When Europe goes to war with Russia, they will not require the military to fill out customs declarations as they cross borders within the EU.
Tanks, missiles, artillery and most combat weapons could be exempt from EU customs declarations if the plan by Brussels moves forward.
Additionally, under the proposal most drivers of military equipment may even be permitted to exceed the limits on driving times and rest periods, should the fight against Russia require extended physical effort.
The newly proposed objective is to empower European soldiers to make independent decisions without having to fill out the customary paperwork, requiring prior approval from the European Commission before affixing their bayonets. The EU wants to work out the details before they begin military operations against the Russian Federation.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius warned over the weekend that Russia may be capable of launching an attack on a NATO member state as early as 2028-2029.
If approved, EMERS would also grant derogations from standard customs and transport rules, including limits on driving times and rest periods for civilian operators, as well as faster, dedicated customs procedures under a specific EU protocol.

I would not be too concerned about the capabilities of Europe to confront Russian troops. It appears there are now multiple discussions within the EU proposing to stop tracking carbon footprints for soldiers during those times of the day when maximum energy expenditure would be needed.
The French and German military leadership are against lifting the climate rules; however, the pressure from the U.S. within NATO appears to be shifting the overall sentiment.
While negotiations are still underway about permitting the burning of fossil fuels for meal preparation in the field, thankfully there are military consultants beginning to convince Brussels leadership that soldiers making coffee in forward operating positions should be permitted regardless of emissions. LOL, That was a joke, correct? Sorry to have to ask, but if it pertains to the EU leadership, it sounds like something they might actually say. Yes they are that assanine. Truth is stranger than fiction.
And NO we should NOT bail them out this time if they are determined to start a war with Russia. They started all this in the first place by placating Zelensky’s request to join NATO. It’s time to leave NATO asap. NATO is of absolutely no use to the US and is nothing but a liability. Why should US taxpayers have to foot most of the bill for their defense so THEIR citizens get free healthcare, college education, retirement benefits etc? Enough is enough. Unfortunately I don’t hear President Trump talking this way.
Someone commented earlier that since the illegals won’t get drafted, they speculated the EU’s plan could be to send the native born men to be eliminated in the war. Then the conquering of Europe will be complete. That seems plausible, but unless we have a POTUS who has the fortitude to keep us out of the mess the EU has made for themselves, that same dynamic could happen here as well. Americans will be drafted to fight Russia and/or China, and the illegals and foreign HB1 workers would be left to complete the take over. The result would be fewer native born men with loyalty to the US left in the population. Democrats would be all in for that. I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t envision the spineless GOP putting a stop to this from happening. Times have changed now that we’ve been invaded, and anyone who is living on US soil should be a part of the Draft.
The Politico article is vague about why the Europeans are doing this now and implies, although does not state that it could be for defensive purposes to counter aggression from Russia. I find it very hard to believe that even the Europeans would be so stupid as to get directly involved in a land war with Russia. The German army is so pitiful that it would probably lose a war with Poland. If it does happen, we should stay the heck out. We don’t need to bail the Europeans out of yet another war.
Why would Europe want to commit suicide defending Ukraine?
Europe is led by leaders who almost of them are warmongers, they want war war with Russia as a means to justify for their failed economy, so that they could blame it on the war. By the way, the European economy started failing it’s been years now, and I do think there’s no bounce back for their failed economy. Now if they really want to commit suicide and go on a war with Russia, it’s up to them, but I bet they would fail miserably a war against Russia. The only problem are the European citizens being dragged into this by their warmonger leaders.

The United States wants Germany to take over the command of Nato forces in Europe, Donald Trump’s envoy to the alliance has said.
Matthew Whitaker, the US ambassador to Nato, said he is looking forward to Germany stepping up to take over the position of supreme allied commander Europe (Saceur).
He told the Berlin Security Conference: “I look forward to the day when Germany comes to the United States and says that we’re ready to take over the supreme allied commander position. I think we’re a long way away from that, but I look forward to those discussions.”
His comments were a shock to the panellists, with Germany’s representative to Nato and the EU responding that he “see[s] it a little bit differently”.
Lt Gen Wolfgang Wien told the panel that his country was willing to take on more responsibilities within the international organisation, but sees the Saceur as US territory.
The Saceur is one of Nato’s two strategic commanders and is at the head of Allied Command Operations.
Traditionally, the position is held by a US commander. The current Saceur is General Alexus G Grynkewich, who took up his functions on 4 July 2025.
In a post on X about the conference, Mr Whitaker said his message is that the allies “must deliver on Hague Summit obligations”.
He listed these as “invest in defence, boost industrial cooperation, build resilience, protect cohesion – our greatest strategic advantage”.
The European Union rolled out a new defence package on Wednesday to allow tanks and troops to deploy more rapidly across the many borders of the 27-nation bloc in the event of a conflict, as concern mounts that Russia is already probing its defences.
Europe’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said that spending on defence now might avert war.
“Weakness invites them to make their move,” she said, speaking of Russia. She said if the EU “increases its defensive capabilities and readiness, then Russia will not attack because we are not weak”.
The new military mobility proposal by the EU’s executive branch, the European Commission, would invest €17.65bn ($20.4bn) into 500 locations that have been identified as choke points, such as bridges, ports and tunnels currently unable to handle heavy traffic and vehicles.
The defence package underscored a change in geopolitics spurred on by Donald Trump, who has called into question 80 years of cooperation based on the understanding that the US would help protect European nations following World War Two.
