the same direction as the EU.
I don’t think the US and the EU are natural defense allies any more and we need to wind down NATO – the new US national security strategy is just acknowledging a bitter truth.
Rationale:
1) Currently the US funds NATO to subsidize EU countries, who then underspend on defense and overspend on pensions. The brutal truth is American workers are subsidizing EU pensioners, and this is politically unsustainable as the US pushes its fiscal limits (this reverse Delian League can’t last).
2) There are deeper differences on economic and social values. The US remains a country devoted to capitalism and markets, with a light social safety net, whereas EU countries have chosen socialism, heavy govt intervention, and regulation. The social values behind their citizens have shifted too, with the US prizing free speech, entrepreneurship, and decentralization above curtailed speech (“speech safety”), lifetime employment with low wages, and large central bureaucracies.
3) Allies that are closer to the US are Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the UAE. India is on the fence and will remain neutral. The UK seems closer in social and political views to the EU. Canada and Mexico are also more in line with the EU (and we may need to end USMCA and let them join an EU trade union). The key security alliance for defense is the Quad, not NATO. The key trading agreement is between China and the US, then India.
4) Immigration, climate change, and AI are wedge key issues. The US is ok with limited high skilled migration but wants to stop open borders; it also prioritizes energy security, AI expansionism, and tech innovation over degrowth climate plans, heavy tech curtailment, and regulatory stagnation.
5) The broader theme is the US needs to return to a mixed values and realpolitik based stance. The US shares fewer values with the EU over time, and needs to cut back on unreliable alliances (the EU needs to get on by itself too) and focus on just trade.
I call BS on Donald Tusk. As long as we cover their asses we are fine with them. Enough……….
When MAGA-America breaks things off with NATO and the EU will the trendy name for it be MAGXIT?
