Buried on page 217 of the Senate Continuing Resolution Bill [TEXT HERE], Republican Senators have inserted legislation to “retroactively” pay themselves $500,000 each for every line of communication, telephone record, email or other electronic communication, subpoenaed by the Jack Smith Special Counsel during the Arctic Frost investigation.
The payment is a penalty for retroactive subpoenas going back to January 1, 2022. The payment is at least $500,000 per phone line or email account. That means each Republican Senator is going to make millions from the subpoenas that Jack Smith previously used.
House Representative Austin Scott is not happy the Republican Senators slipped this into the bill. WATCH:

They don’t call us the “Stupid Party” for nothing.
I highly recommend this analysis of the new “text” in the just-signed bill. It’s too long to share the whole investigative report here, so I’ve provided a link to it on Substack. “I’ve done a little research on the strange last-minute addition to the bill that was sent to the House from the US Senate and my gut tells me that Thune added it to protect GOP Senators from being blackmailed or held hostage by the Democrats should Republican Senators decide to nuke the filibuster in short order. I still believe Trump wants the Senate to terminate the filibuster ASAP and codify the MAGA agenda – and the Democrats will come up with all kinds of schemes to stop that – including blackmailing, extorting or holding GOP Senators hostage with the Arctic Frost investigation files. ” Peggy Tierney Trainor

I read it and this seems to be TL/DR:
“In other words, these 8 Republican Senators are worried the Democrats will use the results drawn from Arctic Frost to target them to blackmail them or extort them in the future.
The Senators want to remove themselves from the case completely by settling grievances now rather than possibly being forced into facing years of having their lives on hold while Arctic Frost remains an ‘active’ case – that seems reasonable to me and a smart way to protect yourself and your family being dragged into a government scandal which was initiated by the Obama-Biden regime.”
All valid good points; I concur!!
I’ve never heard of this guy but we sure need more of him! So, taxpayers paid for the Artic Frost operation and now we pay out the Senators. If we had a free press…..
If they actually act on this new provision putting $500K into their own pockets they should be voted out. What happened to them certainly was not right and illegal BUT not one of them was prosecuted like President Trump was and haven’t had to spend a dime to defend themselves like President Trump did. IF that bill is amended to say going forward the DOJ should be liable in some form or another with severe penalties for the perpetrators, like prison, then OK. But some pay off for the Senators has a bad smell to it. Clean it up and quick.
there’s also a question of legality on this secret move to loot the treasury and enrich themselves on the backs of taxpayers: per legal analyst Gregg Jarrett, it’s probably not legal. Article 1, Sections 9 and 10 forbid ex post facto laws. You can’t change the law and apply it retroactively without violating due process… https://dailycaller.com/2025/11/12/gregg-jarrett-senate-proposal-illegal/
Its BS like this that cause republicans lose elections.
Could this have been a GOPe stunt to torpedo those senators?
Don’t the secret FISA/COG (Continuity of Government) protocols acknowledge that the NSA illegally spies on all communications of all Americans, including members of Congress on the Intel Committees?
Isn’t this all Kabuki theater, given some of the Senators poised to collect this money, know of those protocols?
